3x18: A Turning Point for Deckerstar
In my opinion; ‘The Last Heartbreak’ was great. There was humor, drama, & I shed my fair share of tears by the end. It was seamless, everything flowed together perfectly; even with the 1950’s flashbacks. It gave me & a handful of others some serious Season 2 vibes. This might even go down as one of my favorite episodes of Lucifer. Not of all time of course; that spot is reserved for 1x09. Definitely in my top 5 though; but I digress. Above all, TLH laid the groundwork for what is sure to be some good/great episodes leading into the finale.
But as is to be expected, not everyone was satisfied. Many were shocked, frustrated, confused, angry, & maybe even heartbroken😉 by the events that occurred. Now I’m not saying I didn’t feel this way too, cause I’m still reeling from some of it. -wraps Trixie in a snuggy & gives her the biggest chocolate cake imaginable;. My precious alien loving baby.💖💕
Tumblr media
What I’ll be focusing on in this post is the pieces that led Lucifer & Chloe to make the decisions they made by the end of TLH. We have a lot of ground to cover, so get a snack ready cause here we go!
There’s an old saying that goes… “Can’t see the forest for the trees.” For those of you new to this phrase here’s a run down: When you are too close to a situation or “the tree’s” (3x18). You need to step back and get perspective. When you do you’ll notice there was a whole “forest” (S3) you couldn’t see before because you were focusing on “the trees”.
It’s very easy to focus on a singular moment(s) in a tv show, book, or movie. Whether it be negative or positive; out of anger, frustration, or joy. And when that happens, we fail to see the full story that is being pieced together for us. Not to say those pieces aren’t important, because they are. But just focusing on a moment that made you frustrated; “Ughhh why didn’t Lucifer stay with Chloe! REALLY?! A BRIDAL SHOWER IS MORE IMPORTANT! YOU DESERVE TO BE HURT!” isn’t very productive in my book. There’s a reason Lucifer turned down Chloe’s offer of coffee, & it’s not because he wanted to hangout w/ a bunch of inebriated bridesmaids. (Let’s put a pin in that for later)
Tumblr media
Now to clarify… I won’t be going over ALL of S3 in the lead up to TLH cause that’ll take wayyyy to long. I’ll just be shining a light on a few moments in TLH that I felt were given too harsh a criticism. And more specifically a certain devil that has a tendency to be misread… a lot.
The most important element introduced in TLH is ‘frame of mind’. Each character (Lucifer/Chloe/Marcus/Maze/Amenadiel/etc.) is in a different head space throughout most of the episode. And each is handling this shift  in their own way. Which is a lot of emotions to cover in one episode & it is accomplished flawlessly, in my opinion. That being said, I’m just going to focus on Lucifer & Chloe because obviously. (With a little mention of M/C)
Chloe, is very much focused on the case at hand; which isn’t surprising to anyone. Although she had a seemingly good time at the Axara concert w/ M/C, in her mind & her own words it was “…no big deal.” In fact she doesn’t quite get why everyone else, especially Lucifer, is making it one. What throws her for a loop is M/C asking her out on another date later in the ep. Despite telling her a few eps back that he wasn’t “relationship material”.
Chloe’s subtle reactions during the sting are very telling. (highly recommend giving it a couple rewatches). At first she’s very open, complementing M/C on his rock collection. There is no way she didn’t giggle about this to herself later that night; & she definitely texted Linda & Ella about it as well. Also like to think in an alternate timeline Chloe & Luci laughed about this over that coffee whilst starring longingly into each others eyes…
Tumblr media
Anyways, eventually like w/ most of her interactions w/ M/C, Chloe becomes jittery. -At 1:57 M/C asks “Is something wrong”  The grossest part about this moment is the way he leans over her; dominating the space. Whereas Chloe’s body language is very closed off; no eye contact. Our detective is very out of her element. This isn’t the normal ‘uh I don’t know how to speak because my crush is right there’ vibe. It’s ‘I need to watch what I say cause I don’t know what they’ll do’ vibe. Yes Chloe has an attraction to M/C, but there’s a subconscious part of her that is unnerved by him. This is proven to me when she quickly gets out that they shouldn’t date because they work together & things could get weird. Only then does she make eye contact with him, gauging his reaction.
-2:16 M/C’s response: ‘You asked me out first Decker’.  EXCUSE ME?! What kind of ‘You started it first’ BS is this? That’s something I would say to my dad when my lil bro & I would get into fights as kids. ‘What are you 12?!’ - @psychicninja90 -slow clap; Ugh!! It makes me wanna…
Tumblr media
-brushes self off; Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system…  At first Chloe is flabbergasted by this response, & dare I say a little disgusted. I feel like if Lucifer had said something like this her reaction would be vastly different. He would’ve said it teasingly & paired w/ a smirk. She would’ve served him one of her looks, shook her head, trying & failing to hide a small smile. Whereas M/C is blunt & accusatory; in that moment he might as well have said ‘I didn’t start this, you did. Don’t blame me.’  The detective handles this w/ a lot more decorum than I would’ve in that moment. Letting out a slight scoff, which is deafening. She confirms this accusation laid before her & ends this exchange by saying…
“I need someone who can let me in & I don’t know if that’s you.”
Before beginning any relationship, you need to be on equal footing w/ the other. Apart from love you need honesty, trust, loyalty, & most importantly communication. A person to help you through your inner struggles, & vice versa. Discovering things about yourself & the other person that nobody else knows. Giving yourself over to them completely; not because you’re forced to but because you want to. Being completely & totally transparent w/ your partner; no lies, no going backwards.
We all know how close Lucifer & Chloe came to being more than partners. And each time there was a hiccup; that being Lucifer’s walls. Our devil has had eons to construct them. The pain of being cast down from heaven, his mother & siblings seemingly shunning him. Punishing the guilty day in & out, dealing w/ the perceptions that people have created of him during that time i.e ‘The devil made me do it.’ It’s a lot to unpack, & despite him having been seeing Dr. Linda for almost 3 yrs, she’s barely scratched the surface. The fact that a character, as stubborn & arrogant as Lucifer, has sought out help for his problems is amazing. Coupled with the fact that he takes his therapy sessions seriously; or at least he does in his own way. It’s so refreshing, & truly one of my favorite aspects of this show. Gushing aside, Linda hasn’t been the only one chipping away at Lucifer’s facade. Chloe has given a few decent whacks at it as well.
“I’m not here for a case, I’m here for you… I thought you needed a friend.”
Chloe’s left the door open for Luci time & time again. Asking him what’s wrong. Letting him know if he needs anything she’d be here for him. Only to have him push her away when their relationship was developing into something more. To Chloe it feels as if Lucifer is stringing her along. That he’s immature, he’s not ready for a serious relationship, the list goes on. Even though Chloe’s grown to care so much for Luci, she’s not gonna wait around for him to figure himself out. She has Trixie to think about. And if she’s going to let someone be in her life, there can’t be any secrets between them. They need to be on equal footing with each other. Rely on each other, lean on each other, and everything else that comes w/ any healthy relationship.
