Captive Prince: Historical References and Naming Conventions
Hi all! I've had this idea in my head for a while now, and I finally had some time (and an Ancient Greek dictionary), so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've always been fascinated by Pacat's worldbuilding, particularly the naming conventions, and as a classicist myself, I wanted to dissect them. So that's what this is. My focus is mainly going to be on Akielos since I don't have as in-depth a knowledge of French, but I'll go through some Veretian names too (je n'ai pas étudié le français depuis deux années, mais Arles… je voudrais parler d'Arles…)
I'm not approaching this with any kind of formal, academic structure, so if something wonky gets through, please let me know! And lastly, I have no idea how many of these are intentional on Pacat's part. This analysis is less about authorial intent and more about how the associations inherent in these names can lend to our interpretation of the work. I'll also be doing this analysis over a few different posts since there is a lot I want to cover. For post #1:
Country Names
This post will solely feature Vere and Akielos since that's already a lot, but I will tackle Patras et. al. later on. There's some very interesting stuff there that I would be remiss not to look at. Of our subjects for today, Vere is the simpler, and the one I am absolutely certain Pacat intended, so I'll start with it.
Vere
Disclaimer: I am in love with this choice. The word itself is actually a Classical Latin adverb derived from the adjective "vērus," meaning "true," and in Latin it's spelled "vērē" (though you will not see those macrons in extant texts, those are a modern pronunciation and differentiation aid). Vērē can be translated a handful of ways; often it's used for emphasis, and in that case it's usually translated as "indeed," but "truly," "rightly," "exactly," and "truthfully" all work in different contexts. Extrapolate vērus and its derivatives for around a thousand years and you get the Old French word "verai" (ouah c'est vrai !) which means, well, "true."
It's also close in spelling and pronunciation to the modern French "verre," which means "glass," which isn't entirely relevant, but is cool. It makes me think of shiny, fragile displays of opulence like the Galerie des Glaces in Versailles.
The first reason I really like this name is that it calls back to Artes, the Roman-inspired kingdom that we're told once encompassed all of Vere and Akielos, while still fitting current Veretian (aka half-old-half-modern French) grammar and pronunciation. The second is, naturally, that it fits so well into the series' themes of truth, deception, and verisimilitude. The second we're introduced to Vere, and by extension Laurent, there's a subtle hint there that both he and his country are, at their core, more real, genuine, and truthful than Damen and Akielos. We're already building towards Damen's Kings Rising line, "I have never known a truer man." Even if you don't recognize the Latin, your brain will make the connection between Vere and verisimilitude later. It's perfect, 10/10 Pacat, could not have done it better.
And just for fun: a Latin example!
Commentarii de Bello Civili, 2:27. Latin and English available here.
Hi, sive vere quam habuerant opinionem ad eum perferunt, sive etiam auribus Vari serviunt…
Loeb Translation: "Whether they convey to him the opinion that they really held, or whether they only flatter his ears…" (165)
Slightly more literal translation (by me): "Whether these ones truly convey to him the opinion as they held it, or rather are subservient to Varius' ears…"
Akielos
The name "Akielos" is a lot more… nebulous. I don't know if there is a Greek print of Captive Prince, but my guess is it would be spelled Άκιελος (modern Greek speakers please weigh in, I'm only a year or so into Ancient Greek so I haven't really touched accent marks). That doesn't map neatly to any modern or ancient greek word—at least that I know of. What is does remind me of is Ἀχιλῆος (Achileos) from Ἀχιλλεύς (Achilleus), aka, Achilles. They're so close that I actually realized lately I had unconsciously been pronouncing Akielos as "Akileos" for a while; and in fact, this makes the Veretian spelling "Achelos" make a bit more sense. English and French both use a hard "ch" to represent χ in Greek words; so I imagine, in universe, that the word might actually be spelled Άχιελος. It wouldn't even surprise me if this was the way Pacat originally wanted to spell it, but had to change it for ease of comprehension.
I did have some other interpretations of the name, but I think this is the strongest. Because in addition to the obvious association, the name Ἀχιλλεύς is thought to be derived from the words ἄχος, "distress/grief" and λαός, "people," making it either "the grief" or "grief of/to the people" depending on who you ask (you rely on cases for that sort of distinction in Greek and they're not exactly present here. iykyk).
I really like the idea of Akielos being associated with grief; we're first introduced to it as a country in mourning, and then later on, as the cause of grief in Delfeur. And then you have the association with Achilles, himself a prolific brother killer, who Pacat references later in 'The Fall of Inachtos,' our in-universe Iliad. Insane levels of grief on grief on grief. Plus, because it looks closer to the genitive form, I automatically associate it with the opening line of the Iliad:
μῆνιν ἄειδε θεὰ Πηληϊάδεω Ἀχιλῆος
menin aeide thea Peleiadeo Achileos
Sing, goddess, the anger of Achilles, Peleus' son
So we can throw a little rage into the equation. As a treat.
Also important to note that the -os there is a masculine ending. It doesn't have the most bearing, but it does mean that if we want to be strictly accurate to Ancient (and modern!) Greek grammar, I have to throw a quick article in front of it, making our final "how do the Akielons spell Akielos?" answer: ὁ Άχιελος ("ho Achielos"). The ὁ here is equivalent to le in French, with the major distinction being that in French, you don't typically need an article in front of a proper noun, whereas you do in Greek.
That's it for today's analysis! See you guys next time around for Patras, Artes, and (maybe) Arles, Ios, and Delfeur/Delpha.

