You probably answered this already, but what did you think of the speech that rose gave to Jeremy?

OK I'll answer this in two parts and only because there isn't anything in the master list about this specifically but my answer is just going to be me reposting things from other posts of mine. The first part is going to reference part of a post I did about why I didn't ship Rose and Damon but it relates to her speech about Jeremy:

1.

I didn’t like Rose and Damon. Rose and Damon don’t have a real relationship, she’s put on the show specifically to make Damon look better and so he could have at least one person rooting for him

The show had to bring in another character because Damon already brutalized everyone else: he snapped Jeremy’s neck, he tried to kill Bonnie, he raped and abused Caroline and tried to kill her twice, he turned and was responsible for Vicki’s death etc., like he did so much shit to the regular group that they created Rose specifically to tell Elena that he isn’t that bad and to psychoanalyze him for her

so I don't take Rose seriously as a character because she's transparent and therefore I don't take her speech seriously.

2.

Put up or shut up. My biggest issue with Delena is that they don't earn their dialogue, they don't earn their reputation, they don't earn anything except my exasperation. Because WHERE do I SEE this?

How Stefan challenges Elena vs. how Damon "challenges" Elena

Damon does not challenge Elena, anon, all he ever did was push her to admit she cared about him when she wouldn’t say it and then you guys called that challenging her when it was just Damon ignoring boundaries.

This is the issue with you DErs, you think challenging someone means constantly fighting with them, showing some form of contention, or steamrolling them with your opinions, that’s not what that is.

Stefan challenges Elena continuously. He challenges her to think beyond her emotions and about the bigger picture

or to explore her emotions and see where they lead,

he challenges her to be vulnerable and to keep fighting,

to embrace life even when it fucking sucks

and that pushes her to grow and mature and develop

and she does the same thing for him.

when it comes to elena and not listening to her choices, it doesn’t actually challenge her, it doesn’t actually get her to think differently, this

doesn’t actually change her behaviour, she just digs her heels into her original sentiment.

this:

causes her to undagger elijah and she tells Damon she did this specifically because he wouldn’t listen to her

and it also means in season 3, which according to you, is the first time she’s ever strong, she circumvents damon instead of letting him in on the plan

Elena Gilbert is just false and the worst character. She said nice things to Damon (about him) and spoke badly about him behind his back -6x02-. I didn't like it. I understand who Damon is but she wasn;t honest with him -8x16-.

I love Elena. That must be obvious by now. She's my favorite character, though I too often dislike her characterization post-Stefan - I say this as a Delena shipper. But I still think she's warm and nice and so brave.

When did she talk about Damon behind his back? She lost her memories of Damon in season 6 - she forgot every good thing he'd ever done and was left with only his serial killer side. Of course she would speak ill of him. And criticizing Damon doesn't mean she's fake. She did it to his face all the time. You can compliment someone and acknowledge their flaws. In fact, you are supposed to do both. No one loved Damon more than Elena and Stefan, but they were also very critical of him and frequently vented their frustrations about Damon to other people. Yet that doesn't make them fake in the slightest. You can voice a negative opinion of someone to other people... It's easier to do that than to potentially hurt someone you love.

I don't remember the last episode of TVD so I can't comment on it, but Elena is not at all false. She's honest and genuine. She rarely lies and her heart is pure. She did bad things, but she really cares for people.

Stelena 3x14 dance and delena 1x19 dance are different on so many levels. Even the vibes are different. With the delena dance we know she just settled for damon, when she actually was anticipating for stefan. So it looked like a normal dance, no firework, her eyes doesn't do much. The stelena dance, they were both longing to be together, so when they collided, sparks flew and their eyes tell everything.

Well the 1x19 dance is supposed to be Elena feels a spark when she’s dancing with Damon, that’s why they return to that dance so many times in the later seasons and it’s why in 6x02 she says, “it’s the first time I felt it, how sexy he was” and the 3x14 dance, Elena wasn’t expecting to dance with Stefan that night, in 3x12 she tells him she kissed Damon, in 3x13 she asks him if he killed the medical examiner, things are weird, he’s pretending not to care about her, they collide and sparks. So both dances are supposed to show sparks, but Dobsley has chemistry and the more they dance in 3x14, the more the context of their love, their previous dances, their longing, their angst etc. comes into play.

“Caroline calling out Elena was always played as if “Caroline doesn’t know Damon like Elena does” for DE fans. Caroline being Anti-Damon in S4 is like Elena being Anti-Damon in S1, S2 and S3. Elena already called Damon a monster 6x02, a self-proclaimed serial killer 5x02, an ass 1x13, and a self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities 1x17. She also said Damon doesn’t have self-control to be teaching Stefan about it in 3x17. If Elena wasn’t sired she would agree with Caroline

That’s the narrative the writers forced, that Elena believed Damon was a monster then “got to know the real him” then fell in love with him. And Caroline did eventually cheer on Delena and Damon on the show (I’ve seen gifsets from s7&8 never seen the actual seasons).

Personally I agree with you on everything you said, but that’s not what the show was trying to promote, if they did try to portray DE as what it really was, it wouldn’t have been endgame.

alright well, my personal favorite “moment” of theirs ever is “i wanted it to be real” from 1x14. that’s been my otp tag on my personal for like 2 years now honestly

but aside from that, i have favorite quotes/episodes/scenes/everything so i could go on forever, but i’ll try and keep it short

in terms of everything tho, the following are some of my ULTIMATE favorites. favorites might get too long lol:
