One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.

The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.

It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

I’ve perfected my tuna salad sandwich recipe and here it is. Canned tuna mixed with sliced pickles, chopped red onion, dijon, a drop mayo, pickle juice, grated garlic, salt & pepper on a bun that’s been toasted in garlic butter then broiled with cheddar on top. IT IS EVERYTHING.

CRAVING

Why will I always love Lay’s? Two reasons. 1) Their original chips taste the best at parties. 2) The fact that each summer they put out seasonal flavours. Will a cuban sandwich flavour taste incredible? Does it even matter? It’s the EFFORT of creating something new. I’m a woman who will appreciate effort until the day I die.

Over the years I have enjoyed Bill Maher comedy. He essentially picked up where Dennis Miller left off. He’s also no conservative. He has been ferociously critical of Trump and critical of many constitutional conservatives, if there are any left. However, he hits this one out of the park. It’s always been my position that you can do whatever it is that you would like to do as long as you’re not hurting anyone. You want to dress like a woman when you’re actually a man? Go right ahead… Walk down the street in heels, and a low-cut dress with fake tits. Be my guest. I really don’t care. However, I don’t understand the trans agenda when they make up less than 1% of the overall population. Additionally,  I don’t understand drag queen story hour for kids. Bill Maher is, correct. The reason why we have pedophilia at Disney, Nickelodeon, Hollywood, the church, and schools is because… That’s where the kids are!! As I said, do what you wanna do as long as you’re not hurting anybody and our kids are getting hurt. Having mentioned Dennis Miller… I’ll steal his line… That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I know i say this a lot but Bin Laden is one of the number one causes of our worldwide reactionary rise. 9/11 made people deranged. It brought a new level of islamophobia to the forefront to the level where a black president born in fucking Hawaii was considered a secret Muslim superagent for his name and that alone was enough reason to form a militia. Rudy Giuliani was well respected in many many many circles. Dennis Miller was still a comedian. Bill Maher... actually did already suck but Republicans hated him so we pretended he was fine.

We were so angry about it we invaded a completely different country while we were still running Afghanistan.

Donald Trump ran on the promise of banning Muslims from the US.

Bin Laden did more harm to the middle east than anyone else in history and he's the reason we're where we are today.

I see a lot of leftists who are (rightfully) critical of America, but think it means they should support America's geopolitical enemies (Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, Syria, etc) even though those governments are way worse.

"Enemy of my enemy is my friend" is a fallacy. Please have some standards more complicated than "America bad" (and it is bad, don't get me wrong).
