I've sold about 5000 LP's online over the last 14 years and only ever had 3 be broken in transit. Ween is not a band for everybody.

In fact, you either really like them, or you think they’re the weirdest fucking band ever, and you’d like to listen to something else.

Ever since I heard the opening notes of “Little Birdy” from their fantastically bizarre 1992 album Pure Guava, they have always been for me.

I first heard that album upon it’s release while I was in Junior High School. It seemed like the fringiest of fringe music; weird morphed vocals, adventurous song structures, songs about flies on dicks, pushing daisies, and poop ship destroyers. All made by two guys that, if I had to guess, were not making this kind of music sober.

Since that album, I was all in with Ween, reveling in every great artistic statement to the next, and White Pepper is, for me, the band’s high watermark.

White Pepper is arguably Ween’s most accessible album. A pretty obvious nod to The Beatles, it is a stellar masterclass in psychedelic pop songwriting, but isn’t completely absent of the types of things that attracted hardcore Ween fans to the band to begin with. 

“Exactly Where I’m At”, “Flutes Of The Chi”, “Even If You Dont”, “Bananas And Blow”, “Back To Basom”, “The Grobe”. These are songs I have listened to a million times, and they are just as exciting and mystifying to me some 19 years later.

Just an absolute classic album, and one of my favorite rock records of all time.
