Hi, since you said you're down to write some Kakanaru stuff here's my idea and plots. Obviously you can just write the stuff you're comfortable with writing about.

AU: modern (Top possessive Kakashi x bottom golden retriever innocent Naruto). Kakashi-centric/ Kakashi POV

Pairing: Kakashi(35 yrs old)/ Naruto(aged up-20 years old), Shikamaru/ Temari (mentioned), Obito/Rin (mentioned, married and have kids), etc.

Tags (i guess?): smutty, angst with fluff happy ending

Rating: Explicit (D/S undertones. Pet names/Praise kink)

Background: Kakashi is a detective and Naruto is a college student (occupation is mentioned for details). They met at a chess club that Shikamaru dragged Naruto to (they're besties) and Kakashi over heard Naruto complaning about getting rejected by Sakura, but somehow the fact Naruto's bi slips (just to introduce that he likes dudes) during the convo and Kakashi took interests in Naru because he likes how Naru looks, and the fact that he could potentially pursue Naru due to the fact that he likes guys. After that he kept going back to the chess club to stalk on Naru, then eventually pretends to bump into Naruto and the rest is history.

Plot: Kashi gets to know Naru more and meet up outside of chess club, and he started tutoring Naru on some of the subjects Naru gets stuck on at uni, only to discover that Naru is pretty smart but just doesn't care much about his future. He only acts silly because he's a golden retriever but ppl think he stupid. (kakashi also discovers that Naru is rich because he inherited a big company from his dead parents) - Iruka takes care of the company until Naru is good enough to be CEO (which he technically is because he's 20).

On Naru part - Naru gets rejected by Sakura and she's kind of a toxic girl because not only does she take advantage of Naruto but she also leads Naru on whenever she misses her crush (Sasuke- who is Naruto's close friend, they're on good terms in this one). Sasuke is in the friend group (sasuke, neji, choji, ino, Hinata, shikamaru, shino, etc - except Sakura cus she toxic) . And Naru would submit to Sakura's asks like taking her to places and get her stuff to please her. Which Shikamaru would disapprove of and he'd try to protect Naru.

Kakashi has commitment issues and even tho he took interests first in Naruto but he didn't want to commit because he failed multiple relationships in the past due to his nonchalant nature. Which is where the angst comes from because Naru would get mixed signals from Kashi.

Naru desperately wants to date Kashi but to Kashi Naru is just a FWB, but Kashi wants to keep Naru on a hook because he's also obsessed with Naruto and wants to keep Naru to himself. But he's a hypocrite because he's very protective of Naruto and would mock/ uses sarcasm towards Sakura when he smells her taking advantage of Naruto, or anyone who takes interests in Naru.

Naru is a golden retriever and a people pleaser so he kept thinking Kakashi doesn't commit to him because he's not good enough for him. Naru always thinks there's something wrong with him because he's insecure and doesn't think he's good enough.

Also Hinata has a crush on Naruto but only Kakashi notices it and because he's possessive he would get super jealous.

The story goes on about Naru pleasing Kashi by doing whatever Kashi says but never asks anything back. It's angsty until Kashi notices he's been selfish (unintentionally - because Kashi is pretty sweet, just easily jealous/possesive) and he also realized he fell in love with Naruto. Kashi couldn't handle his feelings so he avoided Naru for a while. But eventually Kashi confesses his feelings with Naruto after Shika came to Kashi and confronted him.

In this verse Obito and Rin are Kashi's best friends growing up. His past relationships are described as him just not caring about the other person and a workaholic/nonchalant and unexpressive. Obito is the one who has to keep dragging Kashi out of work. Yamato is Kashi's coworker for more background information.

Physical Description: pretty much like the show where whiskered blondie Naruto is muscular and stronk and Kakashi is also as ripped. Only difference is Naru has slightly longer hair and wears glasses cus he looks hot with it haha.

Explicit stuff: Half a Virgin Naruto (he got a bj at some point by a girl when he was younger but that's it). Kakashi is dommy and he took Naruto's virginity. Naruto has never dated or been with anyone before.

Kakashi discovers that Naruto has a thing for praises and pet names (baby, good boy). Naru calls Kashi "sensei" in the bedroom sometimes when he slips up and Kashi's feral with it. (Basically theme 1,4,5,6,12,14 in your list on how the sex goes)

The Chess Club Encounter

okay, i’m ngl this was soo fun to write but also so far the hardest thing ever. i genuinely hope you like this cuz it was a lot to take in and i just hope i did it up to your standards or up to at least something you expected. I wasn’t comfortable writing the smut part for kakashi and naruto but i implied it at the end so i hope you enjoy. 💞

Kakashi Hatake. He was leaning against the doorway of Konoha universities chess club, his sharp eye observing the room. He was watching the chess match, but to be honest to himself, that wasn’t the reason he was there. What had really brought him here was a golden-haired, blue-eyed young man who had caught his interest.

Naruto didn’t know how he found himself to be in a classroom, playing chess with shikimaru. His fellow college student dragging him to the club. They sat across from each other, having some idle talk. Kakashi strained to listen, catching snippets of the conversation. At some points they were talking about chakra, when all of a sudden Naruto spoke up, and with his next sentence his expression being a little gloomy.

A loud sigh left naruto as he began, “Bro, she really rejected me again,” Naruto looking dejected. “I really thought that maybe this time…it’d be somewhat different ya know.”

Shikamaru rolled his eyes. “Sakura’s not worth it, Naruto. I don’t know why your so stuck on her. She’s genuinely such a drag. I don’t get why you keep trying. Go for a girl with some decency, like hinata for example.”

Naruto’s face flushed. “I know, but it’s hard, you know? I mean, I like girls and guys, so if we talk about it in that sense, i could have anyone….. but…even so. ”

Kakashi’s interest piqued. Naruto was bi? since when? for how long? Kakashis mind was racing. His hope just grew ten times. Maybe he did have a chance. This information was pretty new to kakashi. Nevertheless he was hopeful. He continued to frequent the chess club, watching from afar. Using his detective skills to always listen in on his conversations without actually having to approach the two boys. Constantly trying to find the right moment to approach Naruto.

