a few words...

sigh…I think it needs to be clarified that everyone who watches degrassi watches for a different reason. over the past week, I have seen some of my posts being screenshot and mocked on twitter by a group of girls on here who I will refrain from mentioning who also have no idea who I am and I have seen one of those girls post on tumblr that hetero females who support triles, were likely also the ones who referred to her as a “dyke” in highschool. so…I completely understand if you relate to miles and adore him more than any other character on the show. I am fully aware that tristan is biphobic towards miles and no amount of insecurity justifies it and it needs to be fixed as soon as possible. what I don’t understand, is mocking, belittling or assuming that everyone who likes a character that you don’t for whatever reason, is a bad person or that assuming that liking a character is equivalent to supporting everything they do or say, on a show like degrassi. 

there are parts of tristan that I like and there are parts of tristan that I don’t like. there are parts of tristan that I can relate to and there are parts of tristan that I would never relate to. I have struggled with body issues like tristan did. I still feel that insecurity of wanting to be loved and feeling like it was pointless to even try to find someone to like me for me. I was and still am partially the hopeless romantic that tristan is. there are plenty of parts of myself that I share with him and I won’t be shamed for liking those parts of him because those are parts of who make me, me. regarding miles, I love miles. I don’t relate to him very much but he is an amazing character. he is a troubled soul and he has grown into someone with amazing potential. of course this is the first time that I have revealed anything this personal on here, but I don’t think it is unfair to want to be respected by others even if I didn’t. it is not my intention to place my struggles/insecurities above yours. 

as I mentioned before, everyone has their valid reasons to like/care for this show and these characters. I ask to be respected and not harassed for having an opinion or feeling that you may not agree with. I ask that we take into consideration everyone on here. I apologize if me liking triles, is indicative of disrespect towards you because it was not my intention, especially if it is taken personally. however, I do feel hurt by what those girls did and they know who they are. I find it very ironic that they are being malicious when they have had their share of being ridiculed in the past. it makes me sad that you were taunted and treated poorly over your sexuality, however it does not justify you treating me poorly at all because I was not that person who did that to you and I wouldn’t be that person, despite what you think. I am very much tired, as you are. I am just as much annoyed as you are. I am just as pissed off as you are. I don’t know what else to add to this other than that I want the judgement to stop. I don’t want to feel like I am a bad person over liking a character that I, at times, relate to.

Lola and Miles's height difference is killing me

meet RASHA ZUABI, the SIXTEEN year old junior at degrassi. she’s a member of THE OUTCASTS, and sometimes gets mistaken for DALIA YEGAVIAN.

about RASHA:

When Rasha first came to Degrassi, she had no interest in being part of the groups. It was thanks to Imogen, however, that she realized the outcasts were like one big family. It didn’t take much convincing for Rasha to announce that she would join the outcasts.

Wanting to make a name for herself, Rasha not only joined drama club, but Degrassi TV. She has interest in covering the story behind Tristan and Fiona battling to have their plays be approved by Simpson. On top of that, Rasha is constantly looking for the next story to tell. She loves getting in front of the camera and speaking her mind.

Unfortunately due to her honest approach, Rasha has made enemies with several legacies in the process. They feel that she has somewhat of a skewed and biased opinion. Goldi in particular is so convinced that she can change Rasha’s mind, that it’s one of the only things she talks about when the two are together.

connections:

imogen moreno- crush: Rasha is one of the few people who have managed to make Imogen smile since the crash. The two girls worked together in drama club, and Imogen fell for her instantly. They spent every day after school together, share snacks and sing musicals backstage. Rasha has a mutual crush on Imogen, but both girls are oblivious that the other has any feelings.

goldi nahir- housemate/secret friend: Goldi and Rasha live together, since Goldi’s parents agreed to welcome in Syrian refugees. Unfortunately for Rasha, Goldi seems to have an agenda. She is convinced she can get Rasha to ditch the outcasts and join the legacies. Rasha knows that Goldi has good intentions, but she is growing tired of Goldi trying to convince her. Neither girl have told others they live together, due to their different social groups.

jack jones- enemies: Rasha isn’t the type to like having enemies, but things with Jack have been sour since day one. Rasha initially flirted with Jack, but Jack quickly brushed the other girl off, due to seeing her talk badly about some of her friends on Degrassi TV. When Rasha asked what was wrong, Jack made a scene in the hallway, claiming that Rasha was a liar. They stopped being friends immediately and fight every time they come in contact.

fiona coyne- ex fling: When Fiona first came to the outcasts, she hooked up with Rasha. The two shared several kisses, before Rasha ended things. Fiona wanted to keep their hook up a secret, still dealing with her new reputation, but Rasha wasn’t willing to oblige. Tensions are now high between the two.
