Neith’s TGCF Fic Recs:
I’ve never made a rec list before, but for Christmas, I wanted to share some (not all—by god, we’d be here forever) of the fics saved to my kindle, some of my bookmarks, and some of my friends’ works (with overlap between those categories).
In no particular order:
tell you every day by scrapimmortal
Adorable amnesia Wulian oneshot that makes me smile.
melt (i’d tell them; put me back in it) by scrapimmortal
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve read this, I would have many dollars; perfection.
The flap of a butterfly’s wing by Ameji
Really enjoyed the political and personal drama in this one. A fun, exciting read that got me thinking about how to approach my own fics.
Pig in the Garden by illuminatingsceadugunga
I love FengQing’s heads exploding over hualian being married pre-third ascension; it’s delightful—very fun fic!
The Supplicant by ardenrabbit
The anticipation in chapter 1 was literally killing me; so excited to see more!
Land of the Callous by starvingwritist
A very fun, well-constructed truth serum Xianle quartet fic; Hualian are perfect for each other, truly. Couldn’t wait to see what would go wrong (and right)!
Heaven is Overwhelming by crispytaco
I love selective mutism fics; this one is very sweet! Comfort read.
there’s no rush by miska_za
Very sweet marathon sex; another comfort read.
quiet like stains by haysel
This soulmate AU has permanently altered my brain. It’s my favorite modern AU.
and the rain won’t make any difference by haysel
The atmosphere and the emotion? Out of this world. Love at first sight that takes your breath away. So sweet.
Your Courage, Your Despair by boomchick
I think about this fic at least once a week. Hualian hurt/comfort is my favorite thing.
‘Til our compass stands still by edenwolfie
Cannot watch the s2 opening of the donghua without getting nostalgia for this fic. Love the OCs. Love the characterization of XL. I would live in this fic if I could.
The Road I Walked Alone by aewea
Gives me literal chills every time (love it). What would happen if the play at the Mid-Autumn Banquet was actually the 100 swords scene.
We Stan Scrap Gege! by paidsubscription
Couldn’t stop laughing and smiling. Love this author’s AUs. Always so well thought out. And the “ghost citizens” are amazingly written!
The southern guide to a happy marriage by illuminate
The way this author writes Mu Qing makes me feral. FengQing get married before Xie Lian ascends a third time. It’s horny. It’s fun.
I can feel your halo by illuminate
Probably my favorite fengqing fanfic; I’ve read it a dozen times! Mu Qing’s spiritual powers are stolen, and he takes full advantage of them being gone to fulfill some long-buried desires.
common love isn’t for us by nobirdstofly
A really fun, dynamic piece that plays with FengQing’s deputy disguises. Hot too!
I Want to Ki** You by tyelperintal
I love every interaction Xie Lian and Mu Qing have in this piece, especially when XL gives way too many details about his sex life in order to help MQ navigate his desire for FX.
Wu Ming Loving Hours by featherpoet
A cute and inventive what-if. A canon divergence from Wuming’s death.
When I Was Older by corduroyserpent
An emotional time travel fic I love. Read it twice. Plan to reread soon!
Nameless Longing by corduroyserpent
A follow-up to the above fic; the “good boy” lives rent free in my brain. A roleplay Wulian fic with a twist ending.
Against All Odds by yuushoku
A really sweet royalty AU where Hua Cheng has to pass three trials to wed Xie Lian. Comfort read.
bring a light by uraa
A cute wangxian/hualian crossover!
charcoal daydreams by beesinspades
One of the first fics I read for this fandom! The first tgcf fic I ever downloaded! Artist HC runs into his old crush when XL applies to be his model.
steady love (in a place we know) by beesinspades
Hurts my heart but in a good way; it’s like missing someone who’s right in front of you. Hualian go on a road trip.
Is he, you know, a follower of Ju Yang? by airawyn
Very cute! Love the fengqing dynamic and banter!
Your Touch Means Everything to Me by fayleen
Love the tension in this one! A canon-divergent first kiss after the Banyue arc.
The State of You by peppaspray
Hot and sweet! Hua Cheng trying to seduce his husband in different forms.
to be seen by blessinglanterns
An interesting look at Hua Cheng coming back from being dispersed on Tonglu. Very sweet.
If you love me for me by fullmetalpotterhead
A really adorable royalty AU where Hua Cheng needs to marry Xie Lian for political reasons but quickly falls in love with him after he disguises himself in order to meet XL before their wedding.

