Biarkan Saja Terjadi

Pagi ini aku berangkat ke sekolah dengan terburu-buru. Aku takut bahwa akan terlambat. Biasanya gerbang taman kanak-kanak tempatku sekolah ditutup tepat pada pukul 07.15. Sebelum berangkat, mama berpesan padaku kalau nanti ada kakak pendamping baru yang akan mendampingiku belajar di sekolah. Masih jelas diingatanku bahwa dalam setahun ini, kakak yang mendampingiku sudah berganti sebanyak tiga kali. Kesemuanya adalah perempuan. Terakhir kalinya kakak pendampingku hanya menemaniku selama 2 minggu. Entah karena alasan apa kakak itu berhenti menemaniku, padahal aku sangat menyukainya. Dia berbeda dari kakak pendamping yang sebelum-sebelumnya. Setelah itu, aku tak memiliki pendamping seorang pun selama di sekolah, hingga hari ini kakak pendamping baru itu datang.

Pintu gerbang sekolah sudah ditutup, itu berarti aku benar-benar terlambat. Bapak ojek menurunkanku tepat di depan gerbang. Kemudian seorang perempuan muda perawakan tinggi, kulit sawo matang, berkaca mata datang menghampiriku.

“Rey ya?” tanya kakak perempuan itu. “Saya Selly, pendamping baru untuk Rey.”

“Oya, ini Rey mbak. Titip ya,” kata tukang ojek lalu meninggalkan Rey pada kakak perempuan itu.

Aku hanya memandangi kakak itu. Benar-benar orang yang baru kukenal. Rasanya semua terasa aneh bersama orang yang asing. Kakak itu meraih tanganku dan menjulurkan tangannya untuk bersalaman.

“Hai Rey, aku Selly,” dia memperkenalkan diri sambil tersenyum padaku. Sesaat aku hanyut dalam wajah manisnya itu. Sampai aku lupa bahwa aku datang terlambat. Saat tersadar, aku melepaskan tanganku dari kak Selly dan berlari menuju kelas. Kak Selly berlari kecil menyusulku. Sepertinya teman-teman sekelas sudah berkumpul di lapangan, sehingga kelas terlihat sangat sepi. Kuletakkan tas di dalam loker kemudian aku bergegas lari menuju lapangan dan meninggalkan kak Selly di belakang.

Hari pertama bersama kakak pendamping baru. Aku selalu tak bisa menerima kehadiran orang baru dengan begitu mudah. Aku membutuhkan waktu yang cukup panjang untuk beradaptasi dengannya.

Kuharap, di hari pertama ini, kak Selly memberiku permen atau menyanyikan lagu untukku. Namun semua itu tidak terjadi. Saat berbaris di lapangan, Kak Selly tiba-tiba berdiri di sampingku dan melarangku menghisap jari. Hal ini membuatku kesal, bagaimanapun menghisap jari adalah hal yang sangat kusukai. Tidak cukup sampai di situ, saat akan kembali ke kelas kak Selly menggandeng tanganku padahal aku ingin berlari mengejar Milo, teman sekelasku, yang terlebih dahulu masuk ke kelas. Aku hanya diam dan memasang wajah kesal saat itu. Seolah kak Selly tidak menghiraukannya dan terus menggandengku.

Saat pelajaran di kelas, kak Selly sama sekali tak beranjak dari bangku dan duduk di sampingku. Biasanya, kakak pendamping yang sebelumnya selalu mengambilkan crayon dan buku untukku, tapi kak Selly tidak melakukan dan justru memerintahku mengambilnya. Bu guru berada di pihak kak Selly. Aku tak dapat berbuat apa-apa selain menurutinya.

Bu guru memberiku tugas untuk mewarnai. Aku masih malas untuk mengerjakannya. Kulihat ke arah rak mainan. Ingin rasanya aku berlari ke sana dan bermain. Sekali lagi kak Selly membuatku kesal, dia memblok bangkuku dengan kakinya sehingga aku tidak bisa beranjak. Dia terus berkata ini dan itu, aku tak menghiraukannya.

