“My friend Elias made me buy the Eminem cap, saying I can't act on his debut film if I don't have it. Most of the clothes I’m wearing right now were given to me by my lover and my favourite fashion designer Senni Mellin. The gloves are Exmantera, I thrifted the dress from Ahmed and the ugly bracelet is from Halle. I always get some ugly clothes from Halle, but I appreciate it. The bag is thrifted from somewhere between Tallinn and Warsaw.”

Top 5 or 10 Sonic characters who aren't from the games? (or aren't primarily from the games, I guess??)
Hard Mode: I'm not including Surge, Kit & Elias
10) Tekno the Canary - I've only read a smidge of Fleetway and just know her by proxy but I love her. Adorable design, smart tech-y girl, instantly loveable.
09) Saffron Bee - I just feel so bad for her & I think her story is really interesting from her perspective, a teenage girl engaged to become royalty (I can't remember if she was already a princess in her own right) but her home gets destroyed, her fiance captured, they get him back but he's reverted to a childlike state and become his caretaker - there were plans apparently to brutally kill her off?? and now she's fated to never be used again.
I just want this bee to be happy ;.;
08) Lara-Le & Wymacher - I love this little married couple. I'm glad Lara-Le's with someone who respects her, and I like Lara-Le as Knuckles mom, she seems like a nice spunky church lady mom.
07) Kneecaps - Kneecaps! Light of my life, taken from us too quickly. Deserves the world.
06) Anita/Tania the Hedgehog - I love the idea of Sonic having a baby sister so much. I guess Cream kinda takes that roll now? But never forget the OG
05) Manic & Sonia the Hedgehog - Love them both for different reasons. Manic being a chill punk dude with a tendency for kleptomania and Sonia a social debutant that will karate chop you. Sonic having a hedgehog family might not ever come back into play for him, but I hope if it does Manic & Sonia can be part of it.
04) Clutch the Opossum - I didn't get him at first but now I really love Clutch as a mainstay villain. If Eggman is bombastic and always upfront about his villainy - Clutch is more quiet and calculated. A seedy type that's up for a long con, and I think that's an interesting element to the franchise. I want to see what he does next.
03) Bunnie Rabbot - Bunny girl with a southern drawl, powerhouse moveset, body image issues, romance with a goofy man who drinks his respect women juice, has an artistic flare, sweet & sassy. Sometimes I feel like Bunnie was like made to appeal to me specifically.
02) Tangle the Lemur - The whole reason I decided to check out IDW Sonic was because I saw her (and then later Whisper's) design and thought "woah who is that? she looks cute!" and I still think she's immediately charming. She's fun, adventurous, silly, likes to punch, kind & loyal to her friends, what's not to like?
01) Cosmo - I've always liked Cosmo, I think she has a cute design, her more shy & reserved personality was a nice balance to the Sonic X cast. Even if she was always kinda fated to die, her resolve to sacrifice herself was really noble. I hope something can be worked out so Cosmo can come back in some form or another (like at least on some merch, like c'mon Sega!)
#important unimportant characters#samcybercat#responses#sonic#edit-I forgot about Sonic Boom and Sticks. So I guess Sticks can be an honorable mention

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND July 4, 2019 - SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, MIDSOMMAR, MARIANNE & LEONARD
It’s the 4thof July weekend, which is often the bane of my existence because I’m never invited to do anything with anyone. Fortunately, I’m going back to Ohio for the first time in nine months so I’ll be spending this 4thof July with family, and hopefully, that will include some movie-watching.
The movie I’m most excited about seeing again is SPIDERMAN: FAR FROM HOME (Sony), the sequel directed by Jon Watts that returns Tom Holland to the Spidey-suit and brings back all of his friends and classmates, as well as throwing Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio into the mix. You can read how much I enjoyed the movie in my review below, and also, check out my interview with the director, also below.
MY REVIEW OF SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME
INTERVIEW WITH JON WATTS ON THE BEAT
The other wide release this weekend is Ari Aster’s sophomore feature MIDSOMMAR (A24), starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor (Sing Street) and Will Poulter as a group of friends who travel to Sweden to observe a Midsommar ritual held by the community of their friend, but things are not what they seem. Before you can say “The Wicker Man,” they’re finding out the real intentions for their hosts.
Mini-Review: Like most, I loved Ari Aster’s Hereditary and saw it as the advent of a fantastic new vision in filmmaking and horror, specifically. Whenever a filmmaker delivers such an amazing debut, his or her follow-up is going to be eyed with equal parts anticipation and scrutiny, and that’s truly been the case with Midsommar.
Like Aster’s previous film, this one begins with the death of family members, in this case those of Florence Pugh’s Dani early on in the movie. Dani’s boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor from Sing Street) is ready to break up with Dani, because he can’t handle her family drama. At the same time, Christian has been invited by his friend Pelle (Vilhelm Blomgren) to go to his small Swedish community to take part in the Midsommar ritual along with friends Josh and Mark (Will Poulter). When Dani finds out about it and Christian invites her (think she’ll say “No’ – she doesn’t) – it soon becomes obvious Dani will be the fifth wheel threatening to bring down the mood. That’s okay because Pelle’s friendly community might have ulterior motives for the visitors.
There’s a lot to like about Midsommar, particularly Aster’s clever way of exploring The Wicker Man territory in a new way that offers terror and horror often in the brightest of daylight, an achievement in itself. Other than the film’s look and the production design that went into making it such a unique-looking visual film, it’s hard to ignore the fact that this is the exact same “stupid young people on vacation getting slaughtered” motif we’ve seen in so many horror films from Eli Roth’s Hostel movies to Touristas to so many more.
For the most part, Aster has another strong cast -- Florence Pugh is quite fantastic in a very different role, although she does a lot of crying in this movie. Jack Reynor could begin stepping into a few of Chris Pratt’s roles without anyone batting an eye, because he has similar rugged looks and charm. I actually liked Will Poulter’s obnoxious American to the point where when he mysteriously vanishes halfway through the movie, it loses quite a bit.
Beyond that, Midsommar explores some of the same themes Aster explored in his first movie, including death and grief and family squabbles with one character crying a lot, and of course, diabolical cult rituals and lots of nudity. Aster also use the same upside-down camera shot he used in Hereditary, which itself was borrowed from Darren Aronofsky. Maybe I’d have liked Midsommar more if it didn’t feel like Aster was retreading familiar territory. I do have to wonder if Aster has ever had therapy, because he certainly seems to have issues, maybe even with a sister, driving him to kill sisters in both his films?
Owing as much to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as the more obvious Wicker Man, MIdsommar is still not your typical horror movie by any means. If your favorite part of Hereditary was its crazy ending and you didn’t think it was crazy enough, then Midsommar is the movie for you!
Rating: 7/10
LIMITED RELEASES
Because it’s the 4thof July this week, we’re getting far fewer limited releases but I do want to call attention to a couple docs opening this week.
But first, I want to draw attention to a movie that opened at the Film Forum last week, Lila Avilés’ The Chambermaid, an amazing portrait of a Mexican maid in a high-end hotel as she goes through the day-to-day while trying to achieve her goals and dreams, all which seem to move further and further away. I was a fan of last year’s Romaand though The Chambermaid is a different type of movie, it features another amazing performance by an indigenous Mexican, Gabriela Cartol, who had appeared in a couple other movies before, but she really keeps the viewer drawn to the movie and the things that she goes through. At times, it feels like there’s no way for her to fulfill those dreams, and it’s something to which we can all relate.
A doc that’s a must see for all Leonard Cohen fans is Nick Broomfield’s MARIANNE & LEONARD: WORDS OF LOVE (Roadside Attractions), an amazing look at the relationship between Cohen and Marianne Ihlen, the Norwegian woman with whom he lived on the isle of Hydra in Greece, one of his early muses and the inspiration for the song “Goodbye, Marianne.” It’s an amazing film by the award-winning documentarian that has a lot of revelations, including the fact that Broomfield as friends with Marianne going back to the ‘60s, making him the perfect filmmaker to tackle the subject. It opens in select cities including the Angelika Film Center in New York Friday.
Opening at the IFC Center in New York is Rob Fruchtman and Steve Lawrence’s The Cat Rescuers about New York City’s 500,000 street cats and a group of volunteers who go through Brooklyn getting these cats fixed and returning them to their colonies or getting them adopted. It’s a movie that cat lovers will probably enjoy similar to the film Kedi from a few years back, but it’s also kind of sad when you realize that some of this cat population will have to be put down, because cats are adorable and you don’t want them to die.
Opening at the City Cinemas Village East in New York almost two years since premiering at TIFF is Tali Shalom-Ezer’s My Days of Mercy, starring Ellen Page and Amy Seimetz (Pet Sematary) as sisters Lucy and Martha who attend state executions to demonstrate against the death penalty. At one such event, Lucy meets Mercy (Kate Mara), the daughter of a police officer whose partner was killed by a man about to be put to death. They quickly bond before Lucy confesses that her own father (Elias Koteas) is on Death Row.
The only other limited release this weekend is Frédéric Petitjean’s directorial debut Cold Blood (Screen Media), starring Jean Reno as Henry, a hitman who is living in a cabin by a lake in the Rocky Mountains when he encounters a young woman who survived a snowmobile accident and has to decide whether to save her life. It opens in select cities and On Demand Friday.
STREAMING AND CABLE
There aren’t any big movie releases on Netflix this weekend but that’s because Season 3 of Stranger Things will premiere on the 4thof July, and I expect many people will be spending the early part of the weekend watching that.
REPERTORY
METROGRAPH (NYC):
Unfortunately, I missed something last week in terms of repertory series at the Metrograph as I didn’t realize that former Village Voice critic J. Hoberman was doing another series in conjunction with his latest bookMake My Day: Movie Culture in the Age of Reagan. The series Reagan at the Movies: Found Illusionsincludes a mixed array of films including 1951’s The Day the Earth Stood Still, a new restoration of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Clint Eastwood’s Firefox (1983), Hal Ashby’s Being There(1979) starring Peter Sellers and more!
Also on Wednesday, Metrograph will be premiering a special 20thanniversary restoration of Takashi Miike’s horror classic Audition, which I think is so perfect for the remake treatment due to the #MeToo movement and its implications. Can you imagine how well a revenge thriller about a young woman getting revenge on sleazy movie producer types would go over in this day and age? Call me, Jason Blum!
This week’s Late Nites at Metrograph is Penelope Spheeris’ Suburbia (1983) while the Playtime: Family Matinees is Robert Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988).
THE NEW BEVERLY (L.A.):
Weds has a special matinee screening of the Bond film From Russia With Love (1963) and Tarantino’s theater isn’t taking off on the 4th of July. In fact, it’s holding a special event screening of Red Dawn (1984) and Rocky IV (1985) (You might notice a theme there… USA! USA!) Weds and Thursday are also double features of The Happening (1967) with Anthony Quinn and Land Raiders (1970), starring Telly Savalas. The Friday/Saturday double features are the 1966 sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage with 100 Rifles. The weekend’s KIDDE MATINEE is the Disney classic The Love Bug (1968), while Friday’s midnight screening is Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Saturday at midnight is a 35mm print of Richard Rush’s Getting Straight (1970), starring Elliot Gould and Candice Bergen. Sunday and Monday is a double feature of Dean Martin’s Murderer’s Row (1966) with Ann-Margret’s Kitten with a Whip (1964).
FILM FORUM (NYC):
Elaine May’s Mikey and Nicky (1976) gets a new 4k restoration that begins on Friday, plus May’s 1971 film A New Leaf will also screen through the weekend. The restoration of Jennie Livingston’s Paris Burning continues to play through the weekend, while the Film Forum will also continue showing Elaine May’s Ishtar and the Coen’s The Big Lebowski through the 4thof July.
EGYPTIAN THEATRE (LA):
The Friday after the 4thof July sees a double feature of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) and Hard Ticket to Hawaii (1987), co-presented by Beyond Fest. Saturday is a screening of the classic Lawrence of Arabia (1962) in 70mm, while Sunday sees a double feature of The Return of the Living Dead (1985) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986).
AERO (LA):
Oh, look… Spielberg’s Jaws is playing here, too… but on Wednesday. Director Peter Hunt will be on hand Friday to screen his movie musical 1776 (1972). On Saturday, you can see a double feature of Jaws 3-D (1983) and A*P*E (1976), co-presented by Cinematic Void, and on Sunday is a Baseball Double Feature of 1993’s The Sandlot and Penny Marshall’s A League of Their Own (1992), both in 35mm!
MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE (NYC):
MOMI is having another screening of Stephen Frears’ My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), starring Daniel Day Lewis on Saturday, wrapping up Grit and Glitter: Before and After Stonewall. This weekend’s See It Big! Action movies are Robocop (1987) on Friday and the Wachowskis’ The Matrix on Saturday and Sunday.
QUAD CINEMA (NYC):
Opening on Friday is a 4k restoration of the Director’s Cut of Daniel Vigne’s The Return of Martin Guerre (1982), starring Gerard Depardieu.
ROXY CINEMA (NYC)
On Saturday, you can see Alfred Hitchcock’s terror masterpiece Psycho (1960) on the big screen again!
LANDMARK THEATRES NUART (LA):
Friday’s midnight screening is Tommy Wiseau’s midnight movie “classic” The Room (2003).
Next week, things slow down with two lower-profile films, the comedy Stuber, starring Kumhail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista, and the alligator horror film Crawl, from Alexandra Aja and Sam Raimi.

