La importancia de “perderse” en Islandia

Desde que decidí venir a vivir a Islandia, hace más de diez años, recuerdo todas y cada una de las personas que me han visitado, los que quieren concoer todo en poco tiempo, los que no desconectan, aquellos que vienen sin rumbo o los que siempre se dejan algo por ver para regresar. Recuerdo con especial aprecio las palabras de una amiga que se ha hecho imprescindible por sus visitas cargadas de luz y buen sabor en los meses de invierno, en una de nuestras escapadas al medio de la nada en silencio, contemplando la inmensidad de un campo de lava desde uno de mis rincones favoritos del mundo.

"Nos hemos olvidado de que la nada es todo y que este es un sitio donde el cuerpo y mente agradece volver. Donde no hay prisas y lo básico se convierte en el lujo máximo de los que tenemos prisa y no entendemos de contemplación y calma."

Did you know that Vatnajökull, is the largest glacier in Europe? All Icelandic glaciers are temperate glaciers, where the temperature at the bottom of the glacier is at freezing point, sometimes above sometimes below.
