D:BH Reverse Big Bang 2024

finally, here's the first chapter of my entry for the Detroit: Become Human Reverse Big Bang 2024! I was paired with the wonderfully talented @insignova. you can find the incredible art for this fic on their account.

thank you to the @dbh-bb mod team for making this event possible and to my amazing partner for trusting me with such a great concept. I really hope I did it justice!

A year ago, an endless storm swallowed the world, trapping the people of Belle Isle on their small island indefinitely. Legends dating back centuries say that storms at sea are caused by the Great Dragon of the Sea, a god that dwells in the deep, and that the only way to stop them is to appease its anger. Hank’s not sure he believes all of the stories– not until the storms take his son. Desperate to get him back, Hank joins a team of adventurers on a quest to find the Dragon in the hope that it will have answers about Cole’s fate. 

Hank isn’t the only one looking for answers. Out at sea, the crew discover they have a stowaway on board, an amnesiac named Connor who’s forgotten everything about who he is and believes the sea has answers. Together, Hank and Connor embark on a journey to take back what they’ve lost and to find out who they really are.

If he can tempt Connor into committing each of the seven deadly sins, that should be enough to get his boss off his back. He just needs to convince Connor to eat a box of Oreos. Get him to smoke a little weed. Try to get him laid. Easy enough. Straightforward.

DBH Big Bang 2023 time!!

So excited to be a part of this year’s DBHBB!

I got to work with some absolutely incredibly people during this project. The fic I had the pleasure of making a few pieces for is called All’s Fair in Love and War and I’m telling you I frOTH OVER IT!!!

@leelany-world wrote it and you all should definitely check them out if you haven’t already!

This piece is done based off of their 2nd chapter and I hope you all read the fic to the end because it is to die for!

This was my first ever big bang that I got to participate in and I’m so happy to say it was definitely a very memorable one!

Although this has been the toughest year for art, I’m really grateful for this event as it pushed me out of my comfort zone and back into the world of creating pieces for myself and for things I love. Thank you, everyone, for all the support, encouragement, and inspiration.

FIC RECS!!! Im so glad that you used the list and im more happy that you liked them!!! Admittedly im not in the tag as much as I was early on but I do still have a few recommendations!! All that it meant (and all that it did not) (by @yb-cringe) - On going Fantsy AU fic focusing on Fit and Ramon. only has one chapter so far but I like it a lot. Since it's only one chapter i don't want to spoil much, but the world building seems super interesting with Madagio and the border and everything. It's a prequel to a Fitpac fic that will get written later but I love fit and ramon fics so this is amazing. I'm really interested to see where it will go

I'm worried 'bout the future, aint fuckin' with the past (by @tastytoastz) - On going Time Travel AU where Tazercraft travels back in time 8 years to 2b2t. If you haven't seen me reblogging every chapter of this and freaking out, please take this as the sign to read it. It's a wonderful look at how 2b affected Fit especially while he was in the middle of it, and how it still affected him years later on Quesadilla island. It's such a good fic like everything Toast writes <333

Lightning and Thunder (by ..... Tastytoast (you can fight me if me recommending literally everything toast has ever written is a problem (/j /lh)) - One shot were Fit has trauma from lighting storms on 2b2t and Pac comforts him when one causes him to panic. Very sweet fic of protective fitmc. It's also an english translation of Blixtar och dunder (also by Toast).

Maybe you really are Alive (by @yourfauxentropy) - On going, Detroit Become Human AU , also only one chapter so far. Pac is Connor and Fit is Hank. I had a big dbh phase so im really looking forward to this one and seeing what they add

I think your roommate is hotter (by @fitpacs) - One-shot were Pac and Cellbit are friends with benefits but Pac meets Cellbit's new roommate Fit and it goes from there. It's really good and one of my favorites from Fitpacs. I read it a while ago honestly surprised it wasn't on my first list

hypotheticals (by @tinkatonic) - One-shot of Fit and Pac in different worlds, and in some of them they get to kiss. A bunch of mini peaks into different AU's like royalty, roommates, and a few others i don't want to spoil. But it's absolutely lovely and I love all of the au's so much.

Hideduo Stardew Valley AU (by @hepbaestus) - This is a series as opposed to a one shot or chapter-ed fic, but it's a Rose Family centric au series (including Rosa, Fitpacs fan child) They're all so cute, the last one made me cry. Im also happy that Richas is getting included in Rose Family stuff, i feel like he gets left out a lot.

to love is to be changed (by hepbaestus) - One-shot fic following the popular headcannon that the eggs adapted features of their parents, and this is when Ramon's eyes change to look like pacs. It's so sweet and wonderful. Hep my beloved.

Like a parody of Tantalus (by InconvenientImmortal; @shikai-the-storyteller here on tumblr) - Ongoing (?) Pac centric fic that hasn't been updated in a while, but it's still amazing. It focus on pac's relationship with food, love, and him growing up. This first chapter is so wonderful and his relationship with Isa is so sweet. There's only one chapter so far but if it ever updates i would love to keep reading it.

