Sejak awal musim 1998/99, tak ada yang menyangka Man United akan meraih tiga gelar prestisius dalam semusim. Apalagi dalam perjalanannya di setiap kompetisi, Setan Merah menghadapi tim-tim kuat.

Namun, yang paling diingat pecinta sepak bola adalah kemenangan dramatis di final Liga Champions. Man United yang tertinggal terlebih dahulu mampu melakukan comeback luar biasa dan mengalahkan Bayern Munchen di babak tambahan waktu.

Total 63 pertandingan dijalani Manchester United di musim 1998/99. Namun catatan Setan Merah tak begitu baik dibanding Barcelona dengan hanya meraih 36 kemenangan, lima kekalahan dan 22 kali imbang dengan memasukkan 128 gol dan kebobolan 63 gol.

2. 3. Bayern Munchen (2019/20)

Hampir sama seperti Manchester United, Bayern Munchen menjalani musim 2019/20 dengan inkonsistensi. The Bavarian tak mampu menunjukkan kapasitasnya sebagai raksasa di awal-awal musim.

Bahkan peristiwa memalukan dialami Bayern Munchen memasuki paruh kedua musim 2019/20. Kekalahan 5-1 dari Eintracht Frankfurt memaksa FC Hollywood melakuka perombakan. Niko Kovac dilengserkan dan diganti oleh Hansi Flick.

Perubahan ini lantas membawa Bayern Munchen ke kejayaan. Gelar Bundesliga Jerman mampu dikunci dengan DFB Pokal. Dua gelar ini pun dilengkapi dengan satu gelar Liga Champions yang tidak didapat dengan mudah.

Jika menilik lawan-lawan yang dihadapi, Bayern Munchen sejatinya menghadapi tekanan dalam perjalanannya ke tangga juara. Di babak 16 besar, The Bavarian harus bertemu Chelsea, kemudian Barcelona di perempatfinal dan Olympique Lyon di semifinal.

Namun secara perkasa, Bayern Munchen mampu memenangkan setiap pertandingan yang ada dengan skor besar. Hal ini pun dibarengi dengan catatan 100 persen kemenangan hingga merengku gelar Liga Champions.

Alhasil Treble Winner pun menutup musim 2019/20 Bayern Munchen dengan catatan 43 kemenangan, lima kali kalah dan empat kali seri dalam 52 penampilan dengan memasukkan 159 gol dan kebobolan 50 gol saja.

4. Inter Milan (2009/10)

Pada musim 2009/10 atau satu dekade silam, Inter Milan menorehkan sejarah sebagai tim Italia yang meraih Treble Winner pertama kali. Torehan Nerazzurri ini tak lepas dari tangan dingin Jose Mourinho.

Roman Weidenfeller and his Borussia Dortmund teammates have got off a long flight and into their hotel when coach Juergen Klopp says, “we will go for a run now.”“We thought he was joking, but run we did,” says Weidenfeller, who played 349 games for Borussia Dortmund in a 16-season career, half of which --- 2008-15 --- overlapped with Klopp as coach.“We would also go for runs at 6:30am; train three times a day,” Weidenfeller, a club ambassador, tells journalists at a city hotel abutting the Salt Lake stadium.“The first time he put us through such a schedule, we were, f****d. Then we understood. Soon, with the results coming in, we were inspired to do more,” says Weidenfeller, a 2014 World Cup winning squad member.Football for Klopp means being aggressive in front and at the back, says Weidenfeller. “With the biggest teams, he would pull them to our level,” says Weidenfeller, lifting his arms above the conference room table and bringing them down.“And then we fight, and then we win. Of course, Barcelona is better than Borussia Dortmund but Klopp will say, no, no…bring Barcelona to our level and then we will play.”Under Klopp, Dortmund were Bundesliga champions in 2010-11 and 2011-12, won the DFB Pokal (2011-12), the DFB Super Cup (2013) and were runners-up in the 2012-13 Champions League. “The second time we won Bundesliga, we were 10 points behind Bayern at the winter break and everybody said, ‘this year we don’t have a chance.’ He said, ‘take it easy’. ‘We have done our job, we have our tactics and if we can play strong, we have a chance,” says Weidenfeller, 39. Zwei Spiele, zwei Tore und dazu noch ein Assist. Thomas Müllers Start ins Jahr 2020 hätte nicht viel besser laufen können. Sowohl gegen Hertha BSC als auch gegen Schalke 04 trug sich der 30-Jährige in die Torschützenliste ein und zeigte auch darüber hinaus starke Leistungen. Die Fans waren begeistert und wählten den Ur-Bayer zu ihrem FC Bayern Spieler der Monats Januar. Im Februar machte der Torjäger genau dort weiter und steuerte zuletzt beim 4:3-Sieg im Pokal-Achtelfinale gegen Hoffenheim erneut ein Tor sowie eine Vorlage bei.

