They plan to make a second volumne and I can't wait to see it. This book is already full of great fics and fanarts! 💜

Ten headcanons about spinner please

10) i think i've already mentioned this in the past and some fics but despite what you expect from someone with reptile associations he's not anymore affected by the cold than any other warm-blooded person. and he knows it's a silly thing to get sensitive about but well when people assume he gets a bit heated!! so to say!!

9) he first learned how to use a knife, and in particular knife throwing tricks, from his mom, who is most of the born and bred country rep in his family and grew up with very little else to do and really needed a cool party trick. between her and toga, knife-throwing is his only surefire way to bond with women.

8) who is the biggest bara rep in league of legends. idk mordekaiser looks promising. in any case spinner's first glimmer of realizing that he is gay was accidentally stumbling upon LoL bara doujinshi, on the internet. somehow the continuing fascination for bara did not translate to real life where he keeps going gaga for weird skinny weirdos with disappointing t&a (UNTIL shigaraki's ujiko-provided glow-up)

7) his backup plan for going to the city after seeing stain on tv if he failed to find and join the league of villains was just to hit all the clubs and get laid. but as a virgin and hikkikomori he was very nervous about this option and was kind of relieved that he could just join a terrorist group instead.

6) i used this one in a fic too lmao. as a kid his claws were filed down regularly so that other kids and the rest of the town didn't freak out and think he was gonna gut them. cuz they're evil. as part of the headcanon of it all he does have weird hang-ups and

5) backseat gamer. like, pathological. much like myself as a child watching my stepbrothers play zelda or conker's bad fur day, he will sit over shigaraki's shoulder (and anyone else's i guess but he's literally so under-socialized he doesn't know anyone else who plays videogames irl. sad!) and be like i wouldn't have done that. you're supposed to go over there. why aren't you using all these cheat codes that i know (they don't work). thankfully shigaraki is cool with this cuz he loves to argue. i actually consider this canon enough given that we have now seen spinner hanging over shigaraki's shoulder as he's playing games.

4) were a tumblr equivalent to exist in bnhaverse spinner would have an account and he would try to be crazy stealth and not have it associated to any other social accounts ever and he would be a hater on it and you could not pay him to commit voter fraud for something against his morals (shipping polls) (he would have voted destiel!! he knows he is cas-coded!!) but he would create so many dummy accounts manually by hand HIMSELF like a hard worker to influence results as much as he could. without paying people. or getting bots. he has a pure hater soul.

3) related to the above spinner is a constant hater online. people ask him what does he ever like and he just regurgitates whatever video essay he watched recently that had a nice thing to say. but his hater stances are 100% original. not to say that he never Likes something about anything but he's dogshit at expressing it.

2) part of his issues is that he was very unintentionally detached from any other of his heteromorph-related family that he could relate to (a lot of the family was probably located in cities) aside from whatever parents or siblings, which contributed further to his feelings of isolation from the community he grew up in, and his heteromorphic traits were just enough more apparent compared to the immediate family that he was more targeted by the community he grew up in. so he's both discriminated and marginalized by the community, and has a harder time finding solace in his family to cope.

1 ) i must once again stand by spinner's hybistrophilia. like really specifically his true fantasy is a cool suave older man who does a lot of serial killing and is willing to take spinner under his wing and say ah i see you have a lot of potential. but then he fell in love with shigaraki. that's how you know it's true love. i guess you can argue that shigaraki is an old soul.

ok no one is going to read this but I have to share my experience. I'm visiting Japan for the first time, and yesterday I visited Akihabara. beyond my thirst for little sailor moon knick knacks, I had another mission. one very personal to me. I needed to find supernatural doujinshis. I knew they existed, but my expectations were low. I didn't even know where to find these supposed doujinshis, let alone find supernatural ones. how popular is this show in Japan? who knows

well my ass got launched into a 5 floor mega complex of stuff, and with a friends keen eye, floor 5 was the key. dragging my ass up 5 flights of stairs, I had to know. my legs are burning, im sweating in the Tokyo heat. but i got there.

