So I drew both mascots of the main blog (Sintyrx) and my DeviantArt (Angi). An angel and a devil being friends!
Specifically, a gothic-loli mom friend angel, and a hate filled succubus.
Hope you enjoy the two of them!

Sweet treats
Reader x Swirls short story
You just got a new job at a candy shop, how exciting!
You were so happy about it too. You always loved sweets and sugar sense a young age. The uniforms were absolutely adorable! White shirts with pink stripes, brown skirts/pants, and a white apron.
You hurried on to put it on and get to your new job.
Upon arriving to the shop, the smell of raindow sorbet was full in the air.
"Oh my god, it smells so amazing in here! I need to go to the boss first." She immediately spoke to yourself as you rushed in.
"Y/n! I was worried you'd never show up! Come in, come in!" The manager greeted you with joy. You knew them for a long time so getting this job was a dream.
The walls were absolutely littered with so much sweetness. On the wall by the counter, was a painting of the shop's mascot, Swirls. An adorable, pastel colored creature.
"Hey, I'm sorry about that! I'm happy to be here!" You replied.
"Well! You're here now! Let's get you started!"
The next few hours was you being trained by the manager. Eventually, the night crept up, and you fely exhausted. The manager had left for the night having full trust in you to close up.
"Aaalright, all done.. god I'm tired.." you mumbled.
"You look tired, little one."
You immediately froze up and turned around to see the mascot, in the flesh.
"Y-you- wh-"
"Hey hey, it's okay! I won't hurt ya!" They immediately responded. "I saw you were tired. I wanted to help..!"
"H-help..?"
"Yea! But..I'll need you to trust me, okay..? Don't worry, you'll be very safe and comfortable." They chirped. "Afterall, It's gonna storm tonight. I don't want you to get sick.."
"I- a-alright..I trust you.." you mumbled. The creature immediately smiled and picked you up with easy. Their sticky tounge slowly went up your face.
"Mmm, you taste amazing, Y/n." They commented. You..oddly didn't feel any fear towards the comment.
"I..t-thanks?"
"You're very welcome! Ready?" They asked, clearly anticipating to eat you-
"Y-yea, I guess.." you replied. Soon enough, you were gently stuffed into their mouth. They purred loudly as they swallowed you alive. There was no liquid in sight though. It was dry and surprisingly, plush like. It smelled so much like Citrus fruits too.
"Mhhh, you were so delicious, Y/n. Don't worry about anything happening though, I literally can't digest! My stomach is basically like a warm waterbed." They giggled, softly rubbing their swollen out belly.
They were right, it did feel like a waterbed.
"I..feel so tired.." you finally responded. Such warmth soothing your pains and aches.
"Go ahead and sleep, my little candy! I'll let you out in the morning." They cooed.
With ease, you fell asleep inside Swirls. Knowing that you'd always be safe with them.

Closing thoughts on Punchline
The following contains some spoilers on the magical girl character, but I’ll try not to spoil the rest of the story.
For starters, there was a lot less magical girl content than I hoped. I knew the magical girl would be a side character, but she also spent a lot of time in her civilian form. And most importantly there weren’t that many magical girl tropes in the first place and she was really more like a super hero instead. But there was a fun take on a henshin in the beginning so that’s at least some magical girl content. And the way the powers damaged her health and forced her to take medicine after using them was a nice chance from the usual magical girl fare where there’s pretty much no cost from getting superpowers.
But aside from that... yeah that was a wild ride. If you’ve ever heard people who don’t really watch anime all that much describe all anime as being just really weird, this is exactly that. The most Anime anime I remember seeing. Bright colours, lots of plot twists, robots, giant mecha, magical girls, otaku, disembodied spirits, super powers, animal mascots, childhood friends, teenagers trying to prevent apocalypse, this has it all. And then obviously the fanservice, given how the premise is “main guy gets super powers when he gets aroused”, but honestly that played a lot smaller part than I expected. Even the panty shots were surprisingly few. Or they were in every episode, but the premise made me think that this would be nothing but underwear in your face all the time.
The best thing about the show were definitely the visuals. Everything was so colourful and cartoony and memorable. And Strange Juice’s magical girl outfit was cute too, magical girly enough but not the most generic possible frills-and-ribbons look, and the citrus theme is delicious.
All in all the show was an enjoyable watch, and the friendships between the characters were heartwarming. Plus I found myself liking the main guy surprisingly much, and there was quite an interesting detail about his past that I didn’t see coming. Even the absurd plot made sense in the show’s universe, though I didn’t quite agree with the main character’s choice in the end.
Recommended if you want a fun and colourful show. But you need to be able to stomach a lot of fanservice, and I’d suggest watching more than just the first episode before deciding whether to drop it or not since the premise is so ridiculous.