Müller vor Davies und Goretzka

Der Weltmeister von 2014 bekam im Januar 36 Prozent der abgegebenen Stimmen und verwies damit Alphonso Davies (25%) und Leon Goretzka (13%) auf die Plätze zwei und drei. Müller sicherte sich damit erstmals in dieser Saison diese Auszeichnung.

Gegen die TSG zeigte Müller einmal mehr, was ihn ausmacht. Den 1:1-Ausgleich der Bayern – ein Eigentor durch Benjamin Hübner – erzwang er mit seinem unermüdlichen Einsatz. „Man muss da hingehen, wo es weh tut“, sagte er hinterher. Das 2:1 erzielte er dann selbst, indem er eine feine Flanke von David Alaba per Direktabnahme vollendete. „Das Tor ist auch keines, das man einfach nur so reinschiebt. Ich fühle mich gerade gut“, freute sich Müller über seinen Treffer, mit dem er in der ewigen Torschützenliste des DFB-Pokals auf Rang zehn rückte.

Wenig später bereitete er noch das 3:1 durch Robert Lewandowski vor. Wieder war es Müllers beherztes Engagement, das es dem Polen ermöglichte, den Ball aus elf Metern ins leere Tor zu köpfen. Damit war der Oberbayer in den letzten 14 Pflichtspielen an 15 Toren direkt beteiligt (sieben Tore, acht Vorlagen) und traf in allen vier Pflichtspielen 2020. Here are some of the football stars that retired in 2019:

Juan Silveira

Seventy-nine caps for Brazil, for whom he appeared at the 2010 World Cup and won two editions of the Copa America with, plus over 300 appearances of top-flight European football with Bayer Leverkusen and Roma, winning honours with the Italian outfit.

Juan has spent the last seven years back in his home country with Internacional and Flamengo, but the defender bowed out at the ripe old age of 40 at the end of April.

Peter Crouch

The English striker also Known as “Crouchy,” Played for Liverpool, Tottenham, QPR, Portsmouth, Norwich City, Aston Villa, Burnley, Southampton and Stoke City.

He Scored over 167 goals during his time, spent seven-and-a-half years with Stoke, scoring 62 goals before joining Burnley in January 2019. He retired in July 2019.

Diego Forlan

The Uruguayan football manager and former Athletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Villarreal player, who scored over 252 goals during his time.

Forlán also had a successful international career, scoring 36 times for his country between his debut in 2002 and his retirement in 2015, including six goals at FIFA World Cups. On 12 July 2011, at the 2011 Copa América in Argentina, which Uruguay won, Forlán earned his 79th international cap in a match against Mexico, breaking the record held since 1986 by goalkeeper Rodolfo Rodríguez.

On 20 June 2013, in a match against Nigeria at the 2013 Confederations Cup, Forlán became the first Uruguayan to win 100 caps.Forlán was Uruguay’s all-time leading top scorer from 2011 until Luis Suárez overtook him two years later.

Samuel Eto’o

The Former Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid , Chelsea and Everton Striker who won the African Player of the year for Four times : in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010.

A precocious talent, Eto’o moved to Real Madrid as a 16 year old. Due to competition in his position with more experienced players, he had several loan spells, before signing for Mallorca in 2000 where he scored 70 goals. His impressive form saw him join Barcelona in 2004 where he scored 130 goals in five seasons and also became the record holder for the most number of appearances by an African player in La Liga.