I just wanna talk about how they decided to design Fu Yao and Nan Feng in the anime based off Mu Qing and Feng Xin for a bit.
When I started the anime and then read the books before restarting the anime yet again I got quite confused for some time as of who is who. In my mind Fu Yao was Feng Xin and Nan Feng was Mu Qing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you’re not very familiar with their personalities and overall physical particularities the anime is quite confusing.
I don’t know why they decided to give Fu Yao FX’s hair color and Nan Feng MQ’s one. This created so much confusion in me whenever I watched the anime and even when I read the first book for the first time.
But when you take a closer look you realize how much the deputy generals look like their heavenly official. First their bangs are the exact same, if not a bit longer, and they also truly have the same eyes, FY has sharp and very pretty eyes when NF has thicker brows and more charisma in them.
To take Xie Lian’s words in the first book during their first meeting he says « The one on the left side was taller, with deep brows and handsome features, and his eyes carried a sort of unbridled wildness. » this obviously talks about Nan Feng so indirectly Feng Xin.
He then says « The one on the right was extremely fair, elegant, and poised. His expression was a bit overly distant and cold, making him look as if he was extremely displeased. » and this screams Fu Yao so Mu Qing.
At first it’s rather confusing in the anime to be fair but when you get to know them and their temperament as well as get used to their features it becomes so obvious, and once again I’m wondering HOW THE FUCK did Xie Lian not find them out right away. They’re perfect copies of their true self, some details put aside they really are just a slightly different version, like they’re cousins or even brothers to themselves.
Also to talk about he manwha version, they’re total look alike. They just look fairly younger and a bit wilder/more reckless, they look like if they had a kid and he turned out to look so much like them.

I am wondering about Feng Xin and Mu Qing's first fight as Martial Gods of the South. Imagining that during Xian le era their fights were usually verbal bickering with each other and the hand to hand one was only during sparring.
So after ascending they never had a full blown fight. So imagining a scenario where after a meeting all the Gods are moving out and due to some comment now the two Southern Gods are facing each other like two tigers sizing each other up. Of course every heavenly official (are more like those gossiping neighborhood aunties🤣👀) is anticipating this showdown with fervour, after all the tragic story of Xian le Kingdom is something everyone has known, but to see a drama unfolding between two Gods of the most popular tale ;nobody wants to miss. They are all betting against whose gonna win and blah blah.
First MQ and FX are simply arguing and throwing barbs and insults. But than MQ says something and FX loses his cool and actually punches MQ using his power and MQ crashes in a nearby pillar. FX is flabbergasted because he didn't had any idea about his strength and is about to react before a spirit ball is thrown at him and he also crashes on the fountain in the middle of the Grand avenue.
