Ever since I saw the Nintendo Direct Yesterday, like cool games like Mario and Luigi coming back for their next RPG game, and a Zelda game where you know play the opposite character, Zelda, a bit like Wand of Gamelon, but different. And it's nice to see a few Classic games on the Nintendo 64 and GBA, and Switch Sports includes Basketball which I bet my brother would be excited to see. Super Mario Party is getting a Sequel about a Jamboree which I bet can be fun, and Donkey Kong Country Returns will be on the Switch, like Tropical Freeze, can't wait for that! And we'll all look into others too.

Anyways onto the pic, I drew Shadow, Lisa, Luna and Deev @lunakittyfox and @deevdarabbit, the two are watching what Shadow and Lisa are doing and playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Since I do have the game on my IPad, and I know that the game was used for Apple consoles only like Mac, IPhone and iPad, but when I saw the direct yesterday, I was so excited that the game will be ported to other consoles like Switch, PlayStation and PC. And what the four are doing is since Lisa and Luna know Sanrio stuff a lot besides Shadow and Tory, they thought of how fun Island Adventure will be, like right now, Lisa likes the island settings, Shadow likes how the settings and music would put him at ease, and Luna thought both would be fun and imagine the four of them can all go on an Island Adventure, and Deev had an idea, he thought of why not we bring our friends on an Island Adventure and enjoy a vacation together. And the three think, that's a good idea! Maybe it can be like friends and family vacation. They can go for a swim, do random activities or enjoy the view and other stuff. But with Hello Kitty Island Adventure, I always kept thinking about that gag they used in South Park, even when people were talking about World of Warcraft, which that game is my dad's favorite. And also if Hello Kitty Island Adventure is coming to other consoles next year, maybe I can buy two copies of the Switch Version, like I got one and a copy for my sister, or I can get the computer version myself and get the Switch version for my sister for either her birthday or for Christmas.

I played Excitebike too. I have played the NES Version a lot. I also played the Nintendo 64 one too, but it was tricky to get used to the controls and the gameplay. And this can be just like when Rita was also competing in the Motocross tournament while she was pregnant. Either before or after.

Yeah maybe if there's another Nintendo Direct, I bet we can both voice chat together if we want to. Because when I watched Nintendo Direct a few days ago, I couldn't tell if I would watch it alone, or watch it with some YouTubers or watch it by voice chatting with friends. And also I understand how you feel when Rare was just a subsidiary by Microsoft, it's a bit like how Atlus and Rovio are both subsidiaries to Sega. Because even with so many companies selling franchises to their companies, like Angry Birds, Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei Persona, and when we find out who owns it, sure enough, they call around saying that Sega owns them. Much like with Bayonetta, it used to be made by Sega, they call around saying Nintendo owns it even though Platinum Games is the ones that own the series despite Nintendo publishing the game. So Bayonetta was counted as a Somewhat known Title, which is what Nintendo makes besides games based on their properties like Mario, Animal Crossing and Zelda. And back to Rare, what's also bizarre is that not only Microsoft had Rare as the developers, but I just heard that they made Sea of Thieves on a different system like the PlayStation 5. And when I just watched the Direct, I heard Horizons, a PlayStation title is gonna be on the Switch, but in Lego style. It was kinda confusing that so many of their titles owned by their own companies are now being shown on all the different systems. Because with Xbox Titles, they're usually only for both Xbox and PC, and I also heard when for classic Nintendo 64 titles, I know they just put in some M Rated titles like Perfect Dark and Turok, and what's confusing is why not buy the remastered version of Turok on the eShop? I talked about it with Deev on Discord voice chat last night and he said it was a stupid idea. Because we can just buy the remastered version because it was better and we can also buy their sequels too. Even when we can get Turok on different systems like PlayStation, Xbox or PC. And it would be confusing if they brought more M Rated Titles to Nintendo 64 like Conker's Bad Fur Day, Resident Evil 2, and Mortal Kombat 4. And ever since I got the Rare Replays for our A-Pal for his birthday, I know he's trying some of the Rareware titles when I last check on what he's up to.

Normally I've only played the original Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, and i haven't played 3 Corruptions and neither has Shadow. Plus I know the Multiplayer of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes is good since Shadow, Speedy and I played it together as well as for Caleb.

