jus remembered the trauma of black ops 2 this morning like treyarch was truly sick and twisted for making that game??? like woods in that shipping container??? hudson revealing he has kids before getting brutally murdered??? the whole ‘woods raised david after accidentally killing his dad who also happened to be his best friend the same night he was permanently disabled’ plot point??? the story with menendez and his sister?? like what the fuck was that what were they on

-Spoilers for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Ahead.-

Bro I literally teared up. I am honestly only playing for the character that is Frank Woods. I grew up with Alex Mason and his story and recently I've gotten back into it as an adult. I love the arc we have sort've been on with Alex and Frank. They are so special to me and I could go on forever about them- but enough about me-

So Far there are two moments that I've just loved and been incredibly sad at. The shorter one, that you will probably barely notice, is when we are back at the mansion-manor?, home? house?-

We, as Case, are next to my new favorite person maybe ever Felix. The rest are near a fire they have and before Adler radios in with bad news, you hear the end of a funny memory Frank is sharing with the team.

So far, I have felt that even though we have the same Frank Woods, he is a very obviously subdued version of him. It's felt like... I don't know. Do you know when you're pretending you are normal and cracking jokes but you're so exhausted and you'd rather not say anything but you don't want anyone to ask you anything. I do think he's like making an effort but this whole situation starts off with Adler who we later learn is the one being blamed for Frank's "Condition" and the deaths of Alex Mason and Jason Hudson. I wouldn't want to be reminded of that dang mission ever in my life but suddenly Adler is back into the mix and suddenly it's all about Panama and Mason and who Frank once was- and I think it's a lot for him. He's older. He can't fight. He can't move as he once did. Now, he has people he is mentoring. He's staying back while they go. He had built a wall around these people because this isn't forever and he didn't owe them a sob story. Anyway- so yeah it's a big deal that he's sharing a story with them because it's a story about Alex. It's not confirmed but all we hear is something in the realm of (I'm paraphrasing)

"Yeah, we are in D.C. now- Not Alaska." Which prompts a laugh from the people there.

Now. Let's put on our thinking caps on and try to remember who in the game is canonically Alaskan.

ALEX MASON. HE'S TELLING THEM ABOUT ALEX AND A FUNNY STORY ABOUT HIM. BECAUSE FRANK KNEW HIM. FRANK KNEW HIM AND KNEW ALL SIDES OF HIM and Alex wasn't just some coworker that survived getting brainwashed and was basically the best soldier there ever was.

Alex was his best friend. They mention it multiple times in the story.

Frank lost his Best Friend. Most of all, he feels it was his fault because he pulled the trigger.

He let his walls down and he's letting these people in to know someone so important to him.

The next moment is when we go up to talk to him and ask how he's doing. I think there is a visible change in him. He feels lighter.

He talks about enjoying the "thing they have going on." They don't take orders from anyone and they're kind of their own paramilitary group in a way. No hidden agendas just stopping the bad guys. and Case responds with, "You don't have to go back to Langley."

And why would he want to go back there let's be honest.

And THEN HE RESPONDS WITH "I haven't told anyone this but with Mason gone, I wanna look after his boy... Bring him up."

And what had me in this scene isn't that he is going to raise David, We know he ends up doing that.

BUT how much Frank has come to terms with letting go.

Frank obviously to some degree enjoyed his job. I don't know how long he did it for but, he is still involved back at the C.I.A so we can see that he didn't want to be left out completely.

And he gets a taste of that back.

He has found something that works for him and allows him to continue on this path. But. BUT.

"With Mason gone, I wanna look after his boy."

He's going to leave it behind for David and Alex.

He's not going to leave David alone. ALEX WENT BACK TO THAT LIFE despite having PROMISED his son that he was done. because of frank. Frank needed him and Alex saved him.

A lot of fans point at Frank and Alex and say Gay lovers.

and like yeah what about it.

But also I think what the writers are going for is the most devasting option is that these guys are Best Friends and that's so much worse.