The other heavenly officials definitely loved gossiping and betting, but they are also speechless because of the damage the two Southern Gods had done. Once this starts, there's no turning back MQ and FX attack each other in full swing not at all caring about anything and anyone. Earlier the officials were cheering and applauding for them, but now they're dragged in this crossfire as well(it's fun to imagine officials cheering and than getting accidentally hit with spiritual blasts😂 or rubble falling on them from the infrastructure). They are now definitely scared and scramble away for their lives. FX and MQ both are covered in injuries, bleeding and panting harshly but not backing down. Some brave officials try to intervene and stop them get non intentionally thrown away to the other side of heaven.🤣
I have a separate scenario for Pei Ming here😉. PM has just returned from a mission when he sees the officials gathered around what seems to be like an arena and his deputies explain it to him about the situation. PM himself has heard about the Xian le story and is intrigued. He has never closely seen the two newly ascended Gods and wants to see what's gonna happen. He sits in a high balcony from where he can get a clear view of the two and his deputy keeps on updating him about the Xuan Zhen and Nang Yang in picture (basically gossiping about their backstory). PM is definitely enjoying this show down alongside his deputies, apart from the drama he wants to study their Xian le fighting style and techniques and blah blah. He is enjoying before the situation escalates and the newly ascended Gods are now adamant in destroying the heavenly property.💀 When PM sees that none of the other officials are able to break their fight he himself descends to the arena to put a stop as the fight has dragged for too long and it's no longer an entertainment but an actual serious situation. He initially (as you all know) gives them his charming smile and chides them like he's talking to little kids but than MQ passes a comment and FX reacts and they start all over again and this time when PM actually steps to bodily intervene he also accidentally becomes a victim of a spiritual ball (its hilarious to imagine PM's handsome face getting covered with soot and his hair in disray). Now PM actually loses his calm and actually smacks the two of them on their head(FX and MQ both are tired +PM is stronger when he actually gets serious). MQ and FX finally fall down because of exhaustion and sporting similar bumps on their head.(You know like the Shinchan scene where Mitsi hits Harry and Shinchan and they grow bumps on their head😂) something like this 👇
Tumblr media
Finally the fight comes to a stop and other heavenly officials start weeping (╥﹏╥) and thanking General Ming Guang for saving the heavens from destruction .MQ and FX had to be admitted to the medical pavilion. The next day another meeting is held and Jun wu although exasperated actually finds it amusing to see the two Southern Gods bandaged from head to toe. The one holding their reigns is PM and he also sports a bandage or two on his face 👀 (PM is sulking). JW actually comments on that huhu and PM actually glares at the two and they shiver like two younger brothers who are disciplined by their older brother.(I have mentioned in my earlier post also about how I like PM to have that annoying big brother energy🤭). Ling Wen is on the other side of JW nursing eyebags and a headache because she had to stay awake all night calculating all the damages the Southern Gods had done to the heavenly property including injuring other heavenly officials.
So yah this is the first and many other fights yet to witness in the heavens. But at least the other heavenly officials learnt their lesson about how to stay feets away from General Nan Yang and General Xuan Zhen during a fight and never to intervene if they value their lives.😁
(Just my head Canon 😆)