After a few weeks have gone by of kakashi finding out about naruto’s sexuality. He decided it was time to make his move. He would really weird himself out if he continued to just stalk the young man. Using the weeks he calculated naruto as thoroughly as he could using his detective skills. Knowing the little details like how on tuesdays he leaves at 6pm and how thursdays he doesn’t show up. Though, on friday, he planned to exit the same time naruto did. Planning to ‘accidentally’ run into him as they both left the clubs classroom.

“Sorry about that,” Kakashi said, his tone casual yet calculated, giving the back of his head a scratch with a closed eye smile. “Naruto? I’m surprised to see you out here.”

Naruto blinked up at him, “surprised? i’m not a dumb kid anymore sensei! … Also just because i’m in the chess club, it doesn’t make me smart.” He crossed his arms, gruffly finishing his sentence.

Kakashi chuckled. “Easy Uzumaki. I’m just joking. Though, how have you been, it’s been so long. I like the long hair for a change.”

They started talking, finding common ground easily. Kakashi did used to be his sensei, he knew naruto’s interests. making it easy for him to keep a conversation going. Though it has been a while, kakashi was happy to have learned about his university subjects.

“Yeah so my chakra control class. Sometimes kurama can be annoying and it’s hard to not flip out ya know. Sauske has been tryna help, but he just can’t explain right sometime.”

Kakashi had to take his chance.

“If you’d like Naruto, i could help you train.” It was risky, as it’s been so long but why would he say no?

“hm? Really kakashi sensei? I don’t wanna be a bot-“

“No no, not at all, really I insist.

“Alright then!”

Ever since that one interaction, Kakashi and Naruto’s meetings became more frequent, ranging from not only meeting at the chess club, but also universities training grounds, library and even the local ichiraku ramen spots, sometimes not even to study. It would just be a hangout or even just to have dinner together. Kakashi tutored Naruto in various subjects, noticing that Naruto is much smarter then he’s been given credit for. He had the potential of a genius, he just lacked due to laziness.

“You’re actually pretty brilliant, Naruto,” Kakashi said during one of their sessions. “Why don’t you try like this often? If i’m being honest, you dont even need my help.”

Naruto shrugged. “I don’t know…guess I just don’t see the point sometimes. Everyone looks at me, they all expect me to take over the company mom and dad left behind. Though to be completely honest with you sensei…I don’t know if that’s what i want yet.”

Kakashi was intrigued. Sure a company could be a lot of work, but the pay would be great. Not only that, it’s way better compared to any little lousy job the village provides. Naruto was quite wealthy nonetheless, Iruka managing the company until Naruto was ready, constantly making sure Naruto still gets his share of money to be able to stabilize his life. This just made kakashi yearn for naruto’s love more. Showing how great naruto is. He doesn’t care about money or things like that, he just wants himself to be happy with who he ends up being.

Kakashi is a patient person. Not only that, but it also takes a lot to get under his skin. One simple thing that makes his blood boil….Saukra. Naruto’s interactions with Sakura frustrated Kakashi. Saukra was a toxic girl. It was so clear to everyone as well, so why was Naruto so blinded?? Using Naruto whenever it suited only her. He has never seen someone as selfish as her. Well, sure he has as he’s gone against mainly evil people, but at least they openly admit to their wrong actions. Sakura acts like a little oblivious girl to naruto whenever she is in need. Constantly leading him on, giving him false home, asking for money. Kakashi would catch himself constantly overhearing her making demands, demands that Naruto would always be quick to comply with. Much to Shikamaru’s disapproval.

Kakashi and Naruto were getting ready to leave a quick study session. They were walking in silence, but it wasn’t an awkward silence. It was somewhat a comforting one. Kakashi couldn’t hold back his thoughts. His mind still stuck on the way Naruto lets sakura treat him. He knows he’s smarter than that, he knows that naruto knows he’s being used. “You know, Naruto, you deserve better than how she treats you.”

Naruto looked down. “What are you talkin about?”

“Why do you constantly feel the need to keep her happy? You know deep down how bad of a person she is.”

Naruto made a frustrated expression, “Kakashi sensei, with all due respect, i want to hit you for what you just said…..but I know. I know what she’s doing, she thinks she’s slick. All I just want is to make sure she’s her happy….if she’s happy, then that’s all that matters.”

Kakashi was taken back just a bit by his sudden threat, but he ignored it. “It’s not your job to please everyone, Naruto,” Kakashi said, his tone softening, giving a light chuckle, “Sure you can write literally save the entire world, but when it comes to happiness, not everyone can be happy. Keep her happy, i’m not saying don’t, but not at the cost of your own happiness.”

naruto squinted his eyes at kakashi, arms resting on the top of his head. “Geez kakashi you really are such a mentor.”

Despite kakashi being glad at his growing closeness to naruto, he felt like he struggled with his own issues. Issues like commitment. He generally likes Naruto, more than he cared to admit, but that wouldn’t be fair to all his past relationships. All of them failing due to his nonchalant nature. He couldn’t help but sometimes be so emotionless. Even though he felt different with Naruto, he didn’t want to hurt Naruto. He didn’t want to risk losing any ounce of friendship he’s worked so hard to have made.

“Kakashi sensei!” Naruto bumped into kakashi at the little convenient store by the training grounds. Kakashi has avoided all last 3 study sessions and without giving naruto anything more of a ‘i’m busy’.

“oh, Naruto. Hello.”

“What’s up! where have you beeen. I need you, my grades gone down 2 percent.”

kakashi gave a light chuckle, “Naruto even during our study sessions, it would mainly be you, you got this.” As he attempted to walk away.

“wait,” naruto grabbed his wrist, clearly causing kakashi to be flustered, “when is our next session?”

