|| Chapter 3: Mean girl. ||
.
.
Clover pushed the door open and walked inside, Host and I followed behind her.
"So, does everyone have a..." I hear the voice of a small yellow humanoid reptile, she has some resemblance to a dinosaur. She wore glasses and had buck teeth. She seemed rather startled by the door opening so suddenly. Everyone's eyes panned to the door as Clover and Host walked through.
"O-Oh...Dreemurr's...! We thought you weren't coming today!" The tiny reptile like monster said, she sounded as if she had mucous in her nose.
"Sorry...Mrs Alphys, SOMEONE overslept again." Clover replied, she gave Host a rather mean glare before looking back at the yellow monster; who's name was apparently 'Mrs Alphys'. Clover's comment almost made the whole class start snickering. Host glanced down in what seems to be embarrassment. I scrunched my face, how rude....I thought.
"Oh, that's quite alright. You both aren't too late." Mrs Alphys said, as she gave a kind smile. "We're doing group projects this month. Uhh, so, go ahead and pick a partner, ok?" Mrs Alphys instructed, she waved the two humans on. Clover beelined towards an empty desk; presumably it was hers. A few monster girls sat beside her, one of them looked to be some kind of sea animal, while the other three looked like demons of some kind. They chatted inaudibly.
Host had their hands buried in their pockets, seemingly still embarrassed. The whole class eyed them for a good moment before either looking back at their cellar devices or talking to one another. I look over at Host, concerned. 'Host?' I speak rather softly, they lightly jolt, they must've forgotten I was there for a second. Understandable, I'm quite easy to miss.
'Are you okay? What are we supposed to do?' I ask, floating over them. They try not to look at me directly or speak too loud, they seem to not want the other student's eyeing them in some way. "Pick a partner, I guess." Host mumbled quietly, just audible enough for my ears only. I nodded and glanced around, surely one of these kind students would want to be partners with Host.
The one who immediately caught my eye was a boy in a red sweater, Host seemed to be looking at him as well. So, I allowed Host to approach him. He looked up, before smiling awkwardly. Host seemed to know him, I tilted my head at him curiously, I felt a little awkward as well...even if he couldn't see me haha. He was another human it seemed, which surprised me. Though, Host seemed normal about it. I took in his appearance.
He had curly black hair that obscured one of his eyes, and dark skin. His eye that was visible was brown with a tint of red. He slouched over his desk tiredly, and he even had a somewhat sleepy expression. As mentioned before, his sweater was red and had one horizontal stripe on the chest, two stripes in the same direction were on his sleeves. To finish his look, he had grey pants and shoes with white laces.
"Sorry, Kris, you really should've shown up earlier..." The boy sighed rather deeply, I snapped back out of my thoughts as he spoke. I looked over at Host, they had a sad and eager expression painted on their face. "C'mon...Jaden...please..." Host whined silently, they leaned over the boy- I mean, Jaden's desk. Jaden pushes Host's head. I giggle at them, they were so...cute.
"Wake up earlier next time...dude. Maybe then I wouldn't be stuck with carrot boy." Jaden whispered, Host glanced at him with sad eyes. "Don't look at me like that--! I wanna be your partner but--" Jaden was cut off as snickering was heard behind him, Host leaned up and Jaden turned around in his seat.
A bunny like monster was snickering into his hand, he was seemingly giggling AT Jaden and Host. I scrunch my face like before, what was so funny? Jaden seemed to wonder the same exact thing as he glared at the bunny boy, was that Jaden's partner?
"Too bad you're too late, huh, Dreemurr?" The bunny boy smirked mischievously, Jaden raised his brow. "Go to sleep next time, and maybe your boyfriend could be your partner next month." He continued, Host glanced down at their feet, their face flushed. They looked as if they wanted to mutter something, but kept quiet.
"That's enough, Danny, knock it off." Jaden scowled, he turned back to Host and smiled awkwardly. The bunny boy, who's name is Danny I think, crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat.
Jaden told Host that he was sorry about not being able to be their partner, and for Danny's behavior. Host understood, they walked away from Jaden's desk so they could go ask someone else.
That was not very nice, I thought, that Danny boy was very very rude. He was embarrassing Host. 'What was that about?' I ask, concerningly, Host seemed flushed still and they turned their head away from me. They didn't seem to want to talk, so I let it go.
I floated over to Clover's desk. Clover looked up at Host as she saw them approach. Her friends went silent and all looked at one another. Surely, Clover would want to be partners with Host, right? That's their sister after all. Clover gave a nod at Host, giving them floor to speak.
"Hey, Clover. Listen- uh, could we...could we be partners...for the group project? Please?" Host said, though it was quiet, more like a mumble really. Clover sighed, she seemed to know Host was going to say that. "No, Kris, I'm always your partner. Why don't you ask someone else?" Clover rested her head in her palm. I scrunch my face and look over at Clover's friends, who all gave rather mean looks to Host, like they were unwelcome.
Clover smiled, she wanted Host to ask someone new, someone they did not know. But that's what Host wanted to avoid, it seemed.
"P-Please, Clover... I don't... I can't... I can't partner up with someon- someone I don't know... Please, Clover..." Host stammered under their breath, they seemed desperate. Clover's brows furrowed and her friends began to snicker. Clover overlapped her hand onto Host's.
"Kris, don't be like that. Surely there's someone else who'd love to be partners with you."
Clover said reassuringly. It seemed like Clover only refused cuz she wanted Host to interact with others. Host wore a rather large frown as their sister waved them off, the sighed in defeat and stepped away from Clover's desk, I followed of course. I could feel Host's heart rate increase as they looked around the classroom for someone to ask, they seemed to be silently panicking.
I felt like I needed to act, so I placed my hand on Host's shoulder. I saw this as a way to maybe ease their anxiety.
'Hey...Host? It's okay, don't worry. Why don't you try asking that girl over there?'
