Master the art of a radiant flush with Sandra’s effortless blush application in three intensities, featuring our ANGULAR BRUSH 5. (@sandra.mendes279)
Starting with three taps, Sandra achieves a bold, full-coverage flush. With two taps, she creates a softer, buildable warmth. Finally, with just one tap, she demonstrates how our bristles pick up the perfect amount of pigment for a naturally diffused glow.
Designed for seamless blending, the ANGULAR BRUSH 5 effortlessly delivers smooth, even color payoff. One tap is truly all you need for the perfect touch of blush. (Reposted: @sandra.mendes279)

12 (my lucky number) days into my #tattooedbrow journey with @kanesha.definingbeauty at @defining_beauty. I truly could not be happier with the shape, shade and heal. I’m even more pleased because I was secretly hoping my scar would not take pigment - blood sweat & tears went into earning that scar on my 21st birthday in Las Vegas. High five to my mom and big sister for keeping me alive that weekend - they had their work cut out for them. #tattooedwomen #tattooedbrows #permanentmakeup #definingbeauty #goldlikemysoul https://www.instagram.com/p/BoublhHAn6f/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1iybm05fihhpq

Daily Meditation -- January 11th
"It does make a difference what you call things." -- Kate Douglas Wiggin
Most of us think of dandelions as weeds. We buy special tools and poisons when they crop up and complain about them as surely as we welcome the Spring that brings them.
Yet is there anything more lovely than a sea of yellow dandelions by the side of the road in June? Or as remarkable in transformation as the filaments of the mature dandelion blowing on the wind?
Sometimes we let someone else define for us what are weeds and what are flowers. We don't have to. Much of the beauty of the world is that we ourselves decide what is beautiful according to our own feelings. How lucky we are that, when we choose to, we can open our eyes and see!
**Can I see the beauty in those around me right now?**

New brows, who dis? (Lazy eye and all) 😉 Today, @kanesha.definingbeauty and i did a thing - Or rather, i laid there while she tattooed my face 😜 I love the shape i was given when i had my brows #microbladed a ways back and it’s about that time for a touch-up (ever 1-2 years). This time, i decided to try out an #ombré style with a machine rather than individual hairs with a hand tool. I love them already and can’t wait to see how they heal out! @defining_beauty #definingbeauty #permanentmakeup #doesthiscountasafacetattoo #surewhynot #dreadbun #tattooedwomen (at Defining Beauty Permanent Cosmetics) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoQXxgbgl3P/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1kx7kxw8y9xye

In ancient Greece, the household comprised an extended family of three generations, slaves and animals. The wife was at the centre of this network of familial relations and her authority extended across all aspects of domestic management. Men, by contrast, spent most of their lives outdoors, either securing the raw materials essential for the family’s survival – grain for bread and fleeces for wives to process into textiles – or away on military and civic duties. Religious festivals were the only aspect of public life in which women could participate. They held office as priestesses and acted as intermediaries between the worlds of gods and men.
Tumblr media
Working wool was appropriate work for respectable women, for whom family weddings, funerals and religious festivals provided the opportunity for dressing up and going out. This is a remarkably beautiful image of a domestic chore. The woman is presented as the model of wifely virtue, upright and busy in the home, and draped demurely in her own fine creation.
Tumblr media
Fountain houses were places where women could socialise as they fetched water for the home. The Greeks thought spring water the gift of nymphs, and fountain houses or nymphaea were the focus of their worship. Here, women are decorating an elaborate nymphaeum for a festival. Water pours into jars from zoomorphic spouts in the form of lions’ heads and horse riders, as the women reach up to place wreaths on the spouts.

Heavily armed infantry soldiers were the backbone of the army. Armour formed an outer body of protective metal, beaten into the shape of the part it protects, while the helmet was both protective and intimidating due to its mask-like qualities. Each of these greaves, which protected the shins and knees, is decorated with an image of a Gorgon. This mythical female monster turned anyone who looked at her to stone, and her image was believed to have protective power.
Tumblr media
Scenes of departing warriors were very common on Athenian ceramic vessels. The young warrior here stands in the centre, with his helmet tilted back. Facing him is a bearded archer in oriental dress, perhaps a mercenary. On the right a balding, bearded man looks down with furrowed brow. He must be the departing warrior’s father. A large dog cringes at the warrior’s feet. All these participants increase the pathos of the moment.
You can see these objects in our exhibition Defining beauty: the body in ancient Greek art (26 March – 5 July 2015).