Review: Ain't Misbehavin', Southwark Playhouse
First published: https://www.ayoungertheatre.com/review-aint-misbehavin-southwark-playhouse/
By Alexandra Wilbraham
The joint is jumping and the swing is sizzling at the Southwark Playhouse which sees itself transformed into a dazzling 1920s jazz club playing host to a musical revue inspired by the music of legendary jazz musician Thomas “Fats” Waller, chandeliers, live band and all.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ isn’t a traditional musical. There is no linear storyline and the little scripted dialogue is inconsequential when set against the power of Waller’s songs. Although I do warm to the concertlike appeal I still miss a few pointers towards Waller’s personal life and the stories behind his songs.
Designer Takis envelops you in a gold and copper setting, offering a beautiful backdrop for the amazing band made up of Elias Jordan Atkinson on the trumpet, Mebrakh Haughton-Johnson on clarinet and saxophone, Ruben Ramos Medina on bass and Blake Cascoe on drums, who, although not on stage, makes his presence known from behind the sequins.
Debuting to critical acclaim at the Manhattan Theatre Club’s East 73rd Street cabaret a good 40 years ago, Ain’t Misbehavin’ has lost none of its zing and crowd-pleasing energy.
Giving his directorial debut, acclaimed actor Tyrone Huntley guides the production with a loose lead letting the songs inform most of the performance’s tempo. Nonetheless, he displays a level of maturity in keeping the energy up even when the wild vibes of group numbers such as ‘The Joint is Jumpin’’ drop into more melancholy lamentations. Huntley knows his cast well, perfectly balancing each actor’s talents against the others’ as sultry solos meet perfect comedic timing.
Together with Strictly Come Dancing favourite Oti Mabuse, Huntley adds his own streak of originality to this musical celebration. A dance floor pro, Ain’t Misbehavin’ is Mabuse’s first outing as a musical theatre choreographer. Her joy of dancing shines through on stage as she organically interweaves different styles from the bubbly jitterbug and sparkling swing to a sensual strutting.
The cast’s ensemble performances are vivacious, but it is the solo numbers that draw you in. Renée Lamb’s rendition ‘Squeeze Me’ is infused with sensual desire and in ‘Find Out What They Like’ her sexual suggestiveness adds a liberating raunchiness to the performance.
Carly Mercedes Dyer delivers her big solo love song with entrancing ease and lends her comedic talents to numbers such as ‘Yacht Club Swing’, endearing her to the audience with a ditzy innocence.
Landi Oshinowo impresses both while basking in the sultry luxury of ‘Honeysuckle Rose’ as well as when stumbling around the stage with a little more than her first martini in hand during ‘Jitterbug Waltz’.
Adrian Hansel gives a roaring performance with ‘Your Feet’s Too Big’ before joining Wayne Robinson in an audience singalong of ‘Fat and Greasy’. The velvet suits which both men don during the second half give me a serious sense of envy.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ doesn’t just boast song and dance but offers up some deeply evocative moments. Robinson gets to strut his stuff in the steamy and sinuous ‘The Viper’s Drag’. ‘Black and Blue’ creates a more serious moment, as the cast, staged gospel-like alongside the band, send goose-bumps up and down my forearms with some heart-stopping harmonies.
Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a wild and raucous ride from start to finish. I exit the theatre with a spring in my step and, although it takes me an hour longer to get home because I got on the wrong train, I am left dancing along the pavement lit by the soft glow of streetlights. If you want to leave a performance with pure joy in your heart, the Southwark Playhouse is serving up something just for you.

Full transcript under the cut if you don’t feel like going to the link!
How did the phrase,”Walk With Elias,” come to be?
Originally in NXT, I was the drifter, walking from town to town, hearing stories and telling stories with my music. As the drifter kept growing, it was just a question I had to ask everybody, Who wanted to walk with the drifter? So, when I got to Monday Night Raw that carried over, just now, I am Elias, as opposed to the drifter.
Were you a wrestling fan growing up?
Yes, I was a big wrestling fan. I’ve been watching for as long as I can remember.
Who were some of your favorite wrestlers growing up?
Growing up, I was into Macho Man Randy Savage and Jake the Snake. Of course I was into Shawn Michaels. He was probably my favorite of all-time. As I got older I liked Kurt Angles, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. These guys were my favorite to watch.
I was watching Raw 25 again the other day and I have to say 2 of the most memorable moments involved you with Chris Jericho and then you smashing a guitar over John Cena. How cool was it for you to have both of those segments in that show?
Of course it was. Raw 25 was one of the most watched Raw’s at least of this year and to be such a vocal point of a show that was so important says a lot about the company and what they think of me. For myself, it was fantastic to be that focused on that show.
I was in New Orleans for Wrestlemania, but missed your surprise show on Bourbon Street. Can you talk about just how special that week was for yourself?
The entire week of Wrestlemania was really special. It was actually my first time in New Orleans. I got to do a small concert on Bourbon Street with music that will eventually be released on iTunes and on my debut album. So, I got to surprise a bunch of people there and do a concert. That went over fantastically. Then, to be a part of Wrestlemania, to come out there and steal a moment from the Undertaker and get into the mix with John Cena and then the Monday Night Raw after with the great crowd, it was just something.
You already touched on what I was going to ask next, if there is an album in the future for Elias?
Yeah, it’s absolutely in the works. I’ve recorded a few songs already. It’s all about putting the final touches on it and getting it out there.
Will WWE fans see Elias in the hunt for a title anytime soon?
You know what, when I feel like it, yes, I’ll start getting in the mix for titles. In the meantime, I’m performing, I’m putting on concerts and it’s going fantastic.
One of the coolest things about your character is the t-shirts. I can remember walking around New Orleans and people would just start yelling “Who Wants to Walk With Elias” anytime someone had your shirt on. What went into coming up with the shirts and did you have some say so in how they looked?
Yes, absolutely I had some say so in how they looked. I just want them to look like classic rock concert t-shirts but with an Elias vibe. It has the WWE logo, Walk with Elias is what I’m talking about there. Now, we got people that work on that who are above me and do the design, but I have final say on it. I really do like the t-shirts that are put out.
What musicians are you a fan of?
I’m a big fan of Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Steven Tyler is probably my favorite singer. Jimi Hendrix is a great guitar player, Stevie Ray Vaughn is a great guitar player. I’m into those guys and a lot of classic rock. I’m newly into some country guys like Eric Church and Chris Stapleton.
When you’re cutting a promo, how much of it is script and how much of it can you have free will to go off of?
I’ve been given an incredible amount of freedom to just do and say what I want and what I feel. I always have points I want to get across, there’s no doubt about that. It’s really all depending upon the crowd that night.
What has been the biggest obstacle in making the transition from NXT to Raw?
Nothing, there’s not been any obstacle. It’s just been fantastic ever since. I’ve been getting more time to show who I am and my personality. As far as I’m concerned it’s great.
What made you want to become a sports entertainer/wrestler?
When I was a kid, I was just super into Shawn Michaels. I thought, man, that’s the coolest guy. He had a cool entrance and all the girls loved him. I just thought, what a life that would be, and it started from that point on.
Are you surprised with how over your character is with the WWE universe?
Nope, not at all man. I’ve always believed in myself. How I see it, I’m the best thing going in WWE today, so it’s no surprise to me.
Do you think we will be seeing a “face turn” for Elias anytime soon?
Man, you got all the insider terms in the world don’t you. Listen, whatever the crowd decides to do, that’s what I’m going to go with. It’s not going to change who I am as a person. I just take it week by week and crowd by crowd.
How much of your character is based off of your own personality?
99% man.
When you go out there every night, as wrestling fan, are you just having fun out there?
That’s it, yeah. That’s all it is man. I’ve got the best gig in the world. I’ve wanted to be here my whole life and now I am. I get to go out there and do my thing. It feels very natural.
Well, thanks for your time. I look forward to seeing you on Raw. I think you’re the best thing going in WWE right now.
Well, you’re right about that man. Thank you.
#I love that he gets some input into his shirt designs!#elias samson#wwe raw#grateful yet still delightfully conceited hipster werewolf boyfriend#walk with elias

