Late Night Missing You
synopsis ★ whilst arthur is off on a trip you start feeling lonely and resort to some unconventional methods of entertainment
pairing ★ fem!reader x arthur fredrick (arthurtv) author's notes ★ this is my first time writing an actual fic so it might be kinda shitty! feedback and tips are appreciated!! and i hope you enjoy!! <33 (NOT PROOFREAD)
arthur had been in sri lanka with chip and the boys for almost a week. although to you it felt way longer than that. sure, the facetimes, texts and voice notes were great but you couldn't help it as the loneliness had started creeping in by day 3. your usual daily routine had shifted slightly but your mind couldn't keep up, cooking enough for two or sitting on the couch waiting for arthur to walk through the door. your mood had been in the trenches and sitting alone in your apartment wasn't helping. you didn't want to bother your other friends this late at night. so you decided to have an impromptu stream, talking with the random people on your computer and drinking was sure to cheer you up.
you sat in front of your computer, a random video playing on your screen. you dared your chat that they coudn't send in a video to make you laugh, but if you did laugh that you'd take a shot. it had been about an hour of watching the most unhinged and random tiktoks and you were loosing horribly. a video of a young girl running into a wall flashed across the screen, sending you spiralling into a fit of laughter once again. maybe you felt bad about laughing but your sense of humour was wrecked at this point and coupled with the alcohol any odd video had you wheezing and reaching for the bottle of Bailey's infront of you.
"chat I swear I didn't mean too that doesn't count. i'm not taking a shot! at this rate i'll die of alcohol poisoning before midnight."
the comments started flowing in a majority of them about your new found adventurism, the other half was wondering where arthur was that he isn't supervising you. it was strange that he wasn't hovering in the background making sure you stayed hydrated or preparing your shots when he knew you for a fact that you were gonna laugh. your eyes glossed over the arthur comments trying not to let your mood shift too much, choosing to focus on the funnier comments.
"lilia284 thank you for the sub! and guys arthur is out of the country so..." you trailed off as the comments started on another tangent about where arthur was exactly.
"I can't tell you guys that but when it's released I'm sure you'll all be grateful for the lack of spoilers. now back to the videos and please no more children getting hurt I don't need to be clipped half drunk laughing at children. that's not good for my public image." then the topic switched to your most outrageous moments and you felt that you had successfully evaded the arthur topic and got your emotions in check.
restarting the video, it started with a man running and slipping down the stairs. your headphones playing at almost full volume you failed to hear the sound of the front door clicking open. filming had finished early and arthur wanted nothing more than to go home and lay in bed with you. walking into your shared apartment he looked around, searching for any sign of you before putting his suitcase down next to the door.
"y/n?" he called softly walking down the hall, poking his head into your dark bedroom before turning finding the light coming from your office door. he looked at the door and raised his eyebrows, you usually didn't stream this late perhaps you were doing some work.
then your voice came through, "this isn't fair that was a giggle, I don't deserve to drink for that you people just hate me!"
he stood outside the door confusion evident on his face, he took his phone from his pocket opening twitch. low and behold there you were front and center of his following page. he clicked the icon, just in time to see you poor a shot of Bailey's and down it.
another giggle escaped you lips as you placed the glass down on your desk, a smile making it's way to your lips. at this point you were more than buzzed and you could admit that comfortably. you turned to read off your donations and arthur saw his chance. he opened the chat and sent a 5 dollar donation to be read aloud.
'arthurtv $5 so this is what you do when I leave? I thought we got drunk together?'
your back stiffened slightly as you heard his name, you cleared you thought and smiled at the camera. "hi sweetheart!!" you waved at the camera and from outside arthur stood there smiling for a moment.
"I hope you're having fun and I miss you!" you mumbled, a pout making it's way to your face. then another donation came through.
'arthurtv $5 well if you really missed me you'd come outside!'
your eyebrows knit together as you look between the door and her stream then back to the door. your chat started flooding with messages about going to get your man and a lot of comments along those lines. you said a quick goodbye to your stream before shutting down your PC and turning to the door. arthur stood outside waiting for you to open it, a few moments passed before the door was flung open. you stood Infront of him a stupid smile on your face as you flung yourself into his arms.
"arthur I freaking missed you so much!" he laughed softly, running a hand along your back.
"so you chose to get drunk online?" he questioned raising an eyebrow.
"it was a better idea than laying on the floor and crying."

plz could you write something where you have an awful day and arthurtv cuddles you and looks after you
(I’ve had a horrific day lol)
it had been one of those days.
in fact, no...
it had been one of those weeks for yn, where everything seemed to go against her and seemed to go wrong and against her favour, and she felt she was ready to burst with every emotion that was coursing through her body. she felt anger at how nothing was going right, she felt sadness at how things out of her control seemed to be her own fault, she felt under pressure at how she wanted to please her co-workers as well as the customers she served, she felt alone in each situation... and she missed arthur.
he'd been away for just over a couple of weeks with arthur hill and george and chip, in sri lanka filming video for chip's channel, and she had really felt gap in her life that would usually be filled with arthur and his presence.
and with a week like she'd had, where she'd been shouted at by her customers and dealt with the stresses of working in hospitality, all she wanted to do was curl up in bed with arthur and a cup of tea and a blanket and sleep off the problems and to wake up on a brand new day that she hoped would go better.
when she walked through the doors to the building of her flat, she felt a weight lifting off of her shoulders knowing that she was done for the day, didn't need to work the evening dinner shift, and that she was due a couple of days off. her feet ached, her back hurt and she could feel the lump in her throat that was burning and aching due to the built-up tears that were screaming to be let free. her bag brushes against her upper thigh and her hand dug around for her house keys, eagerness in every step she stepped closer to her door and as she dug deep for the bunch of keys.
a pair of trainers caught her eye once she closed her front door.
"arthur?"
"what gave me away?"
he sounded genuinely stunned and confused, peeking his head from around the kitchen door and grinning widely in her direction... yet the smile soon disappeared when he saw the look on her face and the tense and hunched-over posture she was sporting. her bag drops to the floor and her shoes go long forgotten in the hallway, kicked off and she made a mental note to move them later that evening, craving nothing more than to feel his arms wrapped around her.
and as soon as she wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her cheek against his chest and inhaling his scent. a strong mix of his cologne and his deodorant and a tiny hint of his shower gel and his shampoo, which gave her clarity that he'd gone home to freshen up before he surprised her after his trip away. his arms tighten around her, feeling her melt under his touch and all her aches and pains had seemingly fizzled away in that brief moment, and he knew she'd been after some intimacy for a while.
"lovie, what's the matter? what's happening?"
"i'm just glad you're home."
he hums, pressing a kiss to her hairline, but it sounds uncertain and he wanted to dig further and find out what the truth was... except he didn't want to push her into telling him something she just didn't feel like talk about in that moment.
"you've always been a terrible liar, yn," he laughs softly to lighten the mood and he can feel her frown into his chest, "but i'm not going to force you to talk to me about whatever is bothering you. but i'm here if you need to get things off your chest. you know that."
"i know. i just," she sighs and looks up at him, arms still tight around him like he'd walk away if she let go, "i've had a terrible week at work and everything's been going wrong and i don't know why or what the hell is happening to the universe but it seemed to be that week where the karen's and the moaners and the entitled arseholes come out."
"oh," he looks down at her and she smiles with a tight-lipped smile, "i'm sorry, lovie. a difficult week?"
she nods and he loosens his grip on her and cups her face with the palms of his hands, thumbs rubbing against her cheeks and she tilts her head into his touch. something she'd been longing for for a long few days.
"it didn't help that you weren't here, either," she says and his chest tightens a bit with guilt - through their facetime calls and their texts, she didn't make it clear she was struggling and having a tough time at home so it broke him, a little inside, to know she did it by herself and with no outlet. "but enough about me, tell me about sri lanka."
"that can wait," he says softly, dropping his hands from her face and enticing her to follow him into the kitchen, "talk to me. tell me the problem. get it off your chest and stop worrying about it by yourself."
she pouts at the loss of contact and follows him into her kitchen, seeing a bag full of her favourite takeaway food, a smile forming and the rumble in her tummy made her realise that she'd not eaten much for the entire day. he voluntarily gets plates out of her cupboards, followed by cutlery, before he starts to dish it out on their plates. her mouth watering at the aromas being given off.
"it's just been a stressful week," she stands beside him and watches as he shares out the food in the containers, "i really don't want to talk about it right now, okay? please, arthur."
"alright," he nods understandingly and she offers her help in dishing up their takeaway, taking the cutlery and a couple of glasses through to where her dining area was in her flat, with him hot in her heels and their dinner in his hands, "so, sri lanka, yeah?" x

Adventuresses We Love – Annie Londonderry In 1894, two Boston businessmen reportedly made a $10,000 bet that no woman could bicycle around the world in 15 months or less. Annie Cohen Kochopsky took them up on that bet. To help finance the trip, Kochopsky sought out sponsors and sold ad space on her bike. Her first sponsor was Londonderry Lithia Spring Water Company. They agreed to pay $100 in exchange for her carrying an advertising placard for them, and if she would agree to go by the name Annie Londonderry for the duration of the adventure. Annie readily agreed. On June 27, 1894, despite having only learned how to ride a bike a couple of days earlier, Londonderry set out from her home in Boston’s Beacon Hill and headed west. She carried with her a change of clothes and her pearl handled revolver. She arrived in Chicago that September, and realized she had a problem. Winter was coming fast, and there was no way she’d be able to cross the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains when the snows came. So, she reversed course and rode back to Boston. Where she started over, this time heading east. She rode to New York, jumped a steamer to France, then biked to Marseilles. From there her travels took her through the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Russia, North Korea, China, and Japan. She left Yokohama and sailed to San Francisco, then spent the next six months bicycling across the Southwest and Midwest. Londonderry reported that she was held captive while biking across China at the height of the Sino-Japanese War. Still, it seems the greatest dangers she faced were from animals - she and another cyclist were nearly killed by a runaway horse and rider in California; while a collision with a herd of pigs in Iowa left her with a broken wrist. Londonderry arrived back in Chicago on September 12, 1895, and claimed her prize. She’d made the trip with 2 weeks to spare, becoming in the process the first woman to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle. Anne Cohen Kochopsky, aka Annie Londonderry died from a stroke on November 11, 1947. She was 77 years old.

Would you mind sharing your views on backpacking? 👀
Take all of this with a grain of salt because I'm mostly just bothered by backpacking content on Instagram.
I think the concept is fine. I'd actually like to do some backpacking some time.
But backpacking content, as well as most overland* content, always has a really weird vibe. It almost feels like cosplaying poverty if you know what I mean??
It's almost always young people from the so called "West" and almost always they're somewhere in South or Southeast Asia. The most popular backpacking destinations I'm seeing at the moment are Bali (exclusively that part of Indonesia for some reason), Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. The algorithm has recently also started showing me content from Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.
Since flights to these destinations are usually quite expensive, and many of these people stay abroad long enough that they might need a visa and that accommodation and food would also add up, it can be safely assumed these people have a certain amount of financial stability. Some of them are full time influencers too.
And while travelling with a backpack instead of a suitcase makes sense, and while you want to have an "authentic" experience, the vibe on those videos is often sooooo weird.
They're always like "I just spent 45h standing in a cramped bus without AC because it was only $1. I'm sleeping on the floor of this abandoned building that costs me $4 a night. I only carry 2 t-shirts with me, can't find a laundromat and I'm travelling for 3 months. Yesterday I got scammed and got food poisoning."
And I'm like why are you doing this? Is it really more "authentic" just because it's a foreign country? You can find the same uncomfortable situations and people who live like that all the time in your home country, but when you're abroad it's cool and authentic and #humbling #eatpraylove. Meanwhile there's also people in that same country you're backpacking through who, like, have a comparable standard of living you're used to. Your holiday doesn't have to be luxury resorts but it also doesn't have to be absolutely god awful.
And of course there's also the factor of adrenaline and stepping out of your comfort zone but with these videos it seems like they're almost glamorising having an awful time in an "exotic" country because that's what it's supposed to be like? I guess?
