Miasma, make sure you aren't thinking about Imperator cock warming Dew and getting him off only with her kegels. 🔔
I am not thinking of her calling him into her office one afternoon and telling him to sit in her stately desk chair and get it out and hard for her.
I am also not thinking about her lifting her perfectly pressed skirt, moving her panties to the side to show him that she's already slicked herself up.
I am also also not thinking of Dew sinking his claws into the arms of her chair when she sinks onto him with a firm order not to touch or distract - she has far too much work to do for such things.
And I am most CERTAINLY not thinking of the increasingly pained, desperate sounds he'd try to keep in when she starts to squeeze around him. Over and over, for a few more seconds each time, until his legs are trembling and he's gritting his teeth oh she's going to be so upset when he pops before she even gets to her third set of reps...
CERTAINLY NOT

Dewdrop: Do you feel like doing something? Aether: I don't think so, firefly, my love. It's too fucking hot. What do you have in mind? Dewdrop: Sister Imperator is on a business trip with Copia all day, so I was going to go into her office, shut the windows, turn the fans off, and hide a dead Wolverine in there. No More Sunshine…. || Ghost
[there are a lot of time jumps in this piece. Lots of it is one of the girls looking back at the past, realizing how much light sunshine brought to them]
[Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6SUSAYetOdHSWo3UiTYH8q?si=001bd5c700af413e
Cumulus and Cirrus did not want Sunshine to go. But Sister was serious, the two of them watched as Sunshine was dragged down the corridor, knowing this would probably be the last time they get to see sunshine for a while. It was at that moment that they realized they could be next….
[ Two Weeks Earlier ]
“Cirrus stop!” Sunshine was yelling while Cirrus was tickling her sides furiously. Sunshine was rolling on the floor, her feet kicking aimlessly. The two of them so distracted that they didn’t notice the third ghoulette enter the room. The laughter fills the air, Cumulus’ face lights up as she realizes whats playing out. “OOOHHH, TICKLE TIME” Cumulus shouts while almost tackling the two ghouls on the floor. Her soft tail flicks around like a cat waiting to pounce onto the red dot of a laser pointer. Soon, Cirrus finds herself on the ground, being tickled mercilessly by Cumulus. The room fills with warmth as the girls all have fun while periodically ganging up on eachother. After a while, the laughter dies down and they all lay on the floor, chests heaving up and down. All of the girls have smiles on their faces, laying on the cool marble of the piano room in the ministry. The smiles that they wanted to last forever before they heard the all too familiar clacking of Sisters high heels on the tile.
The feeling in the room shifts as the door creaks open, a familiar face looking at the three girls, “Try to be quiet, Nihil is trying to rest,” Her voice echoed in the room. The girls nodded their heads trying to not look scared, once Sister was happy with their response, she turned away, and closed the door, the heels clicking down the hallway, till they could no longer hear.
[two weeks later- back in the corridor]
Sunshines feet trying to grip onto the floor to get her footing, tears streaming down her face. “No! Please! I can’t be on tax duty this soon!!” her voice is straining from crying and yelling.Cumulus and Cirrus shake at the sight.
Cumulus’ eyes fill with tears, as a lump forms in her throat, she screams “NO WHY.” The shrill fills the air, and suddenly the corridor goes quiet. Sister looks over her shoulder, smirking, as the Sunshine ghoul lays limp.
[ four days before ]
“Guys, I think Sister hates me,” Sunshine whispers, her body hunched over. The girls show a sign of confusion on their faces. “I don’t think she likes me at the rituals, I’m too-” suddenly the heels clack down the hallways, getting louder, before getting softer again, “I’m too troublesome.” Sunshine looks down at her lap, Cirrus looks at her. “That's not true Sunny,” Cirrus’ hand rubs the small of sunshines back. Cumulus’ arms wrap around both of them. “You are a valuable member, and you are like a sister to the both of us” Cirrus’ voice cracks lightly, as she plants a soft kiss onto Sunshines forehead.
“You can stay with us,” Cumulus’ voice rings softly, “Stay with us forever Sunny.” Cumulus’ arms tremble around the two other ghouls. Her eyes squeeze shut, the thought of losing Sunshine or Cirrus breaks her heart, a tear rolls down her cheek lightly.
“I just can’t go back to that place” Sunshine chokes on her words. Hell was very rough on her, the poor ghoul had to claw herself out of that pit.
[ 2 years prior- Sunshines summoning]
The voice screamed as the ghoul clawed its way out of the pit. Its summoning was the longest, most difficult summoning yet. The ghouls were tired of this hours ago, but they couldn’t just give up yet. If they gave up the ghoul would fall down into the depths, being burned and stabbed as they fell, to a second death. A much more painful death.
“Veni ad me. in tenebris manebis.” The ghouls continue chanting, their hands clasped together. Cumulus and Cirrus’ knees grow weak, Swiss and aether basically holding them up. As time goes on all the ghouls continue chanting, and slowly we see the new ghoul emerge. Her body is small, but slowly unveils itself.
