Someday, Someday...

Dewey slumped tiredly in a chair, he watched as the blankets slowly lifted and fell as three ducklings lay asleep. He smiled softly as his eyes slowly started to fall shut, his mind was about to shut down when a few murmurs came from the far left side of the blanket. Dewey sighed as he got up and walked towards his youngest, he gently picked the child up and started cradling her gently, “Dear Morgan, what to say to you?.....” He brushed his fingers across the child’s face.

“you have my eyes, you have your mothers name.” Dewey spun a round slowly “when you came into the world you cried, and it broke my heart...” He hummed a few notes swaying from side to side before singing again “I’m dedicating every day to you...” he paused as he looked towards della and Donald who were still sound asleep “domestic life was never quite my style” he felt Morgan grab at his fingers as she smiled brightly “when you smile...you knock me out I fall apart, and I thought I was so smart...” he brought Morgan closer as he placed a hand on her back.

“you will come of age with our young nation..”

He continued to sway with the music that was playing in his head, “We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you..” Dewey placed a kiss on Morgan’s forehead “if we lay a strong enough foundation.. We'll pass it on to you..” he watched as She slowly started to fall asleep “we'll give the world to you And you'll blow us all away..” He started to walk back towards the bed “someday.... someday...” Dewey placed her gently on the bed, removing his hand and replacing it with a stuffed bear.

“Yeah, you’ll blow us all way... someday... someday...”

He smiled gently as he watched her fondly, he was about to leave when he noticed Donald gripping onto the sheets. He sighed, nightmares aren’t new for the duck family but they certainly weren’t pleasant. Dewey placed a hand on Donald’s head, the touch seemed to calm the duckling down yet he was still gripping tightly to the sheets. “Oh Donald, you outshine the morning sun... my son..” he began to sing quietly again, this time he was able to watch Donald relax slowly.

“look at my son.. pride is not the word I’m looking for..” He placed a kiss on his cheek, seeing Donald completely relax at the small gesture “There is so much more inside me now..”

Dewey looked toward della and held her hand in his

“oh della, you shine bright just like the sun, my one.. when you smile, I fall apart.. and I thought I was so smart..”

Dewey stood up, removing his hand from Dellas grip. He walked forward before leaning on the wall and sliding down to the floor “my father wasn’t around...” he closed his eyes as flashbacks started playing through his mind, he opened them again and looked toward the bed “I swear that I’ll be around for you..” he looked back at his hands “I’ll do whatever it takes..” he balled them into fists “I’ll make a million mistakes..”

He pushed himself up from the ground, looking straight at the bed “I'll make the world safe and sound for you” he smiled brightly as he started to pick things up from the floor “Will come of age with our young nation. We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you” he looked at his kids, putting the loose bits and bobs away “If we lay a strong enough foundation.. we’ll pass it on to you..” Dewey brushed the dust off of his shirt before walking towards the door “we'll give the world to you And you'll blow us all away..”

His voiced turned into a hush whisper after he walked out of the room ”someday... someday...” he was about to sing the last part when he was cut off by another voice “yeah they’ll blow us all away...” Dewey stared at violet who was smiling slightly, she took his hand in hers before pulling him closer.

“Someday... someday....”

the two sang in sync as they pressed foreheads, smiling at each other.

So Here’s My Dewlet Family

Still suck at drawing, so here’s another aesthetic board:

I totally feel like Dewlet is the kind of couple to have like 10 kids and be overly involved in every single one of their lives. But, you know, ten is a lot, so I’ve only got four little next gen birds for you- Ty, Blaze, Rainey, and Clayton. More about them under the cut!

Ty(phoon) - 16:

Ty is the oldest of the Dewlet kids, and takes a lot after his mom both in looks and personality

Dewey absolutely insisted they needed to give their child an epic name just because he felt so cheated on that front himself, and Violet reluctantly agreed as long as it was an actual name

Hense Typhoon

Ty really just prefers his nickname though

Even his mom honors that one

Ty isn't necessarily super extroverted, but he is an excellent leader and inherited his father's passion and insane motivation for pretty much everything

He really knows how to deal with people- probably due to growing up with so many siblings

He’s the main peacemaker in the house

He has a bit of his uncle's "annoyed at the world" attitude, but he's more inclined to fix it than him for sure

He's on his phone almost constantly

But as a result he's the most tech savvy one in the family

He's also pretty comfortable in the kitchen!

