one of my favourite relationships in this game is the one between anton and deivid, especially with the prologue combination of either middle-class/rich anton whose own father was abusive or absent and then going on to work with deivid in the foreign ministry. the idea of deivid stepping up as anton’s mentor and a healthy paternal figure for him is so sweet. plus the fact that whatever path you take, deivid is proud he got to see his student achieve so much. i just adore deivid so much and him being anton’s spiritual dad is soooo,,,, i love them

also, the thought of the coup ending, with deivid noticing the signs and having to watch the exact same thing that happened to his father now happen to the person he views as a son. and once again being utterly powerless to stop it. oh man

And the second crack scenario i made is Anton Rayne who grow up middle class again have both somewhat two father figures. On the name of former teacher and mentor Deivid Wisci and Colonel Tarquin Soll. The logical reason and lore behind this? I dunno it's crack. Basically almost all assembly respect anton. Because on the Old Guard and USP point of view. He's the next successor to glorious Tarquin Soll. While the PFJP and Oligarchs respect him because he was a student of Deivid Wisci and a possibly support of privatization on Sordland. While the NFP and independents eyeing him with muted suspicion. Since this is crack everytime Tarquin Soll and Deivid Wisci intentionally or unintentionally meet in the Assembly. They both attack each other passive aggressively with words. Meanwhile outside the assembly the media and other country leaders ask silently on Anton Rayne, Jeez Anton how come you got two father figures in your life? He's basically the headlines of gossip magazine. Like Chancellor Hegel and Maleynev along gossiping about it like highschool girls. Same with the leader of Lespia and Arcasia.

ok, from crying from your last AU to absolutely CACKLING here lmaooo. i'm not sure how soll would end up as a father figure to anton (not that logic needs to be applied to crack, of course), but i can imagine a universe where whatever mentorship he offers anton during his early years in the USP growns very strong. and lmao, not his two father figures giving each other the side-eye hfjdfhdkhkj.

would make for a pretty interesting run, no doubt about it!

@act-iv asked me to elaborate on this and it got too long for a reply, so here we go!

So I'm just tired of arguing with people on reddit (mostly with NFP flairs) acting like the fan theory about Lucian being in the Black Battalion is canon. There's literally nothing in the game to suggest it, not even the slightest hint — all he says is that he worked in the intelligence service in the last few years of the old kingdom and he did morally questionable things. (assassinations, maybe?) There's nothing about what happened after the founding of the Republic — just that Lucian completely disappeared from the public record until 1930.

My personal headcanon is that he worked for Wisci's government in a similar intelligence capacity (hopefully not killing people at that point), and went underground following the coup and through the civil war. There's not any real evidence for that either, but the one time he speaks about the old king, he mentions that Heron Walt and Wisci tried to talk sense into him but he was too isolated — not exactly something a devoted monarchist would say. (I can't remember the exact meeting — I know Deivid was there.)

Being a former Luderin supporter just doesn't make sense for his character — yes, he's not big on press freedom when it comes down to it and can have authoritarian tendencies, but on a reform run he's a pretty solid moderate reformist. And he never shows any nationalist tendencies, or sympathy to the NFP. He's generally pro-Bludish rights, against military expansion, and in favor of making alliances — he's usually pretty closely aligned with Deivid Wisci. It just doesn't make any sense to me — if the devs wanted players to think he supported Luderin, you'd think they'd put *something* in the game to hint at it. Hopefully we get some definite backstory with the Conformist!

In lieu of arguing with people on Reddit, I am just going to post here with no additional explanation or context that Lucian Galade was not part of the Black Battalion and did not work for Luderin. Okay, now I feel better
