Hellou! Another ask for you darling, because I'm struggling to put this into words in the fic I'm writing and I need help and to talk it out... In NY, what made Ran realise that she liked/loved Shinichi? Bc I've always been inclined to think that the speech about "The Reason" makes Ran realise she did good when she saved Rose, but now I'm not really sure... Any insights? If you don't know, just random rambling about ShinRan will make my day anyway! Abraçades!

I’m with you, I always thought it was his speech about helping someone what made her fall in love with him –or, rather, realize that she’d been in love with him since, like, forever. 

I think it’s kind of what you said. It’s not the speech in itself, but rather the emotions that Ran felt because of it. Ran blames herself for a lot of things that aren’t actually her fault, and saving Rose was a pretty big one of them. So the fact that Shinichi says that, Shinichi who she loves, Shinichi who she’s known since forever, Shinichi who she can always depend on and trust in… It means the world. It means that she can take those words to heart immediately. It means that he’s right, and it wasn’t her fault. 

Beyond that, Shinichi has just helped her save someone who people wouldn’t usually save. So he’s proved to her that she did well, that he would do the same thing, that they’re the same in that sense. 

What I’m trying to say, in the simplest way possible because it makes sense in my head but I didn’t quite know how to put it into words, is that with that speech, Shinichi makes Ran realize that she shouldn’t be afraid of who she is. He makes her realize that her great heart, that her kindness, her will to see the best in people and to give everyone a second chance is what makes her strong. It’s what makes her unbelievably beautiful. And it’s also, mainly, why he’s enamored with her. 

And that, for a person like Ran who is constantly doubting herself, is so important. Because she honestly believes that she caused someone to die because she was kind enough to save someone. Do you know how terrible that is to think? How much that eats at someone from inside? 

And Shinichi just knows. Even before Ran realizes, when they’re in the taxi, immediately he’s like “please don’t think it was your fault.” Because there’s no one in the world who understands her better. But of course Ran wouldn’t believe him if he told her directly, because that’s who Shinichi is, because he’s her best friend, because he wants to make her feel better always. 

But if Shinichi says it to a serial killer they’ve just saved? Maybe he does truly believe it. Maybe it is really true. 

Maybe Ran didn’t cause a man to die after all. 

Ran, of course, doesn’t process all of that immediately when she hears Shinichi say that to Vermouth. It’s something that, through the years, she understands. She understands that that one speech made her realize it was okay to be who she is, that being so open-hearted was an amazing thing. And Shinichi made her realize it. The same Shinichi that had done so much for her during NY. The Shinichi that took the time to get into an abandoned building and face a serial killer just to get her handkerchief back. The same Shinichi that’s now, almost officially, a detective. 

The same Shinichi that has saved her time and time and time again. 

And not only physically. 

Shinichi’s speech in that precise moment speaks to her because it saves her soul from being consumed by her guilt. 

Ran saves Shinichi, I’ve said this before, but look, perhaps Shinichi saves Ran as well. 

In any case, I have to add, on a personal note, that’s it’s hard not to fall for Shinichi when he says that. I remember watching it as a kid (I was maybe 10 years old) and understanding that there was so much truth to his words, that I had to take them to heart and live by them. And I was 10, and Shinichi was a character on my television. 

So imagine what that’s like for Ran, who treasures and loves and adores and cherishes this boy more than anything else in the entirety of the universe.