Hello dear! About your last DD post, YES GOD SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT, I fucking hate that take so much. And I saw one attached to the thought that Dex is looking at Matt to be his new “north star”. What?? The “north star” method was used by his psychiatrist to control him, it could never lead to him finding a path to redemption because Matt would definitely not hesitate to use it against him for his own purposes again, because as you said, he hates his guts, and wants nothing more than his downfall (pun not intended, oops). Matt can be ruthless to get what he wants, as per what happened to Julie, and in Fisk's case, he kept threatening to get to Vanessa too, which hey, it's pretty illegal according to law (and he has been doing it since season 2, in that prison scene! Where Vanessa still had no prior involvement in Fisk's criminal organization!).
So backing up what you said about counterarguments against this, I love my man Matt, he can be even more of an asshole to the ones he loves/cares about and I will still love him, and yet there's lots of stuff he shouldn't be defended about lol. It's perfect for what the og show wanted to accomplish.
I get that Wilson Bethel shines in the role and brings sympathy to a character who partly deserves it, every good villain needs that. Still, if Fisk won't be redeemed neither should he (never would want them to, they did all that shit and I love them for it). And Dex/Matt relationship in Born Again makes less sense to me if it's Dex mirroring himself in Matt and wants Matt to see that, to catch that glimpse of empathy. “In another life you might’ve defended me” it doesn't feel like Dex is hopeful Matt might “save him”, but rather he's speaking to Matt like he sees the Fisks in him.
In a perfect world, Born Again would acknowledge that, the fact Bullseye still feels like Matt is not sorry for his methods, about using Julie, instead of straight up jumping to him being a temporary ally. But oh well.
Damn, I'm so sorry for the long ramble! Feel free to ignore this lolo. Hope you have a nice day!
Hey rambling is nice sometimes, and my inbox is open for a reason. lol. ♥
Referencing [this post].
Matt is such an amazing main character (who sucks) because he breaks away from the formula of so many two-dimensional heroes to make some legitimately unhinged choices. Not only does he have extreme anger issues, but he does enjoy hurting people. He'll also get such tunnel vision, he sometimes makes cruel choices to serve the "just" conclusion. He's awful, just awful, to friends and loved ones. No one's doing it like him. If he killed, he'd be a bona fide antihero, and he pushes the envelope as much as he can without taking that final plunge. So yes, I love calling him out on the bad he does. Because it makes him interesting, and characters have to be interesting. It's their whole purpose.
The idea of Matt being Dex's north star... I mean, full disclaimer, I do believe people can/should do whatever fanon or fics they want. But there's that, yeah, and then there's canon. And I like a healthy understanding of which is which. Like how canonically there's no chance Matt purposefully helped Dex knock a tooth loose so he could kill people and escape, but if someone wants to write that fic, godspeed. I like evil Matt sometimes. (There's at least some justification for Matt winding him up in 3x13 because it helped get at Fisk. But Matt setting him loose in BA 1x08 and accepting the potential murders just because he felt sorry for him? The best friend murderer?) I don't think it was any more intentional than the comic with the same gimmick. Matt just likes hitting him. lol.
Tumblr media
[Daredevil (2023) #4]
Anyway, north star. I don't know if you've watched Jessica Jones, but I'm reminded of the episode in S1 where Jessica makes Kilgrave do a good deed. Then he decides he'd like to do more of it, so long as Jessica is always by his side telling him what to do because he lacks all empathetic instincts to do it himself. She genuinely considers going through with it but decides she can't/won't and that he's too dangerous. That's what I imagine for Matt and Dex in such a scenario. Even if Matt could get Dex to do as he says and follow his examples, it puts an undue burden on Matt to constantly monitor his actions. (Like how in a fight together, Matt tries to ensure Frank doesn't kill anyone bad, but with Dex there's even more to fret over because he'll kill the bad and the good with little/no compunction.) Not to mention that Matt would be a horrible example to follow. Because he goes too far a lot of the time. It's only his own unique moral code that stops him from taking the final step. And Dex doesn't have that, so realistically, Matt would run himself ragged constantly keeping Dex from crossing the line. (If someone wants to imagine it anyway, that's great. Variety is the spice of life. But I can't see it working well, if at all, or longterm.) There also remains the real potential in such a scenario, as you say, for Matt manipulating Dex and using him to his own advantage. Because he already has.
What's more, it would undo the character development path Dex was on following DD S3. He was really coming into his own as Bullseye in the finale. It was good. Everyone was happy. Even BA 1x01 held up this trajectory. And then scenes from the last two eps of BA come along like they wanna reset him. 👎
I can't begin to know what bull-hockey BA has planned for S2, but I'd say sometimes a spade really is a spade. Matt isn't pretending to hate Dex. He genuinely hates Dex so so much. He has a mountain of reasons why and none for why not. Like even if Vanessa ordered Foggy's death, Dex still pulled the trigger. (And killed ten other people that night. Plus the mayhem of S3 and killing of Lantom.) I do ship DexMatt. I've shipped it since S3, mostly amidst the sound of crickets. But it's a hateful, spiteful, toxic thing. And I do believe if BA writes any sort of semi-redemption "enemy of my enemy" arc where Matt teams up with him for S2 (versus them attacking Fisk independently/simultaneously), they've lost the plot. They truly don't understand or care about Matt's character. They just want something that subverts expectation and looks cool.
And I will retreat to the sweet, sweet existing logic of Matt willing to work with Fisk (who even now in BA has given Matt less reasons to hate him than Dex) before he utterly draws the line at Bullseye. Because he hates him so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Daredevil (1998) #86]
I'm aware these are different realities with different versions of the characters, but Earth-199999 gives zero evidence for and no reason why its Matt would feel warmer towards Dex than 616 Matt does towards Bullseye. What because of his documented mental health issues? Matt didn't care about that in S3 before Dex killed his friend. Why would he care now?
The above comic reaction is because Bullseye killed Karen on a job (unintentionally). Don't tell me he wouldn't feel just as strong when Dex killed Foggy on a job (intentionally). To say Matt can overlook it now is like saying he cares less about Foggy. (Also, if BA brings Foggy back just to ease Matt's conscience so he can work with Dex, I vote we chuck the whole reboot in the nearest bin. That would be such bad writing. You can't give yourself such a sloppy convenience. This is yet another reason they should have brought Foggy back in S1 if they were going to. That way they can demonstrate it's unrelated.)
If BA S2 wants to have Matt use Dex like a wrecking ball, just as he did in S3, maybe. If it's done well. But actually treating him like an ally would be so bad. Just bad. Rinse the taste out of my mouth bad. But it does seem like they want to siphon any humanity from Fisk's character (make a one-tone villain) and pump it into Dex (overly sympathized), so I also wouldn't put it past them. They seem to want a narrative of elevating Fisk's villainy past reason (there's that MCU too-much gene) to have a really united front against him (still trying to recreate Avengers 2012). Neither Fisk nor Dex deserve redemption, like you say. You know that one post that's like, "Free my man. He did all of it but I don't care," or whatever. I'm over here like, "Lock him up! Lock his a** up!" 📣 (On a personal level, I don't care. For fic or AU reasons, I'll break him out, but by all means, canon, hold my man accountable. 👏) All I want for Fisk is a little more of the pre-existing humanity BA stripped from him.
Anyway, yeah! Dex is who he is. Matt is who he is. I'm not gonna look away when I don't like it. Baby girl, I'll put a spotlight on it. Complex, human characters are the last stronghold against flat slop.
Thanks for the ask. (◕‿◕✿) Have a good one. ♥