Her feet plant themselves on the ground, as she gains her footing the other ghouls practically collapse around her from exhaustion. Her eyes dart around her, shes scared. One ghoul, Sodo, walks up to her, and welcomes her home with a hug. “Welcome home” his voice rings through the dark room.
“H-Home?” Her voice cracks softly, “What do you mean home” she looks around. This place doesn’t feel like home.
“This is where you belong” another voice rings out, this voice more nasal and sing-songy than Sodos. The new ghoul turns around to meet a man in blue robes, and face paint. She jumps back from fear.
“Who are you? Where am I? What's going on?” The new ghoul cries out, her knees hitting the tile floor beneath her. She feels a hand touch her shoulder, and she pushes it away. “D-Don’t touch me!” her voice shakes, she's scared, she's hurt.
“Oh goodness! I’m sorry little ghoul,” The man looks down at the ghoul, “You are in your new home now. The ministry.” He smiles, the new ghoul looks up at him, her eyes full of tears. She stands up slowly. Her head shakes slowly. “I dont have a home.”
[ 2 years later- sunshine being dragged down the corridor]
“STAY WITH ME” Cumulus screams, the kind of scream that digs at your throat. She’s failing to choke back tears, “PLEASE, JUST STAY, DONT GIVE UP,” her throat feels like she swallowed a cheese grater. She pushes herself out of Cirrus’ arms, trying to gain the ability to stand.
Her feet hit the floor, she levels herself and runs after Sunshine. Her body leaps towards her, grabbing Sunshines leg. “You are staying with me” Cumulus shakes. Sisters heels stop, she drops sunshine and turns around. Her face seems twisted, as her hand swats at cumulus.
“No, Sunshine has serious duties to attend to” Sisters voice echoed in the corridor. Sunshine’s body twitches before she looks up at Cumulus.
“It would be easier to just forget about me” Sunshine whispers. A tear falls down her dry cheek. “I don’t deserve a home, I didn’t deserve this wonderful ability to have,” she chokes on her words, “a family.” Her head falls back down. As Sister grabs her arm and starts pulling Sunshine back down the hallway.
“Please-” Cumulus watches as Sunshine is dragged away. She repeats herself “Please-” her voice growing more desperate for her friend.
Cirrus’ body raises to her feet, she walks to Cumulus. Resting a hand on her shoulder, Cumulus trembles under the touch of Cirrus.
“She can’t be gone” Cumulus sobs. Cirrus looks down at the crying ghoul, “She’s not gone. She’s just…. Away for now.” Cumulus wipes the tears from her eyes. Her face red, and burning. She thinks back to the night after Sunshines Summoning.
[ The Summoning- 10pm]
Cumulus and Cirrus welcome the new ghoul, Sunshine, to their room. “It’s not the biggest room in the ministry, but we love it!” Cumulus smiles brightly. Sunshine Smiles back at the short ghoul, still warming up to the new environment.
“Thank you” Sunshine whispers. Before sitting on the plan bed. Sunshine watches as Cumulus and Cirrus go and grab a bin from a drawer. The little bottles clack around as they both make their way over to Sunshine.
“Sooooo,” Cirrus starts giggling lightly, “we have a little tradition, whenever we get a new ghoul” Cirrus smiles, and cumulus hops onto the bed. Cirrus shoves the bin of nail polish at Sunshine. “Go ahead, pick a polish” Sunshines eyes scan over the polish options, she randomly picks a polish, examines it and then puts it back.
“This one” Sunshine smiles, the polish in her hand is a gorgeous black lacquer with yellow and gold sparkles throughout it. Cirrus grabs the polish and shakes it up, before grabbing Sunshines hand. Sunshine pulls her hand back causing Cirrus to look at her concerned. “I-I went through a lot in hell….” Sunshine looks down, and her entire posture shifts.
Cumulus looks at Sunshine “hey, its okay. You dont need to talk about what happened”
[ the corridor ]
The door closes behind Sunshines feet. The door that is labeled “Tax room” Both ghouls look at the door. Before standing up. Turning away from their now locked away friend.

In Memoriam
Rating: E
Pairing: Dewdrop/Sister Imperator
Word Count: 6.8k
Contains: grief, mourning, angst, hurt/comfort, sex in flashbacks, Dew coping with loss in the only way he knows how.
Beta'd by @iamthecomet <3<3<3
It may not be the first time he’s lost a Papa, but somehow this time is much worse than when it was Terzo. Probably because there hadn’t been much time to bond with Terzo before his untimely demise - a few months on the road hadn’t provided the best environment to form a relationship beyond Papa and ghoul.
Losing Copia, though, has proven to be a very different experience. It’s not like the man has actually gone anywhere, but the day he’d announced his appointment as Frater Imperator Dew’s stomach dropped through the floor. His natural stoicism had been the only thing that allowed Dew to join the others in congratulating him, but the overwhelming sense of loss he still feels casts the blackest shadow over that spark of joy, and as much as he doesn’t want to face it Dew knows exactly why.