Idk I feel like I should get the opinion of someone living in one of those backpacking hotspots to make sure I'm not just getting annoyed at nothing but I think the vibe is off.
*overland content as in "travelling from XY to YZ without flying - Day 420" type videos. They're often interesting and I follow some of those people and I actually have some ideas for cool overland or long distance train trips but some of the accounts also have a weird vibe. Most of the ones I saw were men and they're like hitchhiking through some desert somewhere and I'm like oh this would feel so unsafe to me as someone perceived female. And obviously they also make lots of content where you know they have lots money because they've been travelling for several months but it has that same fake low budget backpacker vibe.
I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure it does.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is fond of responding to his detractors with a bit of advice: “Let your haters be your waiters when you sit down at the table of success.”
The Department of Justice now seems to have a few things to say about Adams’ success. In a 57-page, five-count indictment unsealed Thursday, federal prosecutors accused him of taking bribes from foreign nationals and doling out favors over a span of nearly a decade.
Others in his orbit have also been investigated by federal authorities, leading to several high-profile resignations this month — among them police commissioner Edward Caban and mayoral legal adviser Lisa Zornberg.
Adams said the charges were “entirely false” and “based on lies,” adding that he looks forward to defending himself.
“I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit,” he said.
Adams, a former captain with the New York Police Department, was elected mayor of the country’s largest city in 2021 on a pro-NYPD platform, and is seeking reelection in 2025.
The indictment paints a picture of a man who is comfortable accepting luxuries either for free or little cost, allegedly using fake paper trails and cash to conceal them, and performing various favors in return. It also accuses him of using a donation-matching program aimed at giving New Yorkers a stronger voice in local elections to steal some $10 million in public funds.
Here’s what we learned about the accusations:
Adams allegedly took a lot of money from Turkish nationals who believed he could be president someday.
Prosecutors say foreign nationals seeking favors from Adams funneled cash to his campaign through American citizens in a “straw man” setup.
A text exchange between a Turkish businessman and an aide to Adams provided insight into the deals:
“Fund Raising in Turkey is not legal, but I think I can raise money for your campaign off the record,” the businessman wrote. Asked how Adams would formally declare the funds as a campaign donation to comply with the law, the businessman responded: “He won’t declare it ... Or ... We’ll make the donation through an American citizen in the U.S .... A Turk ... I’ll give cash to him in Turkey ... Or I’ll send it to an American ... He will make a donation to you.”
The aide said Adams “wouldn’t get involved in such games” because it “might cause a big stink later on,” but promised to talk to Adams about it.
Adams’ texted his feelings about a different but similar proposal from another Turkish national.
“I don’t want his willing to help be waisted [sic],” Adams allegedly wrote.
At least one of the Turkish nationals believed Adams might be president of the United States one day, according to the indictment.
He was a frequent flier on a Turkish airline.
Adams either flew for free or for a heavily discounted rate on a Turkish airline owned in large part by the Turkish government, according to the indictment, which noted destinations included “France, China, Sri Lanka, India, Hungary and Turkey itself.” He allegedly did so even when it was less convenient than other options, like transferring through Istanbul to get to France.
Prosecutors say the business class flights to India, taken with his partner in 2016, would have cost $15,000, but the couple paid less than $3,000 and accepted free upgrades. Another trip taken in 2017 with several companions would have cost $35,000 regularly.
An Adams staffer arranging flights for him in June 2021 told an employee of the airline to charge a price that was “somewhat real” because “we don’t want [the media] to say he is flying for free.”
Turkish nationals “further arranged for Adams and his companions to receive, among other things, free rooms at opulent hotels, free meals at high-end restaurants, and free luxurious entertainment while in Turkey,” the indictment stated.
Adams tried hiding his antics, but incriminating texts remained.
One exchange between Adams and a staffer stood out in the indictment. The pair were texting about another possible trip to Turkey in 2019.
“To be o[n the] safe side Please Delete all messages you send me,” the staffer texted Adams.
He texted back, “Always do.”
A staffer deleted texts during her FBI interview.
In November 2023, an Adams staffer submitted to a voluntary interview with the FBI. At one point, the indictment said, she “excused herself to a bathroom and, while there, deleted the encrypted messaging applications she had used to communicate” with Adams and his Turkish contacts.