Despite how much Lucifer & Chloe have progressed up until this point, theirs still a lot that needs to happen in order for them to get back to where they were in 2x12. The most important being Chloe finally believing that he is in fact the devil. Now we the audience know that in the S2 finale & in 3x01 Lucifer was ready to bring Chloe into the fold. But then it was bye bye Mr. Crispy & hello wings! And thus the emotional spiral for Lucifer began…
Tumblr media
Lucifer in 3x18 is showing signs of jealousy & possessiveness. When confronted w/ Chloe & Cain’s interactions, he outwardly tries to portray himself as not caring. Even though inside we know he’s “totally freaking out”. The phrase of the day for him is multiple variations of “nothing’s changing”; he just want’s things to stay the same. Just him & the detective solving crimes & catching the bad guys,
Before I go on, there’s a wonderful thread that I read by @agentmadani / @frankcastle on twitter where she talks about Lucifer & why he made the decisions he made in TLH etc. She pretty much summarizes everything I’m about to say here. So if you want something less long winded go check her out! Thanks again hun for helping me get my thoughts together!😊💞
Tumblr media
We can all agree that Lucifer has been struggling a lot this season. His loss of identity, his continuing struggle w/ mental health, wanting revenge, getting mixed up in a deal w/ the first murderer, there’s a lot. The one thing that hasn’t been focused on until now is his & Chloe’s relationship. Specifically the idea that Chloe’s free will is compromised due to her being a literal miracle sent down from dear old Dad. The idea that the woman that he loved was just another player in his father’s play was the final straw.
“So none of it was real.”
This revelation was the catalyst to Lucifer leaving in 2x13, & coming back married in 2x14. He wasn’t about to sacrifice Chloe’s free will just so he could be with her. In that moment Lucifer decided to forgo his happiness in order to protect her from him. So he pushed her away & told her they were ‘just friends’; being partners is better than a relationship built on a lie. Which leads us to where we are now. In TLH Lucifer had a revelation when he confronted our ‘murderer of the wk’.
“You don’t get to decide who someone wants to be with… and neither do I.”
In that moment Lucifer realizes Chloe’s free will is not being controlled by Dad. She has the ability to decide who she does & doesn’t want in her life, etc. Chloe is her own person; & more importantly she was not put in Lucifer’s path by his father. This is a moment we’ve all been waiting for… or at least I have. Maybe because it was done so subtly, I don’t think many of you picked up on it. And for those of you who are just catching up, your welcome! I’ll give you a moment to happy dance it out.
Tumblr media
All good? Ok, back to the post. So now that we’ve gotten past that speed bump, we should be in the clear for a Deckerstar reunion right?! …Well not just yet. See now that Lucifer knows Chloe has a choice, he’s not going to take that away from her. It’s like I said above, the last thing Lucifer wants is for Chloe’s consent to be taken away. She out of everyone deserves to have a say in what happens in her life. And if Chloe wants to choose a life w/o him in it, romantically speaking, then her wish is his command. Because the saddest part about all of this is there will always be a part of Lucifer that believes he doesn’t deserve Chloe.
“You deserve someone as good as you because well you’re special & I’m not worth it.”
As confident as Lucifer portrays himself to be, deep down behind that devilish smirk is eons of self loathing. He believes himself to be a monster, pure evil. Why else would his father cast him out of heaven? That’s how humans think of him; his own brother even deemed him as such so it must be true. Where Chloe is the good & light, he is the darkness & the damned. Never the two shall mix; if he has anything to say about it. So once again Lucifer removes himself from the equation, with the full knowledge that Chloe isn’t a part of his Dad’s plan. He just wants her to be happy. It just sucks that Cain is not the person Chloe deserves.
Tumblr media
Remember that pin I told you to make concerning the final scene between Chloe & Lucifer? It’s time I say we unpin it. Now that I’ve explained both of their frames of mind to the best of my ability, hopefully you can understand why Lucifer turned down that cup of java. Before he’s even reached Chloe’s door, he’s already made up his mind to let Chloe explore things w/ M/C. They’re partners & friends; they aren’t “a thing”. He doesn’t get to have a say in who Chloe has in her life, she does.
As far as he knows, her feelings towards M/C are genuine. Lucifer had to sit & listen to her wax poetic on the radio about him. Ignoring the handsome comment, Luci doesn’t see himself as brave. The detective & he may have some things in common but not many. Which is something she’s pointed out in the past. Finally the veritable nail in the coffin, he (M/C) is a good person. At least in Chloe’s eyes; which is honestly the most frustrating part of this whole thing. Lucifer’s the devil, lord of hell, ruler over the damned. He makes deals, & shows people their greatest desires. But only for something in return; not out of the goodness of his heart. He punishes the guilty, but still people blame him for their wrong doings. So with all this stacked against him, the best choice in Luci’s mind is for him to bow out.
“I realize there’s room in your life for all sorts of relationships; even if it is with him….”
I have to give so much credit to Tom in this scene. I swear I was half expecting Luci to break down & cry, but he holds steadfast. You can see the torment playing out on his face. He doesn’t want to do this, but he has to if it means Chloe’s happy. The moment when he leaves, forcefully closing the door on his way out, is what really gets me. If he had stayed to drink that stupid cup of coffee; his resolve would be gone. Luci knew that if he didn’t leave, he would’ve never had the strength to do so again. There’s no doubt that although Lucifer was surrounded by gorgeous ladies that night, his heart was in that dining room w/ his one & only. Now I’m not saying Lucifer thinks Cain is ALL of those things Chloe claimed on the radio, because he doesn’t. We & Lucifer are well aware that M/C is a piece of garbage. This isn’t anything new. It’s what is said that is most important rather than who it’s referencing. In my mind Chloe was describing aspects of Lucifer that she loves. No one can convince me otherwise. Her looking at M/C during this scene, was & is what we call a misdirect. I mean she knew Lucifer would be listening & not M/C after all. Lucifer is a good person & he does help people; in his own way. He is brave (she just doesn’t know how brave), & of course he’s handsome. He’s all of this & so much more. I mean M/C has some nice arms, but you can’t beat this…
Tumblr media
HAHA YOU THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE SHIRTLESS LUCI! That would’ve been too easy.😘😜😏
Now I’ve made it known that I don’t believe for one second that Lucifer trusts Cain; let alone thinks of him as a friend. Despite Lucifer referring to him as such in 3x15. Tom Ellis described them as ‘frenemies’ remember. Do you know how many times I referred to someone as a ‘friend’ even though we weren’t? A fair amount; and that’s just what Lucifer did. Sometimes ‘friend’ is the simplest way to describe a relationship w/o over complicating things. I mean how else could’ve Lucifer related his query to Chloe w/o sounding completely off his rocker? Which leads to what Luci says to the killer upon interrupting him…
”Too bad, if you had started with him I would’ve let you swing.”