Wall to wall of books, slim things full of every ship you can think of, whole walls dedicated to one piece characters railing each other, but nothing of what I'm looking for. I'm about to give up, when I see it. The "entertainment" section.

Ok, closer. I see sections of marvel ships, Hannibal, Sherlock (didn't see Dr who so I can't make the joke) . Finally I see it. The supernatural section.

At this point, victory! but I soon wish I never found it. It's. All. Wincest. Theworstpersonyouknow/Jensen rpf. I'm rifling through these damn things and I wanna kms. Is there no taste here!??!!? i wanna throw up. I wish I never found this place. It's cursed.

Luckily I have people around me who are a lot more keen in the eye. It's separated by PAIRING. and all the signs are in Japanese obvi. There was a small Destiel section. I did it!!!! I found it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I cleaned house. 8000 yen later I came away with some beautiful gems. half the stuff I bought is printed fanfiction...in Japanese...which I can't read...but just the fact I have it is enough for me honestly. I did get 3 actual graphic novels though!!! The art is beautiful in all.

Anyway I believe the destiel section was so small was because people with taste bought the rest and no one wants stinky gross wincest bye!!

1. Do you have any kind of mental illness? Diagnosed? No. But I used to take pills to ease my anxiety. Even though I really am a people person and I enjoy talking to people and being outgoing in general, I had problems with leaving my house without feeling utterly anxious due to some medication I took some time before. I haven’t taken the pills for anxiety since approx. the second half of May and I’ve been doing just fine the whole time! :)

2. How did you find tumblr? That’s actually a really interesting question! :D I think that it was around that time when I seriously fell for a fandom for the first time in my life. The fandom was the Attack on Titan fandom and I accidentally discovered tumblr looking for doujinshis ( = fan-created manga, with a pairing subtext) ((basically through looking for more gay porn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ))

3. Pineapple on pizza or not? Pineapple NO-fricking-WHERE. Just the smell makes me sick!

4. Best place to be? Doesn’t really matter as long as the right people are there with me. But I do feel most comfortable around our suburbia. :) I’ve grown up here and have a lot of good memories connected to this place!

5. Do you write? Oh, I do! Only fanfictions though, which is kind of funny because I used to be against writing them and now I can’t imagine myself writing anything else. You can bet that I have at least one fanfiction for each pairing that touched my heart in one way or another. I’m actually currently plotting a new one! :)

6. What makes you happy? So many things. Music, TV Series, Reading, Spending time with my friends, Spending time with my family, Spending time online, Interacting with people, Succeeding, Debating, Rain, Compliments, Money (material girl), Writing, Seeing my work being used etc. etc. there’s a lot of things which make me happy!

7. What was your first fandom? My first fandom with sleepless nights, shipping, reading fanfictions, listening to songs which remind me of certain characters/pairings and with basically everything a real fandom should have was the Attack on Titan fandom!

8. What was the first band you were fan of? If I remember correctly the first band that honestly moved my heart were The Neighbourhood. ♥ They’re still one of my favourite bands of all time, I’ve been to two of their concerts so far and I’d love to attend many more!

9. Did you ever do something that made you think all of your friends hated you? Yeah, I did. It was during a school trip and honestly, it’s so extremely stupid but during that time it really made me feel horrible. Long story short we got to take a sip from a river source in mountains and I just felt incredibly sick after drinking a few drops and my friends became affected with me constantly ranting about how I do not feel well to the point where they began to feel unwell as well. So I, like the big leader I claim to be, decided to let the teachers know that I and my friends do not feel completely alright. That led to the teachers prohibiting all of us from the tour which was supposed to be the next day. Suddenly my friends lashed out on me with how did I dare to tell the teachers that they feel sick when they actually don’t and that I should tell them about my sickness on. They stopped talking to me and it just made me feel really, really bad.