“i’m sorry naruto i have to go,” gently pulling his wrist away and rushing out of the shop.

Even though kakashi was staying distant. He still couldn’t deny the possessive streak that emerged whenever someone else showed interest in him. Even as quiet as Hinata’s crush on Naruto, it only fueled Kakashi’s jealousy, and his protectiveness over Naruto became more apparent. Kakashi was resting in the detective joint apartments with yamato.

“kakashi senpai, i’ve seen the changes that you had when you were with naruto. You were more alive and happy. i worry for your mental health, all you do is just stay in bed now.” Yamato said with his blank expression.

“Yamato. Please i’m fine.” Kakashi said with a sigh.

Shikamaru confronted Kakashi.

“You’re hurting him, you know. Naruto’s done nothing but try to make you happy, and you keep pushing him away. You love bombed him. and if i’m being honest, thats worst then anything sakura has ever done. You gave naruto genuine hope.” Evident annoyance in shikimarus face.

“stay out of it shikimaru.”

“why should I? your hurting my bestfriend, im not gonna sit back and watch.” he said, lighting a cigarette. “Naruto nonstop talks about you, excited, only thing he has was your guys’ lil sessions and now, you won’t even give him homework help? pathetic.”

Kakashi was forced to face his feelings. Realizing how unfair he’d been, “shikimaru, will you help me.”

For a little while longer Kakashi avoided Naruto, struggling with his feelings. But eventually, he couldn’t stay away any longer. With shikimarus help, he found his way outside of naruto’s dorm. Knocking on the door.

Naruto opened the door with a blank face, “kakashi? what are you doing here?”

the first thing that popped in kakashis head was to why naruto didn’t call him sensei? “Naruto, that’s kinda disrespectful, you should keep calling me sensei…you gonna let me in?” He said with a closed eye smile and a bead of sweat on his forehead.

“oh i just assumed you weren’t my sensei anymore as we didn’t have anymore study sessions? forgive me sensei! come in i guess….” moving out the way to let the older man in.

“I’m sorry, Naruto,” Kakashi said, his voice sincere. He just approached and said it. He didn’t know how else to do it. He thought it would be better to just let it out. “I’ve been so. so. so. selfish. I do care about you, more than I’ve let on. Shikimaru told me. he told me how you developed feelings for me…it’s just….I just didn’t know how to handle it….if i’m being honest…i just didn’t want to hurt you. For your happiness truly is better than my own.”

Naruto looked at the silver haired man, evident happiness in his face, “Sensei a simple ‘i like you’ would have sufficed ya know,” as he laughed so hard, he gripped his stomach.

Kakashi rolled his eyes. “Hey, i just poured my heart out, do you like me back or not!”

Naruto’s smiled. “Of course I do, you idiot.”

Kakashi pulled him into a hug, looking into his eyes, “…..Can i?…”, his lips inches from naruto’s.

“Please kakashi….i want you..”

“Call me sensei…”.

Commissioner Tsunade Senju was everything her father said she was. Strong-willed, easily angered and not to be trifled with. The older woman fixed her with a stare. "Do you have any questions?" Ino shook her head negatively and took her leave. She knew people were staring. Why wouldn't they? Ino was young and beautiful. That in and on itself was strange. The police department had men of all ages filling its ranks. Women were rare to come by and those that were present...seemed to resemble most of their male co-workers, possessing little to no allure. She, however, planned to embrace her feminity, not hide it under layers of distasteful clothing and stern facial expressions.

Her assigned partner, Neji Hyuga, was a renowned homicide detective. Ino had been half-tempted to read his file before coming to work (her father was responsible for all the psychological evaluations that concerned the police department) but she chose not to. She loved a good puzzle and if the rumors were to be trusted, then her partner was by far the greatest enigma she had the fortune of encountering. Lips curling upwards into a pleasant smile, she reached her superior and extended her hand. "I'm Detective Ino Yamanaka. I look forward to us working together." she spoke, blue eyes scanning him subtly. He was tall and lean. She'd bet her first salary that he did not lack muscles either. Handsome, in the way only fine sculptures of Greek and Roman gods were. His posture was impeccable and his movements possessed the kind of grace that left Ino astonished. She was eager to start working, though so, she chose to address a subject of great importance. "Did Commissioner Tsunade brief you on the Kurosawa case?"

Modern ObiRin Headcanons:

-Obito would be a detective sergeant, and I think that the police officers or detectives he's leading would be the Akatsuki members, lol, while Rin would be a doctor! Yup; Sakura and Ino are one of her little first-year residents~ Given that Obito is an Uchiha, of course, his family owns the headquarters and the police academy (a tie-in to the Konoha Military Police Force) - although Obito made his way up to the top by himself. While Rin's intelligence and love for medicine got her to be a great doctor in Konoha Hospital (in a modern AU you can say it's the best hospital XD).

-They're technically the couple that are best friends who fell in love - the typical "marry your best friend" type of couple.

-They've been best friends since childhood - their first meeting was during elementary school and they have been stuck together ever since. They did everything together! They become a couple when they're older though - probably during college or after college, (Obito definitely fell in love with her during junior high however), and as they grew older - they start to know better and feelings only grew deeper and the next thing they did was overcome the fear of ruining their friendship with their romantic feelings for each other, or the fact that they'd be in different schools (Rin in medical school and Obito at the police academy), and took the step to become an official loving couple that supported each other's dreams and goals.

-They both know how to emotionally support each other during the hardest times, especially when they're facing hard cases (Rin's medical cases and Obito's crime investigations) from their work. They'd come home and easily know how to comfort one another - sometimes without words spoken.

-Obito and Rin would split cooking with each other. That's right, Obito definitely knows how to cook! They both think that the other's cooking is better, lol

-They're the type of couple that would watch medical dramas or crime dramas and crack jokes at the inaccuracies; which is probably one of their favorite non-intimate moment to have where they just sit down and relax by the TV together.