If you’ve never visited Walt Disney World during the holiday season, let’s just say it’s…a feast for all the senses. Jolly Christmas tunes follow you everywhere you go. Elaborate gingerbread houses—yes, made with real gingerbread—are erected throughout the parks and resorts (the one at Disney’s Grand Floridian truly can’t be missed), perfuming the air with warm spices. Signature rides and landmarks, like Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom and the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios, get full makeovers with holiday decorations and overlays.
And of course, no feast is complete without food. Disney has continued its never-ending race to outdo itself in the culinary realm, creating new themed treats for special occasions, holidays and movie releases year round—but the Christmas season really shines above the rest.
This year, there are a sleigh-load of new foods that are exclusive to the holidays, and some that are even more exclusive, only being offered during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which is a special ticketed event that takes place during certain evenings at the Magic Kingdom for an additional fee.
After eating my way through all the treats at the Magic Kingdom, sacrificing my tooth enamel for the sake of journalism, I’ve come up with the top five treats that are worth your time and money should you find yourself in the park during the next few weeks and in need of a sugar rush.
RELATED: 55 Magical Mickey-Shaped Foods You Can Eat at Disney Parks
1. Santa Mickey Waffle Sundae
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, $7.79
View this post on Instagram Breakfast was a Santa Mickey red velvet waffle with mint chip ice cream and peppermint powder. A pure delight. Please follow along on my story today as I make myself ill trying all the Disney holiday snacks for you. (Epcot International Festival of the Holidays preview! Very Merry Christmas Party! Everything!)

This was my first stop on this oh-so-sweet journey (waffles are technically a breakfast food, right?), and was absolutely one of the top eats of the day. The waffle is everything a waffle should be: crisp enough to make a light crackling sound when you cut into it, but soft in the center, like a slightly-fudgy red velvet cake. For red velvet, it was heavy on the chocolate and light on the food coloring—just a mild tint—which was also appreciated. With a dusting of peppermint powder and mint chip ice cream, it could have been easy to go overboard and taste like Colgate, but the minty flavor was restrained and provided just the perfect holiday accent.
2. Kakamora Float
Aloha Isle, $6.99 (exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party)
View this post on Instagram I ate approximately 3.5 million desserts tonight but all you need to know right now is that the COCONUT DOLE WHIP is an absolute jam and I will dream of it for decades to come
A post shared by Shay Spence | Cruise & Amuse (@theshayspence) on Nov 22, 2019 at 6:49pm PST
//www.instagram.com/embed.js
It’s named after the pirate warriors in Moana, but let’s call this what it really is: Coconut Dole Whip! If you take away nothing else from this article, just know that if you’re at the Very Merry Christmas Party, you simply must eat this. Even as someone who is only mildly interested in coconut, the impossibly creamy soft serve sparked so much joy. It comes with pineapple juice and non-alcoholic blue curaçao below the ice cream, but honestly I’d rather just eat it straight up. Unfortunately, this is exclusive to the party, but perhaps we can create a demand to make this a year-round thing? Consider this my campaign announcement.
3. Orange Bird Christmas
Sunshine Tree Terrace, $5.99 (exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party)
Die-hard Disney fans recognize this bird as the official mascot of Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland, and now he takes edible form in the most delightful way. Once you crack through the orange shell, the spherical dessert is filled with orange-scented white chocolate mousse and orange curd. The whole thing rests atop a citrus-almond cake. It has a heavenly citrus scent and the center is very tangy—but when you eat everything together, the creaminess balances it out, creating a flavor reminiscent of an Orange Julius.
4. Christmas Cookie Sundae and Gingerbread Sundae
Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and Storybook Treats, respectively, $6.49 each
Okay, these two piled-up boats of soft serve were both so good, I couldn’t choose between them. I’m sorry! The Christmas Cookie Sundae is made with cookie butter ice cream, which is absolutely rich and delicious, while the gingerbread version delivers on its promise and packs a huge punch of warm flavors that are bolstered by real bits of gingerbread and ginger candy bits on top. I can’t pick a favorite—but if you like things a little spicy, try the gingerbread. Or both! You can always try both.
5. Jolly Tamales
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café, $11.99 (exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party)
Because we can not live on sugar and sprinkles alone, something savory was necessary to include—and this snack certainly fits the bill. That was a pun because they come from a restaurant called Pecos Bill. Not as fun when I explain it. Anyway, they’re good, particularly when completely smothered with all the fixings offered at the toppings bar. The dough-to-filling ratio was perfect, so they didn’t dry out like tamales so easily can when they have too much masa. Definitely a welcome break from all the sweets, even if the price is a little steep.
Other New and Noteworthy Treats
I’ve already listed my top five, but there are plenty more to choose from at the Magic Kingdom. If you have a serious sweet tooth, the Snowflake Brownie at Casey’s Corner comes with a rich layer of frosting that’s about an equal ratio to the brownie itself. Not being a frosting lover, it wasn’t totally my vibe—but hey, maybe it’s yours! The Holiday Mickey Cinnamon Roll from Main Street Bakery (a.k.a. Starbucks), on the other hand, was restrained in its sweetness. The flavor wasn’t quite powerful enough to stand up to some of the other, more exciting desserts in the park, but for an Instagram opportunity on Main Street, look no further.
Disney has a full list of all the exclusive treats at the Magic Kingdom this year on their blog, so don’t forget to peruse that before making your final decisions.
And if you’re in need of a nightcap after all the eating, head over to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa—you can check out that massive gingerbread house, and also pop in to the new Beauty and the Beast-themed Enchanted Rose for a seasonal cranberry old fashioned.

