@puxrlunae || [ cont. ]
Shion's smile became toothy, an overall wolfish appearance that did not have any mirth but rather excitement as his eyes flicked from the other to study the monster in the distance. From the look of the thing, Shion had bided his time before attacking such a creature, knowing he needed more weapons and stamina to weather such a fight, but still the challenge gnawed at him, daring him. Now with Amaron fighting with him he knew he stood a chance.
Fisted hand bobbed in a nod. << Yes. >>

i got back into totk and although i firmly stand by my 'it could've been better' thta most definitely doesn't make it a boring game
#i was planning to fight ganon bc i've had the final showdown quest unlocked for a while now but have not touched it#but i wanted to fight the king gleeok first so i went to go that except i got lost and realized how little battery thingies i actually hv#so i was like 'that won't do!' and went to go get mine zonaite#and one thing led to another and suddenly it's 3 in the morning and i STILL haven't fought ganon#you can get so easily side tracked in totk it's just a lot of fun#after fighting the king gleeok + malice sand boss in depths i realized i very badly needed weaposn bc everything i had was breaking at that#point 😭#i spent an entire hour looking for a gerudo scimitar for urbosas sword. at least 15 of those minutes i was running around with the sensor l#oking for it before realizing that it beeps on npcs with it#and then i just fawking gave up#then i went to rito village to try & get revalis bow but couldn't find a swallow bow so i quickly gave up after learning my lesson with th#scimitar and just wandered around the outskirts before finding some sky islands i hadn't vitsited yet above the village ^^#& then i think i fought the lynels for majoras mask which got me a shit ton of stuff#<- but it was also a pain in the ass bc i literally forgot to fuse shit together prior to entering & so i was scrambling to fuse things#together inbetween lynel fights 😭#i ended up beating them but i had like 4 hearts bc everything else was gloomified bc my dumbass also always forgets to cook up#gloom repelling food#<- plus i am also trying to save my sundelions to upgrade the champions tunic#hv i told u guys that i drew the master sword & then realized I didn't hv a tracker on zelda anymore so i couldn't just find her whenever i#needed materials from her so i went back to my save before i got the sword so i could keep tracking her lol#i then put off pulling the sword forever . i hv it now but it took me a while

Note
your ocs have to give an hour lecture with no preparation or breaks. what do they talk about
OH BOY okay lemme activate the brain cell
Vaie would talk about the importance of music throughout Hyrule's history. Like the warp songs and Zelda's lullaby in the era of the hero of time, the ballad of the goddess used to unlock the final trial for the hero of the sky, and all the others. She'd give a practical demonstration of the Song of Storms probably. When the Zora gets brought up she'd probably go on a tangent about them too, they're her favourite tribe in hyrule.
Trari would, obviously, talk about history. I think specifically Gerudo history, because I think that it would have been quite overlooked by historians up to this point due to... The past conflicts between them and the royal family, a lot of things were covered up. I think the records would only go back to the era of King Rauru, but Trari has her suspicions about just how old the world is (she'd lose her mind if she learned of the Depths, I genuinely headcanon they are the remains of old hyrule before the flood. Timelines be damned) Halfway though she'd go on a tangent about why she should be allowed to spend all her monarchy-given funds on Gerudo jewellery because "it has historical importance".
Teo would use his hour to talking about monsters, so many monsters. Bokos, moblins, lizalfos, lynels... and wizzrobes, oh my god so much about wizzrobes, he'd bore everyone to tears with talk about wizzrobes. Anyway monsters are his second favourite interest besides magic, and they tend to go hand in hand sometimes. The main part of his speech would be about elemental monsters and "where did they come from?" what caused them to take on fire or ice or electric energy?" There's so many questions and he wants answers. Sprinkle in some complaints about his wife questioning his life choices and I think that's everything really.
(He'd lose his shit if he lived long enough to see a gleeok, just saying, but sadly for him I don't think in the original timeline that would ever happen)
I didn't know what to put for Reina but I can come up with something if people want me to TwT