Winning La Liga three times, he was a key member of the Barcelona attack, alongside Ronaldinho, that won the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final, with Eto’o scoring in the final, and was part of a front three of Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry that won the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final, with Eto’o again scoring in the final.

He is the second player in history to score in two UEFA Champions League finals. At Barcelona, He came in third for the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2005 and was twice named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI, in 2005 and 2006.

He has participated in four World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations. He is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, with 18 goals, and is Cameroon’s all-time leading scorer and third most capped player, with 56 goals in 118 caps.

Eto’o announced his retirement from international football in August 2014, and finally retired from football in 2019.

Wesley Sneijder

The former Ajax, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Galatasaray Midfielder who was named UEFA midfielder of the season and one of the three best midfielders in the world for 2010 by FIFA.

A product of the Ajax Youth Academy, he started his professional career playing for Ajax, with whom he won four trophies and was awarded the Johan Cruyff Trophy in 2004.

With 134 caps, he is the most capped Dutch player of all time. He announced his international retirement in March 2018 and finally retired from football in 2019.

Fernando Torres

The 35-year-old played for five clubs – Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, AC Milan and Sagan Tosu – in his 18-year career, with Torres attaining legendary status at Atletico.

At club level, Torres was able to lift some important trophies. He won the Europa League with Atletico in 2017/18, along with reaching the Champions League final with Los Rojiblancos in 2015/16, while at Chelsea he lifted the FA Cup and the Champions League in 2011/12, as well as the Europa League in 2012/13.

Internationally, however, Torres will never be forgotten by the Spanish public. His deft chip over Jens Lehmann in the 2008 European Championship final was the start of Spain’s dominance, with La Roja securing their first trophy since 1964. He also scored in the 2012 European Championship final win against Italy, whilst also helping Spain lift the World Cup in 2010. In 110 games for La Roja, Torres scored 38 goals.

David Villa

The ex-Barcelona star who won the Golden Boot at the 2008 Euros and finished joint on goals with the Golden Shoe winner from the 2010 World Cup.

Villa’s club achievements include winning La Liga twice, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

After spending a season at Atletico Madrid, he left Spain for America, as he became the first player for MLS expansion side New York City FC.

He scored three goals at the 2006 World Cup, was the top scorer at Euro 2008 and earned the Silver Boot at the 2010 World Cup.

His displays for Spain and Valencia saw him named in the FIFA FIFPro World11 for 2010. He became the first Spanish player to ever reach 50 international goals and, after a brief comeback in 2017,he retired from the national team with 59 goals in 98 matches, making him Spain’s all-time top goal scorer as well as the country’s top scorer in the World Cup, with nine goals.

Julio Baptista

The former Brazil international started out at Sao Paulo before heading to Spain, where he played for Sevilla – scoring 20 goals in the 2003-04 LaLiga season – and Real Madrid. Baptista helped Arsenal win the League Cup during a loan stint in 2006-07, including an astonishing four-goal haul against Liverpool in a 6-3 quarter-final win at Anfield.

There were also spells with Roma and Malaga, as well as a return to his homeland with Cruzeiro in 2013, prior to joining Orlando City in MLS.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

The Former Bayer Munich Player who spent 17 seasons at Bayern Munich, playing in exactly Bundesliga 500 matches across all competitions and scoring 68 goals.

His honours at the club include eight titles, seven DFB-Pokal titles, a UEFA Champions League title, a FIFA Club World Cup title and a UEFA Super Cup title.

He joined Manchester United in 2015, playing sparingly for 18 months before moving to Chicago Fire.

He played for the German national team from 2004 to 2016. He is Germany’s fourth most-capped player of all time, having earned 121 caps and scored 24 goals, in a 12-year international career starting in 2004. He was selected in their squads for four European Championships and three World Cups, including their victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Following Philipp Lahm’s international retirement on 2 September 2014, Schweinsteiger was named captain of the national team. He played his last match for Germany against Finland on 31 August 2016, after which he retired from international football.