“Watch This Show, Dudes” The UFC 223 preview
Joey
April 1st, 2018
Fights: 13
Debuts: 1 (Mike Rodriguez)
Fight Changes/Injury Cancellations: 1 (Mairbek Taisumov OUT, Olivier Aubin Mercier IN vs Evan Dunham)
Headliners (fighters who have either main evented or co-main evented shows in the UFC): 16 (Tony Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Rose Namajunas, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Anthony Pettis, Michael Chiesa, Al Iaquinta, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Felice Herrig, Ray Borg, Brandon Moreno, Joe Lauzon, Evan Dunham, Alex Caceres, Artem Lobov, Bec Rawlings)
Fighters On Losing Streaks in the UFC: 5 (Bec Rawlings, Joe Lauzon, Chris Gruetzmacher, Alex Caceres, Artem Lobov)
Fighters On Winning Streaks in the UFC: 9 (Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Rose Namajunas, Calvin Kattar, Al Iaquinta, Paul Felder,Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Felice Herrig, Zabit Magomedsharipov)
Main Card Record Since Jan 1st 2016 (in the UFC): 21-6
Tony Ferguson- 3-0 Khabib Nurmagomedov- 3-0 Renato Moicano- 3-0 Calvin Kattar- 2-0 Michael Chiesa- 2-1 Anthony Pettis- 2-4 Al Iaquinta- 1-0 Paul Felder- 5-1
Too High Up- Karolina Kowalkawiecz vs Felice Herrig
I get it I get it. The winner of this fight could in theory be the #1 contender given the dearth of options at 115 lbs. Karolina K has a rivalry with Joanna and a win over Rose Namajunas so she's a natural fit. Felice Herrig is not the world's most exciting fighter by any stretch of the imagination but she has a pretty sizable winning streak going and has a cult-ish following-ish out there. Here's the problem; this division doesn't produce many finishes if at all. It's a dry division when it comes to fight finishes as evidenced by its recent stretch of split decisions and so-so fights. This is the prelim headliner to get us into the PPV. You probably want a really exciting back and forth fight or a killer finish to get us into the PPV all hot and bothered. It's just not going to happen here chances are. I get putting it on the FS1 prelims but I'd prefer a different headliner.
Too Low- Zabit Magomedsharipov vs Kyle Bochniak
So let's talk about Zabit Magomedsharipov right quick. He's a really talented 145er. It would not be a stretch to suggest that Magomedsharipov right NOW is a top 10 featherweight just without the wins to prove it. He can wrestle, he's a funky flashy striker and when it's on the ground, he's just swamping dudes with ease. He hasn't been tested yet which is why Kyle Bochniak, the sort of dude who can live as a high level gatekeeper, is a great matchup for him. The problem? Magomedsharipov is not blessed with the sort of personality that sells and has no home market to go to where he's insanely marketable. Making matters worse is he's the ultimate low reward high risk for a fighter in an era where fighters are choosier than ever before. As such, he's buried on the prelims on Fight Pass. I know Magomedsharipov is a no sell type of fighter but you HAVE to at least try. Put him on FS1.
Stat Monitor for 2018: Debuting Fighters (Current number: 7-11): Mike Rodriguez
Short Notice Fighters (Current number: 7-3): Olivier Aubin Mercier
Second Fight (Current number: 9-10):
Cage Corrosion (Current number: 5-9): Al Iaquinta
Undefeated Fighters (Current number: 12-9): Khabib Nurmagomedov
Twelve Precarious Ponderings
1- What is a fair buyrate for this event? This is Khabib's first shot as a headliner in any capacity (although he did co-main the NYE card) so right off the jump, we're in uncharted waters. Tony Ferguson has headlined events in the past and his first PPV fight vs a guy with no real name value did in the low 200K range. Joanna Champion as a co-main event has been apart of some major shows but without the BIG main event, she's been a comfortable support for events that do in the 300K range. This isn't the big numbers of 2015 and 2016 either so what's a fair buy rate? I'm thinking low 300Ks would be a success for this show. This is an awesome card people SHOULD be excited for. If they're not excited for it then I just dunno what to say to y'all, man.
2- On a scale of 1-10, how likely is it that Conor faces the winner?
3- What can be said of this main event? I don't think it's unrealistic to refer to Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov as the most proven pure talent fight since Garbrandt vs Dillashaw back in November. It might even blow by that fight as well. There's seriously no title fight I've been as excited for as this one; Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson is the title fight that MMA fans have been waiting for for the most part since the end of 2016. Khabib vs T-Ferg features the best wrestler at 155 lbs vs the division's most compelling submission grappler. Two of the best cardio machines in the entire UFC clashing over five rounds, both with punishing styles in their own capacities. So much is made of Khabib's wrestling but the fact is that his striking on the feet is no joke either. Khabib can generate power in short distances and he's got this weird smothered forearm-y thing that he uses from time to time which does some damage (he kind of buzzed Thiago Tavares with one prior to the finish). On the other hand, Tony Ferguson is sort of the total package without the fight finishing one shit one kill power. He just overwhelms and overworks dudes with volume, intensity, a variety of attacks from a variety of different angles and a total "Not give a fuck" style of fighting. Get taken down? Whatevs. Get mounted? Whatevs. Get rocked? Whatevs. Ferguson is just one of those guys who has a tremendous belief in himself with the ability It's not entirely unrealistic to refer to this as a battle of stubborn (Khabib Nurmagomedov) vs creativity (Tony Ferguson). Khabib has a gameplan and he's going to try to implement it whereas Tony Ferguson seems like the sort of guy who ha sno idea what he plans on doing from one second to the next. He's the sort of dude who can make reads on the fly, adjust and adapt and find new ways to flummox a dude over the course of a twenty five minute fight. Making matters even more complicated is we have no idea if we've seen the best version of either guy yet.
4- Can Ferguson get Khabib's neck ONE time and if so, is that all he'll need?
5- We know that Ferguson can get taken down. Kevin Lee, Danny Castillo, Yves Edwards all found ways to get Ferguson down even if just momentarily. He's very comfortable and adept in scrambles and I get the feeling even vs Khabib, he's not going to panic if he winds up on his back for a stretch of time. My question is----will Ferguson be willing to get taken down if it puts him in position to challenge with submissions? Against Danny Castillo, Ferguson was taken down quite a bit but always seemed to use that to chase a d'arce or a guillotine choke. If desperate, will Ferguson be willing to wrestle to try and find a submission attempt? Similarly what are Khabib's submission chops? He had opportunities I felt against Barboza to score a sub. I remember him having a shot or two against Darrell Horcher as well. Could he sub Ferguson?
6- It sounds like it was Joanna's idea to try to reclaim her title vs Rose Namajunas again. It's not the worst idea in the world but given her struggles with weight, why even risk it? You have to at least admire Joanna's heart and fighting spirit to give it another go at a weight class she's clearly uncomfortable with going forward.
7- I don't know if this is by design or what but I like the idea of using the 3rd fight on these cards to try and showcase a potential future star. It's somewhat slick; putting them in a PPV card in a high capacity spot where you can, in theory, showcase them to a new audience. It's an imperfect act that at least has some purpose behind it. Sean O'Malley at UFC 222 was a good use of the concept, same for Tai Tuivasa I suppose at 221. If the UFC website is to be believed then Dern is third on the PPV card for UFC 224 as well. Here you have Calvin Kattar, who has been ultra impressive through two UFC fights, getting the 3rd billing vs the fantastic Renato Moicano. It's a really good FW fight and with Ortega and Holloway mowing through every 145er on two legs; the winner of this fight could get a quick bump up. Moicano probably has had the most success of anybody vs Ortega so a rematch would be pretty juicy.
8- If you had to describe Anthony Pettis' legacy in one word, what would you use?
9- The UFC tends to be a pretty reactive organization when it comes to problems with fighters but some of the labor hawks they've had on their roster tend to not get much blowback. I wonder if that'll change with Al Iaquinta who by all accounts they really don't like. If he loses, it might get a touch awkward.
10- Mike Rodriguez has a lot of pressure on his shoulders after Magomed Anakaleav's failure in his UFC debut. 205 needs more guys getting their careers off on the right foot and Rodriguez can be another guy in that mix, fresh off of a 30 second DWTCS win. Trains with Joe Lauzon, has a 9-2 record and could be valuable as an East Coast attraction going forward.
11- Can somebody at 115 lbs please finish a fight? I'm not asking for too much here!
12- The failures of the likes of Elias Thoeodoru and Hakeem Dawodu turns the attention back to Olivier Aubin-Mercier as the young fighter by whom Canada turns its lonely eyes to. There's no doubt Olivier Aubin-Mercier can grapple as he's found plenty of success on the mat with four submission wins in his six UFC wins----but the problem is what happens when the grappling doesn't work. Mercier has showcased solid striking in the past but it's so infrequent and inconsistent that it's hard to really get a feel for how good he is. There's an element of panic to his game. Sometimes he doesn't respond well to pressure in his face and his first inclination is to grab at something and hope like hell the fight goes to the ground. Evan Dunham has only been submitted once in his UFC career, vs Donald Cerrone in a fight where he was pretty much dead on the feet at that point. This is a really good test for OAM.
Must Win
1- Tony Ferguson
I LOVE Tony Ferguson as a fighter and wish more people loved him. I even enjoy his stupid zany off the wall madness that he tends to produce outside of the cage. In a sport searching for guys who are "different", Ferguson is different and he's just so weird. On the other hand, it's obvious to me that the UFC doesn't see Ferguson the way I do----and perhaps the fans see him in the same spectrum the UFC does. Ferguson is not the chosen one at 155 lbs; that would be Khabib Nurmagomedov who may be the key to some Russian windfall. Ferguson is a bit like RDA; reliable and dependable but not "the guy" as the uFC attempts to find out who "the guy" at 155 lbs is. Ferguson needs to not be like every other Khabib opponent or risk the long road back that RDA had.
2- Michael Chiesa
So there's a little bit of an issue here with Michael Chiesa. Chiesa is clearly a good fighter and he's the kind of guy who can rack up win after win vs the mid levels of the division. Wins over Jim Miller, Beneil Dariush and Al Iaquinta (before he developed into the fighter he is today) suggest he can be one of the best fighters at 155 lbs. That said, every single time he gets a step up, he gets quickly checked back to base level. Losses to Masvidal, Joe Lauzon and Kevin Lee all put him back to trying to prove himself in a division where a backwards step can be a killer. THIS is the sort of fight that Chiesa has to win; it's a somewhat faded version of a guy who has become more of a struggling grappler over the past few years. This is a fight he pretty much has to win if he plans on really making a run at 155 lbs.
3- Karolina Kowalkiewicz
I really like Karolina K. I think it says a lot about you as a person if you DON'T like Karolina K. She's a fun fighter who has good action fights and has this great personality. The downside is that after wins over the likes of Rose Namajunas and Randa Markos, she lost two straight to the very good Claudia Gadelha and then champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk. She rebounded vs Jodie Esquibel but whether Esquibel is UFC quality remains to be seen at this point. Karolina gets Felice Herrig in what is on paper a UFC title contender fight.
Five Can't Miss Fights
1- Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
2- Zhabit Magomedsharipov vs Kyle Bochniak
3- Joanna Jedrzejcyk vs Rose Namajunas
4- Paul Felder vs Al Iaquinta
5- Ray Borg vs Brandon Moreno