if your ocs were bosses in a video game, what do you think their boss fight would be like?
#red rambles#im thinking about this with mine and curious what other people have thought up#sidebar: i have been thinking about things like 'mechamics' and 'the kinds of attacks they'd use' and 'phases' and 'gimmicks'#i havent detailed them all here because i figured it wouldn't be what other people wanted to read#unfortunately it seems also everyone else thinks this. i want to hear about your mechanics....#so i guess ill go add mine in#kit and kat would be a pair of optional bosses who you fight together - kit a dex build who moves into a strength+dex combo in her second#phase; she doesn't get a second health bar#but it gets dramatically harder to hit her and she stops getting stunned nearly as easily in the second phase#and her hits get much harder#KAT (her gimmick partner) also has a second phase#if you haven't killed Kit before you activate Kat's second phase#(Kat gets a second health bar) she teleports herself and Kit out of the boss fight arena and (as they're optional)#this technically means you can progress but you get no winnings#and the next time you come back they're there again#im imagining them like ds1r havel where he's just like in a shortcut. they're camping a door#anyway you have to fully kill Kit to#get to kill Kat#and her second phase will activate when Kit dies in that case#and she'll go from infrequent but hard-hitting long-distance attacks to frequent long-distance attacks with less intensity behind them#and a set of melee attacks that do a lot of damage but require her to grapple you so if you don't get grabbed you're alright#meanwhile rex (the other one i discussed on discord) is a mainline boss who keeps dying and then just showing up again but he dies like#his ass is DEAD he's not walking off he DIES. okay?#you have to kill him at least twice for the mainline quest and there's even more optional places you can kill him#the first three or four sequential fights (only one of which is mainline) he's human the whole time#the second mainline fight he changes forms and his second phase is in dragon form#and he doesn't get a second health bar or anything but he does get aoe fire attacks#and gets to visibly take damage at increasing levels before you kill him#he also has a mechanic where on his last dot of health he can absorb like 4x the normal amount of damage#so when he should be one hit away from death he is in fact four or five hits away from death

warmup doodle of vice kings anteros since i think i promised i’d draw him. outfit based on early VK concept art and john galliano menswear f/w 2004 lol
like i said in my other post about VK anteros, i think they’d be the gang he’d most likely end up affiliated with had the saints not found him first because the VK (more specifically tanya) already owned the hood where TnA was at. since anteros worked there for several years prior to the start of sr1, he probably already knew of tanya. i imagine in the universe where he is a VK, he’s probably more or less tanya’s assistant. honestly i don’t think they’d get along, but that contention makes things interesting right

my probably stupidest pokemon take at the present moment is that i actively do not want to get the sv upgrades on the switch 2. like yeah the performance upgrades are nice but i hate them increasing the spawn cap. you could cycle through pokemon encounters so ridiculously quickly in base sv that it just straight up took the fun out of shiny hunting for me with how quick and easy most hunts wound up being. and now they're making it even easier? idk, i know how insane this probably sounds to most pokemon fans, but it genuinely makes me less interested in picking sv up again.

The woman didn't have time to clock his criticism, or what he had actually said, really. The woman was able to come to a stop, her breath ragged as she turned to the other, missing his murderous leap and only witnessing the aftermath.
Yet that was a mistake apparently.
The ungodly chittering only grew louder behind her, the rumbling in the sand becoming too much to ignore.
Whether it was pure luck or the fact that she was already on edge, she was able to leap out of the way of the voidsent leaping from the sands, claws clearly trying to grab at the girl.
Surprisingly enough she was able to roll in a way that allowed her to remain on her feet, crouched but keeping her wits about her as she followed the fins. By chance, any steel had remained untouched amongst the viscera of the townsfolk, noting an unkempt kopesh close to her. If her Teacher had seen the state of it, he would have had her tend to it at once...but right now, she couldn't care less.
She quickly went to retrieve it, trying desperately to ignore the tacky feel of drying blood. The lessons of her master came into play, taking a more defensive stance with the blade while she could feel each beat of her own heart, causing the hold to shake slightly.
She doubted she could actually even make a dent on the damn creatures, but she had to do something.
"Stop swearing, hrdnn." Aatrox muttered as the child approached flickering from view every few paces as she tore more magic from that infernal necklace of hers. The fact that he'd even referred to the girl as a child should have chilled him, and only reinforced his desire towards the murder of all living things, yet the battle was such fun that Aatrox truly hadn't even noticed the slip.
As the girl skidded underneath the legs of the great monster, Aatrox in turn performed an incongruous pirouette, flicking both legs out as he leapt, growing blades from both feet to impale two lunging monsters simultaneously.
As he landed, blood sheeting down his legs from the cascade of viscera, he turned to see another of the larger monsters bearing down on the girl, still struggling to regain her footing following her desperate flight.

