Last of the Dalek doodles inspired directly by my cosplay = ] With a redraw of the TARDIS photo and a detail of the deathray, which was probably the most challenging part of the cosplay to make after the helmet. Perhaps even the most, as I still can't get it to stay in one piece properly.

Here’s what I was hinting at. Chicken Run and Open Season👀🐓🐻 Boog was a little challenging, more so with his face and tootsies. And leave it to Ricky to insult a bear🤣

The songs are slick, tight and readying for the studio session.  If you haven’t yet experienced the pleasure of watching Strange Currencies…A band on the verge of not being ignored :-0… they present to you a pleasantly surprisingly good mix of rock, funk and blues original music ditties. Give a like Facebook
The summer heatwave is in its full sweaty, sweary Mary, sloth like day slumbers, after ‘no proper sleep’ at night shenanigans. We endured ‘The Beast From The East’ which gifted many with snow, chaos and commuter Hell. These are the sweltering times of unbearable armpits, Velcro sticky thighs, sunburn, dead lawns, sugar tax, frayed tempers, food banks and flat screen TV’s, sweaty underboobage for the ladies and for the blokes…let us say:
When a biscuity bollocks combination of digestives and overbearing aroma of supermarket fish counter on a bad day, mated, had kids, partied with maggots… then festered in wheelie bin with tins of opened dog meat. Were later found in a stagnant swamp with a very used rehearsal studio velvet padded drum stool. That stench then sits next to you on an empty bus, when you have a really bad hangover. This is the aftermath and endurance battle of heatwave Britain. We don’t have home air con and are not used to this deserted humidity, aka mugginess. There is little escape, bar a wet flannel and noisy fan in ones bedroom.
So before the dog days end, with swarming ‘bastard’ wasps, ineffective insect repellent, screams, sweat stinging eyes, rhubarb cider… the music began…
The band played 2 gigs, 2 counties on Saturday the 4th August. With some seriously good musical instrumentation from Steve Canner (Bass) Andrew Death (Guitar) Claudine West (Drums, Mandolin) Robert ‘Too Tall’ Batchelor (Harmonica and charm) complemented by the sonorous vocals of PP Johnson.
An intimate and loud afternoon set with not a sniff of a cover version in sight. The Brandy Wharf Festival happened by the river Ancholme ‘in the shadow of the Lincolnshire Wolds.’ It’s in its infancy and run by The Black Market venue team. Thank you for all of your hospitality, refreshments and Chilli.

