i keep telling myself that i won't be mean or bitter about it but tell me why i'm on the jily tag on ao3 searching specifically for first war fics and give up on page five after at least half a dozen reiterations of atyd (translations, alternate pov, fanfic of fanfic), three fics that are mainly jegulus and about ten that are mainly any other ship

Well, it seems like the Mastermind has similar motives to Junko doing this. By live streaming this event they will able to bring the entire public into "despair".While not to the extent as Junko(definitely NOT). I can see more like causing a divide between the public & police. You know general distrust, eventual rioting, etc