This wasn’t just said out of protectiveness over Chloe. Or even jealousy over M/C; which can’t lie, is hard for me to conceptualize. From my position it was said out of Lucifer’s willingness to harm Cain if the time comes. Need I remind y’all about that time in the surveillance van all those eps ago? M/C revealed to Lucifer that he unflinchingly put Chloe in harms way to get what he wants. Whose to say he wouldn’t do it again? This thought I’m sure is one of the main reasons Lucifer entered into that deal, besides revenge on Dad. Averting M/C’s attention away from the detective by any means necessary. He is Chloe’s guardian devil after all. Something else I noticed upon my second viewing of TLH is the amount of side eye Lucifer was giving Cain. To contribute these actions as just him silently judging the ‘old cop mentor’ bs would be an understatement. To me it was Lucifer scoping Cain out; being aware of his every move. He even asks M/C point blank why he’s been hovering around the detective.
“What happened to the whole wanting to die thing?” “I had a change of heart…”
Do you honestly think Lucifer is gonna take what M/C says at face value & roll with it. Then you don’t know Lucifer. He may have made a deal with this guy but he doesn’t trust him as much as he can hurt him. Which isn’t very much, unfortunately for us. And to the people claiming Luci led Chloe right into M/C’s manipulation knowing what that asshat is planning…
Tumblr media
This is Lucifer ‘All that I ask, is that you protect Chloe’ Morningstar we’re talking about here. Did you see how quickly Lucifer lost his shit when Chloe refused to leave during the bomb threat? This is the same guy who tackled a girl w/ a knife whilst Chloe was holding a gun 7ft. away. Luci has no chill when it comes to protecting his lady love. I’m sure if Chloe were to get a paper cut while reading a case file he’d rip it to shreds. That sounds extreme, but you know I’m right. He may not know exactly what M/C’s planning; if anything. But he knows that there’s always the possibility. Saying Lucifer’s just going to sit back & watch this happen doesn’t make sense. The second he catches a whiff that Cain is planning something that could put Chloe in harm’s way it’ll be on like Donkey Kong!
“The thing about rocks is that they’re old, & they never change.” Guess who else is old & never changes? Cain. This is foreshadowing from the writers that Cain’s end goal is the same as it’s always been. All he’s done is shift his focus back to Chloe; again he believes her to be key to dying. Now we just have wait & see him complete this end goal. Or slip up & fail miserably.
Luci knows the risk he’s taking letting Chloe have this relationship w/ M/C; but it’s a risk he’s willing to take. He wouldn’t be doing this if he didn’t already think Chloe could take care of herself. As protective as Luci is, he knows she has a good head on her shoulders; she trusts her gut. She didn’t get to where she is now being coddled. Chloe was solving crimes, kicking ass, & taking names long before he showed up. It’s with that in mind that Lucifer leaves her w/ this word of advice.
“Just please, be careful.”
He’s says this, not only for Chloe to be on the look out, but to subtly tell her that so will he. If she needs anything he’ll be here for her. Just like how she’s always been there for him. In doing this, he’s left that door open for her; another piece of that formidable wall Lucifer’s built has fell away.
Tumblr media
(^^OW IT HURTS I’M SORRY!!^^) Now for Chloe’s side… She is very surprised by Luci’s house call, but as always she welcomes him in w/o hesitation. It makes me miss the days of the devil sneaking in to make her some breakfast, oh memories. Chloe doesn’t say much in this scene, but it still bares looking at. (0:29)  “Perhaps I was slightly insecure about Pierce moving in on our partnership.” ”Oh Lucifer, that’s not what’s happening.” This is a perfect parallel to everyone’s favorite beach scene in 2x11. thank you @boundtobeafraid for creating this; great minds think alike.😚💝
Tumblr media
Like in 2x11, Chloe feels instantly compelled to relieve Lucifer’s assumptions; or in this case worries. That nothing is really changing, that nothing & no one will ever come between them.  (0:56) “Do you want to stay? I can make coffee.” With this statement Chloe reveals to us who her heart belongs to… Lucifer. He’s her first choice, not M/C. She’s letting Lucifer in, letting him know that she’s willing to take their relationship to that next level. Then like clockwork, Lucifer refuses her offer; & closes himself off. His walls are up & as she well knows they won’t be coming down anytime soon. With this in mind, she decides to give M/C a call. Conscious of the fact that if Lucifer had stayed, she never would’ve given him a second thought.
“Okay, another time.”
…And there will be, just not yet. Wearing the bullet necklace in ‘Orange Is The New Maze’ is proof of that. It’s her way of telling Lucifer that he’s still important to her. Chloe’s heart belongs to him, no matter what she’s doing or who she’s with. And even though she’s seemingly moving on, there’s a part of her waiting for him to catch up.
Needless to say everything that has happened in the past influences what transpired in TLH. And more importantly, what has been set in motion in TLH will influence what ultimately goes down in the finale. It was a turning point. Not only was there an internal shift for our characters, for most there was an external one to follow. Most were painful & caused a few tears, but all of it had a purpose. With all stories you need to have the good with the bad, & everything else in between. For me, there’s a deeper reason to why this episode was called ‘The Last Heartbreak’. Although this may not be the last time our hearts will break this season; we’ve gotten through the brunt of it. You need to trust that everything will turn out right in the end. There’s a light at the end of this tunnel that we’re currently in, & I can see only one way for this season to end.
Tumblr media
There’s a reason we’ve all stuck around up until this point. There’s a reason I & many others have written post after post about this show. What the Lucifer writers/actors have cultivated here is something truly unique. And I know none of us want it to end before it’s even begun. So take a deep breath & breathe. Keep your eyes on the prize. I hope you enjoyed this journey I led you on; & that you gained some perspective on a few moments that you didn’t before. Would love to hear your thoughts & feelings on what I talked about here or anything else. Here’s hoping next time around I’m able to post in the lead up to the next ep & not the day before. Till then, I hope you have a lovely morning, day, noon, or night whenever you’re reading this. If you want to be a part of the post tribe just message me & I’ll add you to the roster.  xoxo Em Tribe: @psychicninja90, @mametupa, @boundtobeafraid, @ohmymorningstar, @aeruthien, @lux-i-fer, @lucifer-central, @ships-sailing-in-the-night, @frankcastle, @fire-mage-catril, @sanoiro

Sorry lucifer writers but my headcanon about Chloe’s ‘miracle’ status will forever be that
Michael/some other dick brother told Amenadiel to bless her parents and pretended it was acc God
It was actually an evil long-term plan to send Lucifer to hell
they hoped that by Chloe being immune to his charms once someone would finally see Lucifer without his mojo magic and as the ‘monster’ that (they think) he is it would cause Luci to feel so bad about himself that he goes back to hell willingly and permanently.