Chapter 12! Time for more gym battles!
~~
The loss of the crutches was not, unfortunately, a return to freedom. Kevin still wasn’t supposed to overwork the joint or engage in strenuous activity. The problem being that if he spent another week in Fluto he was going to lose his mind, build a deathray, and take out the town. Literally. He was already working on it. So he was on his way again, still with Kwarrel accompanying him because 1) they apparently were both headed to Picolo City, and 2) this way whenever he decided Kevin was pushing himself too hard Kwarrel could plop him back on Ezen for the rest of the day.
This wasn’t a popular plan, but it worked, and in another few weeks they arrived in Picolo in good health, with reasonably high spirits (Kwarrel had some pretty good stories, for an old fart), and a freshly evolved Fang.
There was something nice about being back in a city, even if the crowds meant Kevin had to call Rose and Fang back into their balls to keep them out of trouble. He’d grown up in one and all those little towns and wide open spaces had felt a little weird. On the other hand, Kwarrel got antsy as soon as they met their first crowd and didn’t relax until they were securely inside the Pokemon Center. Which was fine, if he wanted out of the crowds he could do his own thing, they’d probably be happy to not dodge a Rhyhorn themselves, but then he had to go and crimp Kevin’s style what with insisting he make sure he had a room set up, and dinner in him, and a good night’s rest before challenging the gym.
Kevin may have listened- totally because Hemlock listened and not because he kind of wanted Kwarrel to keep hanging around being nice- but he was out the doors and following his nav’s map to the gym at daybreak.
The Picolo City Gym was again at a high point, though thankfully not the highest around. A plain-looking building on a small hill overlooking the bay, where everything smelled of salt and sea and Kevin got to side-eye several flocks of Wingull with the air of somebody who’d dealt with his fair share over the years. They weren’t to be trusted, even if he didn’t have food on him.
It was early enough in the morning that the gym trainers just blinked at him blearily as he strode in ready to go. Most likely nobody in the building had had breakfast yet, including him. But the good news was it was also early enough that the gym leader wasn’t hidden away in her office or anything, instead turning as the doors opened and flashing him a tired smile.
“Well, somebody just couldn’t wait, could they?” Kevin flashed a smug grin at her, confident in his team (or at least Rose and Hemlock).
“Winners never rest.” Her Drampa huffed, eyeing him with a measure of concern that had him bristling beneath the smile, but Monifa just shook her head and waved it aside.
“I’m Normal Master Monifa then,” she said, turning to go grab her team for the battle with the air of someone who hasn’t had enough coffee yet, “how many badges and pokemon do you have?”
“Kevin, one, and three.” He was tempted to not mention Fang, but was fairly certain he would’ve killed him in his sleep for doing anything that could avoid his battling. So he answered truthfully and went to his end of the arena with his chin held high and every certainty his team would steamroll through.
He was so young.
So innocent.
Monifa’s first pokemon was a Girafarig, so he felt secure sending out Rose to handle it, dark and psychic types squaring off across the battlefield. For a moment Kevin weighed his options, before deciding going all in was the best idea.
“Shockwave it, Rose!”
“Assurance!” The order got a cringe from him even before the Girafarig slammed itself into Rose. Her Shockwave hit first and that just made it worse, it’s attack more powerful if it’d taken damage immediately prior. Both pokemon skidded from the momentum, Rose in worse shape but in contact range and with some clue where her opponent was-
“Bite!”
“Stomp!” Lunging forward, Rose managed to wrap her teeth around the other pokemon’s foreleg, eliciting a pained cry from it before it brought one hoof down on her head, tearing her off along with a small chunk of itself. It wasn’t going to be able to stay in the fight, not with that wound. Or, well, it could, but it’d just be mean to make it. Monifa clearly agreed, immediately returning it to it’s ball and throwing out another. Kevin chewed his lip as her Furret appeared back on her side of the arena. Rose was looking wobbly, and he wasn’t sure if he should pull her back or-
“Quick Attack!” Or maybe the gym leader would make that decision for him. Her Furret rammed into Rose, sending her tumbling back and, in a horribly familiar scene, ensuring she wouldn’t be getting up again for this battle. Clenching his jaw, Kevin called her back, clutching her ball possessively, and motioned for Hemlock to take position. The Bayleef let out his equivalent of a battle cry.
“Reflect!” He probably hadn’t needed the command, he was smart enough, but he did as ordered, throwing up an invisible shield that would keep any contact moves from doing as much damage.
“Nice move,” Monifa called from across the arena, “smart. Use Slam!”
“Magical Leaf!” The Furret was faster by far, and even with the Reflect had buffeted him with his tail by the time Hemlock had gotten his move off.  At least the force of it put some space between them.
“Again!”
“Use Hidden Power!” Welp, that wasn’t a good sign. You could never be sure what type of attack that move would be, different as it was for each pokemon that used it. From the way Hemlock staggered back, even as the Furret was knocked around by his Magical Leaf, it wasn’t one they were going to enjoy. The round repeated itself, both pokemon being flung about by each other’s attacks, and again Hemlock got the worst of it, his legs shaking as Kevin looked on, his own confident sinking into a deep pit in his stomach.
“One more, Hem!”
“Again!” With a loud cry Hemlock let loose twice the rainbow leaves as normal, pulling heavy, deep breathes as they bypassed the burst of energy coming off the Furret. Both blows hit hard, sending their targets reeling back off their feet.
Neither one got back up.
Kevin’s hands shook as he returned the Bayleef to his ball, shoulders still only through an act of pure will. All he had left was Fang and… As Monifa released a Dunsparce onto the field, he threw Fang’s ultra ball and let the little orange cocoon have his shot.
The lack of confidence in his little Silcoon from the gym leader and the audience was deafening.
“Stringshot!” Monifa didn’t even call out an attack, just letting Fang shoot some sticky silk at her Dunsparce. The pity when Kevin flicked his gaze from the battle to her was enough to make him bristle. There wasn’t anything else Fang could do from the distance between them, and they both knew that there was no way for him to actually win this fight. He glared at her.
“Alright,” she sighed, “Body Slam.” Kevin flinched, eyes squeezing shut as his little shiny went flying past his shoulder.
He didn’t stay to listen to whatever anyone had to say, recalling him as he stormed out with his fists clenched, teeth grinding, bristling enough that the early morning crowd parted before him. Nurse Joy’s platitudes slid off his back like water off a Psyduck as he huddled in his jacket while waiting for his pokemon to be healed, and once that was done he was gone again, snatching up just enough of his things so that he could wedge himself into some back corner of the Center and try to distract himself with a project.
Another loss. Another stupid loss. It was- He had more losses than wins so far. What sort’ve worthless trainer had more losses than wins? He shouldn’t have any losses! He was better than that! He should’ve been better than that…
He stayed like that, with Hemlock and Rose eventually coming out to form a wall between and the rest of the world and Fang stowed safely in his jacket, the rest of the day.