Teeth, Talons, and Hearts (by WyldChild) - On going modern au (i think?) where most of our cast were federation experiments but all broke out at some point and dedicate themselves to helping others who are lab experiments. They rescue 11 dragon hybrid kids and thats about where the fic is, but it follows Fit's pov and it's going to be FitPac eventually, and raising Ramon and Richas. It is a pretty dark au, the federation are EVIL, and the kids have been through hell, so pay attention to the tags and the warnings before reading. I can easily see how this isn't everyones cup of tea, but im liking it so far.

heaven found in a hellhole. (by kmsquill) - One shot purgatory fic where fit and pac get stuck in a hole hiding from Bolas and they spend that time talking and totally just being roommates. I think it's best described with two of the tags they have '#kissing #woah who put that kissing tag there' My favorite purgatory fic, honestly should have submitted it to the awards.

I said I had a few and i think this list is almost the same length as the last one. There's at least 4 more that I haven't read yet so i don't want to recommend them yet but once I do i'll probably make another post. Hope this has some stuff you would be interested in!!!

I don't think that's silly! Bc honestly making sideblogs is so high stakes for me in the first place, and honestly it's a funny story, so I joined Tumblr in high school, I think I'd seen a bunch of Tumblr screenshots on Pinterest and like, Facebook, first so I wanted to get in on all the memes and shit. I was restroom-pizza for years, and I don't remember exactly where on the timeline I made dirty-droids but after I got into dbh, I made a group chat for Hankcon that was 18+ and started making friends. It was my first time really being social with fandom online, I'd only ever lurked before.

Then I started roleplaying and that inspired me to write fic and somewhere in there I made my dbh sideblog so I could make more friends and get more attention 😅 I wanted to be a big fandom name, idk if I ever got there. But I tried making art for a second there (it was a lot of tracing reference images) and I posted Connor ass of my own exactly once and got my whole account nuked. So when I remade my Tumblr, I made Dirty-droid my main and made my general fandom blog a side blog instead so I could fandom as hard as I could (mostly just so I could reply to posts without looking like a completely different person)

The second question is do I collect anything, and honestly? I don't know 😅 not purposely anymore, I used to get a lot of little figurine statues of like, cats and dogs and horses because my grandma knew I liked them, but I guess it's all more touch and go these days. Money is tight, but me and my fiance tried to start collecting rainbow high dolls, but only got like, four dolls 😅 we do get art things here and there to cover the walls and I like those, but other than that?? ... Debt? 🫣😬😅

I'll try and post some pictures of how we've decorated the house here soon, I'm actually really proud of it.

I don't usually send asks but I wanted to say your art is one of the main things that got me into dbh and THE thing that got me into hankcon and I'm so glad you're still creating and posting about dbh in 2024! I just got into it this year and I feel like I missed the boat sometimes so it's reassuring that it's not just me. you're an amazing artist and I can't wait to see whatever it is you do next!

Thank you so much for sending this, it means more than you know 😭💕 I got into dbh late as well, and I get the feeling of having “missed the boat” in the sense that the fandom isn’t as big/active as it used to be; the flurry of activity must’ve been so exciting in the first couple years, but it makes me extra grateful and appreciative of the people who are still here and/or entering the fandom for the first time. I wouldn’t be here if there weren’t still people around being passionate about dbh and hankcon!!

RULES AND GUIDELINES

FOR ARTISTS

For the purposes of this event, we are assuming art includes digital art, traditional physical art (that can be photographed and shared), manipulations, or fanvids.

We are happy to consider other kinds of art -- ask the mods via discord or tumblr.

With each art, you will be able to share some thoughts on your idea, as well as things you are open to and things you aren’t open to.

Each artist is expected to complete one quality work per idea. We have shared advice on what this means and are willing to answer any questions you might have.

Keep art snippets and previews in the artists' section until matches go public.

Art should be a new enough concept that hasn’t been thoroughly discussed or partially shared elsewhere.

Art that is NSFW, or involves the AO3 Big Four or other heavy / hardcore topics is allowed, but do keep in mind that this is a community event; the more extreme your work, the harder it might be to find an enthusiastic writer.

We encourage artists to share a SFW art concept for claims, but will include a space in signups where you can tell writers if you plan to also draw NSFW content for your idea. However, this isn’t required; if your concept is entirely NSFW, that’s okay too.

Alternate Universe (AU) works are absolutely allowed.

Crossover works will be allowed if DBH is the main focus canon and DBH characters are the main focus — but do keep in mind there is no guarantee any writers will know, or be willing to handle, your secondary canon. Your mods personally recommend avoiding crossover fanart for this event.

We can only guarantee one piece of fiction per artwork. However, if the numbers work out, writers may be allowed to pick up additional work, like last year. Writers will not be required to work with each other, so you may receive different, unrelated fics for the same art. Isn’t life neat?

FOR WRITERS

Minimum wordcount for this event is 10K.