BUT then it turns out that instead of feeling threatened by being finally seen for who he is he was indeared by it causing Michael’s plan to fail
And now we get adorable Deckerstar in love despite the odds without Chloe being some sort of gift which I truthfully find just a tad bit sexist and like..weird idk

While I was doing this list, I’ve gotten some ideas out of it, and a Deckerstar date fic idea which I’ll do a post about it later. And this one got me thinking about the first 2 or 3 episodes of season 5:
This is in a different category, but I’m kinda imagining Chloe trying to keep herself together after Lucifer left, and in a case when she catches the killer she just snaps and goes “I’ll introduce you to someone in Hell who will gladly torture the shit out of you for what you’ve done.”
We have seen Lucifer and Chloe together ever since they first met in the pilot. Even with all the separation, like Lucifer leaving Chloe and being in Vegas for two weeks or Chloe being in Rome for a month, we have seen them physically together for every episode.
In “Once Upon a Time” where God didn’t manipulate things for them to meet, still ended up meeting due to the connection of each other in the murder case (the victim was Chloe’s friend and was killed at Lux). At the start they were racing against each other for who gets to catch the killer first, but then both decided they work better together.
Especially in “City of Angels” where unbeknownst to them, they were within arm’s length of each other and working to catch the same bad guy. Lucifer sensed her presence and unknowingly helped solve Chloe’s case.
I wanted to add that in every episode they work on cases together, but then I remembered “Vegas with Some Radish” it was Chloe’s birthday and she was just partying at Lucifer’s place while he and Ella were in Vegas.
The point is they’re always together on screen, but what about now when Lucifer’s currently in Hell?
If the writers are gonna do what I think they’re gonna do, they’ll break that cycle in the first episode of season 5. It’ll be the longest they’ve ever been without each other, they’re doing their jobs but they’re missing the other terribly. They’ll think there’s no hope of ever seeing each other again, until something happens and we go to the second episode.
We’ll see them separated for 3 episodes at the very very least. But maybe, somehow, someway, they’re going to find a way to connect to each other. Like with Captain Swan, Killian was in the Underworld and he traversed across realms to send a message to Emma.
Or maybe the murderer dies, “I’ll introduce you to someone in Hell who will gladly torture the shit out of you for what you’ve done,” and Lucifer visits them and goes something like “Ah, that’s my Detective. I used to be her partner, and I wasn’t allowed to torture killers like you. But it seems like she’s letting me do the honors.”
And then we’ll have the conclusion of Lucifer getting to stay indefinitely on Earth with Chloe and they’ll be together forever and ever.

Deckerstar — lost without you 1/1
Summary: In which Father Frank hears of Lucifer's return to Hell, follows in Eve's footsteps by visiting the Devil from time to time, and finally establishes the kind of friendship they had been laying the foundations of before they were both so rudely interrupted by his death.
Alternatively: A Priest Walks Into Hell
(...and, quite possibly, doesn't come back out?)
Ratings: General Audiences
Words: 2.5k+
Warnings: Post-S4. Spoilers ahead. Implied Deckerstar. Canon divergence. Seriously, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED SEASON 4.
AN: This started out as a crack if and evolved into... something more emotional than I had originally intended it to be because why not *sighs* lol.
AN: This started out as a crack fic and evolved into... something more emotional than I had originally intended it to be because why not *sighs* lol. I wrote this way before the IG takeover by Tom, Ildy and Joe so the fact that Tom wishes he could see Father Frank again but that he couldn't because he's in Heaven and Lucifer is in Hell was just bloody kismet!!!
Title, and song referenced below, is by Freya Ridings which is SO DECKERSTAR except you change 'I have to see the world' to 'I've got to save the world' and I cRYYYYYYY.
Also, Father Frank went to Heaven! But if Amenadiel's theory of Free Will is to be believed—and it obviously can because how else was Eve able to escape Heaven, come back to life and in her original, youthful body, if it can't be—then anyone is free to leave Heaven or Hell, which is how Frank can visit Lucifer. Trust me, I had a whole backstory, I'm just... not... strong enough to write it out so, uh.
Roll with it...?
SHOUTOUT to Devil'sMiracle17 for beta reading the SHIT out of this and whipping it into shape better than I ever could. This was fine, but you made it BETTER and I'm so grateful to have met you through this experience! You have my heart!

“What song is that?”
Lucifer saunters into the designated music chambers of his hellish castle before seating himself onto the bench next to Frank.
“Sounds positively wretched.”
Although, ‘saunter’ might have been too generous a term… slinks would have been the appropriate description—trudge even more so. Unless he holds court with his demons, the Devil doesn’t much care for appearances these days.
At least not when he’s with him.
Dejection has made a home of his friend’s shoulders, so Frank does what he can to, if not extinguish—then alleviate the insidious homesickness that plagues him by providing his more human company.
Little good it does.
Frank sighs. “Something one of the newer, younger residents of the Silver City keeps blasting on repeat through the courtyard speakers. Apparently he’s having a bit of trouble accepting his newfound… state and so the angels have permitted the coping mechanism, however repetitive,” he grumbles. “The other residents have given the kid a wide berth, but I actually like staying in the courtyard and it’s been weeks,” he feels his face pinch in shame, even as he cannot hold back the admission. “Now the song’s always stuck in my head. I can’t catch a break, not even here!”
(And if he, too, benefits just as greatly from their arrangement then no one else need ever be the wiser)
Lucifer snorts. “It’s always nice to be sought, not for the scintillating conversation but, for your ability to provide refuge from angsty teenagers and shrieking, mainstream bops,” he says, drily. “You sure know how to make a Devil feel wanted, Padre.”
Frank chuckles. “Don’t forget the refreshments,” he quips, raising a goblet of demon-brewed ale to his lips and taking a dainty sip because—as he learned the hard way—the beverage was not for the faint of heart, dead or alive.
He rolls his eyes, but there’s the tiniest hint of a curl to the corner of his lips that exposes his amusement, “Oh, of course,” it widens in mischief. “That is, when you’re not puking your guts out after having partaken a little too much of the libations…”
“That was one time!”
“And my hellions are still wiping your vile, regurgitations from the side of my castle, you little weakling!”
The pair of them dissolve into giggles as they recall the events that currently fuel their mirth; Lucifer challenging the priest and he, against his better judgement, indulging him in some petty motivation to prove him wrong. Suffice to say—they both lost that night.
Much, much later, when their nostalgia trails off and their chortles fade, Frank plays the piece in its entirety, complete with its lyrics because he’s heard it so many times it’s that embedded into his mind. Lucifer doesn’t do anything as innocuous as applaud, but Frank can sense his appreciation—recognizes it in the easiness of his breaths and the slackening of his shoulders (however minuscule, tension never truly leaving him, not even in his slumber, in the few times Frank has caught him unaware).
“Sounds like something dear Ella would have listened to.”
It’s mumbled out of the corner of his mouth in evident mockery, a derisive tilt to his articulations. Except it’s lost in the soft lines about his mouth and the brightening of his eyes as he becomes swept in the current of his memories.