I tried to be helpful, and pointed to a girl that looked a little similar to Clover. I almost thought it was like, her copy or something, if it wasn't for the catlike features and change in color color palette. Clover was mostly purples, and this cat monster was all pink. I looked back at Host, they had a very unreadable expression, the only way I could really describe it is...unpleasant? Disapproving maybe? It seemed like they knew who this was, but not in a good way. She couldn't be that bad? Could she?
With some encouragement, Host reluctantly walked up to the girl I suggested. She didn't seem like she was even paying attention. She practically buried her face in her cell phone, she also seemed to be chewing...something. She looked up when noticing Host approaching though, she didn't look happy to see them. The girl didn't even let Host get a word out, she rolled her eyes and shooed them away like a bug.
"NUH UH! don't even walk up to me, I'm taken!" The cat girl said, looking back at her phone. I dawned a big frown, why was everyone so mean??? Host didn't even say anything yet and she was already being rude.
The cat girl glared at Host, she shooed them away again. I let out a rather annoyed sigh, and look around for someone else Host could pare up with. That's when I noticed a deer looking monster with antlers and blonde ringlets. I tapped Host's shoulder.
'What about her, Host? She looks nice.'
I pointed at the deer monster, who seemed to be a little focused on whatever she was doing. Host, who was feeling a little desperate now, then walked over to the girl I pointed at. "Noelle..." Host said, as they stood at the side of the deer girl's desk. Her name was Noelle, apparently. Noelle looked up as Host spoke, they spoke so low that Noelle was probably the only person who could hear them. Aside from me.
"Oh, Hey, Kris? What's up? Didja lose your pencil again?" Noelle said, she reached into her desk and pulled out two holiday themed pencils. "Here, do you want the candy cane one or the one with the lights on it?" Noelle offered. Though, that wasn't what Host was here to ask for. I found it quite nice, surely this girl wouldn't say no.
"No, um... I was actually wondering if... you wanted to be partners for the project...? I mean, if you don't want to... then it's okay-" Host whispered under their breath, they scratched their face before looking at me.
"Huh? You want to be partners?"
Noelle put the pencils down as she looked back up at Host. I gave a thumbs up, Noelle was Host's friend, I think. She was also very sweet, surely she'd want to be partners.
"Umm...sorry...Berdly already asked me..." Noelle sighed, she put her finger up to her mouth. She looked as if she had knew Host was going to show up today, she wouldn't have agreed to Berdly. Host and I both let out sighs in defeat. I felt rather...beat, but then Noelle looked like she had an idea.
"Oh, I have an idea. I could ask Mrs. Alphys if we could have a group of three? That way you can join me and Berdly? I'll ask if you're sure!" Noelle said, she smiled, and her ears wiggled a bit. Host, who looked happy to hear Noelle's suggestion, looked over at me for my input. I nodded immediately. Host then nodded their head in response. This would give them not one, but two partners, and the best part... Host would be in a group with Noelle, who was someone Host was comfortable with, it seemed.
"Okay, I'll ask." Noelle smiled at Host again as she got up from her seat and raised her hand. The whole class looked at Noelle as she did so. "Miss Alphys? Is it okay if we make a group of three? I want Kris to be my partner." Noelle said, Mrs Alphys looked in her direction, but a certain blue bird was quick to interject.
"Hey! What? No! I do NOT approve of this! ABORT!!!!" The blue bird shouted, Noelle retracted her hand as he shouted over her. I assumed this was Noelle's partner, ...uh...Burghley...was it? I don't remember-
"What? B-But Kris doesn't have a part--" Noelle tried to speak, but Mrs Alphys was confused by the sudden commotion and cut her off. "Noelle, what were you saying?" Mrs Alphys asked. I felt myself giggling at the whole situation. Host bumped me lightly with their shoulder. Noelle scrunched her lips, she looked as if she was about to mutter a response.
"She was just saying we're FINE being alone." The blue bird replied for her, he seemed to not want Host to be partner's with him and Noelle. "A-Actually...I just wanted to know if Kris...could be--" Noelle spoke rather sheepishly, she seemed nervous as the whole class was staring at her and Host now.
"Noelle, can you...please speak up?" Mrs Alphys sighed, she didn't quite hear Noelle due to her low tone. Noelle opened her mouth to speak, but she, and everyone else in the classroom went SILENT when the classroom door swung open with immense force, it nearly busted off it's hinges. Noelle clammed her mouth closed quickly sat down.
I jumped from the sudden loud noise, Host seemed startled as well. Everyone looked in the direction of the door, I leaned forward to see who it was. I was a bit startled to see a tall dinosaur looking monster, not one like Alphys, she looked like those big scary dinosaurs with the large sharp teeth. She had dirty messy brown hair, it was short but her bangs obscured her eyes. Much like how Host's bangs did. Her clothes looked stained, and her pants had holes in it. Her skin was purple and scaly too, and her fingers looked like it could cut skin with ease. My throat tightened, and I could tell just by looking at Host that theirs tightened too. She looked like the meanest kid here, even meaner than the cat girl and the bunny boy.
She walked inside the classroom, not bothering to shut the door she so rudely kicked. I felt rather relieved that she couldn't see me, if I'm honest. "H...Hi....Susie..." Alphys said in a low and hushed voice, despite telling Noelle to speak up just a moment ago. The mean girl, who's name was Susie apparently, panned her eyes around, she scoffed before talking
"...Am I late?" Susie said, she sounded unbothered. Her voice was deep and raspy. She sounded annoyed. Duh, of course she was late, everyone was here before her. Mrs Alphys seemed scared of Susie, so she shook her head no.
"O-Oh, n-no! You're fine! W-We were just...uh.." Mrs Alphys said, she clasped her hands, and her voice trailed off for a moment. "Ch-Choosing partners for the next group project, and...umm, Susie, you're with Kris! Since you...both came in last, and I'm sure Kris doesn't have a partner, right?" Alphys said as she looked over at Host. I felt my body freeze and shake, Host's body seemed frozen too. I heard them swallow their anxiety. Their heart sounded so loud in my ears. Susie, despite having her bangs obscure her eyes, glared at Host, surely they could feel her intense gaze. I surely could, and she wasn't even looking at me..
