Hi, DBH Fandom, and welcome to the 2025 Round of the Detroit: Become Human Big Bang!

Today we’re announcing the 2025 round, its exciting co-round Die Hard challenge, some new folks to drag, and a partially-new set of rules that we hope will help clarify, encourage, and enthuse participants for this round.

What’s Going On in 2025?

We aren’t just running another round of the Big Bang. We’re introducing an extreme option: A Mega Bang we’re calling RK50K, where writers can team up to write 50,000 words with artists who want to make three or more artworks for the same concept. We had a bunch of overachievers last round, and we’re excited to see what we get in 2025!

That being said, for those of us who are less prolific, limited by schedule, or not infected by cordyceps, the Standard Bang remains open with the same requirements as always: 10,000 words, and one quality art.

Participants this year can sign up for three teams total: two fic and one art, or one fic and two art. There are details about picking up extra projects in the rules!

We are introducing the Bang Rules Etc. early this year because of some changes we’re implementing regarding previous rounds of the Bang Event and ongoing, unfinished works. Sign-ups don’t hit until March, but you can absolutely start writing now.

We would like to welcome our team of Mediators and Advisors!

Mediators are a second moderation tier that will help guide the Discord, step in when things are getting tense if mods aren’t around, and - since we’ve managed to adopt some artists - help shape the Bang’s direction as we evolve. Girl That’s So Long

There actually isn’t a lot of new stuff! Most of the information here has been collated from the #bang-info channel in the Discord, and just put into one place where it’s searchable and more easily accessible by participants. And prettier!

The new parts - rules on check-ins, extensions, and drop-outs - were driven by the results of last year’s posting period, which (you might remember) was incredibly challenging, difficult, and time-consuming for the mods, as well as the exit poll. We did not want to need these rules, but based on last year, they’re necessary. They may evolve for future rounds, but that’s what we’re going with for now.

You don’t have to read it all now. You will be held to all rules upon sign-up, whether you’ve read them or not, but there are a lot of days until sign-ups.

The FAQ (last section in the doc) will continue to grow as we get questions.

finally, here's the first chapter of my entry for the Detroit: Become Human Reverse Big Bang 2024! I was paired with the wonderfully talented @insignova. you can find the incredible art for this fic on their account.

thank you to the @dbh-bb mod team for making this event possible and to my amazing partner for trusting me with such a great concept. I really hope I did it justice!

A year ago, an endless storm swallowed the world, trapping the people of Belle Isle on their small island indefinitely. Legends dating back centuries say that storms at sea are caused by the Great Dragon of the Sea, a god that dwells in the deep, and that the only way to stop them is to appease its anger. Hank’s not sure he believes all of the stories– not until the storms take his son. Desperate to get him back, Hank joins a team of adventurers on a quest to find the Dragon in the hope that it will have answers about Cole’s fate. 

Hank isn’t the only one looking for answers. Out at sea, the crew discover they have a stowaway on board, an amnesiac named Connor who’s forgotten everything about who he is and believes the sea has answers. Together, Hank and Connor embark on a journey to take back what they’ve lost and to find out who they really are.

So excited to be a part of this year’s DBHBB!

I got to work with some absolutely incredibly people during this project. The fic I had the pleasure of making a few pieces for is called All’s Fair in Love and War and I’m telling you I frOTH OVER IT!!!

@leelany-world wrote it and you all should definitely check them out if you haven’t already!

This piece is done based off of their 2nd chapter and I hope you all read the fic to the end because it is to die for!

This was my first ever big bang that I got to participate in and I’m so happy to say it was definitely a very memorable one!

Although this has been the toughest year for art, I’m really grateful for this event as it pushed me out of my comfort zone and back into the world of creating pieces for myself and for things I love. Thank you, everyone, for all the support, encouragement, and inspiration.