To him, there will only ever be one Imperator.

Are You Warm Enough?
Nameless Ghouls x Fem!Reader
Warnings: None! Just fluff.
Summary: You fall asleep in the library, waking up in a ghouls arms. You then end up in a ghoul pile.
A/N: This is quite short, I’m sorry! Hope you enjoy though!
Trying to keep my eyes open, I groan as I sit up in my chair, stretching my arms out. I’m so, so incredibly tired; but Sister Imperator is insisting that I get this task done before the end of the day. Looking around the library, I realise there’s no-one else here. Surely a little nap won’t hurt? I set an alarm on my phone for twenty minutes, and I rest my head on the desk, allowing my eyes to close.
~20 minutes later~
I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. Confused, my eyes flicker open. Suddenly I realise I’m being carried. Looking up, I see a familiar, friendly face.
“Hey, sleepyhead.” Aether smiles at me, still walking whilst carrying me.
“Aeth? I- What?” I mumble, still sleepy and confused.
“You’re gonna come back to the ghoul den, okay? You’ve been working too much, and we miss you.” He said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“But- Sister Imperator-” I start, looking around in slight confusion.
“Don’t worry about her. We’ll take care of it.” He smiles at me again, entering the common room. Putting me back on my feet, Aether shouts out to the others, alerting them of my presence.
Before I can do anything about it, I feel a strong pair of arms lift me up again, carrying me to the couch. I look up, being met with a toothy grin.
“Hi there, baby girl.” Swiss grins, sitting on the sofa and positioning me so my head is on his lap. Still sleepy, I look around, not really knowing what’s going on. I feel Swiss start to scratch my head gently with his claws, making me relax a bit.
“Mhm, that’s nice…” I mumble sleepily, letting my eyes close again.
I feel my legs be lifted up, then put back down. Opening my eyes again, I glance over to see Aether, who’s gently massaging my calves. Before I know it, Dew jumps on top of me, promptly snuggling his head into my neck, wrapping his arms around my waist, immediately purring.
“Oh, hey Dewy.” I chuckle sleepily. He responds by giving me a little squeeze and nuzzling into my neck.
Mountain walks in, ruffling my hair, as he sits down by Swiss’ legs, leaning against him. I smile at him, just accepting what I now knew was happening. A ghoul cuddle pile.
I hear excited chattering, I look up to see Cirrus and Cumulus walk in. They both grin at me and Cumulus settles down next to Swiss, leaning against him, and Cirrus plants herself on top of her. Then comes Rain and Phantom; they sit either side of Mountain, snuggling into him. Rain holds his hand up, clutching mine and giving it a little squeeze. I feel Dew raise his head slightly.
“Are you warm enough?” He asks, sounding tired himself.
“Yeah, but guys-” I start talking but am immediately interrupted by Dew snuggling his face back into my neck.
“Then sleep.” He mumbles simply.
I chuckle, finally giving into my tiredness. There’s no place I’d rather be than surrounded by my ghouls.

Rain is a species of water ghoul that lives so deep in the sea where no light exists. Therefore, his eyes are more or less useless.
Rain was blind.
Well, he wasn't completely blind, but the few, shadowy outlines he could make out through his pale blue eyes were hardly worth mentioning. At least not if sister Imperator had anything to do with it. She had been more than angry when Rain was presented to her after his summoning. What kind of idiot summons a deep sea ghoul, she had asked loudly, but it had been a rhetorical question. Everyone knew that it had been Copia and that it had never been his goal to summon a deep sea ghoul. The eyesight of deep sea ghouls was extremely poor due to the lack of light.
But now Rain was here and luckily for him, Dewdrop had decimated the number of siblings of sin to such an extent during a fit of rage a few days earlier that sister Imperator refrained from sacrificing another sister of sin to summon a new ghoul. For every soul summoned from the pit, it demanded a tribute - another soul in exchange.
In any case, the other ghouls tried to get Rain settled in quickly, walked the stage with him before the concerts so that he could get a rough overview, and showed him the way with small touches.
Nevertheless, he stumbled over a few steps at his first performance, which earned him the name Rain. Quite ironic, since he had never felt a drop of rain on his dark blue skin before.
In the darkness that always enveloped Rain and made him feel isolated from the world around him, Dewdrop was his anchor, his metaphorical ray of light.
During year zero, Dewdrop pressed himself up behind him and used the moment to whisper directions with the exact number of steps in his ear while he put his hand around Rain's throat and squeezed gently. When they played square hammer, Rain often reached out to Dewdrop, stroked his elbow with his slender fingers and then felt further along Dew's waist and back. On the one hand, he used it for orientation, but at the same time Rain also enjoyed feeling the warm body of the fire ghoul under his fingertips.
But the other ghouls also always tried to help Rain.
They were his eyes.