Host was sweating bullets from Susie's glare. They looked as if they did not want to be pared with Susie. They'd rather be pared with anyone else, I couldn't agree more. Host kept their head down and slowly nodded. Mrs Alphys smiled awkwardly before glancing back at Susie.
"...Great." Susie muttered in an annoyed tone, she sounded as if she did not want to be partners with Host at all. Noelle looked over at Kris and mouthed the words "I'm sorry." I looked at Host worryingly, I hoped Susie wasn't as bad as she seemed. Host then turned their attention to Noelle who had apologized. Host, who understood what Noelle was apologizing for, mouthed back "It's fine" to Noelle, even though Host wasn't fine, not at all. Host was now feeling both stressed and anxious, they then looked over at me with a panicked face.
"N-Now that everyone's here, I'll write the assignment!" Alphys said as she went over to the chalk board. I glanced back at Host with worried eyes and noticed Noelle kept her head down. Susie shuffled a bit as she panned her eyes around the classroom, everyone looked down except Clover, she had her arms crossed and a puffy expression was painted on her face.
"Uh, has anyone seen the chalk? This is the third time it's gone missing and...you all know I can't start class without some..." Mrs Alphys looked back at everyone, Noelle lifted her head a bit. "Hey...there might be some in the supply closet? Why don't Susie and I--" Noelle was cut off as Mrs Alphys instantly looked at Susie.
"Good idea, Noelle. S-Susie, since y-you came in last...could you get it for me?" Mrs Alphys said, she sounded so sweet. Susie's nose twitched as she glared at the teacher. "...Whatever." Susie grumbled as she left class and slammed the door behind her. The whole class let out a sigh of relief. She was so rude, but at least she was going to get the...uh...chalk? Whatever that was.
Host also looked relieved to see Susie leave, they took a deep breath. They were still feeling shaky, though, cuz now they were partners with Susie. Gosh, the next week of our life might be hell, I thought.
"U-um...K-Kris?" Mrs Alphys looked over at Host as Susie left. Host, who was then suddenly being called by Mrs Alphys, got a bit startled. They then looked at the small teacher, and gave her a nod. The reptile was now worried about Host, looked back over at her board before speaking up again. "Um...can you...go with Susie..? To make sure she actually gets the chalk...and stays out of trouble?" Mrs Alphys said as she uncrossed her arms. She knew Hostwas anxious but she wanted someone to make sure Susie actually returned with the 'chalk'. Everyone in class looked at Host. The cat girl from earlier even mouthed "You're so dead." with a smirk on her face.
Host felt all that anxiety fill them again, I'm sure of it. They didn't want to contest against Mrs Alphys it seemed. I heard some other whispers of the class, and felt a knot tie tighter inside of Host's stomach. "O-Okay..." Host said, they sounded a bit anxious as they said that, then looked towards the door where Susie left. They felt frozen, but I encouraged them to move. They did so, and walked out the door. I gave the class one more long stare before following Host.
Surely, nothing could go wrong, right? Susie is probably just a judged cover.

Delilah was having a grand ol' time carving pumpkins. Halloween was her favorite holiday after all and she loved decorating her house. Now this particular pumpkin was especially well carved. The eyes, the mouth... it looked pretty scary! Then, Delilah thought she saw the already scary pumpkin move its mouth and that was extremely frightening. So much so that she screamed and peed herself right there.
"Honey, are you alright?" Daddy said, rushing to her side.
Delilah was sobbing. "The pumpkin moved."
"Oh, it's okay, honey. It didn't move, that was just your imagination."
He picked up the pink pacifier that had fallen out of Delilah's mouth when she screamed and put it back in its place.
"But somebody is a little soggy!" he said while checking her diaper.
He began tickling her which made Delilah go into a giggling fit until she peed herself again, not realizing any more than the first time. By the time he was blowing raspberries on her tummy, Delilah had completely forgotten about the scary pumpkin. Soon enough, she'd be looking forward to Halloween again. She sure was going to enjoy trick or treating!

mary earps, out shopping, “remind me why i agreed to have those two idiots as my other children?” (lessi and tooney)
part of the a date to remember universe m.earps II we don't know them
"do they really have to come?" mary groaned as she pulled up out front, sighing heavily as you nodded. "we've been away for nearly two weeks. they probably missed you!" you teased pinching her cheek as she mocked you under her breath.
"i missed aunty lessi and aunty tooney!" delilah piped up from the back, swinging her legs with a cheshire like grin plastered on her face. "so did I tiny. mama did too, she just thinks she's too cool to admit it." you patted your wifes shoulder who rolled her eyes.
"did you tell them we're here? we're going to be late!" mary checked her watch with a huff as you quirked an eye in amusement. "can't be late to do the shopping mama." delilah beat you to it with a giggle as you looked back proudly.
"watch it kid or you'll lose your trolley privileges." mary warned fixing your daughter with a look through the rear view mirror. "so dramatic mary!" delilah parroted your own words from this morning as you slapped a hand over your mouth to stifle your laughter.
though before the goalkeeper could say anything back there was knocks at her window and she jumped a half foot in the air, scowling at the smirking brunette who winked and climbed into the car.
"where's alessia? for god sakes!" mary groaned head thumping back against her headrest. "for god sakes!" delilah mocked doing the same thing as her head thumped against the back of her car seat and she only giggled as mary shot her a dirty look.
"we're still in the parrot phase." you explained to ella who nodded in understanding, a flash of blonde hair hurrying down the driveway and diving into the car. "sorry! couldn't find my other sock." alessia huffed wrestling on her shoe as mary rolled her eyes.
"see? i told you we could go away for two years and these idiots wouldn't change." mary mumbled under her breath as you squeezed her knee, the taller girl huffing and leaning across to kiss your cheek in a silent apology starting the car back up.
with the other two in the car now the time flew past as delilah caught them up on the adventures of your last two weeks away in mallorca on holiday, both girls listening attentively with oo's of wonder.
"hello children." you finally greeted them both with a hug and a smile as you arrived to the grocery store, jumping out of the car as mary ignored them both and unclipped delilah.