10. What are you afraid of? Not long ago a subway got stuck with me for like 2 minutes and it made me realise that I’m super afraid of getting stuck somewhere, in an elevator for example. I used to have claustrophobia when I was little so I guess these are the remaining aftereffects. :D I’m also afraid of failing and criticism.

11. Thunderstorms or Sunshine? Thunderstorms, no questions here. ♥

12. God or the devil? Science  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

13. TCC (teacher crush community) or TCC (true crime community): What do you think of the relationship between them? I’m terribly sorry but I have no idea what these are! Even if I looked them up I wouldn’t be able to tell you much about the relationship between them since I haven’t heard of them until now. I could do some digging and answer additionally! :)

14. Rain or thunderstorm? Oh my God, rain. Rain. Rain all the way. Raining is my favourite weather. Rain makes everything better in my opinion. If I wake up and it’s raining my mood immediately raises up!

15. Love+hate or complete boredom, but without hate? I actually thought about this question a lot. And I came to the conclusion that a complete boredom without hate can not exist. Anything without any hate seems completely surreal to me. Nothing is only white or black and if it had been then it would have been absolutely boring, as you stated and everything seems better than just ‘nothing’. So, yeah, love + hate!

16. A war for the right moral or no war but a bad government? As much as I hate wars I’d go with the first option in that case. If something is done badly it needs to change. And things are not going to magically change if there’s no action. To be honest I’m almost completely against the government. I despise the idea that someone has the upper hand over me or over anyone, really.

17. Nietzsche or Kant? Nietzche. His way of thinking seems pretty rebellious and somehow ‘anarchistic’ to me and I can definitely relate to that!

18. MBTI or Hogwarts House test? Enneagram. No, really :D Definitely MBTI over Hogwarts House test. But also definitely Enneagram over MBTI. Enneagram is disturbingly fitting, seriously reading about my enneagram type is like reading about my whole self and I love that! While with MBTI there are some things which seem a bit too off at least about my type. That doesn’t stop me from being a total slut for MBT, though. When I meet someone I begin to classify them as one of the 16 types right away! (same goes for fictional characters)

19. Swearing or puns? Honestly, both. But if it comes to me, definitely swearing. I swear so much around my friends that it must annoy the heck out of them. :D Thankfully I can control my foul mouth around children and (some) adults.

20. Psychopathy or sociopathy? Speaking in terms of fictional characters then 100% psychopathy! I love psychopathic characters to the core, almost all of my top favourite characters are psychopaths in one way or another or at least tend to psychopathic behaviour. But in real life, I’m going to go with sociopathy, without a doubt. We have to keep in mind that psychopaths, as charming as they can be, are dangerous people who are capable of doing horrible, inhuman things. Sociopaths are not really a threat to mankind, at least not that much of a threat as psychopaths are.

21. Family or friends? This is a question which, at least in my case, can not be answered. I love my family just as much as I love my friends. I do not have abusive parents and even if we get into an argument from time to time it’s never been anything which would make me ‘hate’ them to the point where I would prefer my friends over them.

22. Sheriarty or Destiel? Saved the best for last, I see. ;^3 Definitely my sweet consulting boyfriends! ♥

Sorry if this question is ageist. But why do older fen (50 yrs+) against newer zine publishers? I see so many complaints about no one making fanzines anymore, but yet they refuse to acknowledge or work with newer publishers. Wouldn't the Fannish Generation Gap close if people on both sides worked together?

Oh, nonnie, why do you always ask me this stuff with no name attached? I get the feeling you want me to say something rude that you can take back to Zinelist and try to get me in trouble for.

To put it simply, there is no single, massive generation gap in fandom. Fans who are 50+ are plentiful on tumblr. Fans who like oldschool media fandom fanzines are here too. Some of them are actively participating in new zines, whether contributing or just buying.

The gap that I have seen is a gap that happens all the time, and it’s not about generations: it’s about being left behind.