Arjen Robben

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich winger from football aged 35 following a trophy-laden career at club level and having earned 96 caps for his country, which included playing in a World Cup final.

Robben won 12 league titles – eight with Bayern, two at Chelsea and one each at PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid – and was part of the Netherlands team that lost to Spain in the 2010 World Cup final in Johannesburg.

Patrice Evra

Evra, 38, has called time on a 20-year career during which he played for Nice, Monaco, Man Utd, Juventus, Marseille, West Ham and the France national side.

The left-back spent eight seasons at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League and three League Cups.

Evra also won two Serie A titles at Juventus and the French League Cup at Monaco. He won 81 international caps for France between 2004 and 2016, and was in their squad for two World Cup and three European Championship tournaments.

Xavi

A career in which he won it all – including the Qatar lottery – has been drawn to a close. A former Spain and Barcelona Midfielder, He won World Soccer Player of the Year (2010), Ballon d’Or – third place (2009, 2010, 2011), Spanish Sportsman of the Year (2009), World Cup champion (2010) Olympic silver medal (2000). Also Ranked has one of Barcelona all-time best player.

Robin van Persie

Van Persie retiring at the age of 35 is a shocking reminder of our own mortality, but it’s a testament to the man himself that he has lasted so long after so many injury problems during his early years at Arsenal.

When he was fit and firing, few strikers in the Premier League could match the Dutchman, especially during his final season in north London and debut campaign at Manchester United, when he struck 67 goals in all competitions.

Petr Cech

The former Czech Republic, Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper who won the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, FA CUP, English Premier League and other major trophies in the EPL before retiring from Soccer and proceeded to Playing Ice Hockey in his country.

By all accounts he’s a great goalkeeper; Cech has set the benchmark for all Premier League stoppers to aspire to with a record 202 clean sheets in 443 appearances in the competition.

Yet the 36-year-old still isn’t done, with the small matter of the Europa League final against his former club Chelsea still to come before the end of the season.

Andrea Barzagli

Barzagli perhaps attracted fewer plaudits than team-mates and defensive partners Georgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, but having joined Juventus for just €600,000, the centre-back has proved an immense servant to the Italian giants.

Not only did Barzagli help inspire Wolfsburg to their one and only title, the 38-year-old will retire having also won eight Serie A crowns, four Italian Cups and the World Cup.

It’s little wonder Juve chairman Andrea Agnelli dubbed him “the best signing we ever made”.

Ashley Cole

The former England defender won 13 major titles during his 20-year career, including the 2012 Champions League with Chelsea, three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup triumphs.

38-year-old Cole, who won 107 caps for England, announced his retirement on Sky Sports, where he was appearing as a pundit for Sunday afternoon’s Premier League games.

Cole made more than 500 club appearances in a career that took in Arsenal, Crystal Palace (on loan), Chelsea, Roma, LA Galaxy and Derby County.