So he waits, always waits… happy to let Lucifer dictate the pace of their interactions, the weight of their conversations. He learned early on when they’d reunited that Lucifer suffered through good days and bad days like the best of them, that the good days were often outweighed by the bad, and the one method to temper them that didn’t involve isolating himself on his throne for days at a time, or going on a manic bender, or some crazed combination of both, was when he reminisced of his time on Earth. Or more specifically—
The people that made his time there all the more meaningful.
Though he’d been witness to the Devil’s subtle but present humanity in the all too abrupt time they spent together topside, it is never more apparent than when he speaks of the Earthly family he’d found himself, reluctant maybe but ultimately, belonging to.
Sure, the bulk of his tales involve complaining about the notorious righteousness oozing from Amenadiel’s brawny form (“Never fails to bring up he’s the Favorite Son like, alright! We get it, yeesh!”), and the deviousness with which his newborn nephew commands the adults around him with a mere sniffle… ranting about Maze's betrayal (“Twice, Father. Twice! The audacity of that little demon!”) by teaming up with Cain (“I’m going to need a drink for this, aren’t I?” Lucifer cackles. “Or ten!”), and Linda's maddening advice during his therapy sessions (“She can never just give me the answers, honestly, what else am I paying her for?”), before recounting the whole debacle with Eve—after which he upchucked the contents of his stomach over the side of Lucifer’s balcony.
Yet even amidst the palpable, if thinly veiled, vexation of his intonation, there is that undercurrent of affection that one would have to be blind not to notice... but Frank does, and he is happy. Truly. And everyone he knows, and wouldn’t have known if not for Lucifer’s divulging moods, who is significant to Lucifer has made an appearance in all his, sometimes hurtful but mostly fond, chronicles… save for one.
Arguably, the most important one.
Yes, it doesn’t escape his notice that Lucifer hardly ever speaks of the detective that spearheaded Frank’s investigation when he had been alive. His friend is in the middle of narrating his experience in a nudist sanctuary, when he cuts himself off in that manner that tells him Chloe is a part of the story.
This is what he does, every time, and it happens so often that it becomes impossible to not discern that she—his partner in every sense of the word—is so deeply interwoven within his past, his present. One need only be in their presence for more than a second to confirm, there was no mistaking the connection between them, whether it is platonic or otherwise. And so Frank is of the firm belief that it would take more than a couple of short-lived dalliances with third parties to crack, what more break, their relationship.
So, he prods. Not hard. Not pressing enough to warrant his anger or, worse, aggravate his sadness. But a little hint here, a nudge there. He can see the strain in Lucifer's muscles and the melancholy that darkens his all ready too dark orbs… and he's aching.
He can sense the fight brewing in his soul—to speak of her, to bury her memory deep inside himself, to feel her, to wrap her in his darkness, to bring her to the light, to forget her, to remember her. So Frank tells him as much as he can without actually saying the necessary confabulations that he's here, that it's okay. Lucifer can cast his burdens onto him because this is what friends (for this is what they are and yes, his celestial best friend, for all intents and purposes, is the Devil and strange as it is, he wouldn’t have it any other way) do, they listen and they protect and they share the load of your despair as well as they can ‘til finally.
Finally, it spills out of Lucifer like a break in a dam and he is crashing, crashing and all Frank can do is hold him through the tidal wave so he doesn’t drown.
“She loves me,” Lucifer admits openly, softly, even as rivulets stream silently into the collar of his ever-impeccable suit. “She wanted me to stay, and I could not give her even that. I couldn't give her what she desired.”
“Why?”
“That damned prophecy,” he snarls, and his eyes flash red before altogether receding to their natural umber as he further expands on this foretelling, Frank's grimace deepening as a new, priestly, player is introduced and revealed to have preyed on both Lucifer and Chloe’s insecurities through his dastardly manipulations, which resulted in the deaths of a hefty number of innocents.
“And Hell must always have a ruler—a celestial one at that,” Lucifer concludes in muted, hopeless tones.
“Forget the prophecy!” Frank roars, an unexpected heat that tastes of indignation at the awful circumstances that seem to follow Lucifer no matter how undeserving he is of them, coursing through his veins. “Do you love her?”
And the despondency lifts for even just a fraction, replaced by a familiar exasperation.
“Haven't you been listening? First love equals destruction upon humanity? I don't really know how much clearer than the risk of an apocalyptic threat I can get.”
Frank raises an eyebrow. “I've yet to hear you actually declare your love in relation to her name, Lucifer.”
“Ah,” he breathes, and fiddles with a cufflink, which only gives away his unease. “Funny, that—I've also yet to say them to her. Really say them. I just keep calling her my First Love, which, not a lie! Still,” he shrugs but the nonchalance is misplaced in the tremble of his hands, as he lifts his own goblet to his lips for a particularly long gulp before he, mingled with an uncharacteristic sheepishness, huffily continues, “I do adore you, Frank, but if it’s all the same to you, I would much prefer that the first time I say them, properly, it would be to her, yeah? We both know how awful I am at communication and at this point in the game, I wouldn't want any wires getting crossed and all...”
Frank takes pity on the poor creature and halts his rambling with a steady hand to his shoulder. “So, tell her.”
Lucifer gapes. "Sure, because it's as easy as fluffing my wings out and landing at the foot of her bed. Silly me, why hadn't I thought of this before? Oh, that's right! Something to do with Evil being unleashed upon the whole of humankind? Ring any bells? We were literally just talking about this. Am I doing something wrong? Wait, what am I saying. I'm perfect.” Lucifer shoots him a look so pitying, Frank must restrain himself from cuffing him in the back of his head out of annoyance.
“Heaven really does make the lot of you dull, doesn't it?”
The things he puts up with…
“There's always gonna be something, Lucifer,” he entreats (ignoring his last statement). “In any relationship. Sometimes it's fear of commitment, other times it’s disagreements on expenses or the number of kids you want. In your case, it just so happens to be the possibility of the end of the world.”
“Is that all?” he growls, voice dripping with disdain.
“The point is—would you rather face it alone? Or take the risk together? Come on, Lucifer,” he wants to weep.
Frank doesn’t understand where this vehemence stems from, but it seizes his body with an urgency that feels as natural as his phantom heartbeat. Because he’s caught tendrils of this peculiarity before, but never so glaring as now—this fire in his chest and a carillon in his brain that blares, Lucifer does not belong here. Lucifer ruling Hell reeks of all kinds of wrong. But what he’s coaxing him to do… it feels right. Because Chloe and Lucifer feel right.
They are true.
So he asks him, though he can surmise the answer, “Are you willing to fight for that love?”
And Lucifer doesn't hesitate, not for a second. Not for a heartbeat. He doesn't even take a breath before his assent spills forth from his mouth.
“Yes,” he whispers. Then, firmer—louder, “Yes. I want to fight. For her. For us.”
Because of course he would, the rebel son of God. He would.
“Then what are you standing around here talking to me for? Go!”
“And what of Hell? What's to stop the demons from coming after me again. It would really help against whatever's coming if I wasn’t worrying about a possession epidemic on top of the apocalypse.”