Dear friends, for the next three weeks OfHouses invites you to discover seven “Solo Albums”: projects designed by sole-practitioners who have previously produced architecture only as part of a famous group or bigger firm. Under the headline “David Gilmour or Pink Floyd?”, a 1978 advertisement wrote: “People think that Pink Floyd has a new album out. They’re almost right. David Gilmour is the voice and the guitar of Pink Floyd. His first solo album is what people have been hearing.” In an interview with Circus in 1978, Gilmour said: "This album [David Gilmour] was important to me in terms of self-respect. At first I didn't think my name was big enough to carry it. Being in a group for so long can be a bit claustrophobic, and I needed to step out from behind Pink Floyd's shadow." Gilmour’s first solo album was not a masterpiece; nor Gilmour, otherwise an outstanding musician, has ever been able to outdo Roger Waters or Syd Barret as the singer-guitarist of Pink Floyd. Gilmour’s self-titled album is quite boring and doesn’t count too much on originality. Some tracks are better than the usual Floyd, some are worst. Only the most fanatic of the Pink Floyd devotees remember it. Otto Rothmayer was Jože Plečnik‘s student and long-term collaborator. Plečnik‘s brilliant interventions on the Prague Castle would have been impossible without Rothmayer’s involvement. Rothmayer never escaped his master’s influence (and, perhaps, he never even tried). Rothmayer‘s own House in Břevnov (1929) is an (almost) exact replica of Plečnik‘s “Villa Stadion” (1928). Still, with minimal alterations, the "Rothmayer Villa” completely overshadows its original. Iannis Xenakis worked with Le Corbusier on the “Convent of Sainte Marie de La Tourette” (1956-60) and was the principal architect of the outstanding “Philips Pavilion” (1958). Xenakis left his master’s atelier to pursue a successful career as an experimental musical composer; he never abandoned architecture, but didn’t built much. His “Villa Mâche“ (1966) is one-third corbusian, one-third vernacular and one-third something else. Gian Pierro Frassinelli was one of the members of the Italian avant-garde radical group Superstudio. Superstudio was of course famous for their paper architectures, films and performances. It is very difficult to discern the authorship of their built work; the only certainty is that their few completed interiors and buildings were still a group effort. Frassinelli‘s “Taddei House“ (1976) is perhaps the first to claim the sole-authorship and marked the split of the group. Steven Izenour co-authored “Learning from Las Vegas” and always worked along Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown. The “Izenour House” (1984), produced inside the VSBA partnership, is however Izenour‘s own work. It is not better, nor worst than VSBA’s designs of the period. Just like with Gilmour’s album, you are “almost right” to consider it a Venturi & Scoot Brown genuine design. Elia Zenghelis was a founding partner of OMA, along Rem Koolhaas, Madelon Vriesendorp and Zoe Zenghelis. Zenghelis’ role was incremental to OMA’s first decade, from “Exodus” (1972) to the competition for the “Parc de la Villette” (1982). His “Villa Chalkiades“ (1989) retains the cadavre-exquis collage quality of the “Dutch Parliament Extension” (1978) or the “Irish Prime Minister Residence” (1979); still, Rem’s absence is felt oh so clearly. Xaveer de Geyter’s role was similarly incremental to OMA in the 80′s and early 90′s. The “Zeebrugge Ferry Terminal” (1988), “ZKM Karlsruhe” (1989), “Très Grande Bibliothèque” (1989) and the “Villa dal’Ava” (1984-91) would have been inconceivable without the work of de Geyter. The “House in Brasschaat” (1993), his second built work after he left OMA, is so much better than OMA’s “Dutch House” (1995), that one starts to wonder who influenced who when working on a similar program (suburban bourgeois villa), on matching uneven topographies and with similar privacy constraints. Finally, Herzog & de Meuron’s work in the 90′s would not be the same without Harry Gugger. HdeM’ s masterpieces, from the “Signal boxes I and II” (1994/1999) to the “Eberswalde University Library” (1999), the “Tate Modern" (1995-2000) and the “Laban Dance Centre" (1998-2003), all bear Gugger’s signature along his two now more-than-famous partners. The “House in Bruderholz” (1995), Gugger’s first solo work, is somewhat disappointing at first, by not relying on HdeM’s trademarks such as innovative building techniques and experimental finishes. Still, the apparently boring Swiss box works like a charm; its crystal clear ingenious organization of the program makes it instantly unforgettable. The Ancient Magus' Bride Manga Impression - Sparda's Lounge
youtube
The Ancient Magus Bride is a series that I took interest without knowing people’s opinions. The first volume cover left me intrigued, yet I don’t really know why. It could be the artwork or how it was addressed to be whimsical. It made me curious enough to pick up and read. I owe all the volumes that are currently released at this time, with an included bonus. With the advent of the anime debut, I am anticipated to see how this universe will translate. That all said what is it about this series that compels the audience that will soon expand significantly. Let’s take a closer look into this magical world of a bride.
Story
A sixteen-year-old Hatori Chise is a poor lost soul in an empty shell of her former self. She has no family to return to, no friends to seek for help, and no hope for ever receiving a gentle life. Auctioned out like an object, a Magus named Ainsworth Elias buys her out and offers her a new beginning. Despite his appearance leans towards a demon than human, Chise may have found a new path to light that she has longed seeking for. Will she find it?
I have to come out and say it. First and foremost, this is not an action series. I appreciated the thrill of the anime trailer, but people shouldn’t think this as an explosive action genre. It is a slice of life series that explores the entity of its universe. The magical beings like fairies, the alchemy use for experiments, and the exploration of characters. It’s similar to another series, Natsume: Book of Friends, even the concept. Both protagonists can see mythical creatures, but no one else can, and they are miserable by it. It’s quite similar; only this one is Shounen.
I can’t help but think that because of this series is adapted by Wit Studio some would assume that it is action heavy. Going by my research, the studio has worked on plenty of action genre recently with very few other different genre projects. Seraph of the End, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and the most notable one, Attack on Titan. I was surprised that they will be the one to adapt this, so I am hoping people can understand the actual nature of the series; as they should.
There are plenty of majestic materials to explore in a well-developed lore. It covers the small yet significant aspect, because it wants to exploit that life is precious with cherish memories. Even in the darkest time, the light will glow. Step-by-step, the transformation becomes apparent and it is rewarding. It takes its time to give you a reason to care, even for a simple task that should be easily dealt with yet challenging for the fallen one. The more it progresses, the more you start to wish more happiness along the way.
There is a main plot behind it as well, antagonist and all, but it will arrive when it is ready to exploit. It is slice of life first, plot later, and it’s not a bad thing. Once you begin to understand its world, it will take you for a deeper journey. It’s appealing with its sheer nature. It may take time to develop as it carefully explains the lore detail-by-detail, but you eventually will start feeling right at home.
Characters
Chise is the protagonist, so naturally the focus of her is to regain humanity. She starts off looking like a lifeless doll, but regains life as many depths explored. It doesn’t take long for her to appear differently, which is good since I could imagine people wouldn’t like a lifeless or robotic character for a protagonist. It’s not that she will transform immediately; it portrays that one piece of humanity can make a massive difference than nothing at all.
She’s a character that has my full attention; because the narrative drags us to feel like we are learning again. How to be gentle, how to help others, how to understand the environment, how to live again. She doesn’t stay mute or broken for long, so the more she developed, the more you begin to connect. You understand her lessons, hardships, and cold reality the more she begins to feel human again.
She will start off clingy to Elias, but understandably so. It’s not because of romantic love, at least not yet maybe. It’s the feeling of opportunity to relive again under his offering. She grows more at home and become more independent to her own decisions and actions. It only made me feel proud, but worried. She is a gentle character that slowly learns to cherish life and feel the change that she long waited for.
Elias is a mysterious creature. While there are plenty of missing holes to fill in with his background and agenda to “rescue” Chise, let alone marrying her in the future, he is pretty amusing. He can look menacing by design, but charming and comical when called for one. He is best described as a man-child or a child in a man-sized demon body. He can be thoughtful and wise in many cases, but his curiosity is seen like a child.
What evaluates the chemistry between him and her is the fascination of understanding their worlds. Chise is regaining life within her as well as adapting to the supernatural environment with magical entity as Elias is teaching her the basics and explore depth of humanity. Essentially, they develop the student-teacher relationship as both play both roles, creating a pleasant bond. Elias can be intimidating, but it makes you wish that he could handle himself better. He’s charming and smart, but then, he has flaws that wish to be erased.
There are other kind characters that add more to its environment. It may not have everyone involved with the main plot, but for slice of life, it can bring in the heartwarming foundation. Like Silky, the housekeeper, for example; there’s a chapter that is nearly completely mute, but it has a good amount of meaningful display that set the tone of depression but ends on a tender note. That alone had me surprisingly touched by her character.
There are many more to explore, including the one that will only show up once in a while and many if not all are kindhearted. Excluding the antagonist; at least from what I have read so far. Even there are characters that should be evil or cruel, but there’s more to them than their initial impression. It could be from humans, fairies, or even demons. As slice of life goes, it nails the core of its nature.
Content
Despite the writing is slice of life style, it does contain action with the use of magic elements and science such as alchemy. The series does a swell job to explain each of its lore functionality. There will be items that put a special cast, there will be set of rules of tributes and limitations, and there will be many different ways for whimsical use.
Because Chise is learning magic for the first time, we start from the basic and progress further to the more advanced stage at a steady pace. Elias is the teacher, so we are following the lessons along with her. It leaves us enough time to digest the functionality and begin to appreciate its lore. While there are more potential for other type of magic, so far, it has been done in a compelling way. Even a simple magic use such as Link to Mind and Memory can be demonstrated in a meaningful connection. There is alchemy use as well, though it’s done by side characters, so it’s not highly focus. When it does explore, it is interesting to say the least.
I have once heard that the world building and the use of magic can be described as Harry Potter-esque. In my opinion, it does seem that way, regardless of obvious differences. There may be no school as of this time, but it certainly has the learning process. That all said the use of magic in the action scenery is done in a slow and steady process for the most part; meaning that it won’t be as frenzy as battle shounen series.
As mentioned before, the trailer portrayed it as intense and fast paced. While it can be intense, it is not the main objective to be explosive. You can’t expect the action to be on the caliber of Full Metal Alchemist, Fairy Tail, or Black Clover. It plays more on the emotional and tensed aspect, which could be a breaking point of that character’s action. It’s nothing wrong with the said series and its action pace; it’s not this series’ protocol.
My favorite perk is how much of an emotional impact it has towards the character; whether it is from Chise, Elias, or anyone in general. By the time the main plot begins, you already gain enough senses of who they are and what they are capable of. It has that great sense of accomplishment of what they have learned and at what price they paid. The saddest time can bring in the rewarding feeling because not only you learned the morality, but the character grows with you.
The cooperation of its world with magic and alchemy and real life aspects are profound. We can learn a deep meaningful lesson as well as escaping reality to its world. Despite the title with bride in it, the romance isn’t really focused; it is taking its time to develop the chemistry and perhaps one day, it will. It is appealing to explore further with its expandable magical elements. The series is not too young, but it has plenty of room to dive deeper. The recent development shows new promises, so you can bet that we are only getting started.
Presentation
It’s reasonable to count on the artwork to be visually impressive to exploit its delighting world. Fortunately, Yamazaki does a terrific job. The environment can be delightful on one hand, then the next, horrifying. Since it’s magical, it’s expected to see many mythical creatures. Each of them stands out differently and has its own identity to separate from other creatures. It opens for plenty of imagination to add in for the future.
The detail can be really pretty to look at, including the living beings. Dragon design can never look old. It has that larger than life feeling that passes through you. The atmosphere tone is easily noted with its light and dark nature. It’s not afraid to go really dark on life including drug use and serial killer. The action is steady, so it’s easy to pick up on what’s happening. The world is welcoming to any who wishes to learn more. In the volume, it has descriptive interior area to make you feel right at home.
The real perk is the sublime design of the character’s expression. Chise is easy to notice since her character begins as a loner. Each time you see something new from her reaction, you grasp the warm feeling just by seeing it. These characters can be expressive and bring a tender feel. Even character like Elias who has no real expression, but the body language and monologue can bring just about the same meaningful length as expressions. There are other moments that will send you to feel something strong, which is the beauty of a good writing slice of life. It could make you teary, but much like hardship path, the end can bring you happiness.
As of Now
As of now, The Ancient Magus Bride has been a really great series. From what I have read so far, it has many new promises to explore new magical elements and new challenges. Beyond that, it is not easy to say that the series will grow stronger or weaker, but if it keeps up the writing quality, it can be very charming series in the end. I recommend it; that is if you are fine with the slice of life style. Believe me you will be glad with its focus before entering the main plot. I cannot wait for the anime debut; I’m happy to see how far it has come and begin to bloom to a wonderful work. The world is vast but it’s worth entering for its whimsical charm.