Rudi Völler wurde 1960 in Hanau als einer von zwei Söhnen von Kurt und Ilse Völler geboren. Der Vater war gelernter Dreher, arbeitete später als Lagermeister und war Jugendbetreuer beim örtlichen Fußballverein TSV 1860 Hanau, bei dem er auch als Spieler aktiv gewesen war. In der Saison 1982/83 wurde Werder Bremen punktgleich mit dem Meister Hamburger SV Vizemeister und Völler in seiner ersten Bremer Spielzeit Bundesliga-Torschützenkönig. Am 17. November 1982 debütierte er außerdem bei der 0:1-Niederlage in Nordirland in der deutschen Nationalmannschaft, als er für Lothar Matthäus eingewechselt wurde. Bei der für die bundesdeutsche Auswahl enttäuschenden EM 1984 erreichten viele seiner Mitspieler nicht annähernd ihre Leistungsgrenze. Völler dagegen erzielte in den drei Vorrundenspielen, nach denen Deutschland ausschied, die beiden einzigen Tore für sein Team. Somit war er einer der wenigen bundesdeutschen Spieler, die die EM zumindest in Teilen als Erfolg verbuchen konnten. In den Spielzeiten 1984/85 und 1985/86 folgten weitere Vizemeisterschaften mit Werder Bremen, 1986 abermals wegen der schlechteren Tordifferenz. Dabei wurde er im vorletzten Spiel der Hinserie im Spiel bei Bayern München von Klaus Augenthaler so schwer gefoult, dass er fast die komplette Rückrunde ausfiel und erst am vorletzten Spieltag der Saison gegen die Bayern wieder eingewechselt werden konnte. Trotz der langen Verletzungspause wurde er für die WM 1986 nominiert und erreichte mit der deutschen Mannschaft das Finale. Er war mit drei Toren bester deutscher Torschütze im Turnier. Zwei seiner Tore erzielte er nach Einwechslungen und war dadurch bis zur WM 2014 erfolgreichster Einwechselspieler der deutschen Mannschaft bei Weltmeisterschaften, ehe er von André Schürrle abgelöst wurde, der in diesem Turnier drei Jokertore erzielte. In seiner letzten Saison an der Weser traf er in 30 Spielen 22-mal. Insgesamt stehen für ihn 97 Erstligatore in 137 Partien im Werder-Trikot zu Buche. 1987 wechselte er vom SV Werder Bremen zur AS Rom in die Serie A, in der er mit seinem Verein in der Saison 1987/88 den dritten Platz erreichte. Bei der EM 1988 wurde er in allen vier Spielen eingesetzt und erzielte in der Partie gegen Spanien beide Tore zum 2:0-Sieg. Zwei Jahre später, 1990, wurde Völler mit der bundesdeutschen Nationalmannschaft Weltmeister: Beim 1:0-Sieg gegen Argentinien im Finale von Rom war es Völler, der im Strafraum gefoult wurde, bevor Andreas Brehme den anschließenden Elfmeter zum 1:0 verwandelte. Mit der AS Rom gewann er 1991 den italienischen Pokal und erreichte im gleichen Jahr das Finale des UEFA-Cup, in dem seine Mannschaft allerdings Inter Mailand unterlag. 1992 kamen Völler und die AS Rom bis ins Viertelfinale des Europapokals der Pokalsieger, in welchem die Mannschaft jedoch gegen den späteren Finalisten AS Monaco ausschied, der dann im Finale gegen Völlers ehemaligen Verein Werder Bremen unterlag. Als sich Lothar Matthäus 1992 am Knie verletzte und nicht an der EM im selben Jahr teilnehmen konnte, wurde Völler Kapitän der Nationalmannschaft. Im Turnier brach er sich allerdings im ersten Spiel gegen die GUS den Arm und konnte bei den weiteren Spielen nicht mehr eingesetzt werden. Zur Spielzeit 1992/93 wechselte er zu Olympique Marseille, wo er – als erster deutscher Fußballer überhaupt – 1993 die erste Ausgabe der Champions League, vormals Europapokal der Landesmeister, gewann. Völler wurde im Finale, das die Franzosen 1:0 gegen die AC Mailand gewannen, in der 78. Minute gegen Jean-Christophe Thomas ausgewechselt. Bei der WM 1994 erzielte er im Achtelfinale gegen Belgien zwei Tore (Endstand 3:2). Das Viertelfinale gegen Bulgarien, wonach Deutschland ausschied, war sein letztes Spiel in der Nationalmannschaft. Für die Nationalmannschaft spielte er 90 Mal und erzielte 47 Tore. Diese Trefferzahl macht ihn gemeinsam mit Jürgen Klinsmann zum vierterfolgreichsten Torschützen der deutschen Nationalmannschaft hinter Miroslav Klose (71), Gerd Müller (68) und Lukas Podolski (49). Er bestritt 15 WM-Spiele und schoss dabei acht Tore sowie acht EM-Spiele, bei denen er vier Tore erzielte. 