Streaming Stellaris at 8pm EST!
Had enough of Stranger of Paradise DLC's bullshit so now it's time for THE BALLAD OF PEGLEG PIET, which is to say the Stellaris game I had been playing with Ol' Pegleg Piet.
Sadly, Ol' Pegleg Piet's immunity to death is no longer as impressive as it was, because the mid-game happened and I got the Eternal Throne relic so all my leaders are properly immortal. Kaiser Kattail tried to make his whole Katzenartig Imperium, but unfortunately for him Jublio is in my territory so that didn't work out very well for him.
Great Khan can't happen because the two marauder empires got squashed pretty early on, and the L-Cluster just has the Dessanu Consonance, so the only thing left to really worry about for now is those damn ponies, the Faustian Corporation, who keep trying to declare a Galactic Imperium and making me have to veto it. Dunno why they want it so bad anyways, they already have more diplomatic weight than everybody else in the Galactic Community combined.

To Toshiri,
I found some splintered wood while scavenging another spaceship. It isn't particularly of use to me, it is far too damaged to use, but I thought you would want it to eat. May I send it your way?
Best regards as a fellow builder,
Gray of the Dessanu
You may. I can always eat it as a snack between jobs.
It might save Ichigo a little stress, and stop me from nibbling on one of her baskets.
...That's a joke, to be clear.

And it is done. Was it any of my initial planets? Thankfully no. The only regular terraform in my space? Nope, but that did give the fun and new to me event of subterranian primitives now own the place. Since it was in my core sector it even caused that to disappear. Was it on any of the half dozen or so toxic worlds I terraformed? Also no. And the L-cluster turned out to be the Dessanu, so I was saving that as a last ditch conquer, terraform and hope. Nor was it in the random world that the nearby'ish criminal syndicate didn't colonize, so I took when I went and dealt with them. Nor was it on the size 28 Ocean world that a machine uprising someone else let happen freed up for me to take. It wasn't even the 3 planets I was colonizing while taking on the fallen xenophobes (to also get their 2 uncolonized planets). It was over on Walled Garden, which I was colonizing since I got Zarquon, I mean Zarqlan's head and so didn't have to go and fight the spiritualists to try those two planets.
That's what made the fight only a tiny bit tricky, I had all the army strength one needs to take on either not-Balrog, or Core and Boundary, comfortably, right in start of taking on Boundary when the event happened. Thanks to gateways and wormholes and hyper-relays, I was able to finish Boundary and get the bulk of my armies over and landed in time, while sending a few out to finish everything but Core. And now it is done. I'm going to head back in to see about this one archeology site I've not seen before, and is somehow also not in the wiki, before calling it a game and see what build I can put together for another of the few remaining achievements I don't have that also don't need cheesing or are just really lucky.
Gaming
Will I play something other than one of the two games I usually play? Someday maybe, not today. Time to pick up that Space Dwarf empire and see if I can get the not-Balrog achievement done. Checked in what the regular PvE ship meta is for 3.6, so, probably gonna do fine enough if I end up playing the whole game, to test out said ship meta.

So, I started my fourth Stellaris campaign the other day. My first non-Machine Intelligence empire since my first campaign. And since I wanted to try out LOTS of new stuff, I started a Megacorp. I named it Mahard Egg Farm, after a major American egg producer that got bought out last year, because my Megacorp is birbs that just want to sell everyone eggs.
"I don't want galactic domination. I want to make sure that every man, woman, and child in the galaxy has a delicious and nutritious breakfast - and if I make a fortune doing so, all the better."
I also just got the Distant Stars DLC, which adds a feature called the L-Cluster - an extragalactic bunch of stars populated by nanites, that you can only reach with a device known as the L-Gate - which spawns at random in the galaxy and needs to be reactivated, taking lots of time and research to do. Opening the L-Gate has four potential outcomes.
The first, and easily the best, is finding Gray. Gray can take the form of a powerful warship, a strong Ground army, or an immortal max-level Leader (he’s a giant cloud of nanites).
The second is the Dessanu. They’re peaceful unless you violate the space of their home system or pester them for Nanite tech too much.
The third is the L-Drakes, space dragons that come out of the L-Gate and nest in a nearby system. Once they do, you have the option of adopting one of their young, which will then fight for you basically like a really powerful ship.
Those first three are great. Wonderful. Not a massive threat. Naturally, I got the fourth, and the only one that’s actually DANGEROUS.
The Gray Tempest. Fleets of ships made entirely of Nanites come pouring into the galaxy through every L-Gate except the first one to activate, unless that’s the only one. Naturally, mine was the only one. They start with four fleets of 40k Military Power each.
My entire navy was MAYBE 30k. And I had the strongest military in the galaxy. Had I not wantonly abused cheat codes, that’d have been game over. BUT, because I chose the Scion origin (you start as a vassal of an immensely powerful Fallen Empire, a race that once dominated the stars but fell into a dark age). So I’ve headcanoned it that my benefactor killed them for me.