✼ - Do you think the character/characters you role play as reflect who you are?
Its Munday Munday/Still accepting
Yes and No, and I will say more. Link and Charlie are no. They are OCs based on two of my friends that come from their fics versions of them. Same goes for their kids. I didn’t try to put any of my traits in them. Kirito is a kinda. His whole trait is always helping his friends, and can come across as kinda stoic. I’ve been told I can be, and I always do my best to help my friends. Jolt is yes because he is stubborn, and its just a family trait for my family to be stubborn as a fault. Ron is yes like Jolt. Him being a self-insert for my own fic yes. In all three of his versions he has something from me. Like being claustrophobic, and getting sea sick. His courage is mine, and even how he reacts is literally reflected on me. And his always happy to help attitude is based on me as well. The guest muses are a blend of yes and no. Chaos for sure has no reflection on me. Percival is no as well because his main trait is being the smart guy with all the answers, and being aloof as well. Deathrai and Jolt Zacks are yes because their love of challenges. That and Deathrai’s take action Horde attitude does match up with me.  Quick-step and Isaac both reflect courage. Delta and Kenway are no. Delta being based off a friend, and Kenway had no attention. Fray is also this, but I can’t say more about him because spoilers

Rewind to the turn of the century with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 track list • Eurogamer.net
It’s been 21 years since the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and 20 years since its follow-up. I don’t remember every level or skater from those games – but I do remember their soundtracks.
Those early entries are linked indelibly to that time – and to skater culture specifically – because of the jams they included. Happily, almost every track is back for the upcoming Pro Skater 1 & 2 remaster alongside dozens of other tracks from the era.
That means you can listen back to THPS classics like Goldfinger’s Superman and Papa Roach’s Blood Brothers while skanking to newer additions from Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake and Billy Talent.
(Oh, and despite earlier reports, Kotaku has confirmed a couple more classic tracks have made the cut. By our reckoning, that means only three – Committed by Unsane, B-Boy Document ’99 by The High & Mighty and Out With The Old by Alley Life – aren’t back.)

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 combines remastered versions of both much-loved skating games into one package, and is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on 4th September.
As you’d expect in 2020, online multiplayer is now included, and there’s online support for the returning Create-A-Park feature too. Activision also says to expect new goals and challenges. Finally, if you pre-order, you can play a demo of the game’s Warehouse level ahead of release.
A taster of its punk, hip-hop and ska-filled soundtrack can be found on Spotify, or you can see the full listing below:

Festival Review: Handmade Festival 2018 - Saturday
Tumblr media
Two rather incredible things happened this Bank Holiday weekend; one, the sun actually shone, something unheard of since records began (disclaimer: hmmm – not actually true but you know what the UK is like when it comes to dismal weather over a Bank Holiday). Two, we had the pleasure of sampling Handmade Festival in Leicester – thankfully it’s a festival that champions new acts and doesn’t plug slots with 90s nostalgia and washed up 00’s band that were crap the first time around. Traversing soundscapes from indie-pop to grunge-rock to visceral punk to wonderful noise, Handmade Festival offered up a veritable feast for the ears (plus the food choices were bloody brilliant too), so without further ado this is our roundup of Saturday’s acts that tickled our proverbial pickle…
Tumblr media
If you’re a seasoned festival goer, picking the first band you see is vital, catch an act that’s a bit ‘meh’ and you’re starting your weekend of music on the wrong foot; an opening act is just as important as the headliner: Anteros kicked off our Handmade Festival experience with gusto, with the four-piece opening up the Union Square stage with a delightful dollop of indie-pop that’s danceable and undeniably catchy.  In Laura Hayden the quartet have a captivating frontperson, as the vocalist commanded the stage as if the foursome were headlining the whole shebang; expect to see the London outfit dominate 2019. Following Anteros’ jangly guitar-pop comes the rough ‘n’ ready Rascalton with a sound that straddles indie’s sense of melody and punk’s untamed aggression; the band rattle through a 30-minute set fuelled by an upfront swagger and a vital dose of agit-punk. She Makes War sprinkles an ample helping of fairy dust across Handmade, as chief protagonist Laura Kidd graced the stage with a lavish smear of blue glitter across her eyes and a sound that switches from expansive pop and alt-rock stormers, plus there’s the briefest appearance of a teal ukulele amongst the grandiose walls of sound.
Tumblr media
Speaking of walls of sound, one of the loudest sets of the whole weekend comes courtesy of Crosa Rosa, the grungey trio taking to the o2 Academy’s main stage and in doing so almost take the roof off the entire venue. In a swirl of riffs, massive drums and lots of hair, the Nottingham trio deliver one of the standout sets of the weekend – it’s as if the possessed soul of Nirvana has challenged DZ Deathrays and Pulled Apart By Horses to a psychedelic death match. After colossal set from Crosa Rosa we wanted to take five minutes to soak up the brilliance we’d just witnessed but with so many stellar bands on the bill, there’s no time to muck about and luckily for us we didn’t go for lay down as we’d have missed the superb Indoor Pets. Formerly known as Get Inuit, the plucky indie-punk scamps (think of the geeky wasteland between Weezer and Vampire Weekend) charge through a bevy of infectious tunes that spark off a domino effect of widespread smiles, sing-alongs and jerky dance moves. Wonderfully upbeat and unashamedly fun, the Kent band are built for festivals – no wonder they’ve been asked back to play Handmade year after year.
Tumblr media
Midway through Peaness’ sumptuous mid-evening set bassist Jess remarks that it’s a shame Handmade Festival isn’t outside given the freakishly good weather, but this matters not when the Chester based band are pure vitamin D. With a pop sound that’s drenched in summery vocal harmonies and choppy, sun dappled guitar licks – yeah there’s doses of melancholy amongst the trio’s jangly infectiousness but that’s what makes Peaness such an alluring band. Pulling in one of the biggest and most enthusiastic crowds of the weekend, even the band seemed surprised at the scorching welcome that Handmade had in store for them but with such a tongue-in-cheek name and the kind of earworms they produce, there’s no doubting everyone loves Peaness.
Tumblr media
Catchy but in an entirely different way Dream Nails come out swinging with a combative performance fuelled by million-mile-an-hour punk with the occasionally smattering of pop. There’s a vitriol that burns deep within the belly of Dream Nails, a group that staunchly champion women’s rights; especially the manifesto of girls to the front at gigs. They’re the sound of the #metoo generation and the dichotomy to the vile misogyny tagged to the likes of Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump. God knows right now we need bands like Dream Nails. Low Island’s indie-tronica is a curveball compared to the more riotous bands on offer at Handmade plus their unusually high billing (one band underneath second stage headliners The Big Moon) means they play to a small selection of inquisitive punters and not the full room you’d want.  With only 3 EPs under their belts, the Oxford act are still in their infancy but with their rhythmic, organic dance music, it’ll only be a matter of time before they’re following in the footsteps of Foals and (dare we say it) Radiohead.
Tumblr media
Taking to the stage like bona-fide headliners, The Big Moon close off the festival’s second stage as if they’re playing a mate’s back garden, as it’s evident the foursome are having an absolute ball as they canter through prime cuts from their debut LP ‘Love in the 4th Dimension’. Sing-alongs are had, beaming smiles are exchanged and there’s even time to squeeze in a cover of Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’. The knockout trio of ‘Formidable’, ‘Bonfire’ and ‘Sucker’ bring their set and the first day of Handmade to an exhilarating close. We file out of the Union Square stage with our musical appetite well fed, knowing that tomorrow will bring another smorgasbord of noisy delights.