I love that they’re leaving in little side questions and comments this season and not just cutting it all
Zac’s first moves in combat with the grit points and figuring out the damage
the whole mechanic conversation about the boost to dex saves while having 1/4+ cover
the little discussion about advantage while prone vs disadvantage with a ranged weapon
I want all the casual discussions, give them to meeeeee

This scene highlights Dex’s true morals
He doesnt understand why exactly its wrong to tell this guy to kill his stepdad, if hes causing him so much trouble hes debating suicide. However, he knows its not right to say that socially speaking, so when he remembers hes around people (julie especially) he changes what he was gonna say.
Lets get freudian for a second and discuss the psychological structure of that.
His ID craves the violence, its carnal, instinctual almost.
His superego is weak, meaning that hes only cares about fitting in on the outside, he feels no real guilt or shame about any of these thoughts.
His ego is what keeps his ID under control, and keeps those sociopathic thoughts in purely because its whats in his best interest.
I really wanna see more moments like this with him because getting a glimpse into his psyche makes me like him infinitely more.

Feeling overworked? Have soft Levi as a treat.
Tumblr media
You, a tired student taking classes on top of working the night shift, are coming home to the apartment you share with Hange. Their friends are there again, which isn’t abnormal since they always make time to study together even though they have differing majors. One doesn’t even attend your school; he owns the cafe right outside campus.
The exception is Hange’s boyfriend, Moblit. He practically lives here with you two, so he’s always at the gatherings. And breakfast. And most dinners.
When you walk in, it’s well past sundown. You kick off your shoes and debate grabbing a protein bar for dinner before getting distracted by the rowdiness in the living room. The squad is discussing over a battle map laid out on the thrifted coffee table. Everyone but Miche sits on cushions on the floor to reach their pieces around the game board.
When you walk over behind your roommate(s), Hange greets you brightly as Moblit flips through the large book in front of him, muttering the name of the spell Hange has requested to cast. ‘ah, yes, they’ll need to make a DEX save for that—’
Erwin smiles at you, asking about your day, and you shrug it off good-naturedly. Nothing interesting to report back about. Hange shifts up to their knees and grabs the protractor from the end of the table. “Roomie! You should sit in for a bit, make sure we’re playing right.”
You debate with yourself only a little before agreeing. Earning a few chuckles from your reply, “Think you can’t do addition?”
In your usual routine, by now you’d be sprawled across your unmade bed, stripped of your day clothes but not ready to put on your work uniform. Maybe you’d be scrolling mindlessly on your phone or shutting your eyes for a quick hour that only feels like a few minutes.
But the company is good, and you get along with your roommate’s friends just fine, so you make your way around Erwin and Hange to perch on the open spot next to Miche on the opposite side of the table, above where Levi happened to be leaning against the couch.
“I think the energy is calmer over here.” Is your quiet explanation as you step toward Levi’s spot on the floor. He’s quick to lean up and, after you perch on the couch, he rests back where your leg would be if you hadn’t tucked it underneath yourself.
Miche huffs a laugh, leaning forward to check his paper. “You’re definitely right about that.”
With everyone a little distracted by the phrasing of the rules, Levi carefully tips his head back to rest against the couch, peeking up at you upside-down.
“You have work tonight?”
“In a few hours.” Your voice is soft when you answer.
Today may not have been more challenging than any other day, but the accumulation of your entire work week on top of classes weighs you down enough to really feel it in your body. Thankfully, today is your last shift before your two-day break.
Then you’ll have time for the paper due on Monday.
Yay.
“You should eat.”
“I can get something when I’m there.”
His nose wrinkles, “Vending machine crap isn’t going to help you.”
It’s not the first time he’s mentioned this to you. You’ve argued before that your breakroom has a kiosk with little sandwiches and cups of fruit in the fridge. He claims it doesn’t help when you buy an energy drink alongside your ‘rodent food’.
Usually, Hange is the one drawing his ire, for good reason, but he’s been known to lash out at every one of his friends once in a while, for good intentions and purposes. You do notice that he speaks to you a little differently, a little more gently.
It’s probably because you two aren’t as close as they all are; you’re still somewhat of an outsider. Or maybe you looked as thoroughly wrecked as you feel, and someone other than customers or professors scolding you just seemed cruel.
Moblit drags Levi’s and your attention back as he finalizes the outcome of Hange’s character’s spell attack. And they Whoop! when three of their enemies are burnt to a crisp.
Their little party ends up going through a few more rooms of the castle they’re exploring before Levi stands up to grab a drink. When Moblit asks you a technical GM’s question, you see Hange smirk and sneakily show Erwin something they wrote on their paper. Only to have their face fall when Erwin smiles and points at something on his.
Levi comes back with drinks and your bag of trail mix, which he must have taken from the pantry. He gives one drink to Erwin and sits down in front of you again, offering the bag to you over his shoulder.
He’s closer than before. His side pressed against your leg. When you take the bag, your fingers brush, and he glances back at you with a soft look. That’s how Levi was. Caring and protective, even if you wouldn’t expect it from someone so irritable.
And damn. Sometimes it just felt good to be seen.
You picked through the mix of nuts as you sat silently for the next twenty minutes until their session came to an end. It was quite an entertaining group. Moblit was doing a great job of storytelling, in your opinion, even with Hange—and sometimes Erwin’s—unconventional ideas. Everyone had a good connection to their characters, roleplaying and fighting together as a team. You could feel their enjoyment as they packed up.
“Heading to work, roomie?” Hange asked offhandedly.
You looked at the time. “...Yeah, I’m going to get ready to go.”
Levi stayed seated against you while gathering his things. The atmosphere tonight urged you to be a little braver than usual, and you hesitantly placed a hand on his shoulder. He was warm. Almost shockingly so compared to your cold fingers.
Soothed by just a touch, you imagined how nice his hugs must be.
When he looked at you, something different was in his eyes. But oddly enough, it didn’t feel different somewhere in your subconscious. Maybe he’d looked at you like this before.
With a smile, you mouthed ‘thank you’. For the trail mix, for his attunement to your needs, for him.
He nodded, and with the movement, you could catch the dark circles underneath his eyes. He was known to pull all-nighters himself, but it was difficult for people to notice if—or when—it got to him.
Slowly, you both move so you can get around the table. The chatter of your roommate’s friends fades as you enter your room. The only thing on your mind as you dress and leave for work is what you could do in return to show your appreciation for Levi.