"whats up marys ass this mornin? she got blue balls or somethin?" ella whispered with a wink as alessia shoved her with a dissaproving shake of her head. "something like that." you chuckled, marys plans of a romantic night together now you weren't sharing a room with your daughter ruined by the daughter in question refusing to sleep in her own bed and you not making her.
"we can stop the co-sleeping tomorrow. come on baby, family cuddles!" you denied marys request to remove delilah who was already fast asleep curled into your side, your wife sighing heavily but knowing this wasn't something worth arguing.
but a restless night with little feet kicking into her ribs every ten minutes or a tiny hand smacking her cheek and wriggling around meant it was one without much sleep, meaning a very grumpy mary this morning.
"mary. baby come on, your nose is so long its almost hitting the ground." you poked at your wifes side as alessia and ella hurried off ahead, swinging delilah between them.
"only things on the list!" mary called warning the trio as alessia gave a thumbs up, handing the piece of paper to your daughter who was now happily sat in a trolley, the three of them disappearing into the aisles.
"come on earps, give us a smile." you jostled your wife as she grabbed a trolley for your own list. "not in the mood." the goalkeeper warned but made no move to let go as you slipped your hand into hers.
"well, maybe later you can get in the mood." you smiled suggestively, the taller girl looking down at you with a frown. "i didn't invite ella and less just for a catch up. if we buy them lunch and butter them up a little, i'm sure they'd love to take delilah for a sleepover tonight." you quirked an eyebrow, grinning as mary's face lit up.
"my god woman, you're a genius." mary grabbed your face, kissing all over it as you laughed. "yeah yeah tell me something i don't know. i'm offended you seem so surprised!" you poked her accusingly before starting off toward the fruit and vegetables, having given delilah all the 'fun' food knowing she'd whinge about the healthier things.
"mary!" you hissed as her hand caught your ass, your complaints swallowed by the kiss she stole with a charming smile. "it slipped." she winked, reaching over your head to grab a punnet of strawberries.
you were both almost done with your part of the list when you heard a horrendously loud crash the aisle over and winced, sharing a knowing look.
"please tell me that isn't ours." you mumbled, the pair of you slowly heading toward the source of the noise. "i can tell you but you can't get mad at me for lying." mary sighed at the sight which met you, a bright red alessia apologizing profusely to a store employee as ella wiped off delilah who was coated in flower, her own body caked with white as well.
you met alessia's eyes over the employee's shoulder, feeling mary slip her hand back into yours.
"remind me why i agreed to have those two idiots as my other children? "pretend we don't know them?" "darling you read my mind."
"oi you two get back here!"

Hiii I love ur platonic and possessive Astro with younger!reader and that got me thinking..How about platonic and possessive Sprout with a Baby girl!reader as his sibling?? And it feels a bit silly.. but I’m allowed to be silly and you too :D!!
-✨
I like the idea, and I'd also love to get creative by imagining that baby!reader would have an appearance similar to a seed, with just one or two leaves that look like hair due to the way strawberries grow
And I took my own creative liberties when writing about Sprout, btw
Warnings/Notes: Babygirl!reader, possesive Sprout (platonic), pronuns she/her with Y/N [Reader], a bit OOC
Gardenview had never been this busy on a holiday weekend—unless there was some kind of event or pending task to be done. But this time, it was just a normal day.
Not to mention that the Toons’ Handlers rarely showed up unless it was under strict orders from Delilah or Arthur. So, naturally, all the Toons were trying to figure out what was going on or what was keeping the staff running back and forth without stopping.
Even the Mains weren’t getting any attention! And considering they were usually the Handlers' top priority, everyone was equally surprised.
"Dandy, are you sure Devan didn’t mention anything?" Poppy asked, resting her face in the palm of her hands, clearly curious and anxious to know what was happening outside.
"Ah… Poppy, I’m going to give you the same answer I gave you the last ten times: no." Dandy replied, flipping through drawings that various kids had made during their visits to Gardenview and left behind.
"Nothing bad happened, right? Delilah rarely meets with our Handlers…"
"Stop worrying that music box of yours, Boxten! I already told you everything’s going to be fine!"
Poppy tried to reassure Boxten, hoping to keep him from spiraling into an anxious, worry-filled state.
The atmosphere was starting to grow tense as everyone began coming up with their own theories and speculations about what could be happening. The fact that no one knew anything, and that it was all so sudden—even for the Mains—was far too strange.
"Uuuuh… What dumb designs, looks like a radish."
"Yeah, a really ugly and dumb radish."
"Oh man, they look so ridiculous with those little flowers around them!"
Suddenly, not-so-discreet murmurs and laughter from Gigi and Connie started echoing louder through the room, causing all the Toons to go silent just to hear what they were talking about. Not only did it spark curiosity about their conversation, but also about whatever it was they were laughing at.
Vee, who had been standing with Shelly and Sprout just moments ago, walked over to the two Toons with a deep frown, filled with suspicion over whatever they were scheming.
"Ahem. Do you two plan on showing us what you’ve got?" Vee demanded, crossing her arms as her gaze flicked between Gigi and Connie.
A brief silence settled between them as they exchanged glances, before Connie sighed and Gigi pouted slightly, reluctantly revealing the papers they had been holding.
"Let’s just say I took a little stroll through Delilah’s office while they were busy and found… this." Connie explained with a teasing lilt, barely holding back a laugh at Vee’s deepening frown upon realizing she had been snooping around in Delilah’s office.
Vee immediately started scolding Connie, yelling at her about how she shouldn’t be digging through the founders’ (their creators’) belongings, since it was strictly forbidden. Not to mention—it was also stealing. She also blamed Gigi, accusing her of plotting to rummage through Delilah and Arthur’s things while all of this was going on.
While that whole scene was unfolding, Sprout noticed a sheet of paper that Connie had set aside while reluctantly enduring Vee’s scolding. Curious, he moved closer, picking it up to examine it in more detail.
The details on the page left him completely stunned—no, more than stunned.
