After a busy weekend, where I would have liked a day between Sunday & Monday to just regroup. But yesterday was still so much fun, helped volunteer at a fund raiser for the Monash Children's Hospital with @heavyhaulers1 then joined in the fun as well. Left on such a high positive note. #octoberspiceyoga #yogachallenge Days 5-8 🙏 5. Easy Pose - with tight hips I find sitting cross legged hard, I can't sit in it for long, unless I have a block 💟 6. Lolasana (not even! I've never done it and it's not remotely close to the actual pose, but we start somewhere right 👍 7. Tree Pose - I enjoy the balance challenge of tree pose but now I realize seeing a photo of it my hips aren't even in this pose. 🌳 8. Headstand - but I can't do that, so a pose to work up to it is dolphin pose, so that's my pose instead 🐬 I've been feeling really hard & down on myself this last week, the negative self talk is just running rampant and finding inner calm has been extra hard lately. It's a seriously hard mental game to reeve myself up for a Sunday afternoon #HIIT session, it's so much easier doing it with others to help feed of their energy. But I did it regardless, watching my own reflection. My training schedule is changing now that I have placement at a private gym two nights a week. It means getting up earlier and making my Sunday a non-rest day now. I nearly caved in at the 20min mark, but told myself it's just 10 more mins, do whatever modifications you have to do to get through it! It's 30mins of your day girl! 1. Balasana - Child's Pose 2. Adho Mukha Svanasana - Downward Facing Dog 3. Trikonasana - Triangle Pose 4. Chaturanga Dandasana . I'm finally inspired (and brave enough) to join in the October Monthly Yoga Challenge by @beachyogagirl & @kinoyoga. I started doing yoga about 8 years ago at home and only in the last 2 years have joined classes, but I've never gotten to the advanced poses. I first started to calm my mind, stretch dynamically and it's taught me to breath well and find an inner calmness (which I'm still working on). I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a ridged and stiff body type. I hold a lot of tension in my body. I'm not highly flexible and I've learnt through my diploma that I've got to work a lot on my shoulder mobility, fix my lordosis (anterior pelvic tilt) and rounded shoulders. I feel very intimated by some of the very inspiring flexible yogis on social media, who demonstrated some very advanced moves, so much so it's daunting and I feel like a lumpy starfish compared. But I'm not going to let that stop me, cause we are all at different stages in life and/or fitness ✌️ . Having very rarely taken any photos of myself during yoga poses, I always felt like my bum was way lower on child pose 🙊 & like @noniponyhappy explained once I got the hang of down dog, I now find it an excellent stretch to be in, esp after training. It's only recently that I've been able to master Chaturanga, as my shoulders & abs get stronger 🙏 #yoga #nameste #activeliving #health #wellness #mentalhealth #fitness

Dinner & movie, seeing The Martian 🎥✨🚀 Fast food or take away can be a hurdle, esp when on strict meal plan, but it's possible to stay on track (carb free for me). The Viet Salad at Roll'd now comes with prawn crackers, 🍤 so I just simply give them to Leigh. I've tried ordering without but regardless they appear on the plate. Eating before a movie means a full tummy which means no need for movie snacks either. I've learnt to use my (precious) spare time more efficiently since I've started studying. I watch about 1 hour of TV 4 times a week but during that down time I'm now off the couch and on the floor on my mat stretching, doing mobility stretches (hips & shoulders mostly), foam rolling and yoga stretches while watching TV. I don't know about you but I find stretching incredibly calming so it seems like a perfect pairing with chilling out in front of the TV 😉👍 #mobility #fitness #health #yoga #stretching #lululemon #activeliving #movenourishbelieve

So what do you do when you come across an amphitheater at Emerald Lake on your 5km walk? Why you do a quick 10 min circuit of course! 👊 I did 4 laps side squat step ups each leg, then 3 x 20 steps ups, 3 x 10 tricep dips, 3 x 10 push ups (kiss the grass!), 3 x 10 elevated single leg planks and was on our way again. I love the concept of this, no weather excuses allowed, plus functional self paced and a full body HIIT workout. Today was a partner training session and it's so good to have someone there push you and work with.