Pochito, Por Favor, Mascot!
Sandwich and carb lovers, gather round. When I heard that Pochito, the popular Chilean food stall from Ramsgate Markets had opened up their very own eatery in Mascot I put it on the top of my list to visit. There's a range of classic Chilean sandwiches and Chilean empanadas!
Pochito's mother and daughter team Patricia and Paulina Bustamante come from an extended family that all work in the food industry. Paulina says, "My parents and I emigrated to Australia in the late 80's. My mum grew up in Chilean restaurants, delis, and butcher shops. She is the aunty in the family you know when you come over to her house you will get a great feed with food constantly flowing out of the kitchen."
For those of you unfamiliar with Chilean cuisine Paulina explains, "Most people think Chilean food is Mexican food with tamales and burritos and our food is spicy. Our food is actually not spicy and we don't use much chile at all. People may not know Chilean food is all about great produce, we have some of the best seafood!".
Monica and I both share an unabiding love of a sandwich (don't get us started on Liz Lemon and the Sandwich Day episode of 30 Rock) so I knew exactly who to visit Pochito with.
"The sandwich in Chile is part of the nation and part of the culture. If you ever go to Santiago there is a sandwich shop (Sangucheria) along most of the streets. Chileans love their bread, we have several different sorts of bread which we will always have on the table for breakfast, lunch, dinner and 'once' afternoon tea. Sandwiches are the combination of what we love and enjoy, pork/steak, avocado, mayonnaise (a key ingredient in any sandwich and in any Chilean household)," says Paulina.
When I pull up and walk inside I all the patrons appear to be South American which is a good sign (Monica and I are the only non South Americans). It's a small cafe with a few outdoor tables and some indoor share and single tables and ordering is done at the counter.
Pochito means a moment of post prandial bliss where body and mind are in a happy-drowsy state after a satisfying meal. And yes carbs on a cold and windy winter's day help enormously in that regard.
Mote con Huesillo $8
Monica leaves it up to me to order because we share food brains-we both want to eat the same things. We share a Mote con Huesillo drink, one of the drinks I tried and loved in Chile. It's a peach drink scented with cinnamon with barley at the bottom and a whole sun dried poached peach in it. It's not overly sweet which I like and it's fruity. I think this would be delicious both hot and cold-hot would be a little mulled wine-ish.
Traditional beef pino emapanada $6
We've basically ordered one of almost everything on the menu. We start with the empanadas (and a warning: they do sell out quickly because they are popular). The most popular is the beef empanada with a baked pastry and filled with saucy spiced beef mince, onion, olive and egg. It's warming and delicious especially the filling.
Four cheese empanada $5
I have to say I love deep fried empanadas a bit more than the baked one because hello deep fried! These are made using a different pastry and we try the four cheese one (cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan and feta), all gooey deliciousness especially when you add a little hot sauce to it for a bit of kick.
Garlic chilli prawn and cheese empanada $7
The prawn and cheese fried empanada has some garlic and chilli in it as well as tasty, chopped prawn mixture. Next time I'll ask for a bit of pebre (coriander, tomato, onion and garlic salsa) on the side too.
Lomito $12
If the beef empanada is the classic empanada, the lomito is the classic sandwich. So what makes a good lomito? "A good lomito starts with the pork. The pork has to be full of flavour, tender and juicy. There's nothing worst then biting into a dry lomito and having to add condiments like mustard," says Paulina. Indeed, their lomito has the softest melt in the mouth oven roasted pork, smashed avocado, tomato, mayonnaise and pebre on a milk bun it is a perfect mix of meat, salad and bread.
Completo Original $13
There are two completo hot dogs, the original one and an Italian version and we went for the original. The original has a juicy smoked pork frankfurt sausage with sauerkraut, smashed avocado, tomato and mayonnaise. We adore this combination as the sauerkraut and avocado gives the rich sausage a necessary lightness and tang. Paulina explains, "Avocado is life in Chile, and we put it on everything even before the hipsters knew about smashed avo on toast. Avocado is used on most of our sandwiches and even our national hotdog 'El completo'".
Choripan $8
The choripan is a simple but delicious hot dog filled with a grilled South American chorizo and pebre on a long roll. It's tasty but I think out of the three sandwiches we really loved the lomito and the complete original the best because of the salad component.
Barros Jarpa $8
"What do you think that is?" Monica says eyeing the sandwich the woman next to us is eating. After a quick discussion ("Should we get it?" "Yes, we'll take leftovers home to the boys") we head back to the counter to order it along with another sandwich. The soft, warm milk bun is filled with ham off the bone and melted cheese. It's simple but done well and although we've eaten a lot we eagerly finish our quarter portions.
Chemilico $10
We were just going to have a bite of this. And that Dear Reader is how we ended up convincing ourselves to order the Chemilico too. It's lean rump minute steak, plenty of grilled onion, a free range fried egg on a soft milk bun. The beef is very tender and this is such a tasty breakfast sandwich with a runny yolked egg that spurts out the yolk. "That's very suggestive!" I say.
Sopapilla $2 and Sopaipilla Pasada $5
I have so many memories of eating sopapillas aka pumpkin fritters. There's a salty version as well as a sweet version in a citrus sauce. I like both because they remind me of my travels to Chile. The dessert version isn't overly sweet or citrusy but balanced quite nicely.
Calzone rotos $2 and Alfajore $4
It's time for house made sweets and there are two on the counter, a calzone rotos, a biscuit dough that is deep fried with lemon zest. The name means "broken undies" and I guess they are twisted undies. I like the alfajore shortbread sandwich filled with dulce de leche in the centre. It's perfect with a cup of tea.
Tres leches cake $8
The tres leches or three milks cake is a sweet, milk soaked sponge. Although South American sweets can be very sweet, I liked that this wasn't overly sweet. There is a layer of fluffy coconut cream on top, berries and edible flowers.
Before we know it, it's 3pm and it's time for them to close. But then people keep streaming in wanting empanadas and food and they accommodate them. We can see why they got so busy that they didn't have time to go back to the markets.
So tell me Dear Reader, Have you ever tried Chilean food? Do you ever see something that someone else is eating and order it? Are you a sandwich lover?
This meal was independently paid for.

