S/N: I’m so sorry that this took so long D: I really didn’t anticipate being so swamped and stressed by uni in the first week. BUT HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SUNSHINE JISUNG! (I’m a day late but typical Eileen is only productive at ungodly hours of the day)

A familiar bell sounded as Jisung walked into his favourite cafe. The aroma of freshly ground beans and carrot muffins welcomed him into the cozy, dimly lit coffee shop. The soothing ambience made him feel really comfortable like he could sit there and write music forever. As he walked up to the counter, he noticed a female figure sitting in his usual spot by the front window, bopping to music as she drew lines into her sketchbook.

“Welcome back, Jisung,” his friend, Seungmin said behind the counter.

“Hey, Seungmin. Can I get a mocha latte with a cream cheese bagel?”

“At this point, I already have your order ready. Here. It looks like you’ll have to find somewhere else to enjoy your food though.” Seungmin hands Jisung a piping hot latte in one hand and the bagel in another as his eyes motions towards the mysterious girl.

“Thanks, man, do you happen to know who she is?”

“Her name is y/n, she’s in my psychology lecture but I think she’s a visual art major.”

“Oh cool, thanks again Seungmin.” Jisung waved before making his way to a spot different from his usual one. It felt a bit different, a little less warm. He enjoyed sitting near the window because the sunlight would hit him in just the right way where he felt enveloped by the heat, yet he wasn’t blinded by the light at the same time. Now he just felt a chilly breeze as he sat down in the wooden chair, unfamiliar with the butt grooves that he was so accustomed to in his old seat.

He kind of just sat there for a while, staring at your profile while you swayed to the music playing from your earbuds. He wondered what kind of person you were. What kind of person would sit in the spot that so many people typically hate? A lot of customers come to the shop and they would often leave if the window seat was the only one left. People found it distractingly bright and hot sitting there and also super annoying when they had to maneuver through the sun’s rays in an attempt to avoid the glare on their phones. Jisung was one of the only people that enjoyed and claimed that spot, and apparently, you did too.  

A few hours passed and as much as Jisung tried to focus on writing music, he found himself stealing glances at you until you finally collected your things and walked out of the cafe.

Shit, who knows when I’ll ever see her again…

Luckily, he did see you again, almost every day in fact. You became quite the regular and always happened to be sitting by the window before he got there. Not that Jisung cared though, because he kind of enjoyed looking at your profile. Every day he would learn new things about you, like your little quirks and habits. From the way you would scrunch up your face when you had to erase your hard work, or how you would swing your legs while thinking, to the way you would sip your drinks, no matter the temperature, through a stir stick, because it helped you preserve the drink longer. He thought everything you did was cute, even the way you struggled to hop out of your chair because it was way too high for a high chair (bc honestly same).

Weeks have gone by since Jisung has been ‘glancing’ (more like staring) at you from across the café, and he finally decided to do something about it. And by do something about it, I mean ask Seungmin about your whereabouts.

“Hey Seungmin, pal, best friend. Wassup!” he said walking up to the counter.

“What do you want Jisung, are you finally done staring at y/n? Just take a picture, it lasts longer.”

“SHUSH she might hear you!!” Jisung frantically looked around to make sure you were still listening to music.

“She’s about as focused on her work as you are on her jeez.”

“Hey. Shut up. Anyways…. Do you happen to know if…. y/n has a… boyfriend? Just asking for a friend.”

Seungmin smirked, “Hmm, I can’t recall. Maybe if your FRIEND could maybe, I don’t know, buy me chicken, I might remember.”

“FINE I wi- I mean, my FRIEND will.”

“Okay well, from what I’ve heard, she’s pretty popular among boys, but I don’t know anything else besides that.”

“THAT’S IT? THAT’S WHAT I GET FOR BUYING YOU CHICKEN? Of course, she’s popular among boys! HAVE YOU SEEN HER. SHE’S FREAKING ADORABLE!.... I said that a little too loud didn’t I?” Jisung blushed.

“Yes, yes you did. Now if you’re done fanboying over her, I would like to get back to work, a line is forming behind you.”

After countless hours of practice in the mirror, Jisung finally gathered the courage to ask you out on a date. He got to the café an hour earlier than when you usually arrive to prepare himself for what’s to come next.

“What if she says no? WHAT IF SHE THINKS I’M CREEPY? OH MY GOSH. I MEAN I WOULDN’T LIKE IT IF SOME STRANGER SPENT ALL THEIR TIME JUST STARING AND FANTASIZING ABOUT ME.” Jisung paced back and forth causing a ruckus, and leading some of the customers to slowly back out of the door.

“Jisung shut up, you have nothing to worry about. Plus you’re scaring away business.”

Jisung sat down to catch his breath. “Sorry, I’m just so nervous. I just never felt this way about someone that I actually don’t know. SHE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW MY NAME! If I mess up, you’re going to lose a regular customer too!”

Seungmin sighed and put a reassuring hand on Jisung’s back, “Like I said before, you have nothing to worry about. If only you saw the drawings of you in her sketchbook…” saying the last part under his breath.

The door’s bell disrupted Jisung’s panicked thoughts and shook him to reality.

I’m going to do this.

He walked up to you a moment after you sat down. He wiped his clammy hands on his dark wash jeans before tapping you on the shoulder.

When you turned around to and made eye contact with him, he felt the air leave his lungs. He stood there for a while, mouth agape, before coughing up some words.

“HeyIusuallydon’tdothisbecauseIknowhowcreepythiscomesofas, BUT Ithinkyou’rereallycoolandIknowyoudon’tknowmynameandyouprobablyhaveamanbecause WOW YOU’RE REALLY CUTE andyourartworkisAMAZING ANNNDDDD-” Jisung inhaled deeply before continuing.

“WHAT I’M TRYING TO SAY ISSSSS would you...maybe… grab food and g-get to know each other?”

“Yes, Jisung, I would love that.” you gave him your biggest, most beautiful smile.

“REALLY?!!??!” he almost jumped for joy. “WAIT, how did you know my name?”

You giggled at how cute he was (those cheeks uwu), “Hmm, is it creepy to say that I maybe looked at you through the reflection of the glass window and maybe stole glances at you when you weren’t looking?”

Jisung smiled warmly, “No, not at all.”