>> This is way longer than I meant it to be, and I threw the ending together as I move into my new apartment.
+ I just realized this fits in with a little coffee shop story I was thinking of, so maybe you’ll see more of them in the future.

WHAT IS THIS?
In one week's time I will be livestreaming a retro monster roster speedrun! For donations to my two chosen causes, i'll sprite your monster idea and add it to this dex! Please check out the event server for more information on how to participate:
Or read below the cut for information on the causes we will be supporting. My sincere thanks go out to the friends who have helped me set this up, and who have already pledged donations so generously beyond my wildest hopes. I can't wait to see what we make together and how far we can take this. Every day for the next week I'll be sharing this again with additional information about the event, the mons, and answering any questions!

Cause 2, Tlatoanitsin, David Marcelino Cayetano
For a while now I have been taking lessons in a language called Náhuatl, an indigenous language of Mexico. Like many indigenous languages it is in imminent danger of extinction. David Marcelino Cayetano is a teacher, filmmaker, and artist, and his life's work is to preserve and pass down this language and culture. I met him when I asked to join one of his classes, and despite being far from the intended audience he welcomed me magnanimously. He has been my teacher since then. I am deeply grateful to be learning from him, and I am increasingly conscious of the heavy burden he faces in trying to prevent the extinction of his language and culture. I would love to help support his efforts.
You can read an interview with him, where he discusses his motivations and difficulties, here 👇 https://www.sinembargo.mx/4242117/david-cayetano-una-lucha-por-preservar-el-nahuatl-desde-su-ensenanza-y-el-cine/ Or see his videos/educational posts here 👇 https://www.youtube.com/@Tlatoanitsin https://www.instagram.com/tlatoanitsin/