In the upper left corner, the name Y/N Seedly was written. Meanwhile, the center of the page was filled with designs of this Y/N, depicting a rather childlike appearance. The design closely resembled a growing plant, with its greenish tones and the tiny leaves that barely looked like hair. Below that, Delilah and Arthur’s signatures were present, along with a couple of extra notes marked as "to be added" or simply labeled as "notes" about Y/N.
“She doesn’t look any older than Toodles… She actually seems smaller than that ‘Y/N.’ I’d even say the kids who visit Gardenview are older than this one, and Gardenview accepts kids as young as five…”
Rodger’s sudden voice snapped Sprout out of his thoughts, making him aware of the growing warmth he was feeling—and the countless eyes now locked onto the paper he was holding.
“Wha- WHY ARE YOU ALL STANDING BEHIND ME?” Sprout exclaimed sharply, only just realizing the sheer number of curious Toons gathered behind and beside him, all trying to get a look at what he had in his hands.
Rodger continued mumbling possible conclusions based on the most logical explanations, but Sprout wasn’t paying attention anymore. His focus was entirely on the name written on the page.
Why did they have his last name? Were they supposed to be related in some way, or was it just a coincidence—?
“Alright, that’s enough chattering, everyone. We’ve got a new friend! But hush, okay?”
A new voice—one that was very well-known among them—rang out, immediately quieting all the murmurs and scattered conversations as the Toons turned their attention toward Devan.
Sam entered the room, cradling a small bundle wrapped in a soft red blanket with white polka dots. From the gentle rise and fall of the bundle, it was clear that he was holding someone.
Sprout was the first to step forward, moving toward his Handler to get a closer look at what he was keeping so carefully hidden. He already had a slight suspicion about what—or who—it was.
Sam knelt down to Sprout’s height, gently bringing the tiny figure closer. Nestled within the soft cotton blanket was a small being, peacefully asleep.
“Hey, looks like you finally have a family of your own,” Sam murmured, offering Sprout a soft smile. “Meet Y/N Seedly—your new sister.”
He spoke the last part in a quieter voice, knowing that Sprout didn’t like hearing his last name spoken aloud, especially in front of everyone.
“Uh… Am I holding her right?” Sprout asked, a hint of nervousness in his voice as he carefully adjusted his grip, unsure of how to properly carry his new little sister.
“Perfect. You’ll get the hang of it soon enough.”
Sam stood up, ready to share the news with the rest of the Toons. Meanwhile, the Mains gathered around Sprout, peeking curiously from the sides but careful not to disrupt the little moment he was having.
Sprout’s tail began wagging from side to side as he gazed down at his new sister, like something straight out of a fairy tale. That settled it—he would take very good care of her. Nothing was going to happen to her, not on his watch. He was going to be the best big brother in the entire world.
Slowly, he reached out and gently touched the tiny leaves sprouting from her head—soft, pale green, not yet fully grown. The same went for the small tail she had, barely visible and still too underdeveloped for any properly sized leaves to form.
Carefully, he pulled her closer to his chest, making sure not to wake her and disturb her dreams. That protective feeling inside him only grew stronger. He had to keep her safe. Nothing—not even the smallest harm—was going to touch his little sister.

Y/N and Delilah's relationship had once been close and unstrained. They shared a tight bond growing up, and even when Y/N went off to college, they remained connected. Y/N would frequently pick up Delilah, and they would spend time together in the city, especially when Elizabeth, their mother, was occupied. However, the dynamics shifted dramatically during a Christmas break when Y/N stayed over for the holidays.
On a particular day, Y/N woke up later than usual, unconcerned due to being on vacation. Initially, the house felt empty, with her mother leaving a note in the kitchen explaining that she had gone out to handle something at the office. The note also requested Y/N to wake up Delilah if she was still in bed and to start defrosting the chicken for Christmas dinner.
She followed her words with precision, fetching the chicken and arranging it on a tray before ascending the stairs to awaken Delilah. As she approached Delilah's door down the hallway, the sound of giggling reached her ears, indicating that Delilah was already awake. Nonetheless, Y/N proceeded to enter her room. Since childhood, it had been a customary practice for either of them to join the other in bed upon waking, sharing a moment to cuddle and watch a show.
However, everything took a stark turn when Y/N walked into Delilah's room only to find her engaged in drug use with her boyfriend. It wasn’t marijuana, but Y/N could tell that they were doing pills and cocaine for the tiny residue of white powder on her nightstand.
Y/N was furious, unable to believe what her eyes had witnessed. Swiftly, she ushered Delilah's boyfriend out of the house, delivering stern words to her sister. Despite Y/N's attempt to approach the situation with politeness and understanding, Delilah's primary concern was the potential revelation to their mother. It was clear – Y/N had to inform their mother, Elizabeth, to put a stop to the escalating situation.
Without a second thought, Y/N disclosed everything when her mother arrived through the front door. However, Elizabeth's unexpected reaction caught Y/N off guard. She vehemently denied every allegation, as if she had witnessed the entire incident firsthand.
In a state of denial, Elizabeth refused to believe Y/N's account. To her, Delilah, though not perfect, had been raised in the same manner as Y/N. The accusations seemed like a fabrication.
As tensions escalated with everyone shouting, Y/N pointed out that Elizabeth's leniency toward Delilah was a ticking time bomb. This declaration led to Y/N being expelled from the house, a decision she agreed with for the best.
Months later, Elizabeth received a call from the school reporting that Delilah had passed out due to drugs found in her system. Faced with the possibility of her daughter being expelled and the embarrassment of a doctor's visit, Elizabeth took drastic measures. She forbade Delilah from seeing her boyfriend and imposed stricter rules.
"You get to live here with your boyfriend while I'm not allowed to see mine. How is that fair?" Delilah cried in front of both her mother and sister.
"My boyfriend doesn't use drugs, Delilah. It's as simple as that," she calmly stated, her hands gently caressing her tummy.
"That's bullshit! I should have a say in who I can date or not. Both of you are just assholes," she shouted, tears streaming down her face. Elizabeth, about to respond, was interrupted by Y/N, who pressed her hand against Delilah's shoulder.