FIC RECS!!! Im so glad that you used the list and im more happy that you liked them!!! Admittedly im not in the tag as much as I was early on but I do still have a few recommendations!! All that it meant (and all that it did not) (by @yb-cringe) - On going Fantsy AU fic focusing on Fit and Ramon. only has one chapter so far but I like it a lot. Since it's only one chapter i don't want to spoil much, but the world building seems super interesting with Madagio and the border and everything. It's a prequel to a Fitpac fic that will get written later but I love fit and ramon fics so this is amazing. I'm really interested to see where it will go

I'm worried 'bout the future, aint fuckin' with the past (by @tastytoastz) - On going Time Travel AU where Tazercraft travels back in time 8 years to 2b2t. If you haven't seen me reblogging every chapter of this and freaking out, please take this as the sign to read it. It's a wonderful look at how 2b affected Fit especially while he was in the middle of it, and how it still affected him years later on Quesadilla island. It's such a good fic like everything Toast writes <333

Lightning and Thunder (by ..... Tastytoast (you can fight me if me recommending literally everything toast has ever written is a problem (/j /lh)) - One shot were Fit has trauma from lighting storms on 2b2t and Pac comforts him when one causes him to panic. Very sweet fic of protective fitmc. It's also an english translation of Blixtar och dunder (also by Toast).

Maybe you really are Alive (by @yourfauxentropy) - On going, Detroit Become Human AU , also only one chapter so far. Pac is Connor and Fit is Hank. I had a big dbh phase so im really looking forward to this one and seeing what they add

I think your roommate is hotter (by @fitpacs) - One-shot were Pac and Cellbit are friends with benefits but Pac meets Cellbit's new roommate Fit and it goes from there. It's really good and one of my favorites from Fitpacs. I read it a while ago honestly surprised it wasn't on my first list

hypotheticals (by @tinkatonic) - One-shot of Fit and Pac in different worlds, and in some of them they get to kiss. A bunch of mini peaks into different AU's like royalty, roommates, and a few others i don't want to spoil. But it's absolutely lovely and I love all of the au's so much.

Hideduo Stardew Valley AU (by @hepbaestus) - This is a series as opposed to a one shot or chapter-ed fic, but it's a Rose Family centric au series (including Rosa, Fitpacs fan child) They're all so cute, the last one made me cry. Im also happy that Richas is getting included in Rose Family stuff, i feel like he gets left out a lot.

to love is to be changed (by hepbaestus) - One-shot fic following the popular headcannon that the eggs adapted features of their parents, and this is when Ramon's eyes change to look like pacs. It's so sweet and wonderful. Hep my beloved.

Like a parody of Tantalus (by InconvenientImmortal; @shikai-the-storyteller here on tumblr) - Ongoing (?) Pac centric fic that hasn't been updated in a while, but it's still amazing. It focus on pac's relationship with food, love, and him growing up. This first chapter is so wonderful and his relationship with Isa is so sweet. There's only one chapter so far but if it ever updates i would love to keep reading it.

Teeth, Talons, and Hearts (by WyldChild) - On going modern au (i think?) where most of our cast were federation experiments but all broke out at some point and dedicate themselves to helping others who are lab experiments. They rescue 11 dragon hybrid kids and thats about where the fic is, but it follows Fit's pov and it's going to be FitPac eventually, and raising Ramon and Richas. It is a pretty dark au, the federation are EVIL, and the kids have been through hell, so pay attention to the tags and the warnings before reading. I can easily see how this isn't everyones cup of tea, but im liking it so far.

heaven found in a hellhole. (by kmsquill) - One shot purgatory fic where fit and pac get stuck in a hole hiding from Bolas and they spend that time talking and totally just being roommates. I think it's best described with two of the tags they have '#kissing #woah who put that kissing tag there' My favorite purgatory fic, honestly should have submitted it to the awards.

I said I had a few and i think this list is almost the same length as the last one. There's at least 4 more that I haven't read yet so i don't want to recommend them yet but once I do i'll probably make another post. Hope this has some stuff you would be interested in!!!

20) Part of canon you found tedious or boring

the beginning chapters of DBH past The Hostage arrre a bit tedious, mostly when youre replaying the game. I still love them lots and getting to see the characters and they're necessary for setting up the story but when replaying the game its just like ugghhhh lets get this over wiiiitthhhh. but DBH in general has alot of issues of like, having massive replayability value but not being at all friendly towards it with no ability to skip cutscenes and lackluster checkpoints among other things. whole other conversation. also gravity falls episode Roadside Attraction. also insert rant about FNAF and how the lore keeps changing here

germy ☝im no rpfer but i can see the vision i respect it. also rk1k (markus x connor). im not necessarily that big on it idk if i see them as romantic but they are a very interesting and funny pair to me i like seeing art of them interacting. also to some level hankcon, a few years ago i saw those 2 as purely familial but returning to the game now i can see and enjoy romantic readings of them. they make me so angry (positive)

I don't think that's silly! Bc honestly making sideblogs is so high stakes for me in the first place, and honestly it's a funny story, so I joined Tumblr in high school, I think I'd seen a bunch of Tumblr screenshots on Pinterest and like, Facebook, first so I wanted to get in on all the memes and shit. I was restroom-pizza for years, and I don't remember exactly where on the timeline I made dirty-droids but after I got into dbh, I made a group chat for Hankcon that was 18+ and started making friends. It was my first time really being social with fandom online, I'd only ever lurked before.