Adams helped open a costly new skyscraper despite flaws.
Adams allegedly ensured that a 36-floor building that would serve as the new home of the Turkish consulate could open quickly, in time for a visit by the Turkish president in September 2021.
The New York Fire Department was concerned about dozens of defects with the building. But a top NYFD official wrote a “conditional letter of no objection” to the building, which he had never done before, and it opened in time.
He allegedly made other construction problems go away.
One of the straw donors, who was not a member of the city’s Turkish community, later texted Adams about a problem with the city’s Department of Buildings.
Tumblr media
He is famous in Turkey, apparently.
One of the straw donors was a Turkish entrepreneur referred to in the indictment as “the Promoter,” who arranges events for wealthy and powerful people to meet one another. The indictment states that he was “hoping to leverage Adams’ considerable fame in Turkey to benefit the Promoter’s clients.”
Right after Adams won the 2021 mayoral election, the man suggested in a text message to another Turkish national that he intended “to go and talk to our elders in Ankara about how we can turn this into an advantage for our country’s lobby.”
According to prosecutors, Adams was living it up on his visits to the country. One trip included a stay at the Four Seasons, a yacht tour, a stay at a luxury beach resort, and a car and driver. He paid $720.
He ignored the Armenian genocide on its remembrance day.
As mayor, Adams did not make a statement on the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in 2022, allegedly on request from his Turkish contacts. Turkish nationalists continue to deny the systematic massacre that began in 1915.
A secretive 2025 Adams campaign event was allegedly filled with foreign nationals.
Prosecutors say Adams welcomed wealthy foreigners to a fundraising event in a Manhattan hotel which was billed as a climate-related event. A PowerPoint presentation was allegedly created to help hide the true purpose of the event, saying it was hosted by “International Sustainability Leaders” and had a ticket price of $5,000.
He told the FBI he forgot his phone password.
When the FBI executed a search warrant for Adams’ devices in November, they found his mobile phone to be locked. Adams claimed he’d recently changed the password from a four-digit number to a six-digit number — and forgotten it.

Every time I think white and Western leftists can't disappoint me more, they prove me wrong.
Y'all memefied the threat of war with Iran following the assassination of Soleimani, the Australian wildfires that razed Aboriginal communities to the ground, Black Lives Matter, the fall of Afghanistan, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Putin, and the mass protests in Sri Lanka. The No Fly List has been leaked for the first time since 2014, showing that the majority of it are in there for the crime of having Muslim and Russian names, taking part in anti-war protests and being a child while Muslim. And now y'all have started merchandising the memes?
Every single time we point out that the suffering of diasporas and the Global South is not yours to joke about, we are inundated with screeching about how y'all need them to '''''cope'''' with having woken up to the fact that other people have been living in a fascist dystopia, that memes spread "awareness", that it's unfair to take the jokes to mean you don't care, and "we can be concerned about two things at once". Meanwhile, the jokes and memes and white coping drown out the voices of BIPoC and Eastern Europeans almost entirely. Then you forget all about us and eventually say that nothing we did made any difference, fighting the state is hopeless, and meme some more.
At this point I can only imagine that you wander into random people's funerals, crack jokes about the dead guy to his family and sell funeral t-shirts in exchange for telling everyone else that they're dead. "Well why can't we celebrate and uplift queer people?" – you mean white and Western queer people, because it's sure as hell not our queer people who're getting profiled and bombed and starved.
"That's not my experience of what we did" – we do not care. Your experience of your own actions, of how events unfolded for you and of our hurt and our suffering is utterly irrelevant. You do not get a say on whether you're hurting us. You don't get to police our tone and wording and anger. You don't get to weigh in with your white guilt and white defensiveness and Western and white privilege and pathological need to be the Main Character in every situation. "Why is this so guilt-tripping" that's your white guilt, Karen. The fact that you only just woke up to all the ways you've been asleep is your white privilege. Your inability to boost our voices and center us without any commentary and not speak for us is white supremacy. Your consistent focus on valorizing activists and advocates and centering white saviours is white supremacy. Your making money and fame off "raising awareness" and "educating" other people about our suffering is capitalist exploitation and white supremacy. You are not living through a "major historical event", we are. Every damn day.