"Calm down. This isn't your home and stop yelling at us. When you turn eighteen, you are free to do whatever you please. If you want to leave home and move in with him, then go ahead; we won't stop you. You are still seventeen and under Mom's guardianship. Grow up," Y/N dryly said, tired of the conversation already. She felt like she was talking to a wall.
"Now, go to sleep," Elizabeth added, earning a slamming door to their faces. "I am sorry," she apologized. "I didn't mean to cause trouble or bring it into your home."
"Mom, this has nothing to do with you. She is just being a brat. Eventually, she'll realize that what we did was just to help her and with the best intentions." Elizabeth nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. She felt embarrassed, and it was a relief to finally have someone on her side after more than a year of constant struggle. "Now, get some sleep. I love you," Y/N smiled, kissing the top of her head.
The journey to Anguilla proved to be quite arduous, especially for Y/N, who, being pregnant, found the nearly five-hour flight exceptionally uncomfortable. However, as soon as they set foot on Anguilla, the exhaustion seemed to dissipate in the face of the island's breathtaking beauty.
Anguilla, cradled in the warm embrace of the Eastern Caribbean, mesmerized with its awe-inspiring charm. Endless stretches of pristine white-sand beaches unfolded, caressed by the gentle touch of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Palms swayed gracefully in the balmy breeze, orchestrating a natural symphony in the serene surroundings. Beneath the crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs beckoned for exploration, revealing a mesmerizing array of marine life. Quaint villages dotted the landscape, their colorful buildings adorned with bougainvillea, creating a postcard-worthy scene against the azure sky.
Y/N successfully persuaded Harry to opt for a resort instead of renting out an extravagant mansion for their week-long babymoon. She even convinced him to choose a regular suite over a presidential one. Initially resistant, Harry relented when Y/N expressed her desire for a tranquil and ordinary babymoon, and he, in his eagerness to give her the world, agreed to her wishes.
"Thank you for choosing to stay with us, Mr. and Mrs. Styles. We're delighted to have you here, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy your time," the receptionist warmly greeted them, handing over their electronic keys. Harry offered a quiet acknowledgment before intertwining their hands, leading Y/N towards the elevators.
As the elevator doors closed, sealing them in a private moment, Y/N couldn't help but question the unexpected title bestowed upon her. "Mrs. Styles? Really?" she queried, her curiosity peeking through. It marked the first time she had been addressed as such, and she pondered whether it was a deliberate decision by the receptionist or an innocent oversight. The realization struck her—she liked the sound of it, even though they weren't married or engaged. It carried a certain charm that resonated within her.
"What?" Harry responded, arching his eyebrow with a mischievous smile playing on his lips. A nonchalant shrug followed. "I didn't feel like correcting the man. He was just doing his job."
Y/N couldn't help but tease him, "You usually love correcting people. What's different about this scene?" Harry chuckled, shaking his head at her. "Was it intentional or a mistake?"
"Don't worry about it," Harry reassured her, sealing his response with a kiss on the top of her head and a brief peck on her lips just as the elevator doors opened to reveal their floor. "I'm starving. Let's grab some food and head to the beach."
After a quick shower to refresh themselves, Y/N and Harry headed down to the restaurant. Y/N had chosen a white bikini beneath a sandy-colored beach dress, her hair pulled up into a bun to combat the effects of the hot weather. Harry opted for a loose button-down shirt and swim trunks.
As they settled at a table overlooking the ocean, the cool breeze from the sea kept them refreshed. Y/N perused the menu, sharing, "I'm craving a cold fruity drink. The Benedict eggs sound good." When met with silence, she looked up to find Harry gazing at her with an affectionate expression.
"What?" she inquired, lifting her sunglasses so their eyes could connect.
"Nothing. I just love you endlessly," Harry confessed, his gaze lingering. "And you're glowing with your pregnancy."
Nervously, Y/N ran a hand across her pregnant tummy, savoring the habitual connection with her unborn daughter. The gentle movements beneath her fingers served as a comforting anchor, grounding her in the reality of impending motherhood. The uncertainty of what kind of parent she would be lingered in her thoughts. Y/N desired a close relationship with her daughter yet also envisioned instilling the same discipline her father, Harry, embodied.
"I'm nervous. What if she doesn't like me?" Y/N candidly shared her doubts. "What if she hates me and dreads coming home for the holidays because she can't stand me?"
"Darlin', she hasn't even been born. I'm sure she's going to love you just like Oliver does," Harry reassured, a warm smile lighting up his face. "And trust me, nothing can be worse than my parents, and you're nothing like them." He chuckled, attempting to alleviate her concerns with humor.
Before Y/N could utter a word, a disinterested waitress approached to take their order.
"Room number?" The young woman mechanically recited; her lack of enthusiasm evident. Harry exchanged a glance with Y/N, both sensing her disinterest, though neither chose to comment.
"805," Harry replied, "We'd like one watermelon juice, one mango juice, eggs benedict, and French toasts, please."
The waitress, seemingly uninterested until now, finally glanced up from her notepad as she reached for the menus. It was at that moment she noticed Harry.
"Oh, hi!" she exclaimed, instantly drawn to his charm. Harry, unaware of her attraction, offered a kind smile. "Would you like the juices turned into cocktails?"
"I wouldn't," Y/N interjected, feeling uncomfortable with the waitress's persistent gaze.
"Neither would I. I'll be supportive of you," Harry added, emphasizing his decision not to drink in solidarity with Y/N during her pregnancy. He wanted to ensure she didn't feel left out when others enjoyed a drink by the beach.
"Supporting who?" The waitress bluntly asked, catching the couple off guard with her straightforwardness.
"To me. His pregnant girlfriend," Y/N replied with a tinge of bitterness, finally prompting the waitress to acknowledge her presence.
"Oh, right. Sorry. I'll be back with your order," she responded, her gaze momentarily shifting to her stomach before returning to Y/N's displeased expression.
"Look at you marking territory," Harry playfully pointed out, observing the unexpected assertiveness. "I've never seen you so aggressive."
