Once again thinking about that fic idea I had AGES ago about Pennywise from It appearing in Derry, Ireland instead of Derry, Maine. I need Michelle to Moltov cocktail him with alcohol no one knew she had on her. I need Erin trying to make a really bad poetic connection between the monster and the English. I need the clown trying miserably to find something that would actually scare Orla.

Most importantly, I need the fic to end with a long winded story from Colm no one's listening to until he mentions having defeated It in his youth and everyone going fucking insane.

Ryan Lelensky Hockstetter’s life has been steeped in pain and complexity from the very beginning, a series of twisted events leading to his eventual entanglement with Henry Bowers' gang. Born into a broken home, he was raised in the shadow of his older brother, Patrick, and his cold, withdrawn sister, Mariana. Their mother, Janice Hockstetter, had an affair with a Japanese man during a trip to Japan, resulting in the birth of Mariana. This affair shattered their father, John Hockstetter, leaving him a broken man—a widower by circumstance, though his wife was still alive in Japan. Janice eventually died in an accident, a loss that Ryan met with indifference. To him, she was already gone, a distant figure who had destroyed their family. The real tragedy in his mind was the pain John endured, left behind with two sons and a daughter born from his wife’s betrayal.

John clung to his "beautiful" sons, especially Patrick, whom he seemed to adore despite Patrick's increasingly disturbing behavior. Patrick, a solipsist and psychopathic boy, showed no interest in family or connection, instead viewing others as mere objects in his twisted world. Ryan grew up under Patrick’s cruel shadow, enduring constant manipulation and bullying at the hands of his own brother. Patrick thrived on control, and Ryan, already fragile from the emotional neglect of his parents, became an easy target. Mariana, always distant and cold, watched from the sidelines, never intervening. She was the quiet embodiment of the family’s shattered dynamic, her existence a reminder of the betrayal that broke their home.

Ryan was different from his siblings, a sharp and intelligent boy, though his smarts often alienated him. He was deeply introspective, which set him apart in a town that favored brute strength and cruelty. His intelligence, however, couldn’t shield him from the bullying he endured—not only from Patrick but from the wider world of Derry, Maine. He was mocked for his quiet demeanor, his delicate features, and his withdrawn nature. These experiences of cruelty took their toll on him, and Ryan soon began to suffer from self-harm, finding a twisted release in the physical pain that seemed to match the emotional agony he kept hidden.

It was during this dark time that he crossed paths with Henry Bowers. Drawn into the gang’s orbit by sheer circumstance—mostly due to Patrick’s involvement—Ryan found himself becoming one of them, though he never truly fit in. Belch Huggins and Victor Criss, more grounded than the rest, were easier for Ryan to tolerate, though they, too, were far from friends. Henry, with his rage-filled leadership, saw Ryan as just another body to fill out his gang. Ryan’s intelligence and perceptive nature went unnoticed by Henry, who saw weakness where there was, in fact, resilience. The gang gave Ryan a place to hide, a place where his pain could be buried beneath layers of violence and fear. It wasn’t a brotherhood—it was survival.

Patrick, however, continued to torment Ryan even within the gang. Patrick’s behavior became increasingly erratic, his cruel games escalating as he enjoyed the power he held over his brother. To Patrick, Ryan’s suffering was just another form of entertainment, something to manipulate and exploit. Ryan’s attempts to resist his brother’s control only deepened the rift between them, and his relationship with Patrick became a constant source of torment. Mariana, though always cold and detached, occasionally offered a brief moment of understanding, though her silence was often more chilling than comforting.

Despite all this, Ryan’s sharp mind kept him aware of the darkness around him, though he often felt powerless to escape it. He saw through the gang’s posturing, saw Henry’s rage for what it was—an outlet for his own deep insecurities. He understood Patrick’s psychopathy, knew that his brother’s warped worldview would one day destroy him. But Ryan was trapped, unable to break free from the cycle of violence, bullying, and emotional torment that had defined his life.

Ryan’s story is one of survival in a world that constantly tried to break him. His scars, both physical and emotional, tell the tale of a boy who was never allowed to truly live for himself, always caught in the orbit of those more cruel and more broken than he was. His intellect may have been his greatest asset, but in Derry, it was also his curse.

Hi! I feel awkward writing to you to plug something else but my colleague thought it would be a good idea so here goes:

If any of your followers speak French and like old cinema, as well as 2010s mediocre Twilight inspired YA, then you might be interested in my podcast! Our latest episode is about Beauty and the Beast (1946, with hot vintage contestant Josette Day) and....*sigh*... Beastly (2011, yes the one with Vanessa Hudgens).

Despite the offense to cinema, it's fun and we have other episodes out, including bend it like Beckham, the mortal instruments/Ruby red, the perks of being a wallflower, Derry girls (with an episode in English, highly recommend that one, it's an interview with a northern Irish person), and a "triple feature" episode with Bridgerton, never have I ever and the summer I turned pretty (with a journalist guest).