What are your thoughts on TotK so far?
[spoiler alert obviously don't keep reading if you don't want this]
-Gloom hands are the absolute best I love them so much never stop being horrible
-Gleeoks are nice. good to see them again. like the new look.
-Admittedly not completely wild about the fuse system but Kohga attacks you with a car and it's fun to watch people build all the looney tunes contraptions people make
-Can't believe they finally dropped Zelda's fursona only to make it a dimension of torment for her. I love the light dragon but can't Zelda have a dragon break rather than a dragon breakdown.
-In seriousness with the fake Zelda running around it could be an interesting twist if everyone believes the light dragon is hostile because it keeps randomly dive-bombing people while a Zelda who is lucid but unable to communicate is trying to chase people away from her impostor.
-Related to a prior point I like to think the Koroks kind of enjoy being yeeted. they're prankster forest spirits. this has to be at least a little bit fun.
-I'm not keen on Kilton in the first place and I don't think we needed Kilton 2: Worse Kilton. I don't like how every NPC in TLOZ that doesn't look completely conventionally attractive is increasingly signaled as either an evil overlord or a funny idiot you shouldn't respect or take seriously. I do not want to watch these clowns dance for me as a reminder to not take any sort of interest in monsters seriously. This is a vibes based thing and is not limited to the designs. I feel like you could keep those designs as-is and salvage the vibes but I'm not quite sure how.
-Narratively, Tears of the Kingdom feels suffused with a specific kind of old man sadness that he is No Longer Hip With The Kids (and this is not gender-specific but the predominant gender of the mouthpieces it is given ingame must be noted) without making any concessions to what The Kids actually care about so Rauru is here because they heard you didn't like Rhoam so now there's a super cool hip with-it dad who never yells at Zelda but also just like Rhoam his actions amount to failing her at a critical moment, leaving her alone to suffer, and then coming back as a ghost to implicitly give Link Daddy's Blessing to marry Zelda.
I want to like Rauru way more than I do because the Zonai's designs are fantastic, but I feel like the depiction of these "Sky Gods" and their role in history ends up patronizing the hell out of both the Zonai and everybody else, but especially the non-hyrulean vassal states where the Zonai are made out to be needless fairy godmothers when they have all the hallmarks of a dying people 10,000 years ago, we can only imagine Rauru's legacy was whitewashed to hell and back considering how central Hyrule positions its non-Hylian allies, But Then Also the Zonai are so beautiful and smart they created everything with their inherent superiority and if the gerudo, zora, gorons, or rito have any meaningful cultural legacy no they didn't the Zonai did this for/with them.
Also can we please not physically put the arm of the king with its power to command things and space on Link's body. This feels like a twofer desecrating Rauru even further by disembodying him down to only the useful part of him and also literally making Link just a bodily platform for the King's Authority. no we're not gonna empower YOUR hand we're gonna hack it off while you're unresponsive to make room for the real kingly authority. We've been doing this since Wind Waker and the quiet part feels like it's getting louder.
-I love Gloom I love the Depths. on the one hand yes they could afford to be a little more Actual Cave Like but as it is it kind of sends the vibe of like, a prior surface that sunk downward into the earth. The idea of moving up as well as down, this sort of heaven-and-hell motifs, are kinda great.
-As afraid as I was of this version of Ganondorf being made out to be a puppet/pawn/disciple of Demise I was actually very, very pleased to see the man just straight up eat Demise's lunch in every conceivable way. Even his demon king form which feels the closest to aping Demise replaces the primal pyroclast vibes with that saturated blood color. Demise feels like a primal titan- Ganondorf feels like a Persephone stained with the fruits of the underworld. I love his designs I love his vibes I love what they did with him. This is SUCH a good return to 'letting Ganondorf be a person rather than a screaming rage cloud'.
Literally the only thing I don't like is I think his tiny dinky oni horns are silly and he didn't need them. that's it.
-I mentioned Kohga but I'm so glad Kohga just decided that since he fell down a hole he Lives There Now.
-the like likes are excellent. If you are sensing a pattern here it's that I'm very fond of the creature design. You begin to see why I'm frustrated with Kilton and Kilton 2: Worse Kilton. Just let me hang out with the horriblins. have you seen them.
-Ok I don't really like that they had a "here, idiot, this is how you make a functional weapon" angle to giving Conspicuously Weapon Shaped horns on all the main monsters so you can just harvest them to make spears or hammers or such. This is part of the part of Fuse I'm not keen on.
-did we really need zonai device gachapons. they were not being at all subtle about how toyetic this new mechanic was, to the point of it feeling kinda immersion breaking. how seriously are we supposed to take this. Zelda is over there doing the anime fisheye stare. This is the last surviving legacy of a dead people. We are capable of recreating the Guardian Massacre from BOTW onto random blins now. But whee. Car go brrrr.
-TLOZ Please Stop Adding Gimmick Robot Characters That Obviously Have Feelings But Are Also Slavishly Bound To A Purpose Long After It's Useful To Anyone And Were Made That Way By Heroic Guys We Are Supposed To Root For And This Isn't Framed As A Problem, and other songs by Fall Out Boy,
-Yona is a good character and I like her, Sidon is allowed to be bisexual
-this isn't unique to TOTK or originating there but I have a little petty rage in my heart that goron rock food is just... comedy cartoon meat but made of rocks. I hate it. expose us to an entirely alien concept of cuisine. Make me yearn to eat bismuth knowing my human limitations would fail me. I was thinking about this the entire Marbled Rock Roast plot.
WHAT IS THERE TO ROAST
IT'S ROCKS
HEAT CANNOT ALTER THE PROPERTIES OF ROCKS WITHOUT EITHER MELTING THEM OR TURNING THEM INTO A WHOLE DIFFERENT ROCK
-I think Evermeans are good and we should live in fear of resource-useful setpieces more often. there should be hostile jar mimics next. Wind Waker had enemies popping out of jars but also you could get the drop on them by breaking the jar like normal, and that fails the mimic test of "am I now afraid to perform Ordinary Actions in places I'm not sure are safe"