Melihatku yang tak ingin memegang sebuah crayon, kak Selly menjadi geram dan meraih tanganku lalu menuntun tanganku memegang crayon dan mewarnai gambar yang ada di buku. Kuturuti saja apa maunya, tapi aku sama sekali tak memberikan tenaga untuk tanganku. Biarkan saja dia membujukku, kupalingkan wajahku walau dia terus melakukan apa yang dia mau.

Setelah tugas mewarnai, ada tugas menulis. Dia memintaku menulis dan mengambilkan sebuah pensil berwarna biru tua. Dengan berbagai cara dia merayuku. Tak sedikitpun aku menghiraukannya. Sekali lagi dia menuntun tanganku untuk menulis. Semakin lama, kakak ini begitu membuatku kesal. Aku tak ingin diperintah ini dan itu, dilarang ini dan itu. Seketika kulempar saja pensil itu ke lantai dan kudorong buku tulis hingga terjatuh. Kak Selly menjadi marah atas sikapku ini. Dia memintaku mengambil buku dan pensil yang jatuh itu. Tapi aku tak ingin menurutinya. Semakin aku melawannya, semakin dia kesal padaku.

Aku semakin kesal padanya dan satu pukulan keras dari tanganku melayang dengan keras tepat di wajahnya. Seketika perasaanku menjadi lega dan rasa kesal itu sedikit mereda. Kulihta wajah kak Selly memerah dan tak ada sepatah katapun keluar dari mulutnya. Kemudian dia mengambil buku dan pensil yang terjatuh tadi.

Aku hanya meliriknya saja. Dia tak berbicara apapun setelah kejadian itu. Tak lagi memintaku menulis atau mengerjakan appun. Keinginan bermain yang tadinya bergejolak dalam hatiku pun mereda. Aku tak ingin bermain lagi. Aku dan kak Selly sama-sama terdiam. Cukup lama dia bungkam, lalu kulihat wajahnya sekali lagi. Dia menunduk kemudian menatap ke arahku. Matanya berkaca-kaca. Dia meraih tanganku lembut dan berkata, “Rey, jangan marah-marah ya. Maaf kalau kakak membuatmu kesal.”

Seketika aku merasa tak enak padanya. Kutahu dia adalah kakak yang baik hati. Tapi aku juga tidak bisa mengelak bahwa aku kesal terhadapnya. Maka tiap kekesalanku keluar begitu saja dan tanpa sadar itu membuatnya bersedih.

Saat semua yang hal tak baik terjadi, maka smeua itu tak bisa dihindarkan. Tak seorang anak pun bisa menyembunyikan perasaannya, bahkan saat dia tak nyaman akan sesuatu. Terkadang orang dewasa menginginkan sesuatu yang terbaik untuk anak-anak dengan cara mereka, tetapi di saat yang sama anak-anak menerimanya berbeda. Baik itu anak normal atau tidak, semua sama memiliki perasaan yang tak pernah bisa dibohongi. Orang dewasa terkadang melupakan hal ini.

In The morning away, i took a trip to the Washington DC. I heard quite a bit about capital city, Washington D.C in USA. I know that it sits on the Potomac River and was named after George Washington. I know that it's the home to the U.S. government and that the White House was burned down during the War of 1812. But I knew very little about the *real* Washington DC, until I visited as a traveler. Because even though The District is home to a lot of government-y types and even more history, that's not ALL there is to it.

My tour began with the moll. Washington DC's National Mall is probably the most famous part of the city (well, maybe other than the White House). It's where you'll find all the famous monuments and museums, stretching from the Lincoln Memorial to the US Capitol building. (Well, actually the second half of the area, between the Washington Monument and Capitol building, is the “official” National Mall, but most people consider it to include everything up to the Lincoln Memorial, too.) Alongside the museums, Washington’s monuments bear tribute to both the beauty and the horror of years past. They’re potent symbols of the American narrative, from the awe-inspiring Lincoln Memorial to the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial to the stirring Martin Luther King Jr Memorial.