He likes to make fun treats for his siblings and is always experimenting with new ideas and flavors

He's also pretty close with his cousin Bethany

He's only a year younger than her, and they run in some of the same circles at school, so they tend to see a lot of each other

Blaze and Rainey - 13:

The twins are quite the handful and have been at each other's throats from day one

They have their mother's beak, and their father's white feathering with the exception of some colored hair and fingertips

After naming the first kid after the wind, Violet agreed to continue the element theme as long as Dewey toned down the ridiculous-factor of the names a bit

So, fire and water were the next elements on the table - and they think they may have named them backwards

Rainey is definitely her father's daughter

She's extremely impulsive, reckless, and outspoken

She's in pretty much all the sports, but absolutely loves soccer

She practically inhales any food you put in front of her and drinks chocolate milk almost religiously

Big screaming child energy

Blaze on the other hand is the quiet one of the family

She loves her personal space and her down time

But she can really come out of her shell when around her friends

She loves to draw and has a real artistic eye

She's also a theater techie - she does a bit of everything, but she's really finding her place as a lighting technician

Though they're definitely best friends, these sisters get in the most petty fights with each other

They are the main source of friction in the family

But they always work it out

Luckily for their parents, neither of them are really capable of holding down a grudge

Clayton - 8:

Clayton, the earth child who completes the obligatory naming pattern, is the baby of the family and is absolutely adorable

He's the only one with his father's bill and has some adorable speckled feathering

He is a total charmer and knows how to work a crowd- he's just one of those kids

Probably going to end up doing do all the performance art stuff at some point- acting, show choir, dance… stand up comedy? Who knows.

Right now he's in a bit of a magic trick stage

Definitely the most likely to be famous one day out of the family

He is extremely sensitive though

He gets discouraged pretty easily

In his defense though- he is only 8

I made a Huebby family

Cuz I hate myself and insist on making content for dying ships...

Anyway, I suck at drawing, have an aesthetic board instead:

The family consists of Huey and Webby, married after a few years out of high school, Boyd, the lovable robot who is adopted by yet another new set of parents, and Bethany, their biological daughter (and oldest of my next gen of duck cousins).

Anyway, more about the kids under the cut!

Boyd:

Boyd does not age, so naturally caring for an eternal 10 year old gets to be a bit taxing for Gyro, especially as he gets older and further entrenched in his work

Having not really thought about having kids yet, Huey suggest to Webby that they take Boyd in

He and Boyd have always been friends, and being the next person give him a home just seems right to him

Webby is excited by the idea, although she is super nervous about being a mother 

She’s never had a mom before, and didn’t have an exactly healthy childhood herself but she’s comforted by the idea of a robot child - much harder to inadvertently harm

Boyd is so very happy to have his best friend as his dad

They have a lot of fun little father son outings

Dad is definitely the fun one, but that also means he has a bit of a hard time disciplining him cuz they’re still just kinda buddies

As much as he loves his dad though, he is arguably more entranced by the idea of having a mom

He’s never had a real mother figure in his life before, so Webby is like this heavenly being descended from the clouds in his eyes

She is the only one who can calm him down- he loves it when she sings to him

And Webby is a great mom, she puts forth an ungodly amount of effort into raising this thing, but she’s admittedly not that great at stereotypical mom stuff

Her cooking kinda sucks, she’s super scatterbrained, and not great with child endangerment

But Boyd is a very forgiving child, so even when she’s crying over how terribly something’s turned out, he gives her a big ol’ hug and tells her how much he loves her

Boyd is also one of those kids who just drops profound truths on his parents all the time

“It’s okay mom, you tried your best, and that’s what’s most important, right?”

They love their little droid baby

Bethany:

Bethany is born about 2 years after Boyd is first adopted. 

She's named after her mother, Englabeth - although Huey isn't fully aware they've named their child after an inside joke yet

Bethany is very soft spoken, but she has a lot of energy and enthusiasm- she really isn’t shy

She wears her hair in a lot of low ponytails and loves the color pink, just like her mom!

Boyd has never had siblings before, so when Bethany is first born he is very excited to have a baby sister, but he basically has to be baby proofed- rockets aren't exactly safe for small children

His parents have to teach him to be gentle around her and he eventually works up to a place where they feel comfortable letting him watch her

He flips out over every little thing she does though, child care is, understandably, not part of his original programming so he does not understand any of the logic of this tiny little person

As she grows up they become the absolute best of friends

They are both pretty well behaved kids so they don't often get into trouble, but together they seem more emboldened to disobey their parents

There have been many times where they snuck out together and things didn't exactly end well

As she grows older than her brother she becomes very conscious of their family situation, realizing that her brother will never grow up like she will

This kind of kicks her into an adulthood mindset really quickly

She gets very protective of her brother, starts taking on new responsibilities, and becomes kind of a workaholic

In high school, she’s a super overachiever- all honors classes, extracurriculars (in the form of student council, orchestra, choir), excessively studies, always helping someone else with their homework, that sort of thing

Huey is extremely proud of her as he was the exact same way in high school, although he does always push her to take time to go out with friends more and… you know, sleep

She understandably grows an interest in programming and would love for it to become her career one day

That’s what I got for now. My Dewlet fam is next ;)