from a clown-ass thing i never finished where Feng Xin is sick and dying because another god is usurping him as a fertility god. his new, way-too-pretty deputy, zheng yanhan comes crying to MQ to get his help. Mu Qing is like "ok, fx, you just have to get a proper wife to compete with this guy" and his aide is like "i'll marry you, sir 8_8" and FX is like "uh, no thanks..." and MQ realizes the deputy is a lady in a boy's uniform. fx took her in because she was having a shitty time under another god and fx just let everyone think she was an extremely beautiful guy by omission.
(obviously the proper solution is for mq to masquerade as a lady and marry fx)

Super Hornets Hit Houthi Missiles Prior To Launch In Yemen (Updated)
This is the third day in a row that the U.S. has carried out preemptive attacks against Houthi missiles being prepared to launch. 🚀
Howard AltmanPUBLISHED Jan 18, 2024 3:48 PM EST
Super Hornets from the aircraft carrier Dwight David Eisenhower struck Houthi missile installations today.
U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Michael Battles
The U.S., using F/A-18E/Fs Super Hornets from the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, carried out another preemptive attack on Houthi missiles in Yemen on Thursday.
“U.S. Central Command forces conducted strikes on two Houthi anti-ship missiles that were aimed into the Southern Red Sea and were prepared to launch,” CENTCOM said in a statement. “U.S. forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen at approximately 3:40 p.m. (Sanaa time) and determined they were an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region. U.S. forces subsequently struck and destroyed the missiles in self-defense.”
This is the fifth attack against Houthi targets in Yemen since the Houthis began attacking Red Sea area shipping and the third day in a row that the U.S. has struck missiles being prepared to launch.
The U.S. conducted a preemptive attack against 14 Houthi missiles on Wednesday and another preemptive strike against four Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles on Tuesday. The U.S. previously struck a Houthi radar site with a Tomahawk Land Attack Missile fired by the Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Carney on Jan. 13. That came after U.S. and U.K. aircraft, surface ship and submarine attacks on more than 60 targets hit at 28 sites in Houthi-controlled Yemen on Jan. 12.
Earlier Thursday President Joe Biden was asked by reporters if the strikes against the Houthis were working.
“Well, when you say ‘working, are they stopping the Houthis?,” Biden responded with a question of his own: “No. Are they going to continue? Yes.”
Asked to respond to that statement during a press briefing Thursday afternoon, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters, including from The War Zone, that the Pentagon “never said that the Houthis would immediately stop. That is something that they will have to make that decision and that calculation to do. It's in their best interest I think to stop. You've seen that we've been able to degrade and severely disrupt and destroy a significant number of their capabilities since Thursday, but it's really on them when they decide that they want to stop interrupting commercial shipping innocent mariners that are transiting the Red Sea.”
There were indications of an incident in the region involving another vessel, but officials could not immediately confirm that.
In addition, neither Singh nor CENTCOM could immediately confirm reports that a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down near Baghdad Thursday.
If verified, this would be the second Reaper shot down since the start of the Israel-Hamas war Oct. 7. Houthi militants in Yemen reportedly shot down a Reaper off the country's coast earlier Nov. 8, which you can read more about in our original report here.
This is a developing story. We will update it when there is more news to report.
Update: 5:53 PM Eastern -
UKMTO issued another report, this time about an unnamed merchant vessel in the Gulf of Aden observing four "unidentified Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS)" flying near the ship, with one landing in the water about 800 meters away.
"Vessel and crew are safe and proceeding to their next port of call."
The Houthis, meanwhile, put out statement claiming to have struck a vessel called the Chem Ranger with "several appropriate naval missiles, resulting in direct hits."
The War Zone could not immediately verify this claim.
The Houthi statement adds that it will continue hitting shipping and conduct strikes in retaliation for the ongoing attacks conducted in Yemen by the U.S. and U.K.
"The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that a retaliation to the American and British attacks is inevitable, and that any new aggression will not go unpunished."
"The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that navigation traffic in the Arab and Red Seas will continue to all destinations around the world except for the ports of occupied Palestine, and that the block of Israeli navigation or heading to the ports of occupied Palestine will continue until the ceasefire is achieved and the siege is lifted in the Gaza strip.
"The Yemeni Armed Forces continue to implement their defensive and offensive procedures within the legitimate right of defense of dear Yemen and in confirmation of continued solidarity and support for our steadfast brothers in the Gaza Strip."
We've reached out to the Pentagon and CENTCOM for information about this claim and will provide details if they become available.

I wonder if the dog pack has special access to Xuan Zhen’s palace?
Like the few first times they went in, the deputies tried to chase them out (didn’t work), MQ knew from the grapevine that they are FX’s and he loves them very much, so just told his deputies to let them do what they want. Just make sure to clean their messes.
They would come into his office, sniff him, awkwardly receive head pats and leave again
Even if they didn’t, they’d probably go in anyways (what are the deputies going to do about it? hurt Nan Yang’s dogs? hit them with a broom? they can’t)
Luckily MQ’s nice enough to let them in. I love the image of him patting them in the most awkward way possible. The dogs love him so much though, so they still appreciate it
If FX ever wonders where the dogs are in Heaven Realm, all he has to do is go looking in Mu Qing’s palace