1994 kehrte er nach Deutschland zurück. Für Bayer 04 Leverkusen absolvierte er 62 Bundesligaspiele und erzielte 26 Tore, bevor er schließlich 1996 seine aktive Karriere beendete, um danach bis 2000 als Sportdirektor für den Verein zu arbeiten. Fußballtrainer und Manager Am 2. Juli 2000, kurz nach der EM, bei der die deutsche Nationalelf unter Erich Ribbeck als Titelverteidiger schon in der Vorrunde als Gruppenletzter ausgeschieden war, wurde Völler Teamchef der DFB-Auswahl. Ursprünglich sollte Völler den Posten ein Jahr lang (bis 2001) innehaben, bis Christoph Daums Vertrag bei Bayer 04 Leverkusen ausliefe und dieser den Posten übernehmen konnte. Als Daum wegen nachgewiesenen Drogenkonsums nicht mehr für das Amt des Bundestrainers berücksichtigt wurde, wurde Völler unbefristet eingestellt. Für knapp einen Monat war er im Herbst 2000 nach der Entlassung von Daum gleichzeitig Interimstrainer bei Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Seinen größten Erfolg erzielte Völler 2002: Entgegen vielen Prognosen von Experten, die ein frühes Aus prophezeit hatten, schaffte er mit der deutschen Nationalmannschaft bei der WM 2002 in Südkorea und Japan den Sprung ins Finale. Deutschland unterlag gegen Brasilien mit 0:2. Für Schlagzeilen sorgte Völler am 6. September 2003: Nach einem enttäuschenden 0:0 der deutschen Nationalelf in einem EM-Qualifikationsspiel in Island gegen die „Brasilianer des Nordatlantik“ (Zitat Gerhard Delling) bekundete er in einem Live-Interview mit dem ARD-Moderator Waldemar Hartmann seinen Unmut, nachdem er zur schlechten Leistung seiner Mannschaft befragt worden war. Er attackierte vor laufender Kamera insbesondere die Kommentatoren Delling und Günter Netzer wegen ihrer seiner Meinung nach unsachgemäßen und negativen Berichterstattung. Hartmann, der dies nicht gelten lassen wollte, wurde deswegen von Völler ebenfalls zurechtgewiesen. So kam der Vorwurf seitens Völler, Hartmann habe „drei Weizenbier getrunken“ und könne somit ganz „locker“ negativ über die deutsche Mannschaft berichten. Völler entschuldigte sich später öffentlich für seine Wortwahl, hielt aber an seiner grundsätzlichen Kritik einer seiner Ansicht nach desavouierenden Berichterstattung fest. Die „Wutrede“ Völlers kam vor allem deshalb zustande, weil sich Völler etwas früher als sonst im Studio eingefunden hatte und so die Vorberichterstattung Netzers und Dellings, der das Spiel als „[absoluten neuen] Tiefpunkt“ deklariert hatte, mitbekam. ARD-Moderator Hartmann erklärte dies später in einem Interview: Normalerweise hätten die Trainer nach dem Spiel immer eine „Cooldown-Phase“, „[a]ber das war ja eher eine Bezirkssportanlage in Reykjavik. Er kam drei Treppchen hoch und drei Treppchen runter direkt ins Studio. Und er konnte erstmals hören, was Günter Netzer und Gerhard Delling zum Spiel gesagt haben“ Nachdem die deutsche Nationalmannschaft bei der EM 2004 bereits in der Vorrunde ausgeschieden war, erklärte Völler am 24. Juni 2004 seinen Rücktritt als Teamchef der deutschen Nationalelf. Am 30. August 2004 wurde Völler neuer Trainer beim italienischen Fußballverein AS Rom. Bereits am 25. September 2004 trat er wegen des ausbleibenden sportlichen Erfolgs jedoch wieder zurück. Seit dem 18. Januar 2005 fungierte Völler erneut als Sportdirektor von Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Am 16. September 2005 wurde er als Nachfolger von Klaus Augenthaler Übergangstrainer für drei Bundesligaspiele. Am 9. Oktober 2005 gab er das Traineramt an Michael Skibbe ab und arbeitete seitdem wieder als Sportdirektor. Im April 2014 wurde Völler nach der 2:1-Niederlage beim Hamburger SV mit einer Geldstrafe in Höhe von 8.000 Euro belegt, weil er Schiedsrichter Dankert Parteilichkeit vorgeworfen hatte: „Der 13. Mann des HSV war Herr Dankert. Wenn der HSV den Antrag stellt, dass Herr Dankert noch eines der letzten Spiele pfeift, werden sie definitiv nicht absteigen.“ Am 24. Februar 2016 wurde Völler vom DFB erneut zur Zahlung einer Geldstrafe in Höhe von 10.000 Euro verurteilt, nachdem er nach der 0:1-Niederlage gegen Borussia Dortmund Schiedsrichter Felix Zwayer Parteilichkeit vorgeworfen hatte. Völler übernahm zum 1. Juli 2018 die Aufgaben des Geschäftsführers Sport in der Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH an der Seite des Geschäftsführers Fernando Carro. Von der Kölner Mundartband Höhner wurde er 2001 im Titel Tante Käthe als Bundestrainer besungen. Der damalige Stadionsprecher des Bremer Weserstadions, Christian Günther, veröffentlichte in den 1980er-Jahren die Single Was ist bloß mit Rudi los?. In der deutschen Version des Videospiels Der Herr der Ringe Online existiert ein Nichtspielercharakter namens Rhudy Völler, der die Schneeballschlacht des jährlichen Winter-Julfests beaufsichtigt und anleitet, wohl als Hommage gedacht an Rudi Völlers Leistungen als Trainer. In der Presse wurde Völler kritisiert, da er für den umstrittenen Energieanbieter Teldafax warb. Seit Sommer 2011 ist Völler als Werbefigur für Sparkassen zu sehen.