And Frank thinks about those scant seconds before he died. How fleeting but impactful his last words had been. “Maybe he put me in yours,” he had said. “Your Father has a plan.” He thinks about how easily the words had slipped out, almost of their own volition.
He thought dying meant the cold. But—in that transitory precipice of life and death, the sanguine fluid that fueled his essence leaking from his body and staining his cassock, and Lucifer’s hands, red—held in the arms of the Devil, all he felt was warmth… a glowing fireplace after a day in the snow, the fiery embers of a bonfire, the comforting flame of an inimitable presence scoring across his heart, engulfing his soul. It was magnificent.
One might even say divine.
And in that moment, he knew.
“I'll do it,” he says. “I will rule Hell in your stead.”
And he can see Lucifer gunning for a laugh ‘til he notices the steely glint in Frank's eyes, the resolve firming the lines of his figure, making him seem taller. Stately. Royal.
“Have I ever told you,” he starts, a smirk burgeoning on his lips, “that my full name is Frankiel?”
“Spear of God,” Lucifer translates, slowly.
“Your Father has a plan,” he repeats.
Understanding dawns in Lucifer's eyes.
“Doesn't mean it's always a good one,” he ripostes, weakly.
“And yet,” Frank chuckles, surety making him bold, excited even, as he gathers him into his arms. “I’m certain that in this, we can both agree—it is. It works.” He nods onto the taller man’s stiff shoulder. “It has to.”
Because this is what he endured the pain of living for—so that in death, he could give another a chance to be reborn, to return the love which had been so lost to him before. Because God may work in mysterious ways, but He used him as a vessel and revealed the truth of Lucifer to him, so that he could use his final breaths to bestow a glimmer of hope into His son.
He would accept no other explanation apart from this miracle unfolding before him—all the cogs and wheels that made up his life, and afterlife, shifting into perfect gear.
He says as much to Lucifer, and though he shakes his head as if in denial, he gradually returns the embrace. Frank closes his eyes—and knows that same hope that tethered him in those final, critical, beautiful moments of his life, is now a living, breathing entity in Lucifer’s own soul because—when he opens them, the Devil is gone.
There is much to work out—the insurgence of the demons that will surely reignite at Lucifer’s once more, and final, departure, arranging visits with his daughter, how to get up on that damned throne, perhaps begin forging a new one in its stead, figure out whatever his freshly-anointed status truly entails. There will be time for all of that, eons of it, even. But for now…
The priest walks out onto the edge of the balcony that overlooks his newfound domain—Hell is a sprawling, ebony terrain before him.
And this, quite naturally, is how Father Frank ends up ruling it.
AN: Honestly, I wrote this because I just really miss Father Frank. Even after S4 'A Priest Walks into a Bar' is still hands down one of my most favorite episodes in all four seasons.
And, just as Father Frank, I too would sacrifice my spot in Heaven if it meant Deckerstar could be together. LET THEM BE HAPPY!!!
Speaking of, I got some bigger stuff in the works. This came to me at a 4am, sleep-deprived yet frenzy, haze and wouldn't leave me alone till it was written. I know, the lack of Chloe in this is abysmal XD but rest assured, the Deckerstar program should resume soon so, stay tuned!

*slow clap @sanoiro * You're reading my mind hun!!
I'm of the mindset that Lucifer's vulnerability is a combination of both his feelings & Chloe's to him. You can't have one w/o the other; & it ebbs & flows depending on the situation etc. It never made sense to me that it's one-sided.
And like what @kyloverren said love can't be forced. Love is built on trust, honesty, loyalty, communication (something C&L need to work on atm but still). It's a strong, sometimes hard won emotion that you can't will into existence. Or in Cain's case manipulate into being. He knows Chloe has a crush on him & prolly thinks he's already half way there.
Guess what dude, Lucifer & Chloe have 2 1/2 yrs of trust on lock. All you have is arms & a nice motorcycle. You can't break something that's unbreakable.
Hi! :-) I've been wondering what does Cain expect to gain from Chloe. It has already been proven that she doesn't make him vulnerable like she does Lucifer. Is it just to piss the Devil off? I know you have speculated feelings might be involved for her powers to work on Cain, but how the hell would he know that? I really don't get the motive. Is it just a matter of "he has it, I want it" after Amenadiel's comment? Thoughts?
THis is one of the answers I would like to post publicly. If you want me to delete it let me know. ;)
This is something I have mentioned many times but it was two versions actually my theory and the theory of the rest of the fandom. Marcus in 3x17 realised that Chloe and Lucifer have a deeper bond something that perhaps makes Lucifer vulnerable. If you remember it was what Maze suggested *to rub some of what Decker has on Pierce*. But what is that exactly? My theory is that Chloe’s feelings affect how vulnerable Lucifer will be. IN my head that is why Lucifer was still invulnerable because she had not been emotionally attached to him yet. Btw I even wrote a story about that almost a year ago where I said what would have happened if Lucifer and Chloe had kissed before they confronted Jimmy? My answer in that fic was that Chloe ended up in a coma for 3 years and Lucifer died. Well.. not really but he was found dead at the scene over her but the flowers in the room (sunflowers like the ones he brought her in the pilot) gave away that Lucifer had managed to get back to Earth somehow and was waiting for her to wake up. Now the fandom believes that Lucifer’s vulnerability is because of his feelings and not hers. Personally, I believe that’s not true.
So what will happen in the future episodes? Either of the theories will be proven correct as proximity is not what works for Lucifer’s vulnerability as far as Marcus has realised. At this point allow me to tell you that in m theory that was the reason why in 2x12 Chloe had to run across the campus for Lucifer to be invulnerable again. Because her feelings run too deep and so the radius of that effect had become larger. With all the above in mind, Marcus will either try to make himself fall for her (according to the fandom) or he will try to make her fall for him (according to the fandom). Of course, there is always the possibility that the feelings should be mutual in order for Lucifer’s vulnerability to work something that I love and makes sense as very few people know that the episode 1x03 where Chloe shoots Lucifer was supposed to be 1x10!
Ildy said the following regarding this change which I believe it’s vital in order to understand Lucifer’s vulnerability from a different scope. That of the originally intended continuity.
Ildy Modrovich: Our third episode is “The Would Be Prince Of Darkness,” but that took some gymnastics.
That was originally episode ten, but we needed to slow down the mythology; that Lucifer was getting to be too vulnerable too quickly.
We wanted to put another episode between two and three - we called this one 2.5. The trick was to not feel like we were treading water in that. We basically looked for a meaty theme - does Lucifer’s care-free devilish ways cause someone to die? It’s the usual it’s all fun until some sweet young thing ends up floating in a pool sort of thing. We just wanted to slow play our mythology, so that it’s one step forward, two steps back.
That’s the dance that we play with the romance, too. We decided early on that the most interesting thing to do between Lucifer and Chloe would be to really find something beyond romance, yet Lucifer is all about the Id. What would be meaningful for him would be to have a true connection and trust and friendship and love between he and Chloe, so we knew that was going to take a long time.