If he was a bit lost on the stage because he didn't know where to go, Swiss would often put an arm around him or pull him into a hug while gently moving him in the right direction. Rain was much more aware of the smallest touches, as if his body was compensating for his blindness by strengthening his other senses.
Cirrus would call him back with a soft chirp when he stepped too close to the edge of the stage and Aether often took his hand.
After the concert, when it was time to say goodbye to the raging audience, Rain only had to stretch out a hand and someone would grab it and pull him to the right place.
When Phantom was finally summoned, he spent a lot of time in Rain's bunk questioning him. Later, Phantom would tell his newly acquired knowledge to Swiss, Aether or Cumulus - depending on who was nearby and listening to his chatter. Rain says that it is so dark in the deep sea that you can't see anything there. Not even if you had a flashlight, explained Phantom, for example, while Rain lay pressed close to Mountain in the bunk and listened happily. He liked that Phantom never pitied him for his blindness, but said everything that was on the tip of his tongue directly and without a filter.
Of course, Phantom was also very keen to help Rain - regardless of whether Rain really needed the help or not.
For example, Phantom did not let himself be dissuaded from helping Rain change and carefully examining and stroking the water ghoul's bluish skin. A grin appeared on Rain's pretty face every time the quintessence ghoul dropped everything as soon as he noticed Rain getting dressed or undressed. He enjoyed Phantom's overzealousness.
Just as he enjoyed it when Dewdrop lured him into the wrong bunk on the tour bus. It was a game between them when Dewdrop promised Rain that he would take him to his bunk and pulled him behind him towards the beds.
And Rain counted the steps. 20 steps from the stairs to his bunk. And 8 steps further to Dew's bunk. Are you sure this is my bunk, Rain would taunt as he pressed his lips against Dew's jaw. And Dewdrop would reply each time that it was the right bed.
And as soon as Rain's zipper zip, another warm body would squeeze into the bunk. Hi Rainy, it's just me, Phantom would inform him each time, which Rain acknowledged with a slight snort. As if he hadn't already recognized Phantom by his smell, his steps and the way his greedy hands made their way directly under Rain's clothes.

Dew being absolutely furious at Copia after he took the new title of Frater Imperator...
He didn't want a new Papa. He didn't want to have to get used to someone new, again.
He didn't want the risk of being replaced..
What if the new guy wanted a new lead? What if he looked at Dew and went "he's too old, I need a new fire ghoul"
Not only that-- he wouldn't be able to see Copia all of the time now. He wouldn't be able to cuddle up to him on stage during Kiss The Goat or interrupt his little stories.
"Why'd it have to be you!?"
"What?" Copia put the giant organized binder down on Sister's-- no-- his desk. Looking at Dew now proper.
"You heard me! Why'd it have to be you? She couldn't have signed it over to anyone else?" Dew crossed his arms, frustrated. His foot doing impatient tap-tap-taps on the floor, trying to keep himself together instead of burning the whole room down with his anger.
Copia's face softened and he sighed, sitting down in the black leather chair that was seated in front of the desk, "Dewdrop.. you know why"
"Oh, yeah. Because her telling you she's your mother after 50 some years is so fair to you"
"That's not.." Copia watched Dew's body language carefully "That's not the point-- eh- well maybe it is a bit.. but my love, she didn't trust anyone else to take this position"
Dew straightened up, his anger breaking through the wall he was trying so hard to keep up.
"I don't care! You deserve to be up on stage with us! At least for another year!? Please?!" He gripped the edge of the desk, looking at Copia with a desperate look.
Dewdrop looked terrified.
Copia swallowed the lump in his throat and turned away from Dew, looking to the floor before finally willing himself to talk.
"You need to go rest, my ghoul" Out of the corner of his eye he saw Dew's grip on the desk loosen until his arms swung loosely back to his sides "Go spend time with your pack. You've all just gotten back"
Dew's heart shattered, "I can't believe you're accepting this.."
"Please, just go"
Dew stomped out of the room, swinging the door open and then slamming it shut.

I can totally get behind Phantom with a heightened sensory perception! Not just because it is obviously a huge help for Aether and it makes them a really good team but because of the potentially funny situations. Like he senses something happening and goes to get Aether but Aether is, well, busy~ with someone. Or he is busy with Phantom at such a moment. Both possible.
Also, I could see Aether calling Phantom Radar because he has that same innocent air around him - at first - as well. Maybe even sleeping with and carrying a bat plushie around etc.
Thinking about newly summoned Phantom coming to Aether and asking to watch a show with him, wanting to learn more about the ghoul teaching him. Aether introduces Phantom to M*A*S*H and they sit down each evening and watch a few episodes, Aether watching as Phantom becomes enamored. Phantom absolutely adores seeing each of Klinger's elaborate ensembles, asking Aether about certain references made in the show.
Just some sweet quint bonding time. Until they reach the shows finale, Phantom has no idea what to expect and is oddly excited to see the ending. None of the other ghouls have spoiled it for him, Aether threatening Dewdrop to not tell him a single word about how sad it is. Phantom gets the authentic experience, sobbing for two hours straight while clinging to Aether.