"Shut up," Y/N quickly retorted, putting an end to his teasing. "She was literally asking for it. Kept looking at you as if you were naked." Harry burst into laughter as she continued to pout.
"She is quite perky, isn't she?" The woman from the couple sitting beside them remarked, prompting Harry and Y/N to turn toward them, realizing how close they were to their table. "The waitress," she clarified, noticing their confused expressions.
"Oh, right!" Y/N nodded in understanding. "She clearly wants to be working." The couple chuckled, appearing a few years older than them.
"I'm Paige, and this is my husband, David," she introduced after a brief silence. "We noticed you from the moment you walked into the restaurant. You two are a great-looking couple. It's kind of hard to look away."
"I'm Y/N, and that's Harry. Thank you. That's really sweet," Y/N responded, though she could sense Harry's subtle discomfort with the presence of the other couple.
"Are you two married?" the woman asked, her eyes curious. "I mean, you look very much in love," she clarified.
"No, not yet," Harry responded with a warm smile.
"Better hurry up, buddy. Someone could snatch her right from under your feet," David warned, injecting a touch of humor into the conversation. Y/N felt a sudden unease at the thought, her gaze momentarily shifting to Harry, who chuckled but seemed to share a hint of discomfort.

sorry if this is Damn Incoherent or missing anything Glaring as i haven't seen Everything there is to see from the christmas event. anyway. i know i'm just making shit up based on my own oc-verse when it comes to delilah and toon creation and the effect it's had on her but like. i don't think i want her to be Just Evil. they said dandy isn't Just Evil so it just feels a little wrong to me that 'but there Will be a Just Evil one'. like i certainly see how she's shaping up to be The Villain in the way she's talked abt Particularly the holiday toons in the christmas event and giving All of the toons like. Experiment Number Designations. and maybe being the reason dandy can Go Twisted. but arthur seems to have a lot of trust in her and I don't want to believe it's just Him Being Naive.
(the following is headcanons territory) I like to think arthur and delilah have been friends for a long time and he like. just Gets her way of speaking and acting. she comes off very cold and clinical, she's so Guarded and these walls Barely come down but he Understands her. and inversely she cares A Lot about what he's passionate about. she admires his kindness and trust and unapologetic love for everything around him. she made the toons Real for him bc his show is important to him and she wanted to help him. i think she also cares about the toons but she doesn't quite see them the same as arthur does. she cares about them bc arthur cares about them, not exactly bc She Cares About Them Independently Of Arthur. she thinks it's really cool she was able to do this but yeah. they're a Feat to her first and foremost
and with my headcanons about toon creation, making a toon real is Physically making your investment of something intangible into an independently living thinking fully formed Thing capable of motor function and speech right out the gate. it wears on your soul bc it Came from there, it is borrowing bits of your heart and brain. i think with making like 28 and counting there's not much of her soul Left at this point. i think that's made her 'worse'. i think that's made her think 'it's a waste of resources' about the holiday toons disappearing and to 'think of it as a good thing' about them finding corners to die in like a spider of malnutrition in your bedroom. i think it has all Worn Away her identity and sense of self or sense of Care. and this isn't even factoring in whatever the fuck THE ICHOR has to do with anything bc I don't even Know what it is. but i Don't think it really helped anything. i just think she's like. a sick sick husk of herself by the time gardenview shuts down.
#i just think arthur is so kind and thoughtful for her and delilah is an acts of service person and she takes it. a mite too far in return#this is why love from the other side is an arthur and delilah song to me HSNSJSJDJSJSJ#my sibling didnt quite see my vision when i originally shared it with xem#YOU WERE THE SUNSHINE. OF MY LIFETIME. Hi I just saw ur girl dad lando requests r open and ran over bc I'm obsessed with dad lando too and there's simply not enough fics on it unfortunately.
Anyway my fic/blurb idea is fluffy and slightly angsty? so lando and fem!wife!reader's daughters r in their teens and and they're used to reader (their mum) typically being the "bad cop" and lando being the "fun parent" who will spoil them and can never say no to them when reader does. One day readers tired of her teens hating her for being the mean one so they decide to switch roles and the girls r rlly confused and angry at lando and start being nice to reader who's enjoying watching lando take her place for once. Maybe the girls ask to go out to a party or ask for new phones or smth u can decide. Ignore my request if it doesn't seem interesting 😭 and have a grt day byee xx
thank you for the request! a few other grid kids make an appearance, hope that's okay! and lando is such a fun dad type guy you're so right x
feel free to request more :)
Having teenage girls was not an easy feat.
You were warned of the terrible twos and gotten through them twice with your sanity intact, but nobody had ever warned you about teenagers. You suspect it should’ve been a given, but when you thought about having teenagers you always saw yourself as the type of mum who your daughters would feel close to.
Now that you’re the mum of a sixteen and seventeen year old, you find yourself becoming the opposite. You’ve turned into the bad cop between Lando and yourself. He’s the fun parent, you’re the party pooper. He spoils Estelle and Delilah because he can, because he loves his girls more than life itself, and you’re stuck reining in his gift giving because you don’t want them to become accustomed to always getting what they want when they want no matter the cost.
Even when you put your foot down on some of their more extravagant requests, Lando finds a way around it.
Part of the reason Lando spoils them so much is because he was still racing in Formula One when both of them were born and while they were growing up, so he’d miss things sometimes. He tried his hardest not to miss bigger events like their birthdays and holidays, but other stuff like their school recitals, sports games—he did the best he could, but a lot of the time it just never aligned with his busy schedule.
Now that he’d taken a step back from being in the seat of a car for the past three years, he was trying to make up for lost time.
“I feel like the girls think I’m a hardass,” you sigh as you’re getting ready for bed one night. Lando is brushing his teeth, but he sticks his head out of the bathroom at your words, frowning at you with the brush still in his mouth. “Do you think they hate me?”
“You’re their mum, they don’t hate you,” he replies through toothpaste bubbles, wrinkling his nose at you. “All you’ve done their whole lives is take care of them. How could they hate you?”