-(NSFW) They definitely roleplay together in the bedroom as their respective jobs - you know, Obito gets to "arrest" Rin under the charges of being "naughty" and that she needs to be punished, and Obito gets to be Rin's patient who is in need of "sexual healing~" (yup, think of that Marvin Gaye song).

-Their favorite places to go for a date is a quiet beach where it's just the two of them - because Rin loves collecting shells and enjoying the ocean sunsets; and they also love exploring nature - it's their own personal way of escaping the realities that they face in their work.

-Obito definitely proposed to her by that beach, too, during that golden sunset with the gentle sea breeze blowing by and it's just the two of them, with the love of her life down on one knee holding a beautiful seashell ring box.

-When they have a late shift, they always make sure to check in on each other every now and then because they'd miss each other - like a lot. Especially Obito; if he's at home while Rin is held up at the hospital, he gets pouty, and vice versa if Obito is held up at the precinct.

-They like massaging each other, especially after a long day at work. It's one of their ways of taking care of each other. Obito would massage Rin's feet while she rests back on the couch (he'd brush kisses on her ankle) and tell her how much he appreciates her and that she's amazing for working so hard, while Rin would massage Obito broad shoulders and back by having him lay down on the bed on his stomach - and she'd always massage him with her lingerie on~ and also brush kisses on his shoulders while she straddles him and whisper praises into his ear. It always ends up in the two of them being intimate, which is what they love.

-They even got all freaky in the shooting range, where Obito was showing Rin how to fire a gun, and then some sexual tension developed because he was standing behind her and holding her hand while the two of them were being as careful as they could, and after Rin landed a few good shots, she decided that this was a good time to get all touchy and nasty with each other, lol.

-Obito tends to visit Rin at her work whenever he can; and Rin gets teased by the nurses when her man stops by to visit her at her office in the hospital, and he's always holding a bouquet of flowers.

-Remember that Obito is by default, a very intimidating person who can scare criminals shitless during interrogations. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty in order to draw out the truth and answers that he needs. He's absolutely scary. Yet of course, only his favorite doctor gets to see his sweet and romantic side because they both make each other melt.

-Rin would always, always prepare a lovely bento for Obito to take with him to work before she gets ready for her day, because Obito loves her cooking and loves anything that makes him think of her in between dealing with stressful cases.

-Last but not least, they definitely, definitely, got freaky in each other's office - which is something Rin initiated because she's a kinky freak. They did it in Obito's office at the precinct, and they did it on her cot at her doctor's office in the hospital, because it's nice to have fun in the middle of work. And yes, they never get caught - although there were several occasions that almost did, hehe.

Modern AU ObiRin HCs

Modern ObiRin Headcanons:

-Obito would be a detective sergeant, and I think that the police officers or detectives he's leading would be the Akatsuki members, lol, while Rin would be a doctor! Yup; Sakura and Ino are one of her little first-year residents~ Given that Obito is an Uchiha, of course, his family owns the headquarters and the police academy (a tie-in to the Konoha Military Police Force) - although Obito made his way up to the top by himself. While Rin's intelligence and love for medicine got her to be a great doctor in Konoha Hospital (in a modern AU you can say it's the best hospital XD).

-They're technically the couple that are best friends who fell in love - the typical "marry your best friend" type of couple.

-They've been best friends since childhood - their first meeting was during elementary school and they have been stuck together ever since. They did everything together! They become a couple when they're older though - probably during college or after college, (Obito definitely fell in love with her during junior high however), and as they grew older - they start to know better and feelings only grew deeper and the next thing they did was overcome the fear of ruining their friendship with their romantic feelings for each other, or the fact that they'd be in different schools (Rin in medical school and Obito at the police academy), and took the step to become an official loving couple that supported each other's dreams and goals.

-They both know how to emotionally support each other during the hardest times, especially when they're facing hard cases (Rin's medical cases and Obito's crime investigations) from their work. They'd come home and easily know how to comfort one another - sometimes without words spoken.

-Obito and Rin would split cooking with each other. That's right, Obito definitely knows how to cook! They both think that the other's cooking is better, lol

-They're the type of couple that would watch medical dramas or crime dramas and crack jokes at the inaccuracies; which is probably one of their favorite non-intimate moment to have where they just sit down and relax by the TV together.

-(NSFW) They definitely roleplay together in the bedroom as their respective jobs - you know, Obito gets to "arrest" Rin under the charges of being "naughty" and that she needs to be punished, and Obito gets to be Rin's patient who is in need of "sexual healing~" (yup, think of that Marvin Gaye song).

-Their favorite places to go for a date is a quiet beach where it's just the two of them - because Rin loves collecting shells and enjoying the ocean sunsets; and they also love exploring nature - it's their own personal way of escaping the realities that they face in their work.

-Obito definitely proposed to her by that beach, too, during that golden sunset with the gentle sea breeze blowing by and it's just the two of them, with the love of her life down on one knee holding a beautiful seashell ring box.

-When they have a late shift, they always make sure to check in on each other every now and then because they'd miss each other - like a lot. Especially Obito; if he's at home while Rin is held up at the hospital, he gets pouty, and vice versa if Obito is held up at the precinct.

-They like massaging each other, especially after a long day at work. It's one of their ways of taking care of each other. Obito would massage Rin's feet while she rests back on the couch (he'd brush kisses on her ankle) and tell her how much he appreciates her and that she's amazing for working so hard, while Rin would massage Obito broad shoulders and back by having him lay down on the bed on his stomach - and she'd always massage him with her lingerie on~ and also brush kisses on his shoulders while she straddles him and whisper praises into his ear. It always ends up in the two of them being intimate, which is what they love.

-They even got all freaky in the shooting range, where Obito was showing Rin how to fire a gun, and then some sexual tension developed because he was standing behind her and holding her hand while the two of them were being as careful as they could, and after Rin landed a few good shots, she decided that this was a good time to get all touchy and nasty with each other, lol.

