GREGORIO DEL PILAR; MY HOMETOWN
Barba, Winston M. BPED 4
Let me give you a peak of my hometown; you probably never heard about where the beauty of nature lies, with the blessings of numerous tourist spots, green mountains, productive farmlands, and the thrill of the journey through the rocky, winding roads.
Gregorio Del Pilar, if you don’t know much about it, is a fifth-class upland municipality with seven barangays. It has a population of 4,157 and 966 households. It is classified as a geographically isolated and depressed area because of its isolation during the rainy seasons due to landslides and soil erosion. Almost 90% of the population are indigenous people, belonging to the Kankanaey-Bag-O tribe.
Everyone can enjoy the luxury of a dip at the Sibol hot spring and in the icy-cold spring water flowing near it. The exciting walk at Kankantuban Eco-Park allows you to admire the wonder of the rock formations and the breathtaking view of natural vegetation below them, as well as explore an underground cave. The experience of a trek to Tirad Pass National Park, where the view of the sea in the towns of Sta. Cruz and Sta. Lucia could be seen and the sea of clouds in an early morning walk, is a wonderful experience, with the icy cold breeze and the priceless view of nature.
The place is not a fully developed municipality, yet the spirit of bayanihan and the tribal justice system are active practices based on the traditions and customs we have inherited from our ancestors. Everyone has concern for everyone, especially visitors. Always be assured that those valuable things, either misplaced or lost, will be surrendered to the authorities upon recovery.
We invite everyone to come and visit and enjoy nature’s treat. I can guarantee you that you are going to have one of the best times of your life.

Rocio Chila Delpilar Sperry
Missing Since: November 15, 1987
Missing From: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Sex: Female
Race/Ethnicity: White/Caucasian, Hispanic/Latino
Missing Age: 15 years old
Current Age: 48 years old
Height and Weight: 5’4” and 105 lbs.
Distinctive Physical Features: Brown hair, brown eyes
Clothing and Accessories: Blue sweatsuit, white high top sneakers
Transportation: Gray and white Pontiac Grand Am
Circumstances of Disappearance: Rocio Chila Delpilar Sperry was last seen in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 15, 1987. Her husband, Joseph A. Sperry, a soldier stationed at Fort Carson, was visiting family in Florida at the time of Rocio’s disappearance. He had also taken their three-month-old daughter.
Joseph stated Rocio called him at 4:45 a.m. to tell him she loved him and there would be a surprise waiting for him when he returned home, something his mother had sent her. He asked her if everything was okay, and she reassured him that everything was fine. He tried to call Rocio back, but he got no answer.
Joseph was gone for six days. Rocio was supposed to meet him at the airport upon his return on November 14, but she never showed up and he attempted to report her missing. Many people theorized that Rocio either left her husband voluntarily, or was murdered by him.
Joseph never believed his wife left of her own accord. He found broken glass and blood inside their apartment in the 4400 block of east Pikes Peak Avenue and none of Rocio's belongings were missing, except the family's car and their new television set.
The Sperrys' car was found by Joseph on November 22, in a parking lot north of their apartment. It was locked and Joseph had to call a locksmith to get inside it.
He noticed a brown briefcase that was normally kept in the vehicle was missing, and there were grease spots on the driver's side floorboard. The Pontiac had been driven 312 miles between the time Joseph went to Florida and the time he found the car after his return.
Joseph searched for his wife himself among prostitutes, theorizing she was kidnapped by a pimp and forced into prostitution. He stated he had a "miserable" life after Rocio vanished, lost custody of their daughter, and became addicted to heroin. He is now in recovery.
In the summer of 2005, a Colorado Springs detective called the Sperry family and said Robert Charles Browne walked to a Kwik Stop on Murray Boulevard in Colorado Springs where he worked. Rocio told Browne that her husband had taken her daughter to Florida, and Browne persuaded her to go to the movies with him. Browne admitted he strangled Rocio with his hands and put her body in a trash bin. He also stole her car, wedding ring and television set.
Browne, who was already serving a life sentence for the 1991 murder of 13-year-old Heather Dawn Church, confessed in 2006 to Rocio Sperry's murder. He also claims responsibility for at least one murder in South Korea, the death of Faye Aline Self whose body was never found, and that of 47 other people across the United States.
Browne has only been charged in connection with Heather and Rocio's cases. He will be eligible for parole in 40 years in Rocio's murder, but he not eligible for parole in Heather's case.
Rocio's remains have never been found. She was born in Cuba and spent some time in foster care after being taken from her abusive mother. She married Joseph to get out of the foster care system.
If you have any information on where Rocio Chila Delpilar Sperry could be found please contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-520-7209