Then I started roleplaying and that inspired me to write fic and somewhere in there I made my dbh sideblog so I could make more friends and get more attention 😅 I wanted to be a big fandom name, idk if I ever got there. But I tried making art for a second there (it was a lot of tracing reference images) and I posted Connor ass of my own exactly once and got my whole account nuked. So when I remade my Tumblr, I made Dirty-droid my main and made my general fandom blog a side blog instead so I could fandom as hard as I could (mostly just so I could reply to posts without looking like a completely different person)

The second question is do I collect anything, and honestly? I don't know 😅 not purposely anymore, I used to get a lot of little figurine statues of like, cats and dogs and horses because my grandma knew I liked them, but I guess it's all more touch and go these days. Money is tight, but me and my fiance tried to start collecting rainbow high dolls, but only got like, four dolls 😅 we do get art things here and there to cover the walls and I like those, but other than that?? ... Debt? 🫣😬😅

I'll try and post some pictures of how we've decorated the house here soon, I'm actually really proud of it.

As this year comes to a close, I can't help but think of my art in the retrospective. I know I've only had this blog up for three (3) months now but I feel like I've already learned a lot about myself, my art, and my plans moving forward.

So in the spirit of the New Year, I figured I'd celebrate some silly little process drafts and highlight some minute details in some of the works I've made this year that I'm especially fond of...

The November 5th DBH piece of the main trio was probably the most ambitious project I've done in recent memory, and the thing keeping me sane, particularly when it came to drawing out all of those background androids in Cyberlife, was seeing the little ways they were all distinct from each other.

For whatever reason, I just really ended up loving this little guy in particular.

Now for some silly little process drafts I took screenshots of back when I was working on the second I Robot x DBH piece. I'm sure they're only funny to me personally, but eyebrowless Connor and squinting Hank just... happened while I was outlining, and they brought me joy along the way.

Back to the small details. This little dragon I drew for my first piece of Ninjago fanart here was such a subtle, simple thing, but ended up being one of the most fun details I've drawn in a while.

I used to be really harsh with myself about the art I made, to the point where I wasn't enjoying making anything anymore. I had to take a years-long hiatus from anything artwise, big and small, just to have the time I needed to reflect and put things into perspective.

This blog is partly a way to share my appreciation for the fandoms and old art projects I've loved, AND partly an exercise in rebuilding my own love for the art that I make and rediscovering the joy of learning and improving along the way.

As mentioned in my last update, I plan on getting back to a steadier art schedule in the New Year, and I've got a lot of art ideas piled up in my backlog waiting for me until then.

How long have you been writing fanfiction? I've technically been writing fanfics since I was 10?? But they were self inserts and they were really bad, I used to write x readers when I was 11-12 but I eventually stopped writing fanfics to write my own stories. I'm just now starting up again on AO3 after a 3 and a half year break!

Okay so this isn't at ALL fan art or DBH related, but, I made a packer! I got two yards of this fabric for only three dollars (heck) and hand sewed myself this lil guy. He looks a lot bigger in the picture because he's in my wee little baby gremlin hand; I swear it's in proportion to my body when worn.

This was my second attempt because the first was too big and the uh, ✨testicles✨, were made from a different fabric (fifty cent new years fabric that said ball drop on the tag- how could I not think that was hilarious?) and was uncomfortable.

This time around I made him smaller and all out of the same soft fabric, this time keeping the ball part filled with the scraps of fabric that got cut off so nothing was wasted. It's way more comfortable to be worn and this only cost me like, five bucks to make? Less than considering I have plenty of materials left to make more. This was way cheaper than ordering one. Hoooooo boy, I am so glad momma taught me to sew.

I know this is very off subject from the usual things on this lil blog of mine, but it was something I did that I was proud of, so I thought I'd share.