Kind of the same way as with the mythology. He might make a pass at her which might seem like a step forward in the romance, but then realize that wasn’t satisfying and she didn’t respond or whatever, and that’s two steps back. With the mythology, he might have a flash of humanity, but he’s so inherently selfish that he has to almost be afraid of that feeling and back way up from it.
So as you can see and what I believe Ildy in a way maybe revealing since S2 that Lucifer, Chloe their feelings and his vulnerability are connected in the series mythos. Now how exactly hopefully it will be resolved though Marcus.

hey lucifer anon here again, just wanted to drop by and say i finished season 6 and oh my goDDDDDDD. i would love to hear ur thoughts and feelings if u have any
beloved lucifer anon, i finally finished the series (!!!) and i have the most Thoughts & Feelings. i laughed, i cried, i screamed, i cried some more. it’s been a while since my last true spiral, and god, it's exhilarating. i’d never written a meta spec piece before, and after 5b aired, i was less certain about godadiel—sorry, amenagod. but the show wasn’t over yet and i held onto hope, all the while reluctantly letting myself get used to the idea of lucifer ascending to godhood. i was hanging by a thread through s6 up to those moments when lucifer and amenadiel have their huge revelations. i lost my shit when lucifer admits he doesn’t want to be god; i had to keep myself from screaming “I KNEW IT” after amenadiel says he's going to be god (almost waking up everyone in my house at 3am -- a theme for me this season that was kicked off by the reveal of who rory is !!!!!).
anon, i was flying high, i was chomping at the bit, i was feral. this season has left me with brainworms for days, confirming so many wild theories (#1 dad mug, i’m looking at you, motherfucker), and making me think back to all the seeds that were planted and now harvested, and of course leaving me melting into the floor from all the deckerstar love. (i think the only thing i was truly unprepared for was "welcome to the black parade" playing at the end djsldjsl my emo heart was NOT ready for that!!!)
i really want to delve more into my Thots(tm) about this season and the arcs as a whole, but with my brainworms raving it up, anything i do will just be me going !!!!! at everything. for right now, i’m just going to soak in the show gently kissing me on the head and giving me such good fucking food. the glass i'm chewing is delicious.

Lucifer Fanfiction Recs
It's about time I did one of these for this fandom! This is by no means comprehensive or even everything I've read that's saved in my bookmarks. You can see more of them here if you want to see a fuller listing here. Instead, I've just randomly selected a few of my favorites that I'd like to boost for now, and I'll likely do another eventually with more.
Multi-Chapter Fics:
A Refraction of Light Author: Matchstick_Dolly Rating: M Genre: Adventure/Romance/Drama (Pick one, there are many!) Characters: Whole Cast, OCs Status: Complete Summary:The Sinnerman's legacy lives on in the LAPD as a new street drug is tied to a string of heinous murders. While Lucifer and Chloe struggle to solve the mystery plaguing Los Angeles, they discover they're stronger together than apart. In Hell, Cain climbs his way to the top. Why I Loved It: There's a lot of really good longfics in this fandom, but this one is definitely up there as one of my favorites. Elegantly structured with a complex, provocative, and excellently woven plot, it's an AU that takes off where season 3 ended and goes on a winding journey exploring Deckerstar, the meaning of miracles, and the nature of Heaven and Hell. This story is a monster - it's literally second place for highest word count on Ao3's Lucifer section - but it's worth the time it takes to watch it unfold. It's one of the few that I've seen really tackle the moral question of damnation and what the existence of Hell tells us about God in a thoughtful way. I started following this back when it was only at nineteen chapters and enjoyed it every step of there way. There's not one event or character that winds up wasted. I'd love to see it get more love.
Title: A Bloodless Cut Author: Moan Diary Rating: G Genre: Gen Characters: Chloe Decker Status: Complete Summary: She’s not the first woman to find herself alone in front of her bathroom mirror, scissors in hand, martyred hair littering the sink, suddenly face-to-face with the cold certainty that she’s made a terrible mistake. Why I Loved It: Post-S4 was ripe for a lot of Chloe character pieces, and this one stood out for me in terms of how it engaged her mistakes and flaws frankly while still giving her space to grow and excel without Lucifer.
Title: A More Gradual Descent Author: Liannabob Rating: M Genre: Gen Characters: Amenadiel, Lucifer Morningstar Status: Complete Summary: Amenadiel brings Samael back to Hell. Again. And again. And again. Why I Loved It: The relationship between the brothers has a lot of space for exploration, but few fics have done it to the extent and complexity as this one. It tracks the relationship between the two of them through history, from shortly after the fall right up to the start of the second season, and also their differing relationship to humanity as the world changes over and over with human industrial revolution. This is something I wish the show had thought about doing, even on a lesser scale, so it was satisfying to see a talented author take this on.
Title: A Divine Spark Author: umbrafix Rating: T Genre: Gen Characters: Lucifer Morningstar, Linda Martin, related cast Status: Complete Summary: There have been no new angels created in the time since Lucifer was cast down from heaven. What if God wanted something different in the deal that Lucifer made with him? AU from S1 Ep13. Why I Loved It: This was such an unexpected pleasure. I clicked on it out of curiosity and wound up devouring it in one night. This is a notable divergence post-S1 - there's no Goddess, for instance - and it definitely has some flavor of the comics to it, but what's so compelling about it is how provocatively it examines Lucifer's character, particularly in relation to Linda. Very creatively done with such a unique concept.
One-Shots:
Title: Devil Wind Author: mishasan7 Rating: M Genre: Comedy Characters: Lucifer Morningstar, Mazikeen, OCs Summary: Two cops are called to a disturbance down on the beachfront... a 911 call reported cannon fire, random screaming, and... tornadoes? It's just another day at the office for Long Beach PD at this time of year... or is it? Why I Loved It: It's funny as hell. It's the sequel to her previous fic, "Devil's Haircut," which is a spec fic about how Lucifer and Maze decided to head to Los Angeles prior to the reveal in "City of Angels." Just lots of fun and cleverly done from the perspective of two original characters who just...absolutely do not know how to deal with two infernal idiots.
Title: Perspective Author: Ithil Rating: T Genre: Drama, Character Piece Characters: Lucifer Morningstar, God Summary: The king was back, and order would be restored. Lucifer returns to rule hell, only to hear a very familiar voice offer HIM a deal. Why I Loved It: I've known this author since Underworld fandom, and I've always enjoyed the sharp, biting humor of her style. It's a great character piece and a caustic look at the troubled relationship between Lucifer and Hell and God.
Title: Let Me Down Slowly Author: Verbyna Rating: M Genre: Drama, Character Piece Characters: Chloe Decker, Daniel Espinoza Summary: A tear-out poster of Chloe in a bikini was tacked up in the break room for a whole day until Dan Espinoza tore it down. Why I Loved It: One of the few attempts I've seen tackle the tumultuous relationship between Chloe and Dan, tracking their relationship back to when it started all the way through to when it fell apart. Very sharply written character examination.
