I didn't know what to expect with The First Tree, I just knew that it was a small indie game that was supposed to be sad...and frankly, that's ALWAYS enough to get me interested...It has a very beautiful, cell-shaded style, especially the night scene was gorgeous, the soundtrack is minimalistic with just piano and strings and works excellent with the game and gives it athmosphere, the gameplay on the other hand had some hickups (i.e. I was too stupid to understand the stone-click-function and I have no orientation), but the focus and main part of it, the story, was, while quite straight, really good and emotional with believable voice acting and some visual storytelling that reminded me a little bit of Dear Esther. The quote in the third pic actually made me tear up a bit while playing.
