Last night looking through the art book and then immediately going to sleep after got me fucked up Dreamed about a Gurren Lagann where the world was now lush and full of grass. The old villages were closer to being bunkers. So like they were still once underground, but the ceilings of most of them were much closer to the surface than not. So the world was littered with the ruins of bunkers being overgrown. The capital wasnt so modern city like, but it Was surrounded by a wall with guards

Exploring outside was still new and considered dangerous, but it Was something people were doing more and more of after the fall of the beastmen and the villages

Visually it was very pretty. It had those BOTW vibes in that the world was full of green nature, but still had a post-apocalypse recovery feel to it with all the ruins and stuff around, and the air of there still being danger despite the beauty.

Kamina, Simon, and Nia had been off exploring and were now on their way back home/to the capital. Nia had short hair, and Simon looked like he did between being a kid and going to space in the show. So it was like a oh Kamina hasnt died here

They passed by this ruined bunker that had just walls and no ceiling, and some left over like containers in it. And Simon noticed something and walked 'in' and the other 2 followed. He stopped in the middle of it and Simon had noticed some like pattern on the ground. Nia had no idea what it was but Kamina went 'wait... This is...' and Simon ended his sentence for him by going 'our old village'. And neither of them had known it was so close by to the capital until now And they went looking around and reminiscing about how long theyd spent trying to bust through the ceiling and get out, only for it to have no ceiling at all anymore now.

And on their way out Kamina stopped in this one area that was now full of growing grass, and was being hit by the sun just right. And he called Simon and Nia over. And Simon realized its the last place they stood in before getting out to the surface. Then Kamina hugged him and Nia with one arm each and grinned and was like "Now we're all standing here together and we get to go wherever we want!" And then once he let go Simon was kinda like "Yeah..." and kissed Nia and then took her hand and ran out all "cmon!" bc the capital is so close. Kamina stood in the sun on that spot a bit more like "Hey, Simon, wait!" bc hed been thinking about getting a picture together in that spot. But then he just shrugged it off, looked back at the spot one last time, smiled, and hurried off after them

And then they got close to the capital walls and Dayakka was one of the main guards there and he was like "There you are! You shouldve ran out of supplies days ago, howd you survive out there with no food?" And Kamina ran past and was like "Of course we survived! We're the mighty Kamina, Simon and Nia!" And then as they walked towards the entrance my brain went "Oh no what if its all wishful thinking of what couldve been and then the moment Simon walks in, hes alone" and i woke up

Anyway don't look thru art books before bed going 'Im so happy theres so many pics of these characters hanging out together with everyone, even tho they never met each other in canon and by the end both of them are gone' it'll do things to your dreaming brain

Kittan moving onto the island post the anti spiral fight and Yoko encouraging him to offer a class at her school to teach the kids Bachika . Seeing as he's one of four survivors of Bachika she can't stand the idea of his village being permanently lost to time.

Eventually it grows into a class about lost /dying cultures and he accidentally finds himself as a historian preserving old language and cultures. Becomes a well known author through out the surface.

The two of them having arguments or heated discussions where they both just lapse into littner and Bachika. Going back and forth for insane amounts of time before they realize they don't really understand what the other is saying bc they haven't been speaking a shared language.

They teach each other their languages of course but then they both end up w the most wild accents in the language since they are only learning from each other.

Yoko finally visits dayakka and kiyoh, hoping to surprise them with her new found Bachika skills but kiyoh and kiyal can't stop giggling over how she has the most aggressive masculine accent. Kittan begging them to not say anything bc he can't help it and she sounds so cute with his accent.

Kittan strolling up to Leeron giddy to talk to him in perfect Littner and Leeron just laughs directly in his face for how delicate he sounds but also doesn't correct him because he finds it just absolutely adorable.

The purest expression of love I know is Dayakka from Gurren Lagann.  Faced with the power that has essentially conquered the universe, and knowing that the power behidn an attack is based on your fighting spirit, he calls his attack, “I’ve got the best wife in the universe swing“

I mean, if you’re not willing to declare your love to the universe at large, and actually weaponize it against the forces of evil, what are you even doing with your life?

So this little number has been sitting on my desktop since April 2017 to celebrate the 10th Birthday to my favorite anime of all time. I’m sure a lot of you are wondering why I’ve chosen such a strange array of characters for this piece... the reason is mainly because since it’s release, Gurren Lagann has been the thing that brought me and my best friends closer together. Each character in this show meant something special to me in some different way because I related them to my friends. So this is an homage to both the show, and my dear friends. Happy (Much Belated) Birthday, Gurren Lagann!! Keep piercing the heavens!!!