The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter and Lois; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog Brian. The show is set in the fictional city of Quahog, Rhode Island, and exhibits much of its humor in the form of cutaway gags that often lampoon American culture. The family was conceived by MacFarlane after developing two animated films, The Life of Larry and Larry & Steve. MacFarlane redesigned the films' protagonist, Larry, and his dog, Steve, and renamed them Peter and Brian, respectively. MacFarlane pitched a seven-minute pilot to Fox in 1998, and the show was greenlit and began production. Shortly after the third season of Family Guy had aired in 2002, Fox canceled the series, with one episode left unaired. Adult Swim burned off the episode in 2003, finishing the series' original run. However, favorable DVD sales and high ratings for syndicated reruns on Adult Swim convinced the network to renew the show in 2004 for a fourth season, which began airing on May 1, 2005. Since its debut on January 31, 1999, 289 episodes of Family Guy have been broadcast. Its fifteenth season began on September 25, 2016. Family Guy has been nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards and 11 Annie Awards, and has won three of each. In 2009, it was nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, the first time an animated series was nominated for the award since The Flintstones in 1961. Family Guy has also received criticism, including unfavorable comparisons to The Simpsons. Many tie-in media have been released, including Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, a straight-to-DVD special released in 2005; Family Guy: Live in Vegas, a soundtrack-DVD combo released in 2005, featuring music from the show as well as original music created by MacFarlane and Walter Murphy; a video game and pinball machine, released in 2006 and 2007, respectively; since 2005, six books published by Harper Adult based on the Family Guy universe; and Laugh It Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy (2010), a series of parodies of the original Star Wars trilogy. In 2008, MacFarlane confirmed that the cast was interested in producing a feature film and that he was working on a story for a film adaptation. A spin-off series, The Cleveland Show, featuring Cleveland Brown, aired from September 27, 2009, to May 19, 2013. "The Simpsons Guy", a crossover episode with The Simpsons, aired on September 28, 2014.[2] Family Guy is a joint production by Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Century Fox Television and syndicated by 20th Television.[3] In 2013, TV Guide ranked Family Guy the ninth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time.[4] Family Guy premiered for a fifteenth season on September 25, 2016. Living with the family is their witty, smoking, martini-swilling, sarcastic, English-speaking anthropomorphic dog Brian, though he is still considered a pet in many respects.[6] Recurring characters appear alongside the Griffin family. These include the family's neighbors: sex-crazed airline pilot bachelor Quagmire; African American deli owner Cleveland and his wife Loretta (later Donna); paraplegic police officer Joe, his wife Bonnie, their son Kevin and their baby daughter Susie; neurotic Jewish pharmacist Mort, his wife Muriel, and their geeky and annoying son Neil; and elderly child molester Herbert. TV news anchors Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons, Asian reporter Tricia Takanawa, and Blaccu-Weather meteorologist Ollie Williams also make frequent appearances. MacFarlane resided in Providence during his time as a student at Rhode Island School of Design, and the show contains distinct Rhode Island landmarks similar to real-world locations.[7][8] MacFarlane often borrows the names of Rhode Island locations and icons such as Pawtucket and Buddy Cianci for use in the show. MacFarlane, in an interview with a news program on WNAC-TV, Channel 64 in Providence, stated that the town is modeled after Cranston, Rhode Island.[9] Development Main article: The Life of Larry and Larry & Steve MacFarlane initially conceived Family Guy in 1995 while studying animation at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).[10] During college, he created his thesis film entitled The Life of Larry,[10] which was submitted by his professor at RISD to Hanna-Barbera. MacFarlane was hired by the company.[11] In 1996 MacFarlane created a sequel to The Life of Larry entitled Larry and Steve, which featured a middle-aged character named Larry and an intellectual dog, Steve; the short was broadcast in 1997 as one of Cartoon Network's World Premiere Toons.[10] An elder white-haired cartoon man with a white shirt and blue jeans next to a brown furred cartoon dog holding a book with a red background Larry (left) and Steve (right) as they appeared in Larry & Steve (1997), an animated short directed by Seth MacFarlane. Larry and Steve would form the basis for the Family Guy characters of Peter and Brian, respectively. Executives at Fox saw the Larry shorts and contracted MacFarlane to create a series, entitled Family Guy, based on the characters.[12] Fox proposed MacFarlane complete a 15-minute short, and gave him a budget of $50,000.[13] Several aspects of Family Guy were inspired by the Larry shorts.[14] While working on the series, the characters of Larry and his dog Steve slowly evolved into Peter and Brian.[12][15] MacFarlane stated that the difference between The Life of Larry and Family Guy was that "Life of Larry was shown primarily in my dorm room and Family Guy was shown after the Super Bowl."[14] After the pilot aired, the series was given the green light. MacFarlane drew inspiration from several sitcoms such as The Simpsons and All in the Family.[16] Premises were drawn from several 1980s Saturday morning cartoons he watched as a child, such as The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang and Rubik, the Amazing Cube.[17] The Griffin family first appeared on the demo that MacFarlane pitched to Fox on May 15, 1998.[18] Family Guy was originally planned to start out as short movies for the sketch show MADtv, but the plan changed because MADtv's budget was not large enough to support animation production. MacFarlane noted that he then wanted to pitch it to Fox, as he thought that that was the place to create a prime-time animation show.[16] Family Guy was originally pitched to Fox in the same year as King of the Hill, but the show was not bought until years later, when King of the Hill became successful.[16] Fox ordered 13 episodes of Family Guy to air in midseason after MacFarlane impressed executives with a seven-minute demo.[19] Episodes Main article: List of Family Guy episodes Season Episodes Originally aired Nielsen ratings First aired Last aired Rank Viewers (in millions) 1 7 January 31, 1999 May 16, 1999 33 12.80[20] 2 21 September 23, 1999 August 1, 2000 114 6.32[21] 3 22 July 11, 2001 November 9, 2003 125 4.50[22] 4 30 May 1, 2005 May 21, 2006 68 7.90[23] 5 18 September 10, 2006 May 20, 2007 71 7.20[24] 6 12 September 23, 2007 May 4, 2008 84 7.94[25] 7 16 September 28, 2008 May 17, 2009 69 7.56[26] 8 21 September 27, 2009 June 20, 2010 53 7.73[27] 9 18 September 26, 2010 May 22, 2011 56 7.66[28] 10 23 September 25, 2011 May 20, 2012 63 7.30[29] 11 22 September 30, 2012 May 19, 2013 62 6.94[30] 12 21 September 29, 2013 May 18, 2014 78 6.11[31] 13 18 September 28, 2014 May 17, 2015 94 5.86[32] 14 20 September 27, 2015 May 22, 2016 111 4.28[33] 15 20 September 25, 2016 May 21, 2017 116 3.93[34] Production Executive producers MacFarlane has served as an executive producer during the show's entire history, and also functions as a creative consultant. The first executive producers were David Zuckerman,[35] Lolee Aries, David Pritchard, and Mike Wolf.[36] Family Guy has had many executive producers in its history, including Daniel Palladino, Kara Vallow, and Danny Smith. David A. Goodman joined the show as a co-executive producer in season three, and eventually became an executive producer.[37] Alex Borstein, who voices Lois, worked as an executive and supervising producer for the fourth and fifth seasons.[38] A more involved position on the show is the showrunner, who acts as head writer and manages the show's production for an entire season.[39] Writing A man with a bald head and a brown sweater, and a man with spiked brown hair and glasses, speaking into a microphone. Matt Weitzman (left) is a former staff writer and Mike Barker is a former producer and writer of the show. Both left the series to create the ongoing adult animated sitcom American Dad! with Seth MacFarlane. Barker would depart American Dad! as well, following production of the show's 10th season. The first team of writers assembled for the show consisted of Chris Sheridan,[40] Danny Smith, Gary Janetti, Ricky Blitt, Neil Goldman, Garrett Donovan, Matt Weitzman, and Mike Barker.[41] The writing process of Family Guy generally starts with 14 writers that take turns writing the scripts; when a script is finished it is given to the rest of the writers to read. These scripts generally include cutaway gags. Various gags are pitched to MacFarlane and the rest of the staff, and those deemed funniest are included in the episode. MacFarlane has explained that normally it takes 10 months to produce an episode because the show uses hand-drawn animation. The show rarely comments on current events for this reason.[42] The show's initial writers had never written for an animated show; and most came from live-action sitcoms.[16] MacFarlane explains that he is a fan of 1930s and 1940s radio programs, particularly the radio thriller anthology "Suspense", which led him to give early episodes ominous titles like "Death Has a Shadow" and "Mind Over Murder". MacFarlane explained that the team dropped the naming convention after individual episodes became hard to identify, and the novelty wore off.[43] For the first few months of production, the writers shared one office, lent to them by the King of the Hill production crew.[43] Credited with 19 episodes, Steve Callaghan is the most prolific writer on Family Guy staff. Many of the writers that have left the show have gone on to create or produce other successful series. Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan co-wrote 13 episodes for the NBC sitcom Scrubs during their eight-year run on the show, while also serving as co-producers and working their way up to executive producers.[44] Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman left the show and went on to create the long-running and still ongoing adult animated series American Dad! MacFarlane is also a co-creator of American Dad![45][46] On November 4, 2013, it was announced that Barker had departed American Dad! during its run as well, after 10 seasons of serving as producer and co-showrunner over the series.[47] During the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, official production of the show halted for most of December 2007 and for various periods afterward. Fox continued producing episodes without MacFarlane's final approval, which he termed "a colossal dick move" in an interview with Variety. Though MacFarlane refused to work on the show, his contract under Fox required him to contribute to any episodes it would subsequently produce.[48] Production officially resumed after the end of the strike, with regularly airing episodes recommencing on February 17, 2008.[49] According to MacFarlane, in 2009, it costs about $2 million to make an episode of Family Guy.[50] Early history and cancellation Family Guy officially premiered after Fox's broadcast of Super Bowl XXXIII on January 31, 1999, with "Death Has a Shadow". The show debuted to 22 million viewers, and immediately generated controversy regarding its adult content.[51] The show returned on April 11, 1999, with "I Never Met the Dead Man". Family Guy garnered decent ratings in Fox's 8:30 pm slot on Sunday, scheduled between The Simpsons and The X-Files.[19] At the end of its first season, the show ranked at #33 in the Nielsen ratings, with 12.8 million households tuning in.[52] The show launched its second season in a new time slot, Thursday at 9 pm, on September 23, 1999. Family Guy was pitted against NBC's Frasier, and the series' ratings declined sharply.[19] Subsequently, Fox removed Family Guy from its schedule, and began airing episodes irregularly. The show returned on March 7, 2000, at 8:30 pm on Tuesdays, where it was constantly beaten in the ratings by ABC's then-new breakout hit Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, coming in at #114 in the Nielsen ratings with 6.32 million households tuning in.[53] Fox announced that the show had been canceled in May 2000, at the end of the second season.[54] However, following a last-minute reprieve, on July 24, 2000, Fox ordered 13 additional episodes of Family Guy to form a third season.[51] The show returned November 8, 2001, once again in a tough time slot: Thursday nights at 8:00 pm ET; this slot brought it into competition with Survivor and Friends (a situation that was later referenced in Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story).[55] During its second and third seasons, Fox frequently moved the show around to different days and time slots with little or no notice and, consequently, the show's ratings suffered.[56] Upon Fox's annual unveiling of its 2002 fall line-up on May 15, 2002, Family Guy was absent.[19] Fox announced that the show had been officially canceled shortly thereafter.[57] Cult success and revival Fox attempted to sell the rights for reruns of the show, but finding networks that were interested was difficult; Cartoon Network eventually bought the rights, "[...] basically for free", according to the president of 20th Century Fox Television.[58] Family Guy premiered in reruns on Adult Swim on April 20, 2003, and immediately became the block's top-rated program, dominating late-night viewing in its time period versus cable and broadcast competition, and boosting viewership by 239%.[19][59] The complete first and second seasons were released on DVD the same week the show premiered on Adult Swim, and the show became a cult phenomenon, selling 400,000 copies within one month.[19] Sales of the DVD set reached 2.2 million copies,[60] becoming the best-selling television DVD of 2003[61] and the second-highest-selling television DVD ever, behind the first season of Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show.[62] The third-season DVD release also sold more than a million copies.[59] The show's popularity in DVD sales and reruns rekindled Fox's interest,[63] and, on May 20, 2004, Fox ordered 35 new episodes of Family Guy, marking the first revival of a television show based on DVD sales.[62][64] "North by North Quahog", which premiered May 1, 2005, was the first episode to be broadcast after the show's hiatus. It was written by MacFarlane and directed by Peter Shin.[65] MacFarlane believed the show's three-year hiatus was beneficial because animated shows do not normally have hiatuses, and towards the end of their seasons, "... you see a lot more sex jokes and bodily function jokes and signs of a fatigued staff that their brains are just fried".[66] With "North by North Quahog", the writing staff tried to keep the show "[...] exactly as it was" before its cancellation, and "None of us had any desire to make it look any slicker".[66] The episode was watched by 11.85 million viewers,[67] the show's highest ratings since the airing of the first season episode "Brian: Portrait of a Dog".[68] Lawsuits In March 2007 comedian Carol Burnett filed a $6 million lawsuit against 20th Century-Fox, claiming that her charwoman cartoon character had been portrayed on the show without her permission. She stated it was a trademark infringement, and that Fox violated her publicity rights.[69][70][71] On June 4, 2007, United States District Judge Dean D. Pregerson rejected the lawsuit, stating that the parody was protected under the First Amendment, citing Hustler Magazine v. Falwell as a precedent.[72] On October 3, 2007, Bourne Co. Music Publishers filed a lawsuit accusing the show of infringing its copyright on the song "When You Wish Upon a Star", through a parody song entitled "I Need a Jew" appearing in the episode "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein". Bourne Co., the sole United States copyright owner of the song, alleged the parody pairs a "thinly veiled" copy of its music with antisemitic lyrics. Named in the suit were 20th Century Fox Film Corp., Fox Broadcasting Co., Cartoon Network, MacFarlane and Murphy; the suit sought to stop the program's distribution and asked for unspecified damages.[73] Bourne argued that "I Need a Jew" uses the copyrighted melody of "When You Wish Upon a Star" without commenting on that song, and that it was therefore not a First Amendment-protected parody per the ruling in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc.[74][75] On March 16, 2009, United States District Judge Deborah Batts held that Family Guy did not infringe on Bourne's copyright when it transformed the song for comical use in an episode.[76] In December 2007, Family Guy was again accused of copyright infringement when actor Art Metrano filed a lawsuit regarding a scene in Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, in which Jesus performs Metrano's signature "magic" act involving absurd "faux" magical hand gestures while humming the distinctive tune "Fine and Dandy".[77] 20th Century Fox, MacFarlane, Callaghan and Borstein were all named in the suit.[78] In July 2009 a federal district court judge rejected Fox's motion to dismiss, saying that the first three fair use factors involved — "purpose and character of the use", "nature of the infringed work" and "amount and substantiality of the taking" — counted in Metrano's favor, while the fourth — "economic impact" — had to await more fact-finding. In denying the dismissal, the court held that the reference in the scene made light of Jesus and his followers — not Metrano or his act.[79][80] The case was settled out of court in 2010 with undisclosed terms.[81] Voice cast