The Orange Bird Funko Pop! arrives on September 8th at Walt Disney World
Thinking of grabbing something sunny from Walt Disney World? The Orange Bird Funko Pop! is the answer.
Back in 1970, a deal was struck between the Florida Citrus Commission and the Walt Disney Company for a character to be created that would become the mascot for the Citrus Commission, and in turn, they would sponsor an attraction at the soon to be opening Magic Kingdom park. The character that was created was "The Orange Bird" and soon after you were able to find merchandise, a meet and greet character, an infection song written by the Sherman Brothers and sung by Anita Bryant and even a delicious treat called the Citrus Swirl available at the Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland.
At some point in the mid 80's the little orange bird was gone, and somewhat forgotten. But in recent years there's been a resurgence of the little guy. Tokyo Disneyland discovered him in the early 2000's and a new wave of merchandise flooded the shelves both internationally and domestically. It was only a matter of time before Funko took notice, and a few months back an image leaked on reddit showing off a prototype.
This was the only image we had to speculate on, and it was all we had heard of this mysterious vinyl images and a release date started surfacing online earlier today. The Disney Parks Exclusive Pop! vinyl toy is expected to drop on Friday, September 8th and will only be available at Walt Disney World in two locations.
Look for this little guy at one of the following locations;
Pin Traders at Disney Springs
Pirate's Bazaar at the Magic Kingdom
Assuming that the Orange Bird is the WDW equivalent to Disneyland's Abominable Snowman Funko Pop, you can read about it HERE, this collectible might only be available at the resort. No official word has been given if it will be available for purchase on the Shop Disney Parks app.
With the huge fan base that follows Funko, along with the vintage Disney community who eat up all things Orange Bird - myself included, plan on a complete sell out. Given the track record of Disney Park Exclusive funko Pops! like Indiana Jones, The Matterhorn's Abominable Snowman & Jolly Roger from Pirates of the Caribbean.. chances are he's also a closed edition and once they sell out, he'll be vaulted. If any updates escape the sunshine tree, I'll be passing those along to all of you.