The following morning Phantom corners Dewdrop about it, having known the fire ghoul has seen the show through hundreds of times. "Oh whenever Aeth and I rewatch it, we skip the finale." He tells Phantom before being bombarded with more insistence that he should've told him.
"Look Ant, I was sworn into secrecy. You didn't have to know I sobbed for the entire two hours to the point I gave myself a damn migraine" the fire ghoul admits, Phantom bursting into laughter at his admission
#omg yes the white horse!#Something similar like Aether riding that horse right into the ghoul common room and telling Dew to hop on all gentleman like?#Maybe combined with that episode where Col. Potters horse has gone missing but instead it's Copia trying to frantically find his horse#Now I'm imagining Aether causing such chaos throughout the whole ministry to find that word that even Sister Imperator has to get involved#Same! I had no idea those fans still existed tbh and even less in this kind of fandom. But that show is perfect for the ghouls#Scribbles

Nothing like starting the day off with being dragged out of my nest in my room. I’ll say this here. I like sleep! Sue me! But with Sister having to ask one of the more ancient ghouls here to drag me out of my nest…not cool…ugh…at least there is bacon during breakfast… *angrily eats bacon strips*

HERE WE GO. dewther phone sex that probably could have gone on for another six thousand words if I'd continued writing instead of forcing myself to end it :)
there is some lore-y stuff in here because I am not me if I don't include my own personal lore, and at the end there's mentions of heats and knotting but neither of those actually happen :)
Dew is a lil mean in this but as it turns out, Aether really likes em mean.
-
The phone rings, pulling him from the inventory reports in front of him—it's the desk phone of all things, not his cell that sits face down a little further away and for a moment, he thinks to ignore it, to continue his work so he can finish quicker and get to bed sooner, but at the late hour it could be some kind of emergency—
He picks it up, balancing his pen in his other hand as he cradles the desk phone between his ear and shoulder, “Infirmary, this is Aether speaking, how can I help you?”
There’s silence on the line for a moment and Aether tilts his head, “Hello? Is someone there?”
A sigh, familiar in its tone echoes across the line, “Hey Aeth,” Dew mumbles, sounding tired, “Didn’t know if you’d still be awake.”
Aether glances up at the clock across the room, the hands ticking by slowly, it’s late, much later than he’d expected, “Ah,” he says, “I was finishing up some inventory reports in the infirmary, some new guy decided to double the amount of gauze we need so now we’re swimming in it but don’t have any more antibiotics,” he glances down at the papers in front of him, red lines crossed through black numbers, “Been down here most of the day counting things to get everything right again.”
Dew hums, a pleased little sound, “I like hearing you talk about the work you do,” he says, tone bordering on that sappy-tired one he gets whenever he’s worked to the bone and sleepy, “I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” Aether murmurs with a small smile, leaning back in his chair and focusing all of his attention on Dew, “How is guard duty with Frater Imperator?” he asks, a brief flash of worry catching him.
“He’s safe,” Dew says, yawns widely over the line, “A little annoyed by the travel, a lot annoyed that there may still be something or someone after him despite everything,” he’s candid about it, and if Aether closes his eyes, he can almost see Dew sitting in front of him, waving a lazy hand in emphasis as he speaks. “Of course, we’re doing fine, this other church is okay, a little drafty and the ghouls here don’t really speak, but I guess it’s fine for a little while. The elders keep giving me dirty looks when they think Copia isn’t watching though.”
A pang of regret goes through him, he’d almost went with Dew and Copia, but something had come up in the infirmary, someone had fallen ill and he’d been the best person to fill in, he wishes he were there with Dew right now. “Sounds exciting,” he says, “A little draft isn’t too much for a fire ghoul, right?” he asks teasingly, feeling the tension of the day fade the longer he speaks to Dew.
“Cold day in Hell that a puny little church with an annoying clergy bothers me enough to make me leave early,” Dew says with a snort, “I wanted to talk to you though, time differences suck. We’re on different continents and everything so I can’t even really feel you right now either.”
Aether gets it, he can feel the way his bond with Dew is weakened, barely there, dormant in the distance between them—in the back of his mind he can still feel him, but it’s a far cry from the usual. “I know, wisp,” he murmurs, “I wish we were closer too,” he admits, “Church is quiet without you here.”
“Copia was giving me shit earlier,” Dew admits after a few moments of silence, “Said I looked sad, like someone stole something from me,” he pauses, clears his throat, “Told me to come call you, that you’d probably be up working still even at the late hour.”
“He was right,” Aether says with a little laugh, “Not that he has any room to talk about what is and isn’t late,” he continues, and then glances up at the ceiling, “Are you still sad?” he asks cheekily, lazily spinning his chair to the side, “Do you need me to talk to you so you can fall asleep?”