Once upon a time, I am told, zine publishers were a Big Deal, and being a prominent zine ed was one of the fastest paths to being a seriously important BNF. There were a lot of people who spent the 80s and 90s clawing their way to the top of the fannish heap. Zines became more and more and more about fic and less about art because that’s what the market wanted. Zines became longer and more physically unwieldy because, again, the market demanded as much fic as possible. Postage became ruinously expensive. Media Fandom diversified, going from a focus on a few megafandoms to demanding a place for multifandom zines and tons of mid-size or even small fandoms, so print runs dropped to the point where those wretched comb bindings were a good option. 

And just when a bunch of pan-fandom BNFs who were at the top of their game had bought a bunch of expensive binding equipment or figured out the right formula to reliably please their audience, the internet came along and curb-stomped all that.

“Where have the zines gone?” means two things in my experience:

1. Fans who are just consumers and who are relatively monofannish and OTP-focused have a hard time moving with the times. The Starsky & Hutch or Professionals fan of today is the Destiel or Stucky fan of tomorrow. Sure, you can read only the great novel-length fic that is specifically recommended to you, but one day, your ship will quiet down enough that you’ll have to make your own party. If you’re the kind who just moves on to the next juggernaut, you’re set. If you’re the kind who has a couple of OTPs and sticks with them for decades, you’re screwed.

Yes, there are new zines on Tumblr, but they’re rarely for the fandoms that were popular for Media Fandom zines in the 80s and 90s.

2. Fans who were big name publishers want new fans to submit to their zines and to buy their zines. They want their names and reputations to be respected. Most of Tumblr will never have heard of the cons they used to go to, much less the fannish pseuds of older zine publishers.

If they wanted to buy new zines, they’d be set, but they don’t: they want to sell zines to a new audience, and this requires social ties on Tumblr that take time and effort to make.

Another problem is the art vs. fic issue: Most zines I see advertised on Tumblr have a lot of art in them. It may be narrative art (i.e. comics), or they may be purely artbooks, or they may have a lot of fic in amongst the art, but they cannot be made except by a zine publisher who has the backing of artists. Because of that, they must also maintain a certain level of physical quality to be worth buying.

If you’re just a consumer, that’s great! I’ve never even seen Hannibal, and I still bought a bunch of copies of RAW. For a very cheap price, I got a lovely, professional-looking product.

If you’re a zine-maker, it’s intimidating, especially if you’re someone who was known for your fic or your ability to get great fic writers to submit to your zine. All of a sudden, your skills are no longer important. Your reputation has vanished.

I find that a certain number of oldschool zine people also honestly believe that zine eds are great structural and line editors, while betas are useless cheerleaders. This assumption is holding some people back. In their view, if younger fans would just give their product a chance, they’d see how superior it is and become a zine fan. My view is that the very worst online fic is worse than what you’ll find in zines, but everything else is exactly the same. Even if younger fans “gave zines a chance”, they might not find anything there to justify paying money for.

The trouble is that some zine publishers are treating it half like a business and half like a fandom project. Either one works, but not a hybrid.

If it’s a fun fandom project that has lots of community buy-in, or it’s just a thing you’re doing with your friends, then it’s reasonable to expect people to help you foot the cost. All of your buddies chip in for the copy shop fees, and then you hand-sew the bindings on your doujinshi, etc. It’s reasonable to expect people to be tolerant of crappy printing and a less than professional physical product.

If, on the other hand, you’re doing zines more like a business, you need to ask what the market wants. You need to ask what price the market is willing to pay for that product. In my experience, the average fan on Tumblr is not willing to pay very much but expects a highly polished product. Complaining that postage and printing costs are ruinous is irrelevant: these fans feel no and have no obligation to help a stranger make a zine. If it’s more fun than some cheap-ass romance novel ebook off Amazon or more tempting than the bazillion fics on AO3, they’ll buy. If not, they won’t.

Honestly, I think the “generation gap” is more about people who used to get what they wanted from fandom, who no longer do, and who are not willing or able to put in the large amount of work it would take to get those things back.