-Obito tends to visit Rin at her work whenever he can; and Rin gets teased by the nurses when her man stops by to visit her at her office in the hospital, and he's always holding a bouquet of flowers.

-Remember that Obito is by default, a very intimidating person who can scare criminals shitless during interrogations. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty in order to draw out the truth and answers that he needs. He's absolutely scary. Yet of course, only his favorite doctor gets to see his sweet and romantic side because they both make each other melt.

-Rin would always, always prepare a lovely bento for Obito to take with him to work before she gets ready for her day, because Obito loves her cooking and loves anything that makes him think of her in between dealing with stressful cases.

-Last but not least, they definitely, definitely, got freaky in each other's office - which is something Rin initiated because she's a kinky freak. They did it in Obito's office at the precinct, and they did it on her cot at her doctor's office in the hospital, because it's nice to have fun in the middle of work. And yes, they never get caught - although there were several occasions that almost did, hehe.

‘ how much do you value your life? ’

Ino lowered herself on Yugao's armchair, dainty fingers drumming on the wooden surface of it as she pondered the brunette's question. "If my job as a detective is anything to go by..." red lips curled upwards into an ironic smile. "I'd say: not much." The blonde heaved a sigh, knowing that she was simply looking out for her but who did Yugao have to rely on? Uchiha Itachi? She'd rather not leave anything to chance.

"I deal with danger daily. It's what I do. What I chose to do. So, if I go out there and stick out my neck for Commissioner Tsunade, saving and protecting a bunch of people I have never met before...then surely I can try and help out my best friend." Ino put emphasis on the last word, feeling the slightest bit of anger and...hurt? To mask it, she bit her lip and adverted her gaze for a moment. "Unless you have replaced me with Uchiha..." She faced Yugao again, voicing her statement innocently.

It was jarring but not unexpected, she supposed. Compared to what had transpired between them only a few hours earlier (Neji's cold demeanour and scruticizing gaze combined with her pride and temper was simply a recipe for disaster)...now the two of them were getting along. It's not like they had a choice, though. The police department proved itself to be infested with snitches and solving the gruesome case connected to it all was their only saving grace. They had no one but themselves to trust and rely on. Ino was mature enough to know they had no time for petty fights and bad blood. Besides, the Hyuuga was starting to grow on her.

Talking about dating and sex was a nice way to break the ice. The subject was hardly uncomfortable for Ino and though Neji had seemed to feel a certain degree of discomfort, getting tongue-tied at times, he indulged her nonethless, answering her questions with pure honesty. Her hunches about his personal life proved to be right. He had opportunities but his values and principles were stronger than any desire that he might have felt. No romantic relationships because work and no one night stands because he was above such things.

Neji was turning out to be more interesting than Ino had anticipated. She was quiet as he spoke, content to just listen. He skipped a few years... Impressive. She had been paired up with a genius. If anything, that aspect brought her some weird type of comfort. The blonde stole a glance at him and felt her lips curl upwards into a soft smile. She had made him flustered without meaning to. Cute. As soon as he stopped the car, Ino followed his lead and climbed out, the both of them making their way inside. She and Neji seemed to have similar tastes in food, if nothing else. There was something else that pleased her about Chinese restaurants. Much like the Japanese ones, they were more...private. If chosen to do so, they could eat in their own little corner and discuss the case without fear of someone eavesdropping on them.

As soon as they ordered, Ino continued the conversation from where they had left off. "You are as rare as a dinosaur, Neji." she remarked. Waiting for marriage to have intercourse wasn't unheard of, but it was becoming less popular by the second, even in Japan. "I believe sexual compatibility is important to make a relationship work and besides, if feelings are involved, especially then, it'd be a self-inflicted torture to wait. This kind of practice might have worked before because you know, arranged marriages and courtships which lasted two weeks, if that. Even then however, men were required to know what to do and how to do it when the time came so...they weren't really virgins. Those who had money, at least. It was worse for us, women." Ino didn't think that she had to elaborate further on that. A modernist and feminist, women's treatment in the past had always been a bit of a sore spot. However, she wasn't judging Neji for doing whatever he felt was right. He wanted to build a connection, first and foremost. Ino understood that too, even if the cynic in her, the insecure girl who had been cheated and disappointed in relationships had stopped beliving in that sort of thing. Love was painful, a sure way to get your heart broken and she had vowed to never give in again. Lust was easy, it was safe.

Teal eyes softened as she looked at him from across their table. "You didn't strike me as the romantic type, to be honest." she admitted, still pleasantly suprised by such discovery. Ino couldn't deny it. There was a certain allure to old-fashioned love stories and ancient times. She took a tentative sip from her cup of tea, careful not to burn her tongue before winking his way. "I look forward to meeting the woman who will tear a hole through your restraint and self-control. Call it a gut feeling but I'm rarely wrong." Ino could relate to what he said about kissing. One of her childhood best friends, Shikamaru, had been her first so, there was nothing she could say to that. It was simply more comfortable that way but it could also complicate things. She shook the thought away. It was in the past.

So, Neji buried his emotions, avoided intimacy and getting too close to people. Ino had dealt with his type before. Almost. He had some things that set him apart. Properness and very good manners. A grace that she envied, even. She wondered if he had ever cursed or gotten drunk before. Unlikely. “Ah, that explains it.” she murmured to herself as she opened the door and climbed inside the passenger’ seat. For all his experience when it came to intelectual matters, he didn’t know much about romance or relationships period. “If you want my advice, don’t overthink it. Most people make the mistake of trying to come across as someone they are not. Flirting should resemble a river. Of course practice makes perfect but the key is to take your best qualities and bring them to the surface. You are a gentleman, for example and trust me when I say that there are plenty of women who dig that. Myself included. You just need to get out of your comfort zone every now and then because that might not be the last time we will have to pretend for the sake of our job.”