He means it as a joke, but there’s a serious undercurrent there, something they’d discovered before Copia’s lateral move, when Dew had toured but Aether stayed behind—sometimes, sometimes his brain wouldn’t let him sleep, not alone, and he’d call Aether, listen to the quintessence ghoul talk until his eyes grew heavy and he fell into a comfortable sleep—imagining his mate right there beside him.
Dew hums lazily, “Maybe,” he starts, but this time, there’s something of a breathless quality to his voice, “Or maybe I want to talk to you about other things.”
It takes Aether a moment, if he focuses hard enough, he can hear something on the other line, a slick sound, a hitch in Dew’s breathing, “Is this a booty call?” he can’t help but ask, the words spilling out before he can stop it, “Dew are you—” he cuts himself off, presses his palm against the bottom of the phone and glances around the office.
It’s late, of course, and the door isn’t locked, but he’s the only one down here right now, having sent the rest of the staff off, only keeping a bare bones support staff in case of emergencies, but he can’t sense anyone else.
“I am working,” Aether finally says, lowering his hand, feeling a flush come up the sides of his neck, “If someone were to walk into my office, they’d—”
“They’d what?” Dew asks sharply, the hitch in his voice making it obvious what he’s doing, “They’d think you were on the phone, right, baby? That you’re working late, working so hard for everyone, making sure the inventory reports are all correct. You’re not doing something silly like touch yourself, are you? You’re on the phone and you’re working diligently.”
Aether grits his teeth, pressing a fist hard into his thigh, “I’m not touching myself,” he says, and looks down at his desk again, numbers taunting him on the page, “I’ve stopped working for the moment to talk to you,” he inhales deeply, bites his lip when he hears Dew moan quietly over the line.
“You’re being such a good boy,” Dew murmurs the praise, praise that shoots right down to Aether’s core, “I’m going to touch myself and you’re going to listen to me and keep working, aren’t you?”
Aether bites harder at his lower lip, tilting his head back against the chair, “I am,” he finally agrees, after a long moment of listening to Dew breathe heavily, the slick sounds of his hand.
Dew waits for a moment, almost as if he’s aware that Aether’s not working, waits for minutes until Aether sits up, scoots his chair forward and picks his pen back up, “If I were there with you, I’d situate myself under your desk,” he purrs, words going a bit high on the end. “You’d be a busy body about it, complain about me distracting you but we both know you want me to.”
Aether digs the pen into the paper in front of him, keeping his gaze trained on the numbers on the page and he hums a little, “You are good at being a little shit sometimes,” he says, trying to keep his tone casual.
A laugh, breathless and the slick sounds seem to get louder, “Uh huh,” he agrees, “I am, but you love me like that, you love when I push your buttons. Take you down a peg, big guy.” Dew grunts a little and Aether can only imagine that he’s fucking up into his fist, “You turn to putty in my hands the second I get my mouth on you,” he breathes.
“Lies,” Aether says, trying to keep his voice firm as he presses his legs together, “You’re just running your mouth.”
Dew swears softly, “Aether,” he moans out, “Strong words for the guy who begged me to fuck him right before I left,” he teases, and Aether feels hot under the collar when he thinks about it, how desperate he had been for Dew’s dick. “It’s okay big guy, I love when you fall apart for me, when you can barely speak because you’re so dick drunk,” he coos, “Thinking about how your skin’s so cold, but every time I get inside you, you heat up like a fire ghoul,” he teases, “Like I’m branding you from the inside out, isn’t that right baby, you’re all mine and no one can fuck you as good as I can.”
Aether squeezes the pen in his hand tight enough that he can hear the plastic creaking, “Dew,” he says sharply, but doesn’t speak beyond that, knows if he says anything else he’s going to make a fool of himself, he’s going to start babbling about how much he wishes Dew were here now, down under his desk, mouth on him, making him come.
As the silence stretches between them, Dew moans again, this time higher, another swear, the steady creak of bedsprings, little ah, ah, ahs falling from his lips as he does, “Say something sweet for me baby,” he finally says, breathless and oh so close. “Let me hear your gorgeous voice, tell me what you want me to do for you, baby.”
And oh Dew’s begging now, desperate in the same way he gets when they’re together, even when he’s being mean and teasing Aether—when he’s close, when he just needs a bit more to come.
The pen clatters to the desk and Aether’s quick to shove his hand down the front of his scrubs, so glad he’d opted for them instead of the stuffy slacks he normally wore when on administration duties, “I want your mouth on me,” he finally admits, “Wanna fuck your face while you wait under the desk for me to finish working,” he manages to get out, moans when his fingers meet his dick, stroking over it quickly. “Want you to put a couple of fingers inside me, something for me to squeeze around,” he swallows heavily, tilts his head back against the chair as he arches his hips up into his own touch, imagining the heat of Dew’s mouth around him, “I feel so empty, firelight,” he admits, voice breaking a little as he does, pants out in the open, “Feels so empty when you’re away, want you to carve a place inside me and never leave.”