DIFFERENT HOCKEY ENSEMBLE AU FIC NOTES
Since @pact-warlock reminded me I had written this, here is me essentially ctrl+a, ctrl+v posting the notes I made for a hockey au a few months ago! are there spelling errors and weird bits? yes, but these are just personal notes I wanted to put out there because they are fun to me!
On The Ice | Off The Bench
College Hockey Team AU
XL is the team captain but HC is the best player on the team, not very sociable so didn’t get captain.
3 year story series, starts with xl and hc as sophomores
(class years for year 1 of fic)
Seniors - 2 above old: JW
Juniors - 1 above old: PM/LW
Sophomores - Old : XL/HC/SQX/yinyu
Freshmen - Mid: MQ/FX/LQQ/quanyizhen
Seniors in hs - Young:QR/LQQ’s deputy (idk his name 💀)
HuaLian:
Offensive starters, HC is best on the team, but always plays bad unless he is on a line w/ XL, says he prefers to play wing but only because he likes when XL is center. Hc gets into trouble w/ the coach alot bcs of that, and thats kinda the sticking point b/t XL and HC, with HC wanting to cling to XL, but XL forcing HC to play in a line w/o him for a playoff game which they win, but beef after for a lil if that makes sense. Xl has a like ‘dont hold yourself back for me,’ and hc has a like ‘there is no point without you’ moment, ‘idgaf that we won if i cant celebrate with you’
FengQing:
Defensive line together, always try to do better than e/o, and always complain about having to play w/ the other / ‘the other is throwing’. But play best together, and hates when anyone else blames their partner for a bad play
BeefLeaf:
QX and MY are a defensive line together, they wont have too much drama besides MY being revealed to used to have been known as HX before he moved, aka QX’s childhood rival or smth, so minor beef but mostly love bcs im too sad already
Other characters: Lan Qianqiu: other wing on xl and hc’s line
Qi Rong: Obsessed w/ the team, cheers like a psycho but harasses them when they lose. Starts as an obsessed local highschool senior, but in year 2 becomes a freshmen at the school and harassment goes WAY UP
Mei NianQing: Coach! Mentored Jun Wu from a young age, and turned his attention to XL after JW left. A fair coach but a lil biased to XL. Mad at HC for intentionally throwing if he isn’t on XL’s line
Jun Wu: year older than the rest, has gone pro now but still comes back and harasses XL
Pei Ming: Goalie
Ling Wen: Team manager (1 girl gets delegated rip)
Lqq’s assistant: team manager after lw leaves, gets position as a fresh so team gives him sm shit but lqq protec
YY/qyz: YY knows qyz from hs, both rlly good but qyz is better even tho he is a year younger which at first yy cant accept, but he eventually comes around and helps qyz grow (yy has more skilsl, where qyz has pure talent if that makes sense- yy helps teach qyz all of his skills)
Series order/planning:
First-year
Fengqing(season)
Beefleaf(season)
Hualian(playoffs)
Second year
LQQ x lil guy (off-season)
QuanYin (season)
MingLing (playoffs)
FIC TITLES
BeefLeaf: The Man You Know Isn’t The Boy You Knew
FengQing: I’ll Have Your Back
HuaLian: Without You Why Care At All
LQQxLil Guy: Tender Hearts / Firm Hands
MingLing: Let Me Prove It
QuanYin: Warming Our Ice / Melting Our Past
《FengQing Hockey AU!》
Tumblr media
Feng Xin is a hockey player having grown up surrounded by the sport
Mu Qing is an ex- figure skater who converted to hockey to get a scholarship to the college they go to so he could save his mom’s money
Feng Xin gets captain, but hates how Mu Qing always gets the fans attention for being handsome, a good skater, ect ect
Angry, a video of Feng Xin insulting Mu Qing while drunk at a frat party goes viral but the next day Mu Qing isn’t at practice or his classes
feeling guilty (and after being told by his coach) feng xin goes to Mu Qing’s dorm but sees that he is gone, he later learns from a teammate that MQ went back home to visit his mom in the hospital, and then he really feels bad
almost a week after the original video, their team has it’s first play off match which they loose narrowly to a team they should’ve been able to beat. after the game, a reporter asks Feng Xin how he felt about this loss
he says they only lost because Mu Qing wasn’t there and that once they get their star player back the team is sure to clean sweep the playoffs.
the reporter then asks feng xin if he is mad at mu qing for being gone on such an important game
he says to the camera, no because he will be back soon, and make up for it all
which is the nicest thing FX has ever said to/about MQ
their next game is in a week, and the whole team pesters FX about where MQ has been/how he reacted to the video/when he will be back, but FX doesn’t reply to them
and when he arrives he sees MQ struggling to get his skates on while being mobbed by the team complaining he missed a play off game, and asking where he was
FX just tells them all to get dressed and on the ice before he himself sits down by his little changing room cubby (locker? idk the term) which is next to MQ’s
all he says to his teammate before they go on the ice is a quiet sorry as the two get dressed for practice.

