Wishing my fellow tic disorder havers happy and safe chilly seasons. I know some of yall, like myself, can have worse tics triggered by cold or shivers. I hope you can still have a good few months, and I’m sending you love!

Frank 4, 15, and 26?
4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
Frank is very eloquent and his diction is on point. He also speaks at a very measured clip because, really, who is going to interrupt the Dragon Lord when he’s speaking? (Dezzie. Dezzie, that’s who XD)
15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
He would make a poor monarch if he couldn’t multi-task. Frank is definitely one of those people who can write and hold a conversation at the same time.
26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
If he’s in another form, Frank sheds that fake skin and curls up on his pile of gold. It feels so good: so warm and smooth on his scales. But with that being said, he has two modes: hibernation where he doesn’t leave his lair for days or months at a time, and constant wakefulness. There is no 24 hour human schedule for him.
#ask bubbles#original fiction#he is noticing however#that he is sleeping a lot more than he used to#old age i guess#:3#puffdragongirl

Tfw you don’t tic for most of the day and then you randomly whistle or something and it’s like “What was That? Where did that come from?” And then you remember you have the disorder

Happy Tourette’s awareness month! Friendly reminder that just because you don’t see someone tic, doesn’t mean they are faking or lying or even that they have mild tics!
There’s soooo many reasons you might not see someone tic! It’s not your place to decide what that means

That’s actually a pretty common tic of mine! I’ll often tic that and then flip the middle finger after for some reason
One of my newest tics is just going like this 🤙 ?? Idk where that came from honestly but it's better than randomly hitting my face

Shoutout to my fellow Tourettics/ticcers who don’t know if they fit into the severe or minor tic categories.
People whose tics fluctuate to huge extremes.
People who are fully disabled by their tics some days, and have barely noticeable tics or no tics other days.
People who curse and scream and fall down some days, and only whistle and blink others.
People who have extreme tics for a moment and then have no tics the next.
Yall are valid. Your tics are valid. I know we sometimes feel weird or left out in even our own spaces, but I promise you belong here. You’re loved and welcomed here

Last day of Tourette’s awareness month! We’re still here though. We will always be here. Don’t forget about us and our struggles.
And to my fellow tourettics: I hope you have an awesome day! I hope you get to do whatever you want to do today!

Discovering the unholy sounds you are capable of making is such a weird tic experience. What do you mean I can make a horrible high pitched pterodactyl yapping sound

Hey! Has anyone made a Tourette’s/tic disorder community yet? I’d love to be a part of one if there is. If there isn’t one, I would love to perhaps make one!

I keep trying to think of posts to make for Tourette’s awareness month, but honestly my tics are in a pretty big waning period so I don’t have a ton to currently share. I suppose I can talk about what waning looks like for me!
So when I’m in a waning period like rn, my tics are almost completely gone. I’ve never counted, but I have only a handful of tics a day. Mostly whistling, blinking, rolling my eyes, popping my lips, and short screams. I do still have the occasional complex tic, but much less often than in a waxing period, and usually there’s a distinct trigger for it.
So there you go! Some info about my tics when I’m in a waning period! Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments, reblogs, or an ask! I’m always willing to share my experiences (but please be respectful if I don’t want to answer some questions). Or share your own experiences if you want! Love to hear from yall!
Happy Tourette’s awareness month!!! <3

Omg a fellow nerd with Tourette’s/tics! I used to have a tic (right around when the Loki tv show came out) where I said “Fuck your glorious purpose!”
I’ve definitely had others that I’m too tired to think of rn lol
I have a tic combo that causes me to say “thwp” and make the Spider-Man hand-sign-dealie at the some time
I also have a verbal tic about saying “I am Batman!” Loudly in the least threatening voice ever, a tic to do with saying “Robin” and then “Boy Wonder” interchangeably typically Robin three times, not necessarily in succession, and Boy Wonder 3 times, also not necessarily in succession), and a tic saying “Red Robin! Yuhmm” which is in reference to, you guessed it, the character Timothy Jackson Drake aka Red Robin
Gods help me I’m turing into a nerd
(Oh, I forgot I also have a tic that causes me to move my arm like when Bucky recalibrates his metal arm by moving it in a wide circular motion)

Was very brave and did my best to not suppress my tics on the public bus today. It was luckily a pretty chill tic day, so no one noticed. I tend to subconsciously suppress in public (especially when I’m by myself), so I count this as progress :)
Reminder that you’re allowed to tic in public, you’re allowed in public just as much as anyone else

So fun fact about me! Sometimes if I get overwhelmed or anxious or something, I will loose speech (also known as going nonverbal but we are changing that term so we don’t take it from people who are nonverbal always). I didn’t tend to this as a kid, but in my early teens it started to occasionally happen. It’s a relatively rare occurrence for me.
Also if anyone is curious, this doesn’t really affect my tics. I can still have vocal tics when I can’t talk, though I often have less.
Today I lost speech (still can just barely say anything) because the restaurant we went to was too loud, after I had already had a lot of conversation today and a last minute plan change (the restaurant we wanted to go to was unexpectedly closed). With the use of the minimal amount of ASL I know (and the even less my mom knows), facial expressions, body language, mouthing words, and messaging on my phone, we can still communicate pretty fine! Luckily the people I’m around are good at understanding and accommodating me. I didn’t even need to tell my mom I lost speech. She could just tell, and acted accordingly.
Anyway! No real point to this post. Just saying stuff. Feel free to ask questions or talk about your own experiences :)