My Week in Manga: February 6-February 12, 2017
My News and Reviews
Last week at Experiments in Manga I posted the Bookshelf Overload for January–it was kind of a strange month for manga and other media acquisitions for me, but it wasn’t as absurd as December so at least my wallet’s a little happier. I also managed to finish my draft for February’s in-depth review, so I should have that cleaned up and posted sometime later this week.
Last week I came across a few interesting things online related to queer manga, comics, and other media. Massive has now released Jiraiya’s Two Hoses in English, a manga telling the story of “The Greatest Couple,” characters who were initially designed for the company as part of its launch. (Massive has released Jiraiya’s Caveman Guu manga, too, which was subsequently collected in the excellent anthology Massive: Gay Erotic Manga and the Men Who Make It.)
I haven’t had a chance to actually listen to it yet, but the most recent ANNCast focused on LGBT representation in manga and anime with guests Erica Friedman, Jason Thompson, and Valerie Complex. Friedman also visited the University of Michigan back in January to discuss queer manga. The recording of her presentation Alt Manga, Queer Manga: Telling Our Own Stories is now available to watch on YouTube.
There were a few Kickstarter campaigns that caught my attention last week as well. First and foremost, Chromatic Press is raising funds to release the final volume of Lianne Sentar’s series Tokyo Demons in print, produce a revised edition of the first novel, as well as reprint the other books in the series. It isn’t a secret that I am a huge fan of the series, so I definitely want to see the project succeed. Tabula Idem is a great-looking tarot-themed queer comics anthology with an accompanying queer-themed major arcana tarot deck. I’m not very familiar with most of the artists involved, but Kaiju (whose comics I greatly enjoy) is contributing the cover illustration. Pamela Kotila has also launched a campaign to print the second volume of the webcomic Spidersilk. Though I haven’t actually read it yet, I recently picked up the first volume so this project seems to be aptly-timed.
Quick Takes
The Ancient Magus’ Bride, Volumes 4-6 by Kore Yamazaki. It’s been a little while since I’ve read The Ancient Magus’ Bride but that’s not because I don’t like the manga. In fact, it’s quite the opposite–The Ancient Magus’ Bride is actually one of my favorite series currently being released in English. I simply wanted to have a whole stack of volumes to read all at once. (Also worth noting: The first printing of Volume 6 is even accompanied by a special booklet with an additional comic!) Somehow, I had managed to forget just how much I enjoy The Ancient Magus’ Bride. I love its moody atmosphere and setting, beautiful artwork, and intriguing characters. Elias remains something of an enigma although parts of his past have now been revealed. He isn’t particularly happy about this development, though. Likewise, more is known about Chise, too, although she is still hesitant to share. The relationship dynamics in The Ancient Magus’ Bride are somewhat peculiar but remain compelling. Most of the characters in the manga are struggling with some sort of heartbreaking loneliness or feelings of isolation. To see them slowly drawing closer together, forming bonds of friendship, family, and love is immensely satisfying.
Mr. Mini Mart by Junko. Although the boys’ love manga Mr. Mini Mart was released in English first, my introduction to Junko’s work was through the series Kiss Him, Not Me. Because I was enjoying that series, I made a point to track down a copy of Mr. Mini Mart which for a time had gone out-of-print. (It’s more-or-less back in print again, but the manga seems to only be available directly from Juné Manga’s online store.) I forget why I initially passed on Mr. Mini Mart but I’m very glad that I finally got around to reading it. Mr. Mini Mart collects two boys’ love stories. Most of the volume is devoted to the titular “Mr. Mini Mart” but a short, unrelated one-shot manga “Young Scrubs” is included as well. It’s not nearly as good, though. “Mr. Mini Mart” is wonderful and surprisingly sweet. The story follows the high-school-aged Nakaba who, after an unfortunate incident in middle school, has been living as a shut-in. He gets finally gets out of the house when his uncle gives him a job at his store, but Nakaba has a difficult time getting along with his coworker Yamai and his abrasive personality. I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for a sensitive tough guy and it turns out that Yamai is an amazing example of one and is just a great person in general.
The Seven Princes of the Thousand-Year Labyrinth, Volume 1 written by Yu Aikawa and illustrated by Haruno Atori. I really wanted to like the first volume of The Seven Princes of the Thousand-Year Labyrinth more than I actually did. The basic premise is intriguing. A group of some of the kingdom’s most noteworthy, and in some cases most notorious, citizens wake up to find themselves trapped together in an elaborately booby-trapped castle. (The exception is the protagonist Ewan whose only distinguishing characteristics are his trusting nature, inherent kindness, and the fact that he’s from the kingdom’s most remote island.) The assumption is that whoever manages to survive the ordeal will become the kingdom’s emperor and reigning lords. There is a ton of potential in this set up, but The Seven Princes of the Thousand-Year Labyrinth simply didn’t work for me. Mostly I think it’s because the characters all come across as types rather than well-rounded individuals. What’s more is that they don’t even feel like they should all be a part of the same series; I found this lack of cohesiveness to be frustrating. The artwork is pretty, though, if not especially distinctive and there are plenty of plot twists, too.
Tomie by Junji Ito. Although uncommon, license rescues aren’t particularly rare, but Ito’s horror series Tomie is one of the very few manga to have been released in English by three different publishers. Most recently, Viz Media has collected the entire series in a single, massive tome with over seven hundred forty pages. The translation used is the same as the one in Dark Horse’s Museum of Terror series which I own, but I couldn’t resist the deluxe, hardcover treatment the volume received to match Viz’s other recent re-releases of Ito’s manga. Tomie was actually Ito’s award-winning professional debut and began serialization in 1987 in a shoujo magazine. The manga is largely episodic although there may be several chapters devoted to a single story arc and later stories sometimes make passing references to earlier ones. What ties the series together is the presence of Tomie, a beautiful young woman who is seemingly immortal. Time and again men fall desperately in love with Tomie and are eventually overcome by a desire to murder and dismember her. Not only does Tomie survive, she regenerates and multiplies, and so the horror continues. While not as mind-bendingly bizarre as some of Ito’s later works, Tomie is still weird, horrifying, gruesome, and grotesque.