While you can go nuts with wordcount above 10K, we heartily encourage writers to finish their story within the event timeline.

If you decide to write for more than one piece of art, we strongly encourage you to attempt, for example, two 10K-15K pieces. Longer multichapter stories are still allowed, but based on the completion rate of last year’s bang, we are encouraging authors to limit their scope appropriately if picking up multiple works.

Work needs to be a new story that hasn't been thoroughly discussed or partially published elsewhere.

We expect your fanfic to work with the art you claim and, in general, with the preferences your artist has expressed.

We expect you to appropriately tag your work and any shared snippets.

Keep writing snippets in the writers' section until matches go public.

We encourage you to use a beta and will help you find one if necessary.

Alternate Universe (AU) works are absolutely allowed, if they work with the art you’ve claimed.

DBH Big Bang 2023

I took part in this years Big Bang event. It was a lot of fun and I couldn't wait to post it!

I plan to post 2 chapters each day, so watch this blog or subscribe to the fanfiction so you don't miss it.

I was matched with both @cptjh-arts and @yvy-900 for this event.

Working with them was fun and inspiring, it's incredible to see the story come to life in drawings and renders. I hope you enjoy reading my fic as well as their amazing creations!

Okay so this isn't at ALL fan art or DBH related, but, I made a packer! I got two yards of this fabric for only three dollars (heck) and hand sewed myself this lil guy. He looks a lot bigger in the picture because he's in my wee little baby gremlin hand; I swear it's in proportion to my body when worn.

This was my second attempt because the first was too big and the uh, ✨testicles✨, were made from a different fabric (fifty cent new years fabric that said ball drop on the tag- how could I not think that was hilarious?) and was uncomfortable.

This time around I made him smaller and all out of the same soft fabric, this time keeping the ball part filled with the scraps of fabric that got cut off so nothing was wasted. It's way more comfortable to be worn and this only cost me like, five bucks to make? Less than considering I have plenty of materials left to make more. This was way cheaper than ordering one. Hoooooo boy, I am so glad momma taught me to sew.

I know this is very off subject from the usual things on this lil blog of mine, but it was something I did that I was proud of, so I thought I'd share.

Clarification for future's sake

I realize looking at my fics I prolly need to clarify specific hc that will appear in writing/imagry in the future or from past writings about canon ocs (I'll reblog with more if i think of more as we go along)

Deacon - This one is gonna be a bit of a doozy for some to understand but i hattttte deacon's pathological liar arc basically ending in "oh he's honest to the sole bc he cares about them"

One of my parents was a pathological liar. I almost fell into the same trappings. It. is. ingrained. And honestly I find it more interesting to have a liar who literally cannot stop themselves trying to prove themselves a good person then "oh they care about you now so your in the good zone" The thing about these kinda liars is they do believe their lies to the point they can get emotional about it! I get it's a game but the dead wife trope was overused and i decided to add to this

Hense; Reagan. In my lil RPverse she was actually the wife Deacon tell the sole about, but he has to change his story to both make himself look good and to not get his ass beat when her name leaves his mouth.

Idc if you don't think he was intended to really be a pathological liar, most the time liar character like these are poorly written to kinda resemble pathological liars I'm just going with the truth: Pathological liars don't just tell you the truth because they love and care about you, and it's not even always intentional

Arthur Maxson - I actually feel a lot for Maxson while also hating him in game. This is a child soldier forced to take charge of an entire military and trying to rebuild it's glory. My take is the more outside influence he had the more accepting he could be to the outside world. the man is fucking 20 and has basically been running the brotherhood since a teen. The few aus where outside influences are more apart of his life when he's younger might change the outcome of how he treats others (and the outcasts are the worse for his strict viewpoints) I genuinely don't understand how more people hate a 20 year who has had the weight of the world thrown on him from a young age more then any other brotherhood who could eventually change their racist/cruel viewpoints. Genuinely think Maxson could have a redemption are if the circumstances were JUUUUUUUST right. This only happens in aus though. (Oh and he's like sexually attracted to synths bc i also have a sense of humor) No this is not to defend him. I still wanna throw him off the prydwen every time i see him. I see some of y'all call legion fucks your babygirl i get to have that maxson could have been better. 2 years ago i hated androids bc of dbh, now i love them bc synth babies and i'm older then him!

Paladin Danse - I'm sorry Danse only adjusts his tune towards synths after blind betrayal and even that was a struggle LMAOO he won't say as many slurs against ghouls but he still thinks their icky and he never will accept supermutants (which idt he could handle mentally bc of the very implication of his past actions if he did) And the sole giving him dirty look that threaten his very nonexistant soul keep me going

Again these are personal hcs but as their my interpretation of the characters any stories/art might depict them in these ways and as such if you don't like them i would like you to just opt out of my stuff! I'm not gonna change my mind bc of internet strangers and also these are just fun things for characters i otherwise would have zero interest in (I'm not a big fan of most of the brotherhood, hc like these is why i can do a brotherhood run through)
