It's disgusting that we see more and more companies using AI to avoid paying creatives just to fill their own pockets. What hurts the most are companies like Wacom and Michaels and others, that are all about uplifting artists and creativity, using obvious AI.

Then you have these fake ass ppl using these generative AI programs calling themselves "artists" and scamming people. If anyone is on artist TikTok you might have come across a vid of a writer who commissioned an "artist" to illustrate a book cover. Poor woman found out the illustration was in fact AI after being urged by the comments to request the files and even the scammer themselves said they used AI. Something the scammer didn't disclose in their description. The writer spent over $1000 for this cover thinking she was commissioning a genuine artists.

The good thing is that artists are fighting back (and winning) and AI isn't copyrightable or protected.

Went to apply for a job, midway through I learned that the person hiring is someone I respect very, very much in my field (who I have never spoken to), then saw the application site was closed (How Did I Miss the Deadline for this Really Cool Job!!!!) and then saw that it was the website's fault and that they were taking applications through LinkedIn DM's. So I did the premium trial & sent my reel in, and they told me they're sending it to recruitment/leads and that it's a good reel!!!! Cap'n (she/they) has become a Spongebob-adjacent "married to the job" type with sprinklings of "they are not immune to rose-tinted Company propaganda". Cartoonishly loyal to work, she's more upset about lying to the boss about her condition over actually becoming a monster on work time (though she isn't particularly a fan of being a monster, either).

Skeets (she/her) was already implied to be pretty optimistic and curious, but I've doubled down on this. She's constantly curious about entities and the state of her co-workers, asking questions and absorbing new information. She's also extremely lucky when it comes to encountering entities.

Mav (she/him), as implied by her nearly leaving Cap'n behind in the first comic, has become a "I won't hesitate, bitch" bitch. Split second decisions aren't an issue for her, she WILL shoot first and ask questions later. (She also now has a gambling addiction, haha. LOVES betting credits on things)

Kid (he/him) is now Irish. I will not elaborate. He's kind of literally the same otherwise. He's also in major inherited debt because of a Company-caused clerical error, but don't worry about it.

there's one attorney who I work with quite a bit who seems to live a charmed life---she's got high-achieving kids, a beautiful house, and is always doing something swanky, jet-setting off to different parts of the world, attending massive, sold-out concerts, hanging out in the influencer tent at political rallies, etc.

yet rather than being a lovely person, lit from within by just how blessed, how wonderful her life is.....she's always short, condescending, talks over people in meetings, consistently picks up minor things to worry about and isn't prepared even for meetings where she is a critical decision-maker. For lack of a better term, she's pissy, all the time, unless you're discussing her and her wonderful life.

and honestly, I just don't understand it. No, that's not true, I understand it---it just makes me deeply sad. You've achieved everything that a reasonable person could want, more even....and yet your coworkers spend their days thinking up ways not to involve you, to get around you, to avoid you entirely. It didn't have to be like this, and yet it is.