Those of you who don't behave like this will never chime in and tell your racist fellows "hey stop that, that's fucked up! That's racist! Shut up!" You dont look for resources yourself, dont accept that maybe we can't provide solutions every time we raise concerns, that maybe your allyship should be about self-reflection and learning how to handle your own emotions without taking up all the air in a room.
This shit is fucking constant. Every single time. We are suffocating. Even with all of that, do you have any idea of the amount of patience and understanding and forebearance we have tried to give you?
Edit: btw the trans femme of colour who uses it/its pronouns that said "please stop memeing about our very serious issue, go read these sources, pay attention to this bill, if you care then act like it"? Y'all sent it so much racist hate that it had to deactivate. But yeah, y'all care about queer people. Lmao.

Doug’s fresh from a trip across Southeast Asia, and in today’s episode, we dive into the contrasts between East and West. From the comparative pristine streets of Thailand to the hotel standards in Malaysia, Doug lays out why he believes that part of the world is the place to be – and what that means for those of us still dealing with the decay of Western cities.
We also get into some historical events of the day, from Encyclopedia Britannica’s pages to an old encounter with Sean Connery. And for anyone keeping an eye on the bond markets and the dollar, we’ve got a few cautionary tales. From Yellen’s bizarre “omen” during a press conference to bank losses that dwarf those of 2008, the signs for the dollar aren’t good.

Saint Seiya Lance's Role - Chapter 85 is out!
This chapter has been betaread by @zebulonwallace Links: Fanfiction.net Archive of our Own Summary:
It is the start of Atlae's 3rd year in Shamballa's Rozan Martial Arts Turtle School and the Winter festival to celebrate Lord Genbu has begun. Ambitious and optimistic about his dream to become the world's best at "beating people up" as the day he first arrived on Tibet, Atlae proves all of Master Yuzuriha's faith in him correct this day and earns his final belt from the school. Little does he realise, however, that the shockwaves of his achievement echo beyond merely realising Master Yuzuriha's dream of one-upping Shion and Dohko as the superior Master among the three. Afterwards, with the patronage of his adoptive guardian Arthur Solo, Atlae makes his way out of the Himalayas, down India and Sri Lanka, to the Chrysaor, a mariner boat docked in Trincomalee. The sailing school vessel is about to make it's yearly circumnavigation trip and Atlae wishes to participate, not only to learn how to sail, but also to reacquaint himself with the culture of the Mariners who raised him. Upon arriving, he discovers that the Chrysaor's crew has a member very familiar to him.

Unpopular K-pop opinion [IU's version]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As an OG Uaena, I feel like we don't talk enough about IU's older/early music videos or her live clips throughout her career - that made her the Queen of K-pop she is right now. Here are some of IU's music video/live clips that are underrated and worth checking out.
Lost Child (Mia) First off, her debut song. To release a ballad song as a debut song definitely says a lot about her talent. Not to mention she was only 15 years old back then. We all know how hard it is to make it as a soloist, especially to this day. Not unless you're from the Big 3 entertainment.
(A Story) Only I Didn't Know 나만 몰랐던 이야기... is a classic IU ballad song. I don't know why but my 11-year-old self can relate to this. The way IU can effortlessly make you feel the pain through her singing is way beyond. And also to have Park Bo Young in the mv??? Ugh. Truly a chef's kiss to have them in one project.
Boo Cuteness overload. If you ever wondered when IU started having many personas such as Lee Jidong and Lee Jigeum? Yeah. This is where it all began. Kidding aside, Boo shows IU's cutie and bubbly side here in contrast to the above-mentioned music videos.
Hey [Rock Version] Live From the same album (as Boo) Growing Up... this live performance of the Hey Rock version showcases IU's star power even during her Rookie days. Giving you no doubt she can sing LIVE.
Last Fantasy This may not be everyone's favorite, but this song will always have a special place in my heart. Some of you might not know but the way she released this song - unannounced as a gift, will show how IU is very grateful and loving toward Uaenas.
