@klubjester and i made two new hypothetical dnd characters and they are besties and we love them. Mine is Mischief, a foxfolk paladin with a homebrew oath - Oath of Commit To The Bit (which will be based on the official Clown Code of Ethics lmao). Ah, ranger is so difficult. I'm playing a ranger rn (whom I love) and sometimes the class really does feel like a jumble of random abilities in a trench coat. One of the campaigns I'm in has thrown around the idea of using a remake of the class, or making new subclasses for fighter and druid (scout for rogue works pretty well.) We'll see how they pan out, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

It’s so Sad that WOTC has done such a poor job of compiling succinct abilities for a class with really Great Flavor and Concepts to Explore to the degree where players would rather make/play ranger flavored subclasses in other classes.

a lot of my thoughts come from the fact that i’ve been obsessed with rangers since I was a child and came across the concept and i’m also fairly well versed in wilderness survival and have spent significant periods of time outdoors traveling in a manner similar to how rangers are categorized to travel.

tldr; i think rangers weren’t integrated well to having abilities that fit their flavor but are broadly applicable to campaigns
