Random Homestuck Pixel Viewer

Sorry if it is weird that this is written in the second person, but it kind of is meant for a particular individual.

So, I learned about your blog through the official link in the Homestuck homepage, just last monday. You are an extremely talented artist. Oh, but you must get that all the time. I promised a gift.

So, the credit was for making the sprites and therefore I was drawn to them. Some were animations and the windows image viewer does not play them, so I have to open them in firefox. Something stupid about my configuration, surely; I could swear they used to work. Anyways, obviously the solution was to write a little webpage with all of them in there for me to admire, but that was far too simple and I kept messing and it eventually spiraled into a whole thing, which I decided it was only correct to share back with you, the artist.

The name is a pun that sprung to my mind because you keep calling your sprites "pixels", which I found weird. I refuse to apologize for it though. Also, it needs javascript, for which I do apologize if it proves inconvenient, and promise it's not a virus. I can only write one virus anyways and it's a pretty pathetic one. Also, while I tried to grab all sprites, I only checked those tagged as "pixels", so if you have untagged ones they will not show up. I can update this thing if that's the case and if you want.

This was going to be an email but I couldn't find yours, it's probably not published in yours. A wise move. My answer, then, was to sign up for a blog of mine so that I could use it to deliver this thing.

And here it is. I hope you enjoy clicking it at least half as much as I enjoyed writting it. (Also, holy hell, divshare still exists).

As for anybody else reading this thing: how? This is literally the only page in this blog, and will be for a while. Does people go around typing random blog names to see what's with them? Maybe you wanted the name? (In which case, sorry).

Anyway, you can have the viewer too. The images are obviously not mine, but the artist has repeatedly said that they can be used freely, as long as it is not for profit. I hereby release my part too, under the terms of, oh let's say, the Open Game License. No, that's not supposed to make sense.

As for the future of this site, I do have at least one more thing to share, but it will have to wait.

Update!

I just realized that I'm an idiot and forgot to credit the original artist. It is feastings. I think the name is supposed to be lowercase? Sorry if it's not. <digress>Mine's sinkingTime, like in javascript</digress>.

Also, that same feastings published a third sprite pack, which of course moved me to remake the file to add the new ones, and also to update the filenames of others. Now only very few are called "tumblr-something". But more importantly, the original file has been deleted from my divshare, because it is about 60% full. The link above is to the new one, the old link is lost forever and wouldn't work anyways. Thanks.

So, I made a stupid mistake and cropped the list of image names in the second version to only the last 299 (out of 434). I have, of course, just fixed this and re-uploaded it for what I expect to be the last time.

An apology to all the hipothetical people who can care about those things, and a double apology to the subset of those people who will not read this. Oh well.