vi: the damsels are depressed
American stories, faded before me.
I’m feeling hopless,
the damsels are depressed.
Boys will be boys, the, where are the wise men?
Darling, I’m scared.
-Taylor Swift, “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”
The hairdresser lowered the silver tiara on top of Dany’s silk curls. Most of the tiaras in the Targaryen collection were intricate floral patterns dotted with diamonds but Dany’s was special.
Her tiara was geometric. A band of silver with a large pear shaped diamond set into it, surrounded by hundreds of smaller ones from the mines of Valyria. The pressure from the cataclysmic collapse of the Targaryen homeland a millennia ago created the most beautiful diamonds on the planet. The Targaryen royalty made it tradition to have the gems in all of their crown jewels. Dany was no exception.
It was the opposite of all things a princess was supposed to be. Angular, intimidating, and cold. The tiara was commissioned for her sixteenth nameday, her official debut into society. The gala she planned for it was a testament to her excellent taste. All the best people, dressed in the best designers, and dancing to moody music in low lighting.
The Annual Charity Gala was nothing like that. It was outdated courtiers dressed in antiquated fashion with nothing better to do than gossip about each other. All milling around under harsh lights and awaiting Rhaegar’s speech, indulging themselves in the expensive alcohol.
She jutted her chin and pouted her lower lip, checking her lipstick in the giant mirror before her. It was bad taste to wear a red lip with a red dress, she knew, but she couldn’t resist, especially with the honored guests they were receiving. She needed a power move to show that even after her slight, she still demanded respect. Even from stuffy Northerners.
Missandei entered the boudoir dressed in one of Elia’s old gowns the seamstress did quick alterations on. Yellow, off-the-shoulder, the train of the dress extending from under her shoulders. Her curls framed her face, highlighting her gorgeous complexion. All of Dany’s old gowns were in soft, pastel hues and could never do Missy justice.
“You look stunning!” Dany cheered, wrapping her friend in another hug.
“Thank you. Elia has good taste.”
“It’s too bad we can’t put you in a tiara.”
Tiaras were for royalty only and they were only worn at evening functions or important state events. Like important speeches, coronations, and weddings. To put Missandei in even a small one would cause the poor old patrons of the court to keel over where they stood.
The two girls laughed. Elia knocked at the door, stepping in cautiously when Dany called to her.
She was wearing a pale sunset orange, the frothy chiffon embroidered with the stylized sun of House Martell. A tiara composed of the same golden suns was nestled in her long curls. She glittered in the low light of the room.
“You two look beautiful,” she complimented, reaching up to adjust Dany’s tiara.
Elia looked at her with soft eyes, resting her hands on Dany’s bare shoulders.
“Thank you,” Dany smiled
“Rheagar wants to speak with you.”
“Now? But the gala’s-”
“He’s in his office. It’s very important so, please, don’t keep him waiting.”
Dany gave a sorry look to Missandei, “Duty calls.”
“I’ll keep our lovely guest company until you get back,” Elia promised.
She traveled down the hall, the lavish rug muffling the click of her heels. Dany’s apartments were on the north end of the palace, with Rhaenys’ rooms and the main guest rooms. Because Dany was still living in King’s Landing at the time of Aegon’s birth, his rooms were prepared at the south end of the complex; closer to Elia and Rhaegar’s apartments. She was surprised when she returned home and they hadn’t moved her to the family guest suites on the opposite side of the palace.
The long hallway to Rheagar’s study had a wall of windows on one side and mirrors on the other. The interior designers wanted the unusually small walkway to feel as wide and grand as the others.
She watched her reflection as she passed. A dangerous and proud woman ready to face the world. Ready to face her brother. She took a deep breath and rolled her shoulders back, lifting her chin for good measure.
The impressive door was open but she made sure to close it when she entered. From the way he didn’t look up from the papers on his desk, Dany knew he wasn’t excited about having her home.
“Dany, thank you for coming. It’s good to have you back.”
“It’s good to be back.”
She spotted the tray of liquor on a table and made her way over. She needed to be a little buzzed before the party started and Rheagar kept the best scotch in his office for his important guests. Well, I am nothing if not important, she reminded herself with a pleased smile.
“How as Braavos?”
“Wonderful,” she deadpanned, pouring herself a glass of the potent alcohol.
“Would you like water, Dany?”
The jab at her recent liquor fueled exploits didn’t go unnoticed.
“No, I much prefer a good glass of scotch. They don’t have this fine stuff in Braavos. Although, they do have a strong liquor from Lorath called vodka. It’s knocked me off my ass quite a few times.”
“I didn’t ask you here to talk about your drinking habits while abroad.”
“Then why did you ask me here?”
Dany lowered herself into the wingback chair in front of his impressive desk. The same desk Dany hid under during games of hide and seek with Viserys. Rhaegar never played with them, he was always too busy with lessons.
It was strange how much Rhaegar looked like their father, poised behind the antique desk. He had silver hair like all of the Targaryens but his violet eyes were much darker.
“Galazza Galare contacted Baelish earlier today and told him that your little slip up was the work of photoshop. You got lucky this time but it’s not likely to change people’s minds.”
Dany couldn’t celebrate the news of her accident being manufactured. Not with Rhaegar staring her down. If anything, she held her breath in anticipation of what he would berate her for next.
“There’s still the fact that you were hanging on this… Daario Naharis. Do you have any idea what people will say?”
“You don’t have to worry about Daario. He’s just a fling. Nothing like the last time.”
“Dany, we can’t have you acting like this. The public will assume you’ve gone down the same path as Viserys. You had your freedom but it’s time to reign it in.”
Being compared to Viserys hurt and the tone of Rhaegar’s voice reinforced the image of their father. She’d never been the victim of one of his lectures on reputation but Rhaegar was subjected to them all the time. The need to protect the Targaryen name was ingrained in his brain like a bad tattoo.
“I think you’re forgetting that I spent my time between semesters in Slaver’s Bay helping with the human trafficking crsis.”
“No, I didn’t forget that, but the negative aspects of your personality have taken the spotlight over all of your good deeds.”
Dany considered for a minute with a long drink. Other people said scotch burned on its way down but Dany only felt a tickle. Targaryen’s knew how to hold their alcohol. The last drop slid from the glass and into her mouth. She set the cut crystal down with an indignant sound and traced her finger around the edge.
“There’s something you’re not telling me.”
“Dany,” Rhaegar sighed.
“You called me home for a reason and it’s bigger than my reputation. So, spill it.”
Rheagar opened a desk drawer and pulled out an official looking manilla folder with the state seal printed on the front. It was a variation of the old Targaryen sigil. A single dragon with three heads, each representing a branch of the state intelligence agency, and a set of scales and a longsword grasped in its talons.
“A couple of months ago we received a message from King Eddard Stark of the North. He seeks an alliance.”
“An alliance?”
“Yes. He said the North suffered a low harvest and needs men to man the Wall before winter comes.”
Dany raised an eyebrow at him. Rhaegar was never good at getting to the point, a habit he learned from their father. He met her eyes and cleared his throat.
“I see this as a way to finally secure the North and eliminate the threat of war.”
“Okay…”
“So I offered him a marriage contract between our house and his.”
Dany’s hand tightened around her glass, dreading the next words out of Rhaegar’s mouth. “Between you and his heir.”
The expensive glass hurtled at his head. Rhaegar ducked in time but the cut crystal shattered against the ornate marble mantle behind him. She couldn’t stop herself. Part of the reason she always got into so much trouble was because she didn’t know when to stop.
“And you didn’t think to talk to me about it first,” she yelled.
There was no doubt her voice carried through the halls. She wasn’t known for holding her tongue and always vocalizing her distaste. The palace staff were used to her outbursts.
“Dany, please, sit down- “No! You can’t expect me to go through with this!”
Rheagar sighed and rubbed his temples, “I expect you to do what is right and put your family before yourself. When Aegon conquered Westeros he didn’t do it because of a silly whim, he did it to save his family. The same family that you and I are now tasked with preserving.”
“The Northmen pose no threat to us. And even if they did, we outnumber their forces.”
“I’m afraid they might be a greater concern than we originally thought.”
“What are you talking about?”
“The North is sparsely populated, which makes filling the ranks hard, but one of the great houses have been steadily building up their forces for some time. If the situation is as dire as King Eddard claims, we could expect him to utilize these forces to attack our borders for resources.”
“I will not be your pawn.”
“Have you ever stopped to consider that there are some things bigger than you!” he slammed his palms on the desk. “Monarchy is dying, Daenerys. Everyday more people turn against us and you make it worse by acting like a common whore. Do you know what they say about us?”
For once in her life she was too stunned to speak. Rhaegar never lashed out like this. But she wouldn’t let him get to her.
“Oh, let me guess! Those Targaryens are an outdated, a symbol of the old world! We’d be better off without them. And that Daenerys, she’s the worst of all, the filthy whore,” Dany spat.
She was in Rhaegar’s face, leaning over the desk. The tears burned and her throat was tight. Daenerys Targaryen does not cry, she assured herself as she inhaled a shaking breath. Her hands balled into fists, fingernails digging into her palms. She needed to punch something or someone, she needed to run.
“This isn’t a foreign policy matter. It’s punishment for my behavior. Do you honestly think selling me off to a foreign country is going to silence the rumors about me?
Rhaegar’s eyes softened with the realization of what he’d implied and he sunk into his chair.
“I don’t expect you to understand the delicacy of this situation but you need to acknowledge that you are a member of House Targaryen. The same regal house that has ruled over these kingdoms for hundreds of years. We do not let our personal feelings get in the way of duty.”
“That is so-”
“Like it or not, you belong to the Crown and when it calls, you answer.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
“I wouldn’t advise that.”
“Why not?”
He took a deep breath, clasped his hands, and looked her dead in the eyes, “I’ll disown you.”
She laughed but the stoic look on her brother’s face said it all.
“Oh, you’re serious. You’re going to disown me because I want to be viewed as a human being instead of a political bargaining chip?”
“It’s not an easy decision but if that’s what it takes.”
She clenched her jaw.
Rheagar held the folder out. Dany scowled at her brother as she snatched it and retreated from his extravagant office in a huff, her red dress added to the dramatism of her exit.
He never apologized. Never. ‘It’s not a King’s job to apologize’, their father would say.
She found Elia and Missy in her boudoir, giggling over something on a phone.
“Did you know about this?” Dany demanded of Elia.
Elia’s dark brows furrowed in confusion.
“Did you know that Rhaegar sold me off for some alliance we don’t need?”
Elia sighed, “He asked me not to tell you. He knew you would react like this.”
“Wait, what’s happening?” Missy questioned from the ottoman.
“I’m engaged.”
“Excuse me? You’re getting married and you didn’t tell me.”
“As the bride, I only found out minutes ago.”
Missandei balked, Dany’s same reaction. The tension in her limbs was back and the familiar urge to hit something burned in her.
“Political business, I’m afraid,” Elia confirmed.
Dany handed the dossier to Missy, watching her face as she laid eyes on the official portrait of Prince Jon.
“Oh, he’s hot!”
Elia hummed in agreement, “He’s the Heir to the North. His country seeks an alliance with the United Kingdoms of Westeros. And he is handsome, you could do a lot worse.”
“So your brother arranged a marriage contract without your consent?”
“Yes and I will not be going through with it.” Dany took the file back so she wouldn’t have to hear anymore about her fiance’s looks.
Her fiance. The word made her want to vomit. No, he wasn't her fiance, he wasn’t even a suitor. He was a minor inconvenience she needed to weed out.
She flipped through it unceremoniously before taking the official portrait from the paper clip and tossing the rest onto her bed. Elia reclaimed the papers.
“Three brothers, two sisters. He’s served in the military and was very successful in school,” she recited.
“And he’s hot,” Missy singsonged.
Dany considered the photo again. Despite his military time, his face still held the softness of youth. Arrogant and buoyant.
“He’s a legitimized bastard.” Elia pointed to the specific line.
Dany looked up from the photo, “That’s hardly appropriate. I’m the Princess Royal of the United Kingdoms of Westeros! I can’t marry a bastard, even a legitimized one.”
“He’s going to be a King,” Elia stressed, “Give the guy a chance.”
“I’ve spent six years in Slaver’s Bay making change, real change. And not by holding fancy galas and bullshit fundraisers but by getting my hands dirty. If I marry him, all of that goes away. I can’t go where I want, when I want…”
“Dany,” Missy spoke, “I agree with Elia, um- Her Majesty. You did all of that work, but only as a Princess. If you were a queen, you could do so much more. I’m sure they’d let you go to Slaver’s Bay and do your work.”
“But I’ll have so much security, my work would hardly be impactful. And I don’t know anything about their customs. I’ll just embarrass myself-”
“So? You’ll learn. You’re forgetting that Rhaegar and I’s marriage was arranged. I survived and you will too.”
“Not if I have anything to do about it!”
“Like it or not, this is life as a member of the royal family. You could abdicate but you know Rhaegar would never allow it and nobody likes a disgraced royal.”
Dany glanced back at the photo, still clutched in her hand. She hadn’t noticed how tight her grip was and relaxed her hand. Even with the crinkles in the photo she could see what Elia and Missy saw. She wasn’t blind. In his military uniform he looked dignified and strong. He looked worthy of a woman like Dany.
Unfortunately, looks didn’t determine a successful marriage. She would need to get him alone to determine if he was really worth the risk.
“What do you think, Dany?” Missy prompted.
“Fine. I’ll give him a chance, but I’m expecting your help.”
Elia gave her a smile.
“What do we need to do?” Missy asked, excitement and mischief in her voice.
“Be my agents. Talk to him, gather more information, report back to me. I’ll make my move when I feel it’s right.”
An assistant poked their head into the room and reminded them that they needed to get into place for the gala. Missy had to leave with the assistant to go through the secret side entrance since she wasn’t an aristocrat.
Elia and Dany found Rhaegar waiting for them, checking his watch. When he smiled at them, Dany could only scowl back.
“It’s about time you two showed up.” he planted a kiss on Elia’s cheek.
He placed his hands firmly on Dany’s bare shoulders, “Please, remember to smile.”
She shoved his hands off and he sighed.
Elia swooped her into a tight hug and whispered, “I’m so proud of you, no matter what.”
When she pulled back she had the mom look on her face. The same one she gave Dany when she got into university or when Aegon took his first steps.
Rhaegar and Elia entered to monstrous applause but when Dany entered, she faced dead silence. Despite the number of people in the Grand Hall, the whispers echoed. And that Daenerys, she’s the worst of all of them, the filthy whore, she couldn’t stop the thought from coming back. She shook it off. She was the blood of the dragon, dragons do not care about the opinions of sheep. She didn’t need their approval. They were all jealous and petty.
Dany paused at the top of the stairs to survey the court. She spotted the newcomers immediately, situated in the furthest corner by a window. Her eyes caught on the eldest daughter’s hair before she saw the eldest brother and finally, her fiance.
Her breath caught in her throat as she realized he was a real person. And the situation she was so sure she could get herself out of, felt even more impossible.