Title: The Long Reign Author: Baby Spinach Rating: G Genre: Angst Characters: Lucifer Morningstar Summary: Now returned to Hell for good, Lucifer seeks diversion among familiar faces. Why I Loved It: A very bittersweet look at Lucifer following S4. It just hits that perfect sense of melancholy in examining what a sacrifice entails while being a great character piece. The companion fic examines the story from Chloe's perspective and is, of course, worth reading, too.
Title: Loopholes Author: SpinnerDolphin Rating: T Genre: Dramedy Characters: Chloe Decker, Overworked Demons Summary: It wasn’t a perfect system, or even a very good one, but it was something, anyway. Season 4 spoilers. (Lucifer finds a way to contact Chloe. Kind of.) Why I Loved It: Told with humor and affection, it's a great post-S4 speculative piece that plays around with the concept of demon possession and how it may be utilized. It's sweet and romantic and perfectly bittersweet.
Title: Nothing Mortal Author: Erinyes_kiss Rating: E Genre: Drama, Romance Characters: Chloe Decker, Mazikeen Summary: Mazikeen finds the small joys of incarnation Why I Loved It: Gorgeously written Chlaze fic, a pairing that is sadly underutilized by the fandom. It was written during S1 and has that darker, biting tone of the story at that point. Just beautifully done all around.
Title: my piano sits against the wall Author: Cloudnine101 Rating: T Genre: Character Piece Characters: Lucifer Morningstar Summary: When Lucifer falls, all he can think is bloody finally. Why I Loved It: Excellent S1 character piece looking at Lucifer as both fallen angel to a man falling unexpectedly in love with a mortal.

So I’ve been speculating that Chloe may have been homeschooled or at least not had the full ‘high school’ experience. What w/ ‘Hot Tub High School’ & Penelope shuttling her from audition to audition as a child.  I bring this up because Tom had an interview today on the ET Facebook  & he pretty much confirmed this suspicions I had. BTW if you haven’t watched this interview yet DO IT!! you won’t regret it.😈 This leads me into my other theory/hope that Chloe’s admission prompts Luci to give her a mini prom at Lux by episodes end -fingers crossed;... & maybe a small peck on the forehead. Hey a girl can dream!

👏🏻Yassss👏🏻Queen!!👏🏻
When she explained why she was going with Pierce she said that Lucifer didn’t seem interested in hanging out with her…even though she knew what he had been doing.
So she was obviously a little hurt by Lucifer’s actions even though she understood them. In my mind she’s just tired of the back and forth with their relationship. They make progress, he gets scared, and then pushes her away. So I guess she said yes to Pierce as a way to protect herself in turn. Also she’s intimidated by Pierce so when he invited himself, she seemed pretty flustered and of course in that state answered yes. But I think whatever happens with Pierce she’s just protecting herself from the confusion and hurt she must feel with Lucifer.
Ildy said that they would actually be talking about their feelings soon. I am very much looking forward to that. It took a really long time to get here and I am so tired. 😓 But also eagerly anticipating Deckerstar’s continued growth.
Chloe still loves Lucifer and she wants to be with him, but she doesn’t want to be hurt anymore. Lucifer loves Chloe, but is right now too scared to admit it. I feel his confession coming soon though.
I’m going to say episode 19.

Lucifer, Candy, Chloe & Marriage
Lucifer doesn’t lie. He doesn’t always tell the whole truth either. But I have to think that when Lucifer says, “Meet Candy Morningstart, my wife,” there’s little room in that statement for a white lie. So I think Lucifer really married Candy, perhaps with an air-tight pre-nuputual agreement.
Now, what happens when Chloe goes undercover posing as Candy? Does Chloe introduce herself as Candy Morningstar, thus saving Lucifer from having to lie? Or will Lucifer actually marry Chloe?

Whether or not it's going to happen in 3x20, it's a great reason for a reveal scene. It's completely out of the list. They crossed out the things how we expected Lucifer will tell Chloe.
1.) He tells her because she deserved to know the most. Nope. That didn't work out in 3x01.
2.) He could just show his wings to her. That would be too easy. Besides, he doesn't define himself with his wings, he's still looking back at being the Devil.
3.) It's beyond his control, something else will show her the truth. Dunked in the trash by the dream sequence in High School Poppycock. This includes having no choice to unfurl his wings so he can save her and she'll see it.
There are others but these are the top three. In 3x20, we never thought of it and it's fantastic.
Lucifer's going to show Chloe the truth not because she's falling or in danger. In danger, yes, but in the context of being used and manipulated. How can he prove to her the Marcus is a conniving undying scumbag by showing her his wings and telling her everything. It's most likely there'd be no reveal but by now, it's Lucifer's top priority in protecting Chloe and her heart, and what a great reveal it would be when that's the drive that will get him to finally tell her.
(it also crossed my mind that another way other than the wings is for Lucifer to kill Marcus in front of Chloe and make her see he doesn't die, but that will make him look like a dick, even more so when he actually did kill him for real)

My spec is that I could see season 6 mirroring season 1 such as Lucifer finding what he has been looking for and Deckerstar after coming together and being what the other needed. Slowly going their own ways again.
Season 6 does indeed mirrors many aspects of Season 1 as far as we know, but we know only a limited number of things yet enough to come to that conclusion. As for Deckerstar Season 1 was them coming to trust each other and develop a steady relationship as partners at work. Now the same seems to happen in Season 6 as they are in a romantic relationship. Just because they are now together it does not mean that the credits will roll on that. On the contrary.

I just had a thought...
So in The Last Heartbreak there’s a murderer going after couples in love. So Pierce suggests that he and Chloe go undercover thinking ‘we’re secretly dating. We can pull that off.’
Chloe being the nice person she is who doesn’t defy her boss and is intimidated by her boss stammers out a yes.
But the murderer has already met Lucifer and Chloe and has observed (correctly) that they are in love. So the murderer goes after them.
The dinner from the promo is at the end and Pierce is annoyed because “obviously the murderer saw something between you two,” he says.
Chloe is like “Are you seriously jealous that a murderer went after me and my partner?”
Pierce: “No, I’m bothered by what that implies. Is there something going on between you two?”
Then she talks about their almost relationship and then Pierce asks “Do you still have feelings for him?”
And Chloe either dodges the question, says “I don’t know”, lies and says “No”, or the episode ends on her face having a thoughtful and unsure expression.
OR....
Alternatively he says “Is there something going on between you two?”
She explains and he says “Considering your history maybe it would be best if you two don’t work together anymore.”
And she doesn’t have that because Lucifer is her partner and if that is all she can have with him then she is going to have it, says “There is nothing between me and Lucifer. We are just friends and partners.”
Episode 19 is her facing her friends about her new relationship (“3rd guy at the precinct and my boss to boot. Man!”) and coming to grips with what that means and the fact that she isn’t happy with it because she does have feelings for Lucifer and what they had/have is yet unresolved. She probably breaks up with him by saying “There are some things I need to figure out. And it’s not fair to you to put you in the middle of it.”