Every End of the Day/Peach Okay, I know this one's a bit lengthy. But, hear me out. There's a lot to unpack here. I don't know about y'all, but I really loved this mv because of how they approach shooting it. It's just like a documentary, you know like her IUtvs. They also included how IU came up with her writing process for Peach. And cannot stress enough how IU is so gf coded in the mv of EEOTD. Also, watch IU's live performance of Peach on Remocon. I just love the fact that her songs are even better when accompanied by a band.
Beautiful Dancer I swear, there's something about IU singing in Japanese. And she spoke in Japanese in her intro as if she was coming straight out of some sort of anime. After all these years, even if I don't listen to this song that often. Every time I hear it, I know every lyric. It's like it's engraved within me. I was also reminded of Kim Pilsook during her dance part in this mv. Such a cutie bub.
Believe in Love (with Yoo Seung-ho) I'm a sucker for IU duets. This is one of them. I love everything about this mv, IU's vocals never miss. And according to Soompi: "The lyrics of the song are written in reference to Yoo Seung Ho’s diary which he wrote during his trip to Sri Lanka where he witnessed the lives of orphans of wars." Which makes it even more meaningful.
This will be part 1 of my IU recommendations. I hope you'll love them as much as I do. And get the recognition IU deserves for her artistry not just her looks. I truly admire her mind and her humble beginnings as now she mastered her craft and managed to maintain on top of her career.

respectfully, this is very ignorant of you, just because you don't see what that kind of support has done, it doesn't mean that it's useless, as someone who has family that's affected by the current events it means a lot that people are spreading awareness and talking about to this day, and with what south africa is currently doing, it's proof that it is indeed helpful, posting about what's going on, is one of the many ways to show solidarity for the injustice palestinians are facing, even the smallest action can go a long way.
Long response under the cut:
Anon you are talking to a south Asian woman whose family was directly affected by genocide in Sri Lanka. Think about who you’re talking to. It’s also extremely weird of you to say that I’m somehow ignorant of support. I see “support,” I’m saying that I don’t think it is the extent of true support as people think it is.
I think awareness has a use to an extent but I’m allowed to think it’s useless when overall I’ve seen the lack of help it’s done for certain communities. At some point it just becomes sensationalist, doomed stuff for western audiences to sympathize with and not anything more. I am proud of people making efforts for Palestine, but the vast majority of people out there will use this as an attempt to show solidarity and nothing more. I’ve seen this happen with Sri Lankan politics online, with very intricate Tamil issues becoming nothing more than hashtags and content for people to make trend and then forget about again.
And people posting just for the sake of posting drowns out the posts which we should actually listen to. Not every person with a blog needs to state “free Palestine” when that should already be obvious. It comes across as patronizing, a sad way to sum up the real geo-political issue at hand, especially when most of these people would not put their money where their mouth is, and only say these things to fit in with a trend. Like where is the actual help?
See BLM or Breonna Taylor. Forgive me for being cynical of western politics I guess.
Also I can put what I think is relevant on my blog. If you took my post as being unsupportive of Palestine, I am sorry for that. I just don’t see how my fanfiction blog is going to help anyone if I just make a post stating how I support freeing Palestine. I know it’s a privilege to have a blog for fun, but that does not mean I’m ignoring the genocide at hand. You don’t know what I do IRL or what news I’m keeping up with. And a lot of those posts are guilt tripping people, because then people will reblog and feel as if they made a difference. That original post I reblogged detailed great ways to actually help people IRL instead of internet activism. Awareness is not worth as much as you think.
My dad went through extreme poverty in Sri Lanka, and the aftermath of a genocide on our people. Please do not think I don’t know what I’m talking about or that I’m very spoiled and ignorant like you’re trying to say. He himself thinks the internet is all a bunch of talk, helpful in spreading info, but not helpful in making changes. At the end of the day he agrees it’s about money, whether that’s donating or boycotts, and I agree with him because I know what he went through.
I also have personally made efforts to help Palestine in my own personal life and I hope you have too, because that’s what significantly counts to me, not whatever our digital footprints are. People can think different about this, if you think lesser of me for thinking internet activism doesn’t do much, then just unfollow or get off my blog.