Four flight attendants were arrested this week after bringing in more than $20,000 in cash to the United States.
Carlos Alberto Munoz-Moyano, 40, Maria Isabel Wilson-Ossandon, 48, Miaria Delpilar Roman-Strick, 55, and Maria Beatriz Pasten-Cuzmar, 55, were charged with money laundering and unauthorized transmitting of money when they were arrested on Tuesday, NBC News reported on Wednesday, citing a criminal complaint. The Miami-Dade Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Together, the four flight attendants allegedly brought in $22,671 in U.S. currency, NBC 6 Miami reported.
Munoz-Moyano was traveling on an American Airlines flight from Chile, NBC Miami reported, and was arrested after his routine check at customs.
He initially told the Customs and Border Patrol agent that he had $100 on him, but later changed his answer to declare $9,000, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the outlet. As NBC 6 Miami reporter Carlos Suarez pointed out, travelers are only required to declare $10,000 or more.
Munoz-Moyano’s changed answer inspired CBP agents to question other flight attendants, and ultimately discovered that Roman-Strick was carrying $7,300 and Wilson-Ossandon was carrying $6,371.
NBC Miami reported that the complaint did not say whether or not Pasten-Cuzmar was carrying any cash, “only that she was also checked in the Customs area.”

The four flight attendants were arrested early Tuesday morning and have been placed on immigration holds, the outlet reported.
“Prosecutors said the flight attendants conspired to bring the money into the U.S. and deliver it to an unknown person, and they would receive a percentage of the money in return,” NBC Miami reported.

NBC News said that the criminal complaint redacted details of the four admitting to “something,” and that the report said none of them held money transmitter licenses.
Lawyers for Munoz-Moyano, Wilson-Ossandon, Roman-Strick and Pasten-Cuzmar could not immediately be found.
Footage from CNN and NBC Miami shows some of the four in bond court listening to the judge with translation headphones.
In a statement to PEOPLE on Wednesday, American Airlines said, “We take this matter seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement throughout their investigation.”

4 Flight Attendants Arrested at MIA on Money Laundering Charges
Four flight attendants were arrested at Miami International Airport on money laundering and other charges after authorities found them carrying thousands of dollars in cash during a routine Customs check.
Carlos Alberto Munoz-Moyano, 40, Maria Isabel Wilson Ossandon, 48, Maria Beatriz Pasten-Cuzmar, 55, and Miaria Delpilar Roman-Strick, 55, were arrested early Tuesday on money laundering and unauthorized money transmitting charges, according to an arrest report.
NTSB Blames FIU Bridge Collapse on Design, Lack of Oversight
The report said a Customs and Border Patrol agent was conducting a routine check on Munoz-Moyano, who had just arrived in Miami on an American Airlines flight from Chile. The agent asked Munoz-Moyano how much money he had on him, and Munoz-Moyano first said he only had $100, then changed his answer and said he had $9,000, the report said.
CBP officers began to stop other flight attendants, and found Roman-Strick in possession of $7,300 in U.S. currency, the report said. Wilson Ossandon was found to be in possession of $6,371, the report said.
The report didn't say that cash was found on Pasten-Cuzmar, only that she was also checked in the Customs area. The total amount of currency seized was $22,671.
Prosecutors said the flight attendants conspired to bring the money into the U.S. and deliver it to an unknown person, and they would receive a percentage of the money in return.
All four were booked into jail early Tuesday. Attorney information wasn't available.
NBC 6 reached out to American Airlines for comment Tuesday and was waiting for a response.