6. How do you find new fics to read? Where do you primarily read fanfiction?

So I usually find fics the good ole hard way 😂 if there is like a pairing I am dying to read, I’ll just go on AO3 or fanfiction and change the filters. So before tumblr I would find them on my own and just read what ever I thought sounded like something I would enjoy reading from the summary. Now tho since I DO have a tumblr, a lot of things I see on my dash that other people I follow either posted or reblogged and I read that. I just don’t have as much time anymore to do it how I used to 😭 I’m sure I miss a lot of good fics because of it 🥺

9. Tag 3 writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.

You know, this goes back to the first question as well because I don’t know as many anymore. I don’t know what fandom you are apart of anon of but for SasuSaku I think I would say @kylieismc2. I don’t think she gets nearly as much love on tumblr as I thought she would! For DCMK- DCSR392 is one! impossibleorimprobable is one as well for DCMK! Teaplease1717 for BNHA is also amazing! circumference for DCMK! @trouvelle and @meitanteisachi also post not only stories on AO3 and fanfic but if you follow them here they post drabbles quite often as well! And I can’t forget @jaroslavlewis. I’m just gonna shamelessly plug everybody I follow so please go check out everybody cause I know there are way more than what I said!

16. Do you research your fics? If so, how deep of a rabbit hole have you gone down by accident when researching?

Ong you have no idea 😭 do you have any idea how long it took me to find and search up the actual soccer season time in Japan for Interview Mania. Cause I honestly had no idea off the top of my head and for some reason apparently no one else on the first page of google knew either. I probably should’ve just asked on here and it would’ve save a lot of time 😂 there was this other kachako fic I was doing for BNHA and I was literally in so deep I was looking at the rail line in Japan to figure out how long certain trips but train were. And after a bit I was like wtf am I doing 😂 but yes I do it quite often

17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?

Oh my this one made me LOL. So I used to be really bad at this. I have my accounts linked to my email so I got a notification if someone commented, sent me a PM, or even left me a kudo. And I would just refresh my email like every little bit to see if I got anything. Like I’ll go eat dinner- check it. Take a shower- check it. After a bit you realize that everybody is on a different time zone and most of the time not on the same one as me, so they honestly probably haven’t it seen it yet. But most of the time when I update, I do so at night. I did that always and would stay up to see if I got feedback but now I’ll go do something else and won’t touch my phone until the next day on break at work so I don’t obsessively drive myself crazy 😂 also, I realize that just because someone doesn’t say anything, I see the views and know people read it and it makes me happy. Like I would of course love comments out the whazoo but I understand some people just don’t feel comfortable to do it or they just don’t have anything to say or they might not even like it and that’s fine. I get a lot more reviews than I thought I would to be honest and people will also send me anons to check in on my story sometimes or PM. That and people actually ask me to go more in depth or have questions about characterizations on them- which I appreciate cause I think it helps a lot. People have even drawn things based on Interview Mania and that just blew my mind. Was literally tear inducing

Ilusió la que em fa a mi, tia. Molta gent ha vist Conan de petits, però tu els sents, i ets la primera persona amb la que puc compartir-ho! El London Arc va ser increïble. No he penjat gairebé res al twitter, però allò era un must. És genial haver trobat el teu blog, i t’he de reiterar que comparteixo absolutament totes les opinions i anàlisis que has fet, ets brutal!

If my deduction is right (pun intended) you grew up with the same Conan I did, and their Catalan voices were everything to me (if not, I’m sorry!) I don’t think I’d love ShinRan as much if it wasn’t for OscarM and NuriaT voicing them, and to see you as invested as me is just amazing. That London Arc, I deaded so hard! Gràcies per totes les coses boniques que m’has dit!! La veritat és que el tag em fa mal cada cop que l’escric, però aquella escena al final d’Un retorn perillós encara em fa mal quan la veig, i alhora em fa venir tot d’emocions increïbles. I, sincerament, crec que hi ha poques coses que resumeixin millor ShinRan que aquest tag, no creus? Per tant, ja ho sabem. Diu que vol que l’esperis. 

En quant al doblatge, tens tota la raó del món i més! Sóc la ultramega defensora del doblatge en general (considero que és tot un art quan es fa bé, i que la gent no el valora ni la meitat del que es mereix), i gran part d’això és perquè vaig créixer amb tots aquests animes amb els què suposo que també vas créixer tu! Només de sentir les veus, ja em poso a somriure!
