He got out, hearing the familiar squeak of the car door shutting, and walked in the store. He yelled, “Hey! Who runs this piece of shit?” Both the twins turned. It was Jimmy who was stocking the bookshelves, Cas was behind the counter. They both broke out in those gummy smiles that lit up the entire place. “Dean!” Jimmy ran to him and grabbed him in a rib-crushing hug. Cas started towards him from around the counter. Dean hugged Jimmy back, and broke away to hug Cas. Trying not to think about how good each of them felt in his arms, Dean stepped back.

Summary - James Novak was every bit of the description of his name; a follower. He followed his parents' orders to be an actor. He followed his managers orders to be a train wreck. He would have followed his publicity stunt of an alpha boyfriend had it not been for the night that he followed a scent that lead him to finally following his own dreams and become open to a world he never knew of.

“No offence,” Jimmy started looking at the faces on the television and the faces in front of him, he was watching a news station from back home; home which was thousands of miles away. “But, how the fuck are you here?”

“Oh that’d be me.” Castiel said raising his hand. “Angel of the lord.”

“Angel?” Jimmy coughed out.  

“Uh, yeah.” Dean spoke as he walked to sit next to Jimmy leaving Castiel alone to stand by the door. “So, angels, demons, monsters, those all exist. We were going to ease you into that part, but Cas can’t keep his mouth shut about the whole angel thing. I’m a hunter, we hunt the bad things together.”

“WHAT?” Jimmy felt like he was dreaming. He had to be right? Michael must have hit him and he didn’t remember it and he’ll wake up in bed a bloodied mess.

“You’re not dreaming.” Castiel told him as he moved closer to the couch to kneel in front of Jimmy. “Well, not exactly how you thought. Michael did leave and this is real, it just that we aren’t physically here.”

“You lost me again,” Jimmy cocked his head to the side looking between the two people he could swear are in front of him.

“It’s called dream weaving. Castiel put us into your dream. You’ll be able to find us if you just want to follow the smell of me. You know you remember it.” Dean moved close enough to place a kiss on his cheek and Jimmy swore the smell was there from all those years ago, he closed his eyes to live in the moment of almost being kissed by his true mate.

He woke up with a gasp to angry knocking on his trailer door. Rubbing his eyes Jimmy sighed and got up to check who it was.

Turns out they're all being hunted by the same thing, and Dean's power is dwindling and the twins can't even touch theirs. Alone, none of them stood a chance, but together, they just might...

“Dean, hey, aren’t you supposed to be working?”

“Yeah, but somethings come up,” Dean said, entering the spare room and snapping his fingers. Lights came on. Not magic, but one of those clap on, clap off devices. Witch or no, magic wasn’t nearly as easy to work as those Harry Potter movies made it out to be.

Especially when you were cut off from your source of power, as his family had been, for centuries now.

The light illuminated the room: the workspace he’d created with his secret library, the herbs on drying racks dotted about the room in various stages of curing, the heavy wooden workbench with what looked like a mad scientist’s experiment bubbling away. There was an old-fashioned cauldron beside it and a couple of trunks under the table and against the wall. There was assorted bric-a-brac strewn what looked like haphazardly about the room, but each item was in a specific place – either for safety or for ease of reach.

Dean placed the phone on the table and pressed speaker before going over to the bookshelf and scanning the titles. He filled Sam in as he did, Sam making appropriate noises along the way.

“ – and so I went down to the school myself this morning before it opened to the faculty. Now, you know I can’t feel energies the way you can, but I could swear there was a… a malevolent cloud hanging over the place. I didn’t see anything suspicious, but I was able to snag a piece of the debris.”

“Jesus, Dean,” Sam said over the phone. “So, do you think Jimmy’s got an enemy or was he just collateral damage?”

Sam didn’t have to say who’s collateral damage, though Dean sure as hell hoped that if he was, it wasn’t because he knew Dean.

“That’s what I aim to find out.” Dean pulled a book off the shelf. “What do you think of using one of the Rowena Divination spells?”

“Hmm… a little showy, drains a lot of reserves, but they’re fucking accurate,” Sam approved. “If there is something there, the right spell will not only tell you it’s there, but what it’s after.”

Schedule Change

I sent an email to everyone but in the event that someone does not get it I am making it clear here that there has been a change to the schedule.

Author final draft submission and promo materials due: Wednesday May 29, 2019Promos start Saturday June 1, 2019 If any author is completed with their final draft they can submit sooner. Hi, I was wondering if you have a schedule for future big bangs, I missed the sign up and would like to be prepared for the next?

Hey there! 

Unfortunately, due to the mods crazy lives we do not have a schedule for the 2019 DCJ Big Bang yet. I can give you a tentative time frame of sign ups probably starting in December and postings in May/June. That is subject to change. 

One of our fantastic Mods (@unforth-ninawaters) had to step back because of life (Congrats on the new baby!!!) so it is just two of us now. So it depends on what the cards the universe holds. 

As soon as we know the schedule for the next sign-ups we will let folks know as well. It is usually closer to the end of the year though. 

However!

We will most likely (most definitely) be hosting another hiatus challenge this summer. We have not figured out the details or if it will be the same thing as last year but it will happen. So keep your eyes out for that come the looong hiatus from Supernatural this summer. 

We hope that this answered your question, if not, let us know. We are happy to clarify things. Remember: Communication is key!
