Someday he'll come along, the man I love And he'll be big and strong, the man I love And when he comes my way I'll do my best to make him stay I ll look at him and smile, He'll understand And in a little while he'll take my hand And though it seems absurd I know we both won't say a word Maybe I will meet him Sunday Maybe Monday, maybe not Still I'm sure to meet him one day Maybe Tuesday will be my good news day He 'll build a little home, just meant for two From which I'll never roam, who would, would you? And so all else above I am waiting for The man I love Maybe I will meet him Sunday Maybe Monday, maybe not Still I'm sure I'll meet him one day Maybe Tuesday will be my good news day He'll build a little home, just meant for two From which I'll never roam, who would, would you? And so all else above I am waiting for The man I love

Imagine wrapping yourself around a lover so much that you lose your identity in them and what you think/believe you need to or must be for them.
Willow was co-dependent to Tara.
And Willow was just lucky Tara was having none of it and wouldn’t take advantage of her the way she did with her. Tara got out of dodge because there’d be no chance Willow would let go of her. She was hooked much the same way as she was with magic. That’s why I say her addiction wasn’t just to magic. It was also to Tara. And as healthy as that relationship was from the outside-looking in. From the inside-looking out,… it was hella destructive because she was obsessed. She wanted to own Tara. Not love her.
Tara was an unintended trigger and enabler for Willow and as soon as she recognized this.. she severed ties. She left more so for everybody else’s sake than her own. It’s difficult to see it this way because again… were watching the arc play out from the outside-looking in. From people who just don’t understand. To truly get this arc you have to look at it through from the inside-looking out. You have to see it through the eyes of someone who knows of emotional addiction.

not even JRR Tolkien, who famously developed the concept of the Secondary World and firmly believed that no trace of the Real World should be evoked in the fictional world, was able to remove potatoes from his literature. this is a man who developed whole languages and mythologies for his literary world, who justified its existence in English as a translation* simply because he was so miffed he couldn't get away with making the story fully alien to the real world. and not even he, in extremis, was so cruel as to deny his characters the heavenly potato. could not even conceive a universe devoid of the potato. such is its impact. everyone please take a moment to say thank you to South Americans for developing and cultivating one of earth's finest vegetables. the potato IS all that. literally world-changing food. bless.
#*such literary devices had already been used by many before Tolkien; most notably Miguel de Cervantes for his Quijote#potatoes#my thoughts this morning

Critical PSA for anyone with Android devices!
I got the following email this morning:
Basically Google is rolling out the ability to track you via your android devices even when you're offline and you have to manually opt out of it. Many android devices no longer come with a wired headphone jack, so if you have Bluetooth headphones or a keyboard or anything, your location will be tracked and stored by your device unless you opt out of this.
I tried using the link they gave me in the email to opt out of it, but it didn't really seem to do anything. So I looked up how to opt out and found the following steps, which worked for my phone:
Opting out from the Find My Device network is as simple as tapping a toggle in your phone's settings. 1. On your Android device, go to Settings. 2. Tap the Google setting. 3. Tap the Find My Device setting. 4. Tap the toggle to off next to "Use Find My Device." 5. Confirm with pin, pattern, or biometrics. That's it. Your device is no longer participating in the Find My Device network. To rejoin, just flip the toggle back on.
Please reblog to spread awareness. My husband has the same phone as me and he didn't get any emails about this.

Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.
Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.
Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.
When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?
Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?
#i get why this is happening; it's way cheaper to buy an off-the-shelf touch kiosk or tablet and run your ui on a web server#rather than integrating with custom hardware and physical inputs#but that should not just removing accessibility features#and I know that digital devices can help a lot with accessibility: e.g. screen readers#but I wouldn't rely on any of those being installed on someone else's device