NATO mum in wake of Russia downing US drone; 'time to show steely resolve' says expert
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has yet to comment publicly on the downing of a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone by two Russian SU-27 fighter jets this week, in what one NATO expert says may be an “overabundance of caution.” “There should be broad condemnation of Russia’s attack on the U.S. drone by all NATO Allies,” Marshall Billingslea, a former deputy undersecretary of the Navy and assistant…

mu qing and feng xin have both gotten used to their daily fights, and it came as no surprise that the minute feng xin returned from his mission in the mortal realm, they were spitting insults at each other again.
spiteful, vengeful words turned to actions, and soon enough they were on rolling around on the floor, tugging at each other’s hair and throwing punches.
————
feng xin is pinning mu qing to the ground, holding mq’s arms high above his head with all of his force, mq wiggling underneath him, when suddenly he hears a /crack/.
mu qing lets out an involuntary whimper, his face contorted with pain. feng xin lets go of him immediately, as if he had been burned, frantically searching for the source of the sound, the injury on mu qing’s body.
mu qing gets up from the ground and looks at his wrist. it’s still red from feng xin’s grip, but it’s also visibly starting to swell. feng xin curses under his breath.
“shit. i’m sorry… i didn’t mean-“
“why are you saying sorry all of a sudden? get lost,” mu qing shoots him a cold glare, beginning to rub at his wrist.
feng xin shuts up, not wanting to fight anymore. he definitely did not think mu qing would ever let himself get hurt like this. they have fought hundreds, if not thousands, of times after all, only ever leaving with huge bruises or cuts on their bodies.
it had never been a broken bone. it had never been anything remotely serious. contrary to popular belief, feng xin /does not/ want to see mu qing hurt, especially not when he’s the cause of it.
before feng xin can keep pressing and trying to apologize further, mu qing is already walking away, muttering under his breath about how he needs to get back to work and he doesn’t have time for this. as if he wasn’t the one who started the fight in the first place, feng xin thinks bitterly.
————
mu qing tries to forget what had just happened and focuses on his work instead. the throbbing pain in his wrist is a reminder of the earlier fight with feng xin, ever-present as he completes his tasks for the day and heads back to the xuan zhen palace.
suddenly, he feels so very tired, his body resembling a deflated balloon. his wrist still hurts, his head is starting to pound, and all he wants to do is lay down and fall asleep. he walks right past his deputy generals to his bedchamber.
what mu qing didn’t expect, though, is that he would find boxes of medicine by his bedside table upon walking into the room. he recognizes different creams and painkillers, all neatly laid out for him to choose from.
he certainly hadn’t called for a physician, so… who had left them here? who dared walk into mu qing’s private chambers, uninvited, just to leave him medicine? he can only think of one person who’d be reckless enough to do such a thing, but… it couldn’t have been him.
feng xin was the cause of mu qing’s injuries in the first place. he would never go through all this effort just to make sure they get treated accordingly. mu qing is more than certain of that.
he senses feng xin entering their private communication array, only ever used during missions they get assigned together. mu qing raises an eyebrow.
“hey, i… i wanted to say sorry for earlier. i really didn’t mean for it to get so bad so fast. i left some medicine for you…. didn’t know what you normally use so i just picked up everything i found in my palace. hope it helps your wrist heal faster.”
he can practically /see/ feng xin walking back and forth in his bedchamber, trying to string together the right words.
“oh, and… sorry for breaking into your palace and bedchamber, i guess. i just wanted to fix what i had screwed up.” the connection cuts off before mu qing can even think of a reply.
first he fights mu qing and gives him an annoying injury, and then he leaves medicine for him and apologizes? what’s the deal with this guy?
he hears an unsure knock on the door.
“come in.”
“general xuan zhen, general nan yang came by earlier today and insisted on being let in. he said it was an urgent matter, we tried to stop him but he was already heading towards your private chambers and-“
the corners of mu qing’s lips go up a little. “i know. don’t worry about it further. you are dismissed.”
he turns around, his back facing the door, and begins analysing the different types of medicine on his bedtable, until finally he settles on one that’s most familiar. the cooling sensation numbs the pain as soon as he applies the cream to his skin, rubbing it into his wrist.
the barely-there smile does not leave his face the entire time. he thinks about feng xin frantically searching through the medical cabinets at his palace, about him making the conscious decision to give everything he’d found to mu qing.
he knows feng xin can be kind. mu qing has never experienced this kindness before, though. it’s always been harsh words and punches. he doesn’t know what to do with this display of affection, now that it’s been directed at him.
he still doesn’t understand why feng xin had such a guilty conscience all of a sudden. mu qing is a martial god, after all. he can recover rather quickly, especially from a fairly minor injury. on the contrary, it will most definitely take him a long time to even begin to understand feng xin. and yet, he thinks he wants to give it a try.
he lets hope grow in his chest, and for the first time in god knows how long, he feels appreciation for feng xin. fondness. curiosity. he finds himself wanting to apologize for this fight, and all the ones before.
maybe feng xin does care about him, after all, in a way that is unique to him and incomprehensible to mu qing.

