Do you like Linux distro/OS, or do you like complaining about other operating systems?

If debian is the linux distro for lesbians, and arch is the linux distro for trans girls, then the distro for trans lesbians is...
OpenSUSE? Fedora? NixOS?
#is there a distro that kind of combines parts of debian and arch?#or can somehow use both apt and pacman?#debian#arch linux#linux#OpenSUSE#fedora linux#nixos

ramble about FreeBSD and Unix~~
how out of my depth would I be trying to install FreeBSD?
would it even boot on my machine?
am I smart enough to go through the install for the system itself as well as get the GUI that I want?
I think you have to go through the command line for quite a bit of time before you get a GUI up and running....
I started off being really interested in BSD/Unix in high school, and tried to fiddle around with a BSD live disc thing in a book (that I don't remember the name of) and then only fiddled around with Linux.
I've been watching videos on youtube of people expressing how stable FreeBSD's modern release is~~
I want to use it on my own hardware; but that's a problem with it I believe, is that it works on sort of limited amount of hardware, as opposed to Linux, that you could even run on a toaster...
Is it really that much harder to deal with than Linux?
Of course I've only dealt with a few distros~~ the rundown of distros I've messed around with are;
Ubuntu (not anymore tho)
Debian (current os being Linux Mint Debian 6)
OpenSUSE briefly (tried to get my sibling to use it on their laptop, with them knowing next to nothing about Linux, sorry...)
Fedora back in high school, I ran it on a laptop for a while. I miss GNOME....
Mageia (I dual booted it on a computer running windows 7, also in or right after high school, so a long time ago)
attempted GhostBSD but it wouldn't boot after install from the live CD (also many years ago at this point)
I like to hop around and (hopefully now I have, yeah right...) I can't make up my mind which I actually want to use permanently.
Linux Mint Debian edition is really good so far tho~~!!
Current PC is an ASUS ROG Stryx (spelling?) that I bought on impulse many years ago~~ Was running windows 10, fixed the issue and now use the OS stated above~~
or maybe I should maybe ditch Mint and run straight Debian... Thought of that too. and it might have an easier time installing and actually booting than FreeBSD on this machine...
but then BSD and by extension unix is meant to be used on older hardware and to be efficient both in execution of things, and space.
"do one thing and do it well" iirc was a bit of the unix philosophy...
yeah, no I HATE technology /heavy sarcasm/

Hey! I'm a windows user, got a question for someone who is looking to make the jump, what distro do you think is the best to migrate over to?
I'm struggling to figure out Linux but like windows sucks ass so
linux mint. It's the uncontested champion for newcomers. It's reliable, fast, simple, and it just works.
Lot's of experienced linux users even use mint.
if you want something a little challenging though then ubuntu and Pop_OS! are both great alteratives.
#lots of the best beginner distro's are based on ubuntu; which is based on debian#so that may be a good start if you want to try something out#you can try arch tho..#just like jumping into a pack of hungry wolves

i wanna try a linux distro as a daily driver for a little bit but idk which one to use
#i work in cybersecurity so i would /prefer/ something debian based but#everything debian based is either old (and secure i guess) or ubuntu#also i dont wanna be one of those arch guys.#maybe i go with fedora and call it a day#but ugh i hate the name of that distro because of what neckbeards have done to it#also gnome is worse for customization i guess and fedora on kde sounds weird

undefined linux: a noise and drone linux distro
for your perusal, i present to you undefined linux (in lowercase please): the only distro of linux to my knowledge which is designed to deliver a seamless mindfuck of schizophrenia in the form of an actual operating system packed with over 16 hours of noise and drone music, disturbing images, an outdated wikipedia article on schizophrenia, and minimalist software to enjoy this content. it is derived from debian 11 and uses xfce4 as a desktop environment. it can be run on a virtual machine as an ISO file using software such as virt-manager or virtualbox, or “burned” to a usb thumbdrive and booted from the thumbdrive as a liveusb OS.
if burned to a thumb-drive or if the ISO is mounted, the music and images are accessible from the “staging” folder of the filesystem.
it is available for download from archive.org:
https://archive.org/details/undefined_linux
also, check out undefined label’s website:

but it feels fake if I don't at least have one stable-ish system running the os lmao

I run Debian Sid on laptops because red spiral go brrr.
don't pick linux distros based on your needs and hardware, pick them entirely based on how much you like the icon and mascot. everyone is using opensuse now, it's definitely well suited to all computer users

When you install Linux, beware, you will soon find yourself saying things like "shebang bin bash" and worse, you will say it to people who understand what you mean by it