Being a detective was thrilling because you never knew what you had to do next or what kind of storm would be approaching. Acting happened to be one of Ino’s best suits. However, she was sure Neji was strong in many areas where she wasn’t. It was why they were partners. No cop could last long without someone to rely on.

The blonde leaned back into her seat with a purr before she considered what he said. “Chinese, definitely Chinese food.” she nodded to herself, hoping her stomach wasn’t going to make that sort of awful sound again. “If you feel up for something else though, I don’t mind.” Contraire to what some people believed, she was not a picky eater. Not anymore, at least. There had been dark times where things weren’t pink. Bulimia, her teenage struggle. Ino shook her head to get rid of the thought. No point in dwelling on the past. In order to get her mind off it, she turned her head to face Neji, watching him as he drove.

“So, you are really telling me that you have never ever had a relationship before?” The idea didn’t sit right with her. Ino didn’t understand how or why. He might be married to his work but that wasn’t a good enough reason. “I mean, looks aren’t the problem.” she blurted out as she gave him an once over as if to prove her point. Neji was handsome. “I can’t wrap my mind around it. Surely you had options. Opportunities. Something.” Curious beyond belief, Ino continued her assault of questions, much like a confused child would. “One-night stands? I’m not judging but that somehow doesn’t feel like your type of thing.” He was too…nice for that, at least in her opinion. Admirable, truly. “Come on, you must have kissed. If not, we are going to remedy that. Seriously Neji, we can’t have you die on duty without knowing how pleasure feels like first. You’d be missing out. I can be your…wingwoman or whatever.” Ino gestured vaguely with her hand, her expression serious yet no less excited. Hell, she’d kiss him herself if she knew he wouldn’t mind or brood and avoid her afterwards.

Hearing her murmur, Neji had glanced toward her, briefly, before returning his attention onto the car. Once they were set and she had commented on what to do in the situation he frowned slightly, over thinking this statement from her. Perhaps it was something he just couldn’t help.  Placing his hands onto the steering wheel he turned his gaze toward the window at his side, catching his image in the mirror for a moment.  He had already believed that being yourself, would reap the most benefit. Though he had also known he wasn’t always, exactly, himself. There were times he let the mask slip, sure. But everyone had a mask that they kept up, even to those most important to them. There was always a secret self, one deserved such secrets, even. That skeleton in the closet, so to say. Starting the car he he let’s out a breath “Probably not. However, if it is for the job. I’m sure I will come to adapt well.” He says to her them, though sure that she would challenge his comfort level and make learning how to act in the situations like the one just moments ago.

As he was driving her across town, where the restaurants and such had been, he nodded when she answered “ No. Chinese is fine. I’ve always enjoyed it, myself.” Neji had been glad, honestly, that she had picked to go to a Chinese place instead of elsewhere. It would give them time to sit and talk and such. Which had always been one of his favorite things to do with his family, eating together, sharing stories of the day. A small frown appeared on his lips as he thought back to those days, so long ago by then. His uncle hadn’t liked him eating with the rest of the family, since he wasn’t technically a part of it. However, his uncle also was not so cruel as to send him away during meal time either. He just, ignored Neji. It probably made it all feel worse. Like no one had cared about what he had done at school. What clubs he was in, what other activities he did. Perhaps it had been crueler, that way around, instead of just eating by himself.  Staring toward the road, he imagined what he might learn from his new partner.

While he drove to the Chinese place, memories of his former partner and him often eating together while talking about cases had came to his mind. It had hurt, to imagine not having those moments any more with the other. They were the only constant in his life for a time. His best friend, losing that special connection felt like his arms had been chopped off and he was being demanded to do push ups despite it. As Ino had spoke, replying to what he had said to her he blinked and then nodded “Not a romantic one. No. I’ve been busying myself, I suppose.” Neji had told her then. He had sexual appetites, at times. He figured. But something else always seemed to come to mind and the feeling would go away, giving into his next interest. He could be content playing a video game all night over such things. Perhaps, he thought, there was something wrong with him. Everyone else he had known that was his age were out dating people, and clearly having a lot of sex. But he wasn’t so interested in all of that. Preferring to work instead.

“Huh?” He then said at her blurting out that his looks weren’t the problem. Blinking he turned his attention away, focusing on the road “ No. I suppose I am considered more or less ‘handsome’ to others. I’ve been told a few times, anyway.” Perhaps it was because it was his own face, and he had to stare at it every single day of his life. But he thought he looked pretty average, for the most part. He grins a bit then and nods “Oh. Yeah. I did. Especially during college, when I was of legal age. I skipped a few grades so most of my classmates didn’t give me any attention like that. Not until I was nearly graduating. It seems that going to college a few years earlier than you are ment to slows down the offers you receive to…uh, sleep around and date.” Neji cleared his throat, then shrugged his shoulders. Letting out a breath then he continued “ I suppose by the time I fit the legal age for my classmates to take these opportunities. I was already disciplined enough to wait for marriage and focus on my work.” Though he could see the irony in his focusing so much on his work that he couldn’t even find someone to marry.

Shaking his head then he seemed slightly amused “ No. No one night stands. I-” He paused, he couldn’t imagine doing something like that. It would be too much for him, he wanted connections. He wanted someone that would make his world feel less like the ocean and more like an island. Enough for two people, at least. Someone to talk to was valuable to him “ Never really cared much for the whole idea of it. I guess…” His face started to turn slightly red however “ Pleasure…feels like…I-do not plan to die.” He swallowed thickly, not wanting to think about it. Especially since he hadn’t done it, it wasn’t like he was a robot, as much as he would like to pretend “ Ahem, N-No thank you. I appreciate the offer. It is that, I’d rather become close to the person when I…do that.” Neji nodded, he was very sure that’s what he wanted “ Friends, if anything.” He tells her as he pulls into the parking lot of the Chinese restaurant. Cooling off he shook his head and moved to get out of the car, glancing around at the empty parking lot for a moment before waiting for Ino to join him in walking toward the building.