fx just jumping onto xuan zhen palace, looking for a fight while dodging the deputies that are trying to stop him. Goes to the training ground, no mq but a bunch of deputies playing with cats. Goes to the backyard, no mq just more cats, for some reason. he find more cats in the xuan zhen's library and in this point he is confused.
as soon as he open the door of mq's bedroom he is received with mq just buried below a mountain of cats, unable to move because he don't want to wake them up

On May 27, 2024, the Canadian government confirmed the acquisition of 16 new F-35 fighters, which will be financed by the current federal budget, as announced by Defense Minister Bill Blair during his appearance before a House of Commons committee. Although the delivery of the aircraft is not expected until 2026 due to production delays, this change marks a significant step in the modernization of the Canadian Armed Forces.
In his testimony, Minister Blair defended the liberal government's military spending plans, which also include financing for new C-330 Husky transport and refueling aircraft, as well as P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft. These acquisitions are part of a broader effort to strengthen Canada's defense capabilities.
However, the challenges remain, particularly with regard to delays in the production of the F-35. A senior U.S. military officer warned last year that the delivery of poachers ordered by Canada and other allies could be postponed due to ongoing technical problems with the aircraft. In December, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Michael Schmidt informed American lawmakers that the latest version of the aircraft, known as Block 4, was facing significant development challenges.

The Pentagon's F-35 joint office repeated Schmidt's warning last month, noting that Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, would only be able to deliver between 75 and 110 F-35 in 2024, instead of the 156 originally planned. Despite these obstacles, the Canadian Department of Defense still has as its goal 2026 as the expected year of arrival of Canadian jets.
At the same time, concerns were raised about the shortage of qualified fighter pilots. The Deputy Commander of the Canadian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Frances Allen, admitted to lawmakers that there are currently fewer fighter pilots available than necessary to fulfill the NATO and NORAD missions and train for the transition to the new F-35. In 2023, Canadian Air Force Commander Lieutenant-General Eric Kenny reported a deficit of almost 2,000 full-time members and 500 reservists.

A study funded by the Department of Defense and obtained by the newspaper CBC News revealed that the country's combat force was "in crisis". The report of the Royal United Services Institute, a British think tank, also warned of the shortage of experienced pilots needed for an effective transition to the F-35.
In this context, the Canadian government faces a double challenge: to ensure the successful delivery and integration of the F-35s, while maintaining significant combat capabilities with the two remaining CF-18 HEP II (Hornet Extension Project II) squadrons until 2032.

I feel like for a fertility god such as him, the baby fever would hit 10x worse than a normal human.
He feels empty without the baby in him and then hears Pei Ming mention smth about his own siblings and watches a gaggle of children playing and is just filled with the desire for another.
Meanwhile, MQ is making a 50 step plan on how to convince FX to let him knock him up again.
oooo that makes so much sense
At least in the omegaverse au I kinda think he's always had a little bit of baby but mostly repressed it. (Seeing MQ be nice to the little street urchin children did things to his brain). But being a fertility god would make it way more intense
It's already bad enough to hear Pei Ming talk about his siblings, but seeing him bring up even more of his kids and descendants as deputies just makes it even worse. And then he can't even go a day without hearing his followers praying for their own children. And god forbid anyone else they know has a baby
Congratulations to Mu Qing on how easy that 50 step plan will be to achieve
