Find it kind of amusing that Kyoukai Senki, a show very clearly aimed at Gundam fans, is so nationalistic and dedicated to glorification of tradition that some jokingly called it "ghost written by Shinzo Abe", while Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo, clearly aimed at weebs, is extremely anti-imperialist and critical of attachment to tradition.

I don't exactly know what does that say about fandom and changes in demographic, but I do find it fascinating.

What I’m Watching - Fall 2021

Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. - I’ve read like 100 chapters of the manga and enjoy it enough, also the PVs be looking mad fucking nice which is a relief.

Takt Op. Destiny - Yeah so the announcement PV for this looked dumb and “musicart” sounds stupid so I meme ptw’d this. Then we got our first real PV and the show looked great, so I removed it from ptw since it’s not a funny ironic watch any more. But then we got the road trip looking key visual and PV and, yo, I fucking love road trips in anime dog, so yeah 

Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi - Hence “Annoying Senpai”, Girl cute, Tomori Kusunoki.

Sakugan - I’m gonna have a difficult time explaining why exactly but ever since this got announced in like 2019 or so? I’ve been really fucking excited for it, like, absurdly so. And when we started getting PVs they looked genuinely incredible. Actually my most anticipated show for this season and hard read Anime of the Season as well. Watch Sakugan.

Heike Monogatari - Hey I’m already watching this lol. It’s already really good too - amazing visuals enhanced with expected god tier direction from Yamada, and hey Aoi Yuuki giving a vocal performance like no other.

Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Dai Mankai no Shou - I’ve seen the rest of YuYuYu anime lol, why not, right? It’s been ages since I watched them and I remember fuck all and I’ve read zero of the light novels which will apparently really do me in here, but hey I’m sure I’ll rewatch it whenever I decide to consume the rest of the franchise. Btw gonna make a point to use MajiYuusha uploads since better subs.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train TV - Completionist syndrome plus Mugen Train has god tier animation so.

Puraore! Pride of Orange - Idol anime. But also cute girl sports show. But also the PVs look really fucking good so I have reason to be excited that’s not just superficial genre enthusiast shit.

Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo - AKA Rumble Garanndoll? World’s worst localised title goes to... But anyway this seemed cool to me based on the initial title of Reversal World’s Battery Girl and the kind of denpa key visual, and while that’s less so the case now and I sorta just find the PVs fine, that one PV that screams OTAKU IS NOT DEAD has me intrigued. Some meta statement on the romanticisation of the “good old days”? Back when Daicon opening animations were the shit? Could be neat, idk I’m certainly interested anyway.

Anyway yeah think that’s it. My whole “cutting down on seasonals” thing’s gone to fucking shit lmao. But in my defence, 12 shows is still reasonable, especially given the amount of seasons where I’ve tried to watch like 18 or more shows and all. Moreover I actually am really excited for the bulk of these, like it doesn’t feel like I’ve got any shows I’m picking up for one single reason that I otherwise wouldn’t watch - this feels carefully considered by my standards anyway. And hey I might still drop stuff lol. Anyway yeah hype season.

Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo

The third promotional video for Lerche's original television anime Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo was uploaded on the series' official website. The cast members, as well as Mia REGINA's opening theme song "Fever Dream," are featured in the video. Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo begins on AT-X on October 11 at 11:00 p.m., with Tokyo MX, BS11, and Yomiuri TV following.

Rumble Garanndoll: il nuovo trailer anticipa la sigla di testa dell’originale serie anime targata Lerche

La prima puntata della serie sarà disponibile in anteprima su YouTube dal 3 ottobre.

Pubblicato un terzo trailer di “Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo” (Rumble Garanndoll), la nuova serie animata originale dello studio LERCHE (Asobi Asobase, Astra Lost in Space, Idoly Pride), il cui primo episodio verrà trasmesso in anteprima sul canale YouTube ufficiale di Kadokawa Anime il 3 ottobre, per poi sbarcare in tv dall’11 ottobre.

Questa volta il video anticipa brevemente la sigla di testa, intitolata "Fever Dreamer", interpretata dalle Mia REGINA (Appare-Ranman!, HenSuki).

Per quanto riguarda lo staff, alla regia troviamo Masaomi Ando (School-Live!, Scum’s Wish, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, Astra Lost in Space), assistito per l’occasione Yoshihito Nishoji (Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan), mentre della sceneggiatura si sta occupando Makoto Uezu (Scum’s Wish, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, KonoSuba).

La storia inizia nel 2019, poco prima del cambio di epoca storica per il Giappone. Una spaccatura verso un'altra dimensione si apre improvvisamente nei cieli sovrastanti, rivelando un mondo alternativo “di svolta” chiamato Shinkoku Nippon. Questa versione parallela del Giappone ha mantenuto il suo militarismo ed è rimasta bloccata nell'era Showa. Lo Shinkoku Nippon invade il nostro Giappone con le sue armi a gas Genmu (sulle quali le nostre armi moderne non hanno alcun effetto) e armi umanoidi chiamate Garan. Gli invasori prendono immediatamente il controllo del nostro governo e conquistano il Giappone. Di conseguenza, il nostro Giappone non inaugura mai l'era Reiwa.

Un decennio dopo, il nostro Giappone è stato rinonimato Genkoku Nippon, diventando di fatto uno stato fantoccio dello Shinkoku Nippon. Sotto una dura censura, le sottoculture di manga, anime, idol e simili, una volta fiorenti, si sono completamente estinte… o almeno così sembrava. Una società segreta chiamata Arahabaki (un anagramma giapponese di Akihabara, il quartiere commerciale della sub-cultura nerd di Tokyo) si solleva per resistere allo Shinkoku con le armi chiamate Garanndoll, alimentate da delle “battery girls”.

Il character design è concepito da Akio Watanabe (The Fruit of Grisaia, Bakemonogatari, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou) ed è adattato per l’animazione da Keiko Kurosawa (Astra Lost in Space, Scum’s Wish, Asobi Asobase). Del mechanical design, invece, si occupa Tomohito Hirose (Radiant).