It was clear as day to Ino that Neji’s flirting skills were either rusty or had never actually developed in a proper manner. Whatever the case, it didn’t matter. He was doing…fine. It was actually sort of endearing. Sort of. She was still a little pissed off because of the comment he made earlier. She had to give it to him, though. He was committed to his work, committed enough that he was willing to set aside his holier than thou reputation. ”Finally a gentleman. Most men these days don’t know how to treat a woman.“ she said meaningfully while looking around. Ino didn’t know what urged her to come to his defense but the words had been out of her mouth before she could have stopped them. The jab was clearly directed at the ones making fun of Neji. He was her partner, alright? Sue her for showing some team spirit.

“I could kiss you for suggesting that. Where should we go to eat?” Pretending or not, Ino was actually starving. So, that comment really came from the bottom of her heart. Or rather, stomach. A smirk creased her lips when he scolded the police officers and several detectives. She couldn’t stand slackers either. It went deeper than work ethic, she knew but either way, it was good to see he had a backbone.

Her brows furrowed when a man named Obito blocked their path and started talking their ear off. Ino put her hands on her hips as she waited for Neji to dismiss him. They didn’t have time for such nonsense! She glanced from her partner to the current human pillar ahead. Oh for the love of…Ino thought, exasperated before she took a step towards the dark-eyed man and put on a charming smile. “Hello. Obito-kun, right? I’m Ino Yamanaka and while I can see that your reputation as a capable detective preceeds you…Neji and I have stuff to do.” she winked his way before adding suggestively. “If you know what I mean.”

Her words worked like a charm. Obito had nodded his head solemnly and went as far as to give the Hyuga beside her a ‘thumbs-up’ before removing himself from the door. Once outside the police station, Ino felt as though she could finally breathe again. That was close. And fun. A little. In a masochistic, kind of way. The blonde glanced over at her partner before she laughed softly. “You were a bit out of your element back there but we did good.” she told him before her stomach made itself heard. Ino turned serious all of a sudden. “I hope you were serious about eating.”

At the girls reaction to his attempts to play along with her as well as not be too obvious that he was putting up an act he thought it was amusing, the way she had been acting to what he was doing. Though when she asked of where they would go he hadn’t thought of it at that moment. Neji figured something easy would be in order. Feeling a little guilty for having brought up the entire idea and now, he was also feeling a bit hungry ” Of course, I’m not a liar.“ Neji wasn’t, a liar. He could lie, if he wanted to, or needed to. But generally he would mostly be an open book, to anyone willing to read. Or maybe not, maybe he just needed a little bit of prompting sometimes in order to get talking.

Looking at Obito, he frowned authentically because he was often pretty annoyed by the Uchiha’s working there. They weren’t bad, they were just really suspicious sometimes. It made them seem like they were all up to something. Probably something absolutely insane given how Uchiha’s would just fly off the handle and be dramatic. Or maybe that was just Sasuke. Sasuke seemed to be a special case. Neji thought it was amusing, sometimes. Hearing about the new guy in the Uchiha branch, was like that. When most of them were often quite serious about their jobs. Besides, Obito. Obito was serious about annoying Neji more often then actually sitting at his desk and doing his work. Then there was Sasuke.

Though he looked over when Ino decided to step in, cutting Obito’s conversation off and earning her a look of confusion from the Uchiha. He then looked toward Neji before complying to her. Neji watched the thumb’s up, tilting his head a little before glancing toward Ino. Adjusting the boxes he was holding grinned ” He’s harmless. Let’s get out of here.“ Neji walked toward the door then, exiting the building with Ino. Once they had been outside he looked ahead, moving toward his car as Ino started to talk about his leaving his comfort zone ” Yeah. I am not very good with emotional stuff, people say. So it leaves me often looking a bit awkward or stand offish in social situations. Since most people work with emotional signals.“

He set the box on his car before taking out his keys, glancing over toward her when she was moving around to the passenger side of the car ” Plus we were acting. I am not known for displays like that. It would have been more out of my element if I were to react in such an improper manner, entirely.“ Even though they were trying to sell it as such, he still had to be realistic. He wasn’t a closeted perve waiting for a good pair of breast and a nice ass, and a pair beautiful eyes to walk up to him for him to unlock the ‘sexy beast’ within. Clearing his throat he nervously looked down ” I’ve…also never had a romantic relationship with anyone. So, my skills in that flirting area are, not great.“ He commented, sounding slightly amused with himself.

Placing the boxes in the back seat he finally sits down in the car with Ino and closes the driver side door, starting the car a moment later and pulling out into the street. Speeding down the road he swerved through some cars on his way ” So, were you feeling anything in particular, for eating? Chinese? Pizza? Pasta? Indonesian?“ He questioned as he came to a stop light that had turned red, slowing down perfectly in time. Neji enjoyed driving around at night, less cars, more freedom to let off some energy by driving like a maniac. As they were at the stop light, he tapped the thumb of his right hand against the wheel, waiting for some suggestions for places to eat from Ino, patiently.

It was clear as day to Ino that Neji's flirting skills were either rusty or had never actually developed in a proper manner. Whatever the case, it didn't matter. He was doing...fine. It was actually sort of endearing. Sort of. She was still a little pissed off because of the comment he made earlier. She had to give it to him, though. He was committed to his work, committed enough that he was willing to set aside his holier than thou reputation. "Finally a gentleman. Most men these days don't know how to treat a woman." she said meaningfully while looking around. Ino didn't know what urged her to come to his defense but the words had been out of her mouth before she could have stopped them. The jab was clearly directed at the ones making fun of Neji. He was her partner, alright? Sue her for showing some team spirit.

"I could kiss you for suggesting that. Where should we go to eat?" Pretending or not, Ino was actually starving. So, that comment really came from the bottom of her heart. Or rather, stomach. A smirk creased her lips when he scolded the police officers and several detectives. She couldn't stand slackers either. It went deeper than work ethic, she knew but either way, it was good to see he had a backbone.