Day 11 - Project Setup and Naninovel

So, as my post said before, I'm back! With new energy, took a long break during the Covid era and learned a lot. This time, I'll be attempting to use Naninovel to throw in a script we've been working on (something also from all that time ago). It's a project related to companion, but with a much smaller scope! The first thing I did, was clean up my version control. It's been a while, and my PC has not been upgraded all this time, so things are a little rocky. Version control is extra important to me, for both personal work and in my day job.

I talked about version control briefly, all the while back in 2020.

Gitignore file

Another important thing, I forgot about was my gitignore file. Github desktop has a limit of 100mb files, unless you're using Git LFS. Other than that, your project has a lot of files that are unnecessary to share with others. Nobody needs to redownload all your unity settings! There's a handy .gitignore file available on github, and on the unity site. This should cut bloat. My repository changes went from 26k+ to about 1,000 when after adding a .gitignore file to my project. Webhooks Once I made my project, I set up webhooks to our private discord channel and pushed it to see if things were all OK there. Back in Unity, I downloaded and installed the naninovel package from the Package manager.

Exciting! Immediately, I was able to create a naninovel script asset, to get started on testing our small idea.

I've chosen to do my script writing in VScode. The first thing I wanted to know how to do in Naninovel was to have 'comments statements'. Sections of your code that are ignored by the engine, and thus 'commented out'. Usually, comments are a #. A format I use in my writing often.

However, in Naninovel, comments are represented by " ; " and "#" are used for jump labels. In my first test/write-through, this will be especially useful for me to comment out parts of code and directions I want to add later or give myself direction.

The other thing I wanted to set up, was the VSCode extension to make my life a little easier, but apparently, I already had it installed! The Naninovel DEev, Elringus, has a good tutorial on this.

That's about as far as I got in my exciting journey. The rest of the time, it was fairly easy to implement character/actor records, and start adding dialogue. I anticipate what will be tricky is designing UI for multiple sizes in Unity, rather than the more visual novel side of things.

He might've voted for deprogramming, but - like Tracer and Kestrel - he'd also argued that Widowmaker should at least have a voice in it.

"They've closed ranks, at least 'till they see what happens. I was afraid of that." Emily put her hand on Lena's shoulder, gently. "I'm sorry. But I still think he'll come 'round eventually."

"I gotta hope so."

The three of them had left the Oregon desert safehouse after a round of showers, the chance to enjoy some food outside of a moving vehicle, and a day of proper sleep. Widowmaker had even complimented their choice of mattresses, proving again that the spider had some interest in creature comforts.

There'd been no Interpol notice - or anything similar - about any of them yet, the key word being "yet." Nothing on Lena "Tracer" Oxton, or Emily "Kestrel" Oxton, or even anything new about Amélie "Widowmaker" Lacroix, or any combination thereof. Emily's current consulting contract with BAE hadn't even been voided; she still had access to their network. But the plan was to keep moving anyway, until they felt a little more comfortable about what Lena hoped, desperately, was an olive branch from their old team.

Lena dropped her way back through several anonymous VPNs and re-routers, and shut down the encrypted chat client. Incheon, she thought. Port city, easy to get to... it could work.

"Hey, Kes, Wids - y'want t'go out for Korean next week?"

Widowmaker looked across the table where she had just been shutting down her own communications array, reaching out to various specialised, no-questions-asked chemical synthesis specialists. "...you like Korean food?"

"I can take it or leave it, luv. But Hana Song sure does."

Kestrel looked over at her wife with a curious look. "...oh, really?"

Tracer shrugged at her wife. "Maybe."

"Brilliant. We could use some allies. And while you've been doing that - I've got your old contacts alerted that we're back in business, as freelancers. We'll need the money."

Widowmaker threw Kestrel a look of caution. "You aren't telling them about my particular skillset, I presume."

"Course not," she said, taking the blue woman's hand and squeezing it. "Not 'till you want in. Until then - well. I think of you as our ace in the hole."

The blue assassin wasn't entirely sure what to think of that, but she did think she found it satisfactory, and, possibly, just the tiniest bit pleasing.

"That," she said, with the hint of a spidery smile...

Winston looked up from his console, where he had been re-reading Lena's messages, wanting so much to reply, but holding off until they knew where Tracer and Kestrel might be headed.
