It’s Day 108 of the Windy Wessagusset Wimple of 2024. The wind was out of the north at 6mph with gusts at 9mph at 9am. The temperature was 47° and it felt like 40°. I used the Cherry Red color of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to show the wind was out of the north. I worked my stitches in garter stitch since the wind was blowing at 6mph. Today began mostly cloudy, but ended up cloudy. It was a chilly day, and I hurried off the upstairs porch to get back inside to some warmth. It is supposed to rain tonight, but with scattered showers tomorrow it may still be damp. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Be safe out there.

This morning we were called into do some work and we were working by ourselves. We don't typically work sundays.

We think one of the boys living at the house we were painting had convinced the wife and child to take a walk.

It was not long after we were invited in to warm up for food and water. This was no big deal and we thanked them for such hospitality profusely.

I don't know if it's just us being paranoid but lately it sounds like people have been walking and crunching through the leaves in our lawn lately and we're feeling targeted. We haven't seen anything on our vehicle to indicate possible trafficking but we're still uncertain.

I wish to be clear in saying there's no window on or by our door, so if there is a predator, opening the door is a huge risk and we're safer inside next to anything we can use to defend ourselves with.

Soon we went right back to work and kept working. There were two men still around in this house and we sensed no danger at first.

It's not even noon and we had to leave work early (we called about it and got the okay) because it wasn't long before they kept trying to coax us inside and offer us mystery drinks. Then one of them touched our monster energy and brought it over. They hovered around us expectantly.

We knew our drink was no longer safe. And even if we're somehow wrong and it was, we definitely can't risk it so we dumped it out after we left and said beforehand that we'd be back in an hour. (Not true)

The way they hovered around us, the way they seemed to almost corner us. It didn't feel right. We just got back home and we have to get it off our chest. We're shaking so badly. And not from the cold.

This is probably the very first time in this body we've ever had such an experience. We were just trying to do our job.

We're terrified of going back now as well. And when we got home we cried and quickly blocked their phone number.

I suppose they thought since we ate the food and drank a new bottle of water so eagerly and easily, they probably assumed we were easy prey. Even if they were actually being kind and generous we'd rather be safe than sorry. The water was still sealed so it was at least safe.

We're going to try to enjoy the rest of our day and sleep with our tazer close in hand for safety. We're no longer safe and we know it.
