In my Dazatsu fic Tangled Up in Moonlight I have Dazai, Chuuya and Atsushi as being the same age.

And I just realised that because of that it means that Dazai’s now the youngest.

Chuuya was born in April.

Atsushi in May.

And Dazai was born in June.

I dunno it just sounds so funny to me that now Atsushi’s older then Dazai and Chuuya will absolutely rub it in Dazai’s face that he’s older then him.

To which Dazai will probably huff and say that Chuuya would be because he’s got wrinkles and then quickly reassure that he doesn’t.

God they’re idiots I love em.

Summary: Set two months after the events of “The Disqualified”—Atsushi struggles to adapt to his new life without his special ability. Plagued with sudden feelings of emptiness and mourning, he seeks help from an unlikely source to piece his former self back together. In doing so, Atsushi must submit to the evil he originally fought to escape, putting his life and his love for Dazai on the line.

Listen guys I know we all like to think of our favorite queer pairings as married, but in Japan gay marriage is unfortunately illegal, now this isn’t some that has to effect your fanfics, but I would actually like if we as a community acknowledged it more. I just think it’s more impactful if the characters had to struggle with the biases of some of the people around them. It would make the characters situation more relatable, and it would also make for interesting plot for the fic, even if it is just a side thing. For some of the ships it might even make for interesting cultural shock, like with Ranpoe, since America does allow gay marriage in most states, while Japan doesn’t it would probably make for a funny interaction. My point is while homophobia and discrimination is unfortunate, it doesn’t mean we have to ignore it in stories, and pretend that it doesn’t exist at all. Idk man I just want some of my fics to be more interesting and this is one way to do it.

Edit: this is not for those who write stories mainly as escapism. If what you want in the story is to play around without the shit called homophobia, then you do you.

Edit: I wanted to say that, this could also very well be used for crack, considering canon BSD, and not an AU where they aren't all criminals. Just imagine, Dazai in a wedding dress, using a machine gun to take down the government officials who won't let him have his wedding with Chuuya (or whoever you ship him with). It also kinda depends on what year it is in Japan

He looks sad, instead. Sympathetic, even. Nothing like how Chuuya had once scowled and asked what it would take for him to being stop being such a suicidal maniac, knowing better than to show concern.

Dazai raises a brow. “This is nothing new,” and it’s flippant, teasing. Atsushi frowns, lips curving further downwards. In his head, Chuuya is calling him a mackerel and grumbling about being forced into this mission, but tugging Dazai along by the crook of his elbow towards a stand.

Tangled Up In Moonlight

Aka Dazatsu fic where Atsushi was taken in by the Old Port Mafia Boss until the man turned on him. And was later found by Dazai, locked under the Port Mafia building.

Just Dazai listening to Hirotsu talk about Atsushi and thinking “you’re the one who lost a son that night, weren’t you?”

Because maybe there was a time when the Old Boss loved his son. But that love turned into fear into anger.

He destroyed the only meaningful bond he had. And sentenced him to a slow and painful death. He lost whatever love he had for him. And yet here’s Hirotsu talking about Atsushi with nothing but fondness.

Even as his eyes are full of grief.

The Old Boss merely pretended to be torn up about it but Hirotsu was devastated.

dazatsu month d2: drunk confession

There’s a beer can, slightly crumpled right by his head. Atsushi leans over Dazai to grab it, but instinctively Dazai’s hands find Atsushi’s waist to stabilize him. His other hand snakes into Atushi’s outstretched reach.

“Trying to clean up after me, are you that much at home now?”

Atsushi’s face goes warm and he doesn’t understand why this teasing has its affect. Touch overwhelms him, and he equally wants to lean in or scurry away. The fear, wanting to run, makes Atsushi realize this closeness with Dazai is what he wants. In every stolen glance to his coworker, that’s been lying beneath. Flustered at the realization, an overcompensated move to lean away makes him slip out of the cushion and fall closer to Dazai, their noses nearly touching. The stabilizing hand on his hip traveled to his lower back and held tight as he accidentally pinned dazai’s hand next to the discarded beer can. 

“So forward.”

“I- uh…”

Dazai’s eyes trail down Atsushi’s face. He was hesitant to admit they traveled to his lips.

That’s when atsushi remembered Dazai was drunk, the disappointment silencing the rush of his newly identified crush. He brought himself upwards and recollected his thoughts. His mind raced with the new understanding he liked Dazai in that way, and now he'd have to do something about it.

Are there any Dazatsu fics that you can recommend reading? I've tried finding some but not all are really great so I thought a second persons advice might help.

Hi anon! Of course I can but I dont really read recent fics on ao3 so they are probably a bit old but! I'll put author recommendations instead who writes dazatsu and example of the fics I like from them so you can check them out yourself!

First is @looking-for-stray-dogs or planet_b612 on ao3. She is like, the goddess of dazatsu fanfics if you ask me because she captured their characters perfectly in my opinion. I think there's not any dazatsu shippers who dont know her but here is one of the fics I like from them. It has getting back together trope which is rare for dazatsu.

Second is @blchwaaaan with the same username on ao3. They are specialized in writing angst, but their fluff is top tier too. This is one of their dazatsu fluff I like, and this one is the angst one.

Next is @mamichigo though they are currently not actively writing for bsd anymore but it's worth checking them out. Here is one of the ones I like from them.

@ladytective is good too. They are samuela on ao3 and not really active now but still updating their ongoing series that I really look forward to. They write romance with humors but still will make you clench your heart with the fluff and light angst. This is one of my fav!

Their friend treetrunkdaddy also write good dazatsu but I forgot their tumblr (sorry!) but this one is example of their fics.

@datura-foxglove is not an active author anymore too but their dazatsu is worth checking! There are some on their blog but there are some on ao3 too. This one is one of the fics I like.

The rest I'll put my recs to the fic only because I dont know or not sure of their tumblr handle😅😔
