What is your favorite floor heat system? Carl from @cuttingedgetile put me onto the @nuheat system about two years ago and I haven’t used anything else since. The thermostat is very intuitive unlike some of the other offerings on the market. My customers love it. The heating cable fits perfectly in the ditra heat floor decoupling membrane. This bathroom was a somewhat contemporary design but we still worked in the original moulding profile, steam radiator, doors and hardware so it feels like part of the rest of the house. It is fun to snap a pretty picture of a well designed space but if it doesn’t fit within the rest of the house then we didn’t do our job. MDF - Medium Density Fiberboard . I have a love-hate relationship with it. . I love it because it's stable, flat, takes paint well and cheap! . I hate it because it's ruined by water, cheap and weak. . Over the years I have found a couple applications where it's beneficial to me. I use it ass a wall substrate where drywall needs to meet a solid surface. I use it as panels on my shaker doors. One of the biggest struggles when renovating a bathroom is square footage. You can only fit so many people in such a small space. Today Charlie installed the shiplap in the kids bathroom. Our tile installer grouted the master bathroom. Brian and I built this vanity for the kids bathroom. It's nothing fancy but it's going to integrate perfectly into the space and we are going to wrap the ship lap around the side. We matched the propositions of the existing details in the house and we will install the back band detail in place to cover our nailing pattern. Paint doesn't last on a sharp edge so we rounded over these jamb extensions for our window trim. It is a small detail that will keep this job looking good in the years to come.