Dew swears again, louder, a litany of fucks falling from his lips and Aether thinks he comes, thinks if he focuses hard enough he can feel it, the heat of it inside him, that maybe their distance is driving him a bit mad with how much he misses him.
“Come for me baby,” Dew’s voice, rough with his orgasm, fills Aether’s ears, draws a sharp gasp out of him as he clenches around nothing and comes, goes completely breathless with it as he continues to touch himself until he’s too sensitive and he has to pull his hand away though it doesn’t go far, arm falling limp between his thighs once his hand is free from his scrub pants.
It takes a while for his heart to settle down, for his breathing to fall under control again and he allows it, floats there as he wishes that Dew were here with him right now, a warm weight between his legs, fire all down his chest and stomach as he cradles him close, chasing away the chill that always falls over Aether after coming.
“—ay we’re going to be back tomorrow, we’ve done all the ground work here, anyway, the rest is just boring admin work that can be done over Doom meetings.” Dew’s murmuring when he comes back into focus, “As soon as I see you baby, I’m going to get my hands all over you just like you deserve,” he promises, filthy and low in his ear, “Gonna have you coming so much you’ll be satisfied for days.”
Aether hums, interested when his brain catches on the first part, still mostly focused on the second half of Dew’s words, “Tomorrow?” he asks, hating the way his voice sounds so hopeful.
Fuck, it’d been weeks though, since he’d last seen Dew. Since they’d been together. He misses him.
“Yeah, baby,” Dew murmurs, “Our plane landed a bit ago, we’re at a hotel for the night, but Copia’s got a car coming to get us in the morning. We’ll be home before you know it.”
Aether makes another noise, something choked, “Oh,” he says, looks down at the paper on the desk in front of him, half-finished inventory reports, “I’ve got to—”
“Whatever it is, it can wait,” Dew says firmly, “You’ve got tomorrow off and maybe the day after, Copia’s feeling a bit benevolent,” he says that with a bit of a grin in his voice, “Inventory will be fine for a couple of days, besides, Copia said he’d work on whatever you didn’t finish, just leave it where you’ve got it and he’ll take over. No arguing with me, alright?”
And well, Aether can’t argue, because he’s feeling a bit selfish, a bit like he wants to shirk his duties for a few days so he can spend time with Dew instead, something warm settling in the pit of his stomach. “Okay,” he settles on, feels the weight lifted off of his shoulders at the word as he leans back in the chair, making it squeak a bit under his weight.
“Good boy,” Dew says sweetly, “Now, listen, I want you to hang up the phone and go get cleaned up, settle in our bed and before you know it, I’ll be there, waking you up with a kiss.”
Aether thinks about his nest, the one he’d been working on since Dew had left, how it still smells like the two of them and how much he wants to be there now, “Okay, yeah,” he says, “I can do that.” He swallows, bites his lip, “I love you, Dew.”
Dew hums softly, “I love you too, big guy, I’ll see you tomorrow, bright and early.”
When he hangs up the phone, it’s with warm feelings, and as he levers himself up out of the chair, he feels like he’s floating.
He grabs his phone, scrolling through the few notifications that he has, there’s a couple of text messages that he’s not too concerned with answering tonight, another text from Dew that’s just a heart emoji and then a singular calendar notification.
Aether raises an eyebrow but thinks nothing of it at first, locks up the office and deposits the key in the safe box for another staff member to find before he heads up from the infirmary and to his and Dew’s bedroom.
Once he’s showered and settled into bed, wearing only his underwear and a thin t-shirt that used to be Dew’s at one point and is entirely too short on Aether and stretched out the from the number of times he’s squeezed into it, he picks his phone up again.
Taps the calendar notification and blinks at the entry that had been added recently.
Mandatory Leave 10.26 - 11.3 – Accepted by F. Imperator
There’s a text, one that had come in while he was in the shower, from Copia this time.
Dew may be a little grumpy in the morning, our car arrives in three hours to pick us up, we’ll be back before your heat starts. The others have stocked your room while you were working and I’ve taken the opportunity to clear your schedule for the next week just in case. Let me know if there’s anything you need <3
He feels a surge of affection, sends back a heart in response and takes a moment to take stock of himself, feels the low simmer of something that had been bothering him for a while, something gnawing at him the entire time he’d been without Dew—and he didn’t think that it was heat, thought it was just something happening because Dew had been away for so long. His mind races a bit, wonders why his heat had decided to show now of all times—
His phone buzzes again, a text from Dew.
Go to sleep, Aeth. I can feel you thinking from all the way out here. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.
He huffs quietly, sends back a fuck you and a heart a moment later, almost immediately, another text comes through.
Of course, big boy, anything you need. I’ll even let you knot me if you want <3

Hey so some while ago I wrote a bit about Dew's elemental transition and him taking it well and NOT HAVING ANGST ATTACHED TO IT FOR ONCE CUZ I'M SOFT!!! (Affectionately to anyone who writes angst, I love you)
Anyway I talked a bit about Rain's summoning in that post and I wanted to write it better so I did! It's under the cut.