Disney California Journey Food stuff and Wine Pageant 2020 – Strategies & What We Ate
No matter if you’re a foodie or not, I recommend traveling to Disneyland Vacation resort through the Disney California Adventure Food items and Wine Festival. You’ll have lots of time to slot in a excursion this 12 months as it is going on every day amongst now and April 21, 2020 — a for a longer period time body than common.
I experienced the option to attend the media preview on opening day where I tasted numerous dishes and took photographs of even more as I walked about the park with other media close friends. We ate a large amount and I’ll spotlight our favorites right here.
Fiscalini White Cheddar Lager Soup from the Nuts About Cheese Festival Market
What Is the Disneyland Meals and Wine Festival?
Themed kiosks (known as Competition Marketplaces) are scattered largely down the route in between Carthay Circle cafe and Paradise Pier Gardens. As friends go about their working day in the park, they’ll end at different kiosks to sample California-influenced delicacies and delicious beverage alternatives, of system, well prepared with Disney flair. This yr, Disney chefs convey to
The food display screen at the media preview.
The age 21 and about established can order wine, craft beer, and cocktails built with spirits from all about California. There is far more food stuff and drink than 1 can quite possibly check out in 1, two, or even a few visits.
How A lot Is it to Attend?
You’ll will need a park ticket to enter the Disney California Experience Food items and Wine Pageant. After inside of the park, it’s free of charge to search the Market kiosks and gawk at the numerous plates of food stuff you will see other visitors walking all around with. Food and drink linked with the festival is at an extra charge that we’ll protect beneath.
Relaxation certain that if you’re attending for two or far more times that you can uncover a Disneyland tickets low cost.
Is the Sip and Savor Move Well worth It?
Even though you can order meals and beverages at any of the kiosks on an a la carte foundation, contemplate the well-liked Sip and Savor Pass.
The Sip and Savor Pass retails for $56 and is out there to all people! It consists of eight tastings. Yearly Move Holders shell out $51 and obtain a unique lanyard and commemorative magnet even though materials very last. Solid Associates at Market kiosks will request you to tear off your coupon in their existence (do not tear it off beforehand) when you pick out to redeem 1 for a food or nonalcoholic drink tasting.
The Sip and Savor move does not involve alcoholic beverages so you’ll have to have to shell out for these individually. I have a several other suggestions for getting the most out of your Sip and Savor Go here:
Thanks to generous part sizes, it will be complicated for a person individual to use an overall Sip and Savor Move in just one working day. You have until the finish of the pageant to use the discount codes so there isn’t a hurry to redeem in a person stop by.
You can also obtain a person go and share it between buddies.
You’ll want to use the pass coupon codes on significant benefit items ($7 or additional) and pay income for a lot less highly-priced items like bottled h2o.
Following moving into Disney California Journey, it is easy to invest in the Sip and Savor Pass at the Sip and Savor Cart, Seaside Souvenirs, Elias & Co., Kingswell Digital camera Store, Rushin’ River Outfitters, Studio Retailer, Festival Presents, and each individual Festival Market.
To give you an idea of a la carte costs, below is a sample menu.
Alcoholic beverages operate in the $14 array but most food stuff is at this price tag position.
What I Ate at Competition Marketplaces
Favored Festival Marketplaces return in 2020 but As soon as in a Melon is new, to make a whole of 13 alternatives here. In addition, Cappuccino Cart, Pageant Food stuff and Beverage Cart, Hollywood Land Churro Cart, and Paradise Backyard Grill are giving distinctive tasting-dimension dishes that are qualified for the Sip and Savor Pass.
Mickey-shaped Caramel-Peanut Milk Chocolate Macaron
Competition Marketplace: Off the Cob
My favourite Disney California Adventure Foodstuff and Wine Festival food items item was the Mickey-formed Caramel-Peanut Milk Chocolate Macaron at Off the Cob.
If you like sweets, order this.
It is huge and preferences form of like a Snickers candy bar. The macaron is the fantastic blend of mild and chewy and it is dipped in chocolate so that the caramel and nuts can adhere to it. Of program, the filling is decadent and excellent.
Asian-design Beef Barbacoa Avenue Tacos
Competition Market: LA Design and style
Asian-fashion Beef Barbacoa Road Tacos are up my alley as I’m a enthusiast of pickled onions. They also cover that there is pickled ginger blended in. The meat was cooked effectively and the tortillas held up properly. I would get these in a cafe for confident.
Poke-design Watermelon with Cucumber (Gluten-No cost)
Pageant Marketplace: The moment in a Melon
I really largely take in gluten-no cost not because of allergy symptoms but due to the fact I experience improved when I do. I rather liked this minimal dish. The cucumber and watermelon poke is on best of rice, as is popular with poke bowls, but I would desire it without rice as I believe it added a small blandness to the dish. I happily ate all the things else!
Brunch Fried Rooster & Waffle Sandwich
Pageant Market: Golden Desires
A little bit gluttonous but I had to test it.
This is a rather neat development mainly mainly because the orange juice filled boba-like spheres add a special taste and pizazz to an in any other case frequent but decadent dish. Make absolutely sure to distribute the slaw and OJ bubbles out so that you get some in each individual bite otherwise it will be also dry.
Tortilla-crusted Fried Guacamole with Carne Asada
Pageant Market: Avocado Time
Tortilla-crusted Fried Guacamole with Carne Asada was a emphasize also. I was stuffed by the time I requested this so I shared it between pals and we all agreed that it was a stunning group-pleaser.
Fried Artichokes with Lemon Aioli
Festival Market: I Appreciate Artichokes
Do you see the (form of) Hidden Mickey?
If you’d like to get a adorable Instagram image, be guaranteed to occur right here. The foods is also good. I favored these fried artichokes and a friend attempted the artichoke toast and claimed it was great. It’s 1 of the Marketplaces that isn’t on the main drag but somewhat up by Grizzly River Run. It’s shadier up there so a good end on a sizzling day.
Strategies for Producing the Most of Your Working day
Research the Tasting Passport booklet ahead of location off on your culinary journey. It lists each individual offered food items and drink merchandise on supply at every Festival Marketplace and collaborating outlet. You’ll have a listing of Sip and Savor Pass qualified merchandise on your lanyard but the Tasting Passport also lists alcoholic beverages and information and facts for individuals
Each and every Market kiosk has not only it is very own theme but its possess wall mural that is fantastic for your Instagram feed.
Keep your foodstuff up to the purple pepper mural for a great Instagram shot.
Opening day was a Friday and we identified that the traces were being shorter in the late afternoon all around 2 – 4 p.m. At lunchtime, they ended up very long and all-around 5 p.m. they were being extensive as perfectly.
What If I Have a Dietary Restriction?
The back again web pages of the Disney California Experience Food items and Wine Pageant Tasting Passport highlight kid-friendly, plant based and gluten-free of charge alternatives.
You will will need to use the Tasting Passport as a guide. Meals that meets dietary restriction recommendations of plant-based mostly or gluten-free are not noted on the menus posted on every Competition Market, but they are noted in the Tasting Passport. I want that they would insert this element to the kiosk menus as when you are trying to make an ordering choice, it’s nice to have speedy confirmation that what you suspect will perform will in fact perform for you.
Unattainable Foods was not too long ago named the chosen plant-based burger of Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney Environment Vacation resort and Disney Cruise Line. There are three Unattainable Foods menu things debuting at Disney California Foods and Wine Pageant. The 1 I tried using, Unachievable Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese was so very good and decadent that I forgot to acquire a photo of it. You can locate it at Nuts About Cheese.
Distinctive Disney California Experience Foodstuff and Wine Competition Gatherings
You will want to test what’s happening on the Backlot Phase in Hollywood Land. There will be chef demonstrations by Disney chefs and celebrity cooks that will involve David Burtka, Richard Blais, Jamie Gwen, Jet Tila and Wing Lam.
The Junior Chef encounter with Chef Goofy is probably to be well known and will materialize on decide on times. Kids ages 3 – 11 sign up for Chef Goofy as they combine ingredients to develop a delicious deal with.
Other events contain a new Disney Culinary Experience on Wednesdays and Thursdays that can take company at the rear of-the-scenes in a single of the numerous Disney California Experience kitchens. There will also be Winemaker Receptions at Carthay Circle Cafe that includes perfectly-regarded California wineries like Fess Parker and Silverado Vineyards.
Friends can also show up at seminars on Sonoma Terrace led by experts in the winemaking, brewing, and distillery fields who will also be joined by Disneyland Vacation resort sommeliers and mixologists.
You can sign-up for activities here.
The Festival Merch
Of program, there is merchandise that can only be acquired through the Disneyland California Adventure Food and Wine Festival ranging from a T-shirt distinctive to once-a-year passholders to wine trivets. Buy at Festival Gifts, Studio Store and Elias & Co.
Primarily well known is the Chef Headband and the Spirit Jersey.
What are you looking forward to about the Disney California Journey Food stuff and Wine Competition in 2020?

As the theater awards season enters the home stretch – what’s left: Drama Desk Awards, Theatre World Awards, the Tonys – the question arises once again:How does one determine, or even define, excellence in theater?
“I’ve become increasingly convinced that as a field we do not have a cohesive definition of excellence,” Chad Bauman, the managing director of Milwaukee Repertory Theater, wrote last year in American Theatre.
So he asked his colleagues across the country, and got some 50 responses – but the question he asked was about excellence in a theater as a whole (regional theaters in particular), not about individual shows. So the answers about excellence in individual shows didn’t get much more specific than “artistic quality.” All did agree that courage counts – such as not being afraid to play with form.
Five years ago, in an article titled Divining Artistic Excellence , theater artist and historian Lynne Connor pointed out that, while the concept of excellence can refer to something semi-tangible such as “the sophistication of a play’s dramatic arc,” more often people conflate excellence with taste, “something far less tangible and thus far less quantifiable.” And what determines taste? “Personal taste in everything from beer to Shakespeare comes about through a combination of biology, past experience, cultural norms, and individual predilections.”
She concludes: “We need to find productive ways to invite audiences of all tastes (and all economic and ethnic backgrounds) to join in the conversation about (the struggle over) meaning and value.”
Week in New York Theater Awards
Obie Awards
The 64th Annual Obie Awards, celebrating Off and Off-Off-Broadway Theater, was a New York Theatre Workshop lovefest, with Obies going to NYTW playwrights Heidi Schreck, Madeleine George, Marcus Gardley, and lighting designer Isabella Byrd, as well as a lifetime achievement Obie to NYTW’s artistic director James Nicola. It was also a tribute to the many women working in the theater in New York. But Obies like to spread the wealth, literally — Four theaters received grants.

Terrence McNally was made an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts at New York University’s Commencement. NYU Prof (and playwright) Kristoffer Diaz read the citation:” Terrence McNally, one of theatre’s greatest contemporary playwrights, you have created over the past half-century an eclectic and prolific body of work—literally scores of plays, musicals, opera libretti, and scripts for film and television. Your razor wit and complexities of character largely explain how you created theatre that functions as family, launched the careers of great actors, and helped audiences cope with the AIDS crisis that engulfed them. You placed your unique stamp on American drama by probing the urgent need for connection that resonates at the core of human experience. From an expansive mind and generous spirit, you have created masterful and enduring art and in the process have celebrated and uplifted humankind.”
The latest is a revival of Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, which opens May 30th at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theater.

The Week in New York Theater Reviews and Previews
Brian d’Arcy James (Quinn Carney) and Holley Fain (Caitlin Carney
The Ferryman on Broadway with American cast
The Ferryman, a feast of Irish storytelling in a breathtaking mix of genres, opened on Broadway seven months ago, and since then it’s gotten nine Tony nominations, best play awards from the New York Drama Critics Circle, the Outer Critics Circle, AND the Drama League…and an almost entirely new cast, the original British and Irish actors replaced by Americans. Even Laura Donnelly has been replaced. She is the Belfast-born actress whose uncle’s disappearance, and the subsequent discovery years later of his murdered corpse, inspired playwright Jez Butterworth to write the play in the first place. Donnelly’s character Caitin Carney is now being portrayed by Holley Fain, an actress born in Kansas.
…Does this matter? It might in one way to those of us who saw the original cast. But to those theatergoers who have not yet had the pleasure of experiencing The Ferryman (which they have only until July 7th to do), the play is still a rich, sweeping entertainment — epic, tragic….and cinematic.
Lunch Bunch at Clubbed Thumb
n the first play of Clubbed Thumb’s 24thannual Summerworks festival at the Wild Project – the first summer theater festival of the season — the cast faces us a la A Chorus Line, except instead of singing “I hope I get it,”they recite “Veggie enchiladas with Clementine” and “Rice, steamed kale, spiced tofu.”
It’s only after several such culinary recitations that we’re told these people are members of a lunch group, each member having agreed to make lunch for everybody else once a week. It takes a little longer to figure out that they are lawyers in a public defender’s office, that it’s a taxing job – “Greg’s resilient,” says Tuttle (Keilly McQuail), “He never cries in the coat closet” – and that obsessing on food is what helps keep them going.
Loveville High
Two things distinguish Loveville High, a new musical that takes place on prom night in a high school in Loveville, Ohio. First: The cast of 13 is comprised of some of the most talented young theater stars in New York, several of them also currently performing on Broadway — Ali Stroker (Tony nominee for Oklahoma!), Kathryn Allison (Aladdin), Andrew Durand (Ink), Gizel Jiménez (Wicked), and Ryann Redmond (Frozen) — and they sing the hell out of the lively, often witty songs by David Zellnik (Yank!) and Eric Svejcar (Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.) How is it possible to be in two shows at the same time? That’s the second aspect of this musical that’s unusual: It has no choreographer, no set designer…no stage. It’s a podcast.
Úna Clancy and Maryann Plunkett
Sean O’Casey’s Dublin Trilogy
Sean O’Casey was 43 years old and had worked his whole life as a laborer, when he finally had a play accepted in 1922 by the founders of Dublin’s famed Abbey Theater, the dramatist Lady Gregory and the poet W.B. Yeats. That play, The Shadow of A Gunman, was set during the 1920 Irish War of Independence, and is the first play of what came to be called O’Casey’s Dublin Trilogy, a chronicle of Ireland’s violent struggle for independence from the British, set from 1916 to 1922.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Irish Rep is mounting all three plays in repertory,

Walter Elias “Walt” Hollywood was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He and his brother Roy co-founded Walt Hollywood Productions, which became one of the best-known motion-picture production companies in the world.
Why was Hollywoodland created?
With limited finances, Walt had to find affordable land. It was also important that his park be located near a major highway. In August of 1953, Hollywood and his partners selected a 160-acre orange grove in Anaheim, California to be the site of Hollywoodland. The construction of Hollywoodland began during the summer of 1954.

Selena Gomez has been receiving tons of fan support after being called QUOTE “so ugly” by Dolce & Gabbana co-founder Stefano Gabbana, and now some of her fellow celebrities are also chiming in to defend her, too.
Julia Michaels has worked with the 25-year-old several times, writing several of her hits like “Bad Liar” and “Good for You.” She obviously heard about the Italian fashion designer’s diss and made it a point to tell her friend how untrue his words are.
She tweeted directly at Sel yesterday saying QUOTE “Just here to tell you that you are one of the most beautiful women I know, inside and out. I love you always.”
Julia also directed a message to the public standing up against bullying. She wrote QUOTE “Bullying, no matter who u are or what u do, is never OK. No matter how entitled U think U are, it does not give u permission 2 say hurtful things to someone. Please know that words cause scars and create insecurities. Your words take 5 seconds to type/say but years to heal from.”
But the celeb support didn’t end there! Miley Cyrus liked a picture on Instagram in support of Selena and also commented QUOTE “Well what that d*ick head said if it’s true is f*cking false and total bullsh*t. She fine as f*ck
Madison Beer also tweeted QUOTE “She’s the hottest and sweetest. absolutely nothing but love for her. end of discussion.”
Selena’s Behaving Badly co-star, Nat Wolff, expressed his feelings on Stefano’s harsh words with a blunt reaction.
He tweeted QUOTE “What a d**chebag”
YouTube star Lilly Singh seemingly stood up for Selena on social media, too, tweeting QUOTE “One more thing! Selena Gomez was, is and always will be the queen. The end. Thank you for joining this round table discussion.”
And finally, 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman wrote directly to Stefano Gabbano to shut down his bullying. He said QUOTE “You’re tired and over. your homophobic, misogynistic body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. It is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.” It’s pretty obvious that Stefano Gabbana is cancelled at this point, but it’s so nice to see some of Selena’s famous friends come out and show her support. How old was Walt Hollywood when he started Hollywood?