Lange dauert es nicht mehr, dann ist auch der neue Innenverteidiger an Bord: Matthias Ginter steht unmittelbar vor dem Wechsel zu Borussia Mönchengladbach. Wie der kicker in seiner Montagausgabe berichtet, geht es jetzt ganz schnell mit dem geplanten Transfer. Im Laufe des heutigen Montags kehrt die deutsche Nationalmannschaft als frisch gebackener Confed-Cup-Sieger nach Deutschland zurück. Das Turnierende in Russland bedeutet gleichzeitig, dass der Wechsel von Matthias Ginter zu den Fohlen zeitnah abgeschlossen werden kann. Der kicker weiß: Für Gladbach lässt der Verteidiger sogar lukrative Offerten aus der Premier League sausen und widersteht dabei auch dem Werben der Tottenham Hotspur, die den 23-Jährigen nach London locken. Ginter will unbedingt nach Gladbach, seine Entscheidung steht. In den nächsten Tagen ist dem Abschluss des Transfers zu rechnen. Geschätzte 15 Millionen Euro wird Gladbach an Borussia Dortmund zahlen. Beim BVB besitzt Ginter, der in der abgelaufenen Saison auf 42 Einsätze (29 Spiele in der Bundesliga, fünf im DFB-Pokal, acht in der Champions League) kam, einen Vertrag bis 2019. Dortmund wird dem Weltmeister von 2014 keine Steine für den Wechsel an den Niederrhein in den Weg legen.