New Montréal restaurants to visit
It may seem like it’s hard to keep up with Montréal’s ever growing restaurant scene but this roundup of new spots to visit will help you decide which ones to visit first.
Downtown:
Tiradito – 1076 Rue De Bleury
Chef Marcel Larrea is at the helm of this new restaurant specializing in Nikkei, the Peruvian Japanese fusion cuisine that’s popular in Peru. No need to ask for a seat at the bar since the entire restaurant is basically a bar behind which chefs and bartenders work their magic. Start with a Pisco Sour, Peru’s most famous cocktail, and don’t skip on the ceviche, the chaufa or the butifarra.

Southwest:
Libertine Bakehouse – 806 Atwater Avenue
Patrice Pâtissier alumn Nick Kemball has branched out on his own with Libertine Bakehouse, a new pastry shop with an edge. Libertine’s logo is a stylized mash-up of a skull head and a cupcake and an aqua green skeleton is the mascot of the cute boutique. The pastries on display change often but you’ll be able to taste such delights as a the brioche feuilletée, the apple and lingonberry tart, the miso Paris-Brest or the pistachio cake with citrus, sour cream and olive oil.

Henden Bar – 1800 Rue Notre-Dame West
A new underground bar has recently opened its doors in St Henri. Located in the basement of Le Birdbar, Henden comes to us from the same owner and restaurateur Kimberly Lallouz. The bar has a plush, seventies look that’s a cross between a Playboy mansion and a Maroccan living room complete with crushed orange velvet couch and black and gold accents. Henden serves a reduced version of Birdbar’s menu and a complete bar.

Little Italy / Villeray:
Marconi – 45 Avenue Mozart West
Marconi was the most anticipated restaurant opening of the past few months. Former Au Pied de Cochon chef Mehdi Brunet-Benkritly is back in Montréal after a 5-year stint in New York City. The Zébulon Perron-designed restaurant has conserved some of the old space’s elements giving the dining room a laid back vintage look. The food at Marconi is market driven and includes snacks, small plates and more substantial mains. Don’t skip dessert!

Elda Bistro – 5206 Boulevard Saint Laurent
This new bistro from Mile-Ex chef owner Gregory Paul and co-owner Gabriel Rizzotti has recently opened its doors on the Main. In a timeless décor that’s reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, Elda serves some Mile Ex classics for lunch and dinner such as the cod accras or the delicious beef tartare as well as other dishes created by chef Valentin Wajda. The wines are exclusively by private import company Beau-vin which belongs to Rizzotti’s father and which allows him to offer wine at a great price.

Maneki Comptoir Asiat’ – 3121 Rue Hochelaga
A new Asian restaurant has opened its doors in Hochelaga. Unpretentious, fun and casual, Maneki’s mission is to make good simple and enjoyable food in a very cool décor with a unique brand identity. Maneki doesn’t declare itself as one particular Asian cuisine but rather all of them. They serve Asian classics favourites from all cuisines and from the looks of it, are managing to do right by all.

Existing restaurants, new brunches:
Brunch at Café Melbourne – 4615 Boulevard Saint Laurent
This Mile End café inspired by Australia’s café culture has recently partnered up with chef Saad Bahbahani to serve a creative brunch that’s become the talk of the town. The dishes are named after Australian celebrities and we highly recommend the Elle MacPherson or the Nicole Kidman.
Brunch is served! Salmon tataki served with poached egg, tzatziki, guacamole, tobiko & toasted bread / tataki de saumon servi avec oeuf poché, tzatziki, guacamole, tobiko & pain grillé.