“Because I’m their mum,” you say pointedly. Lando cocks his head, like he doesn’t understand what you’re saying. “Mums and daughters are different from mums and sons. Trust me.”
“Okay, fair. But I don’t think you’re a hardass. You’re just…firm with them, is all.”
You snort unattractively, looking at him pointedly. “Yeah, I have to be, mister take my credit card, buy whatever you want.” Lando hums thoughtfully, disappearing back into the bathroom to finish washing up before reappearing and padding over to his side of the bed. “I love that you want them to have everything they could ever dream of, and I say this with nothing but even more love, but you’re not the best when it comes to saying no to the girls.”
“I know. I just…I hate it when they look so disappointed and sad.”
“And you think I do? I don’t want to be the bad cop, but someone has to,” you grumble, setting aside your book. Lando snuggles up close to you, propping his chin on your shoulder. “You should try it.”
“Ha, that’s funny.”
“No, I’m serious, Lan. Tomorrow, we switch roles. You’ll be me and I’ll be you, and then you’ll understand,” you propose, smiling at him in that way you know he won’t be able to resist. All these years and you’ve still got your husband wrapped around your finger.
“That doesn’t sound like a good time.”
“Oh, it won’t be. Not for you, at least. But we’re a team, aren’t we?”
“I hate it when you’re right.”
—
Fortunately for Lando, things at the Norris household don’t get interesting until nighttime the following day.
“Hey Mum, we’re going out tonight. Just wanted to let you know since we might be out after curfew,” Estelle says absentmindedly, not looking up from her phone. Beside her, Delilah giggles quietly, ever her older sister’s follower. You want to tell them no—their curfew is late enough as it is and they’ve got school tomorrow—but you refrain. It’s Lando’s turn to be the bad cop.
“Sure, I don’t see why not. Ask your father first though,” you reply instead. From the couch where he’s watching some rerun of an old grand prix, Lando straightens at the mention of his name, twisting around to look at you with wide eyes. You raise a brow, tilting your head at the two girls who’ve turned their attention on their dad. “Go on, he’s listening.”
They share a confused look with each other, but you can see the gears turning in their quick teenage brains. If mum said yes, dad would definitely say yes. Easy.
Or so they think.
Delilah bounces over to sit on the couch next to Lando, smiling at him widely. “Hi daddy! Can we go to a party tonight?”
Now Estelle’s sitting on his other side, bringing out the same patented charming Norris grin. “Well, it’s not really a party. More like a few friends hanging out. Super laid back.”
“Uh huh. Gonna need some more details, lovebugs,” Lando hums, flashing their same smile right back at them. There’s no use in trying to play the guy who invented the game. “Who’s gonna be there, where it is. You wouldn’t want your mum and I to worry, would you?”
“Um…” Delilah balks. She probably wasn’t expecting him to ask so many questions. He usually doesn’t, just says yes because he can’t bring himself to say no to them.
Estelle cuts in before her sister can potentially dig them into an inescapable hole. “Adrien’s going, Clara and Maeve will be there too, and Teo.”
Adrien and Teo—Charles’ and Carlos’ sons, respectively, and Clara and Maeve—Oscar’s twin daughters. You know that she knows the two of you trust your friends, so name dropping their kids would give them a fighting chance. She’s smart like that. You’d admire it more if her intellect wasn’t aimed at sweet talking her parents.
Lando sneaks another panicked glance back at you, and you shake your head slightly. That solidifies his resolve, because as much as he doesn’t want to disappoint them, you have an agreement, and a deal’s a deal. “Sorry girls, it’s gonna be a no. We’re all staying in tonight.”
“What?”
“Let’s do something as a family, yeah? Game night? Or you can do some laps on the sim, I know how much you like that,” Lando offers up, as if enticing them with sim racing would soften the blow of their dad’s first no.
“Seriously? But dad, it’s not a party! We’re just gonna watch a movie or something!” Estelle exclaims, crossing her arms over her chest.
The girls share another look with each other, this one more irritated than confused. Lando just tries his best to stay firm looking. You, on the other hand, watch the whole thing play out from where you are, fighting to hide a smile, because now he knows how you feel all the damn time. It shouldn’t please you, but as someone who’s been taking the brunt of their teenage-ness for a while now, it brings you just a smidge of joy.
“That doesn’t change things, unfortunately. You two will be staying here with your dear old parents, and that’s it.”
“That’s so unfair though!” Estelle huffs, rolling her eyes.
Lando cocks his head at her, brows raised in challenge. “I’d watch the attitude if I were you, Stell.”
Delilah switches her tactic to try and salvage things, coming over to where you’re still chopping vegetables at the kitchen counter. Out of the two of them, your youngest knows exactly where her mum’s soft spot lies. “Mum? We just want to hang out with our friends. Please?”
“You heard your dad, girls,” you say, shrugging. “If he says no, it’s no. Sorry.”
They disappear down the corridor grumbling to each other rather quickly after that, no doubt already texting their friends about how awful their dad is. It almost makes you laugh, because for once, you’re not the one they’re mad at. Lando trudges over to you, pressing himself against your back in a rather dejected hug.
“Doesn’t feel great, does it?”
“Is this what it feels like to be you?” he groans. You can feel him frowning against your neck and you chuckle, running your fingers through his curls affectionately. “We’re setting some more ground rules, effectively immediately.”
“Like what, don’t be mean to your mum? They’re teenagers, Lan. It’s what they do.”
“I was never like this.” That draws quite a laugh from you. “What?”
“So if I call your parents and ask them if you were ever a little shit when you were younger, they’d say no?”
“...Don’t call them.”
“That’s what I thought.” You kiss his cheek gratefully still. “We balance each other out well, I’d say. I don’t mind being the bad cop sometimes, but you can’t just be a fun dad all the time.”
“But it’s so fun being a fun dad,” he whines, but you know he understands. “I don’t have to feel like this.”
“You’ll get over it, darling. They will too, and we’ll be back to the same old thing tomorrow.”
“I love you, bad cop.”
“Love you more, fun dad.”