Wenn Louis van Gaal weinend den Fernseher ausmacht

Montagabend. Fußball. Was für viele Fans ein absoluter Dorn im Auge ist, ist für mich (den faulen Studenten) wunderbar. Heimspiel Leipzig, nichts zu tun. Also ab in die Straßenbahn und ins Stadion. Leipzig  gegen Hoffenheim, das klingt nach einer tollen Partie Vollgasfußball !! Denkste. Ein kleiner Text darüber, warum dies mein vorletztes (das Spiel gegen Bayern ist das letzte) Spiel in dieser Saison in der Rasenballsport Arena war.

Zugegeben, man ist als Fan des FC Bayern verwöhnt, weil man Spiele auf hohem Level geboten bekommt. Dies mag in letzter Zeit nicht oft der Fall gewesen sein, allerdings hatten selbst solche Spiele noch ein recht hohes Niveau, weil eine Mannschaft das Spiel gestaltet, die andere Mannschaft hingegen auf Fehler wartet. Das bringt ein Spannungsmoment, welches auch besteht, wenn die Münchner mal wieder ab 20m vor dem Tor wenig kreativ sind.

Kommen wir nun zum Spiel von Montag: Beide Teams traten mit einer 3er/5er Kette an. Die bei RB war jedoch deutlicher zu erkennen, als eben jene auf der Gegenseite. Das lag daran, dass bei der TSG Grillitsch die Rolle des zentralen Innenverteidigers nur sporadisch annahm und eher als Defensiver Mittelfeldspieler agierte, wodurch sich mal eine Fünfer-, mal eine Vierer-, ma eine Dreierkette ergab. Tolle Sache. Ich bin ein Fan der Dreier-/Fünferkette, sodass ich bei Anpfiff schon leicht erfreut war.

Was danach folgte war allerdings furchtbar. Es braucht nur ein Wort, um dieses Spiel zu beschreiben: Ballverlust. Statistisch gesehen gab es aller 20 Sekunden (!!!) einen Fehlpass von einer der beiden Mannschaften. Ballgewinn - Pass - Pass - Fehlpass. Und das 90 Minuten lang.

Ich habe nichts gegen diese Art von Fußball, wenn sie ertragreich ist. War sie aber nicht. Und das zieht sich schon seit einiger Zeit durch das Leipziger Spiel. Erst neulich habe ich nach 20 Minuten im DFB Pokal ausgeschaltet, weil ich sowas nicht ertrage. Leipzig fehlt es an Spielern wie Thiago, die einen Ball auch mal über mehr als 20m an den Mann bringen könne, die Pässe in 19 von 20 Fällen fehlerfrei spielen. 

Der Fußball, den Ralf Rangnick spielen lässt, gefällt mir nicht. Der Fußball, den sein Vorgänger Hasenhüttl spielen ließ, gefiel mir. Warum? Weil die Bälle vorne ankamen und nicht schon im Mittelfeld verloren gingen, wodruch das Spiel an Rasanz gewann.

Meine persönliche Erkenntnis aus diesem Spiel: Gott sei dank war Louis van Gaal Trainer des FC Bayern München! Ich schaue mir lieber 150 Pässe mit am Ende 5 Metern Raumgewinn an, als 150 Pässe, wovon mindestens 50 beim Gegner landen. Ballbesitzfußball ist etwas schönes. Es gibt dem Spiel Ruhe, es entspannt den Zuschauer, es hilft mitunter beim Einschlafen. Wer jedes Mal zusammenzuckt, wenn ein Ball verloren geht, der hätte am Montag nach 30 Minuten einen Krampf gehabt. Und eben jener Louis van Gaal hätte wahrscheinlich mit irgendwelchen Gegenständen nach dem Fernseher geschmissen.

Da es hier keine Aussicht auf Verbesserung gibt, werde ich der Arena bis zum Saisonende fern bleiben und mir mitunter andere Spiele anschauen. Ballgeschiebe in München zum Beispiel.

Don't want to be annoying or anything but i'm just so upset over Tuchel leaving :( It hurts so much knowing he won't be here next season. I was really excited for next season under Tuchel because I felt we could win the league (with the young players being more experienced + transition period being over) & I also believed we would go far in UCL. But now thats not going to happen. He deserved so much better. Im so sad. He was perfect for us especially the youngsters. Such a shame we let him go :(

Me too, he gave me so much hope for this team. At the end of 2014/15 he was the only potential trainer who made me feel hopeful about our future and he hasn’t disappointed me at all. In 2015/16 he made me feel that this team really can win titles, even with Bayern in the way. In 2016/17 we won the DFB-Pokal, and not just that, we saw for the first time in years how much young players can accomplish, and it made me really hopeful for the future of the club.

It sucks that we’ll have another transition phase now. This season’s transition phase turned out to be a great success, with young players stepping up into big roles, but it’s an exhausting process for everyone involved and there’s always a risk that it won’t work out as planned. Now we can only hope that the next transition will work well too. This team has way too much potential and it would be such a pity to see it squandered. I’m not expecting the next coach to be quite as brilliant as Tuchel, but let’s hope to get the best we can!