~1k of Dew falling in love at first sight
Dewdrop stands in front of his mirror, ceremonial cloak in hand. Anticipation and dread eat at his nerves as he stares at his own reflection. He barely recognizes what the mirror shows him now. Just a few weeks after his elemental transition, he's not yet used to this new version of himself.
No more gills. No more fins. His silky soft white hair now a more orange blonde, blue eyes replaced with amber. Scorch marks and scars over all his once discernible Water features.
He doesn't regret his choice. He says it loud and clear to anyone who'll listen. Water was familiar, but never home. Fire embraces him, makes him feel welcomed. That doesn't make it any easier for him to live this new change, to recognize the stranger looking at him from the other side of the mirror. He throws his cloak on with a sigh before heading out his door. Tonight, the Clergy summons its newest ghouls. Air and Water. The Water that will take his place in the band and- No. Dewdrop pushes the thought aside. He cannot, will not, resent the new ghoul simply for existing. He doesn't regret his choice.
The Fire ghoul runs into Aether, also on his way to the room where this ancient ritual will take place. As the new head of the Quintessence ghouls (by default of being now the only one), it's his job to welcome the new summons.
“You doing alright?”
He asks the nerve-wracked smaller ghoul.
“'m fine, just… nervous.”
“You can tell me what's on your mind, you know? It's kind of a big deal, what's happening tonight.”
“I just hope that-” Dewdrop pauses, not sure exactly what he's hoping for. “That we get a good one.”
Aether hums in acknowledgment and the both of them keep walking in silence, picking up Mountain on the way. The last three ghouls remaining after the events following the death of the Emeritus brothers. They make their way to the summoning chamber, where Sister Imperator and the shiny new Cardinal are already waiting, candles lit and sigils drawn on the floor.
The woman instructs them into place, around the circle of candles and explains the ceremony. He can't be bothered to pay much attention, he watches Aether pick up the cloaks for the ghouls-to-be and take place next to him. All Dew has to do is stand there and keep his mouth shut. Should be easy enough.
Imperator stands by the Cardinal as she shoves a book in his hands and reminds him of the incantations. He takes a hesitant step forward, gripping the ancient book in an iron grip that Dew can't help wondering if he'll rip the thing in half. Copia clears his throat nervously before he starts to read with a shaky voice.
A small wind picks up in the room, slowly growing in intensity as the Cardinal reads until it turns into a tornado that takes out most of the candles around the summoning circle. He finishes the incantation and the tornado disappears, revealing two Air ghoulettes sitting in the middle of the circle, both looking just as confused as everyone else in the room.
Two?
Aether looks at Imperator, wanting confirmation before breaking into the circle. She gives a quizzical look in response and the Quintessence ghoul takes it as his unusual cue to go greet the newcomers. He offers them both a hand and gives them the two ceremonial cloaks he had with him.
Dew watches as Aether greets them and exchanges a few words, getting them into place around the circle. Now is not the time for long winded explanations, they still have one ghoul to summon. The Fire ghoul fidgets nervously under his cloak. His heart feels like it's going to burst out of his ribcage at any moment, the anticipation slowly killing him.
The Cardinal lets out a dry chuckle while Imperator glares at him with daggers shooting out of her eyes. How do you mess up a spell that badly that you end up summoning two ghouls at once?
Copia does his best to ignore the Sister and flicks the book to another page for the next incantation. He looks up at Dew expectantly and the ghoul gives him a confused expression before he catches on.
Oh, right.
He walks around the circle and relights the extinguished candles with ease before taking his place again. The Cardinal starts to read again and Dew wonders what kind of small natural disaster he's going to conjure, this time around.
Everyone stares in equal parts of awe and confusion when the inside of the summoning circle turns into a puddle. No hurricane or tsunami, no downpour or thunderstorm. Just a puddle of stillwater. After a moment of absolutely nothing happening, the top of a head peeks out of the water, a curtain of black hair sticking to blue skin. A pair of curious amphibian eyes stare down the people in the room while the rest of the ghoul, if it even is one, stays completely submerged underwater.
Dew shoots a glance as Aether, who looks like he's at a complete loss of what to do in this new scenario. Before he even knows it, the Fire ghoul is kneeling in front of the puddle.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
A voice calls out from beneath the surface and Dew has to fight every single atom in his body not to jump in the water right then and there.
“How you feel about getting outta there, right now?”
“Water's nice.”
“We have better pools.”
The pair of eyes blinks slowly at him. Dew's face becomes incredibly hot and he convinces himself it's from having everyone in the room watching him. A webbed hand with slender fingers reaches out of the water and he takes it, pulling the new ghoul out of the puddle with effort. He takes his own ceremonial cloak off and offers it to the newcomer, covering his naked form in an attempt not to ogle him so soon after being summoned.
“I'm Dew, by the way.”
“Rain.”
Rain. The Fire ghoul repeats in his mind. Sounds like home.