A bit disappointed in the Ancient Hero’s Aspect. 84 defense is nice, but increasing the power of the Master Sword Beam doesn’t help if the player sucks at maintaining full health.
I got the Champion’s Leathers, Diamond Circlet, and Zonite Shin Guards at the earliest opportunity and upgrading them was my #1 priority. This combination gives Link 88 defense, +1 Attack, and +1 towards improved battery efficiency.
I recently finish killing all 14 Gleeoks for the Monster Hunter Medal (3 down, 3 to go!) and switched to the Fierce Diety set when I realized I was able to take down a Gleeok without getting hit (at least one 5-shot Savage Lynel Bow, two or three Gerudo Scimitars fused with Silver Lynel Saber Horn, plus at least 2 Rocket Shields, and a +3 Attack buff). I was able to get the last 3 King Gleeoks, including the one in the Depths, without taking damage.
This is also the ONLY monster I have ever taken no damage with. Even Frox would get me once in a while, even if it’s just being too close and getting smacked by a flailing foot. With Ganon, that just ain’t gonna happen.
I don’t consider the Phantom Ganons to be decent practice runs for the real thing. They are weaksauce, especially with the Master Sword in hand.
*sigh* I’m just putting off the inevitable. I should just go face the final boss, die until I figure it out, then continue doing side quests at my leisure. Pretty sure I accidentally made it down to the final area (put a Travel Medallion down so I won’t have to make THAT trek again).

In less than a week, I went from being scared shitless of Gleeoks to taking out three regular ones and the King in the Depths.
All I needed was some confidence, a Demon King's Bow, and lots and lots of Keese eyeballs.

totk 100% progress ramble :D a bit long
oki so for context i finished totk last july. by then i wasn't using any guides (other than some help in certain puzzles here and there :p) and by the time i beat ganondorf i was at 66.97%! sadly i didn't take any screenshots of how many koroks i had by then but what i know is that i had already maxed out my inventory so it was around 450 or something, not too bad i think.
after this i stopped playing for a few months and this month i got back to it. i started roaming around but then decided it was time to tackle the interactive map. of course i had already finished a big chunk of the game and i didn't really want to go korok by korok checking stuff on the map, so mind you it is not very accurate lol.
here's what i have right now
completion: 84.14%
main quests: 23/23 ✔
side adventures: 60/60 ✔
shrine quests: 31/31 ✔
side quests: 128/139
memories: 18/18 ✔
hyrule compedium: 449/509
recipes: 87/228 (i haven't even started with this, it's just what i randomly have lol)
energy cells: 8/8 batteries ✔
paraglider fabrics: 24/29
koroks: 717 (including the ones i've used for inventory)
wells: 56/58
locations, armor, other stuff like that i'll add later i can't be bothered rn. here's how my interactive map is going (not the one in-game, this is stuff that i have yet to check)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOW LISTEN
the sky is basically done, i need to check a couple of islands bc i'm not entirely sure i have those chests or not, i still have to do the hebra labyrinth and i havent fought any of the three king gleeoks bc im a coward
the surface is where i'm going the hardest. like i said, there is actually much more stuff that i have already done but i haven't checked yet bc i have to go in game and see if i've done it or not, so keep that in mind.
as you can see i already tackled the entire east of the map. i need to go back to check on a couple of hinox and talus, some gleeok that i havent been brave enough to fight (even tho i literally know how to, they're not that bad really) and yes. i'm not fucking touching lynels or gloom hands unless i absolutely have to lmao.
i'm kinda going region by region, i started at akkala and went all the way down to faron. i'm thinking of going to hebra next since that's the area i've been ignoring the most for some reason, and the few shrines i have left are all in there! so yeah.
and as for the depths, lets just say i have barely touched this map, i have explored a lot but it is still the area i have done the least. idk i just dont like being completely lost and always scared lol. but i do have to go there cause im running low on zonaite from building hover bikes to help koroks lol. i'd also like some good weapons too that'd be nice
anyways that's it thanks for reading my rant 👍 here's a funny pic

All right. I found all the shrines, all the armor (except that one cap being protected by the king gleeok in the depths), every Bubbul gem, and now every Korok.
I guess I'll try to fight the demon king and save Hyrule. If I have to.

What’s wrong with the cap of twilight? I haven’t finished finding all the hero outfit pieces yet so I’m out of the loop
TLDR: it’s a ridiculously small reward for the amount of effort it takes to get it.
Big Spoilers for what that effort is:
You have to defeat a Gloom King Gleeok in the Depths. The hat is in a gloom chest, so you have to defeat the fucker before it opens.
All for a hat with a max defense of 20, which I already had in my inventory from an amibo.
