Dalek Week 2021 - Day 2 - Role Reversal

After the newly-indepedent Scottish royal family is assassinated, Europe is thrown into war. The sole survivor of the attack, Princess Deryn, disguises herself as her late brother in the hopes that the crown prince’s “survival” would help rally Scotland’s morale. But Deryn’s tutors didn’t cover military history, let alone teach her how to fight. Now Deryn has to learn how to be a soldier on the fly, all while keeping her true identity a secret.

Her only allies are a loris named Bovril, and Alek—a Clanker mechanic stuck on the wrong side of the trenches, who doesn’t know exactly how he got saddled with the responsibility of protecting a prince.