Her brows furrowed when a man named Obito blocked their path and started talking their ear off. Ino put her hands on her hips as she waited for Neji to dismiss him. They didn't have time for such nonsense! She glanced from her partner to the current human pillar ahead. Oh for the love of...Ino thought, exasperated before she took a step towards the dark-eyed man and put on a charming smile. "Hello. Obito-kun, right? I'm Ino Yamanaka and while I can see that your reputation as a capable detective preceeds you...Neji and I have stuff to do." she winked his way before adding suggestively. "If you know what I mean."

Her eyes narrowed to slits when he asked her that, confused as to what his deal was. Whether she followed or not trends, what did that have to do with work? And the way he said it, as though they had been standing in an elevator and she just dropped a few levels beneath him. Ino gritted her teeth when she answered. “What I did or didn’t do during my years in college is personal.”

She remembered what her father would have told her were he alive. You must put aside your differences and work together to solve the case. Ino took a deep breath and nodded. “The killer was either the one to start this trend, the one whose name is on the emblem or…anyone involved, really. Think about it. Gangs or whatever this is, tend to have disagreements or even members that either wish to quit, want revenge and so on. We need more leads.”

Ino shared his opinion regarding coruption. The police department had snitches. She rubbed her temples. This was proving to be more complex than she had initially thought. They were alone in this, great. She looked around, at the amount of evidence they had and stood up from her chair to follow Neji’s example. Does he drop formality when he is nervous? Ino couldn’t help but notice how he had used her first name twice. And without any honorofic at the end too.

“I see.” she hummed to herself, deciding to play along. “Yes, you are right Neji. Kids are impulsive and some even hold grudges over bullying or ostracization. I have a master degree in psychology, trust me on this one.” Ino bent down to pick up the boxes, all the while making sure they didn’t leave anything relevant behind. They needed an excuse, however, to leave the building. A good one.

Though the idea of…flirting with her judgemental partner wasn’t something she was particulary fond of, she was sure it was a favourable alternative to getting themselves killed and/or screwing-up the case so badly that they ended up destroying the police department. Do it for your career and all these poor victims. Ino thought before she plastered a smile onto her face like war paint. The blonde meet Neji’s eyes and squeezed his hand as if to signal that what she was about to be doing wouldn’t be out of any attraction from her part. Not that he isn’t good-looking…Ino pushed the thought away and focused on their current objective. She handed over the boxes to him since she needed her own hands available.

“Instead of losing any more precious time on a juvenile case like this, we should improve our teamwork.” She let go of his hand so her fingernails could gently map his jawline and then draw an invisible line all the way down his chest, playing absent-mindedly with his tie. “And we can’t exactly do that in here, can we…Neji?” she purred like a kitten.

Ino didn’t need to look away from her partner to know they already had quite the audiance. Half of them could be the corrupt cops while the other half might as well have been made out of people who up until that point had thought Neji Hyuga was immune to feminine charms.

Seeing her eyes narrow, he had known he had struck a cord. However, he didn’t care. Because she had clearly misunderstood why he had been asking such things about her past. Neji didn’t think he needed to explain himself, either. He simply figured that she would either figure it out later or hold it against him for eternity. The Hyuga would have rather just carried on about the case, and so he did “Of course it is.” He says, as though he only half way believed her. After all, College kids tended to not know the differences between personal and private, especially, Neji had figured out, those that followed trends. What Neji wanted to know was, which line she often fell on. Neji himself would only go out to party during his college days, when he was of age. By then most of his classmates had thought him to be a snob and prudish.

As she started talking he looked back toward the photos, then frowned a bit “ A name on the emblems…Right.” He agreed however, with the rest of what she had been saying “ Alright. We just need to find a weak point in the structure.” Though it was dawning on him the dangerous of remaining inside the building while eyes were on them, perhaps many that wanted to put a halt to his case. Neji wouldn’t let them gets even five steps close to him, backwards or forwards. He was going to stay on top of the pile. Narrowing his eyes then he smirked slightly as he was starting to head out. Though he raised an eyebrow when she pointed out she had a masters in psephology. He quickly dropped the curiosity from his face however, in the next moment.  He paused when she took his hand though, a smile etching onto her face. A slight look of confusion come across his own.

Though he masked it with a smooth, faintly smug smile of his own, picking up her signal to him. Grabbing the boxes she handed to him then he swallowed slightly, glancing down toward them then looking back up toward Ino when she started to talk, her hand moving toward his jaw, freezing, his eyes widened a bit. Though quickly he caught himself, the usual calm coming back over him as he listened to her. He offered a somewhat tight, playfull smile back to her “Yes. That is a great suggestion, Yamanaka. You are new here, it would be unacceptable of me to not give you the proper welcome you deserve."He glances away, turning his head head slightly then as he looked over toward those who had caught them by now ” Mhm.“ His eyes squinting for a moment. As he didn’t believe he wanted to lose his reputation. But the case was always more important. He let out a breath, calming himself down.

"And we should go begin that, by having something to eat?” He leaned in toward her a bit, a playful little grin lightly spreading onto his lips. Though he had never been a very good flirt back. Neji was also trying to make a good show of it. Slowly he turns away, adjusting the boxes he was now holding and heading toward the door “ Come along then. I wouldn’t want to keep you waiting.” He stepped out into the open area, narrowing his eyes “ What are you fools looking at, get back to work, don’t you have murders to solve?” Neji spoke authoritatively. Several of the other officers were whispering or teasingly commenting on Ino’s trying to flirt with a wooden plank. Neji continued to walk toward the exit though, seemingly not being hounded about the case until a Uchiha stepped in front of him “Oh. Obito, you’ve finally decided to show up to work today? Mind, getting out of my way?” He asked the older man as they stood in front of him, watching as they moved in close and started talking to him about a case he had been working on “Great.”