Idk if any of ya'll ever had a best friend, but there are moments when you question if God made them just for you.

Because the closeness you feel in your soul and the Love that is the same Love and Loyalty you reserve only for Family outpours to them as well. And they aren't family but they're someone who knows the most inner parts of you. A best friend is someone who loves you back just the same.

I honestly believe that there was nothing Frank could've ever done that would've turned Alex away from him. Frank was blinded by revenge and accidentally killed an innocent girl, but Alex remained by his side.

It just killed me because Frank could've kept going, Idk if he retires after COD 6 something tells me he does, but he doesn't.

David needs him. He needs to keep Alex's memory alive and I personally headcannon that Frank mentions Alex all the time. Like it's rare if you don't hear about Frank's best friend Alex in a whole week because that was Frank's best friend and he was a Badass.

Anyways there might've been more for me to say but it's late .

Dadler and Gravesosn au headcannon

1.Bell is named after Phillip's favorite toy Mr. Bell who is a Blue teddy bear with a missing eye.

2. bell breaks into Adler's house and finds Phillips drawing's on the fridge stuck to the fridge with animal magnets

3. Phillip speaks with Adler regularly either over the phone, in person or even over fucking email they always talk.

4. Phillip had started smoking as a marine recruit as soon as Adler found out. all of Phillip cigarettes miraculously disappeared from the entire base.

5. if Adler dies (looking at you Bell) the whole of shadow company shows up at his funeral to pay respects and comfort Phillip.

6. Adler is in charge of 141 because of Shepard's betrayal/court case. Adler quickly finds about their hate for his son/graves and does some detective work but after trying to resolve the tension between 141 and Phillip he just ends up taking them all to shadow company's thanksgiving.

7. while Adler is in charge of 141 they find out that he's Phillip dad by a series of photos on his desk of kid Philip and shadow company family photos.

8. Adler rants to woods about 141 on a daily basis so much so that woods wants to meet them so he shows up literally blowing the door off its hinges and rolling (literally) into the room with two six-packs of beer.

9. Adler always has a picture of Phillip with him whenever he can (outside of missions) he has one in his office, car, wallet and one next to his bed

10. woods spoils Phillip and David so much to the point that Adler has to throw a 12 pack of beer and box of cigarettes at him to get woods to stop.

Dating David Mason would include:

● Cuddles every time he gets home, on the couch, on the bed, one time you guys cuddled on the freaking floor. .

● Knowing everything about each other. Even the specific stuff. (Like how he only wants two onions minimum in his burger. .)

● Woods absolutely loving you. He doesn't normally like anyone, and David knows that. He was really nervous when he took you to the vault to meet him. All it took was for you to recognise him on his framed pictures. He was happy he was still recognisable.

"I told you I still looked good, Dave!" He would tease David.

● Arguments. Sometimes heated, sometimes not. But never to a point where David hurts you. If he ever hurt you, he can have that pistol kiss his forehead.

However, he always apologises when he's in the wrong. If you're in the wrong, you apologise to him with a few hugs and kisses while he's busy working on his laptop. He does the same, sometimes with a gift or two. .

● Dates in an old diner. That includes sharing a milkshake, him feeding you some of his food, and you doing it back. Just cheesy romantic stuff.

● You are both obsessed with cats. . The problem is that he doesn't know how to handle cats. He can handle dogs since he's used to all the military dogs around. But he still loves cats a lot. He may not know how to quite treat them properly like you do, but cats always seem to go to him first. He would just laugh and pet their fuzzy heads as you snapped a few photos of him.

(Also set one of them as your wallpaper. .)

● If you're tired, he does everything that should be done. He makes dinner, cleans, and then lays down with you.

● He's a huge fan of WWE. He watches all of the matches. Every Friday night, you two are snuggled up watching smackdown. You're only half paying attention to the match, while his eyes are wide open. If his favourite wrestler wins, he screams in excitement and accidently woke you up.

"So sorry, baby. . I got too excited, Roman Reigns won!"

● If you guys aren't married yet, he always looks away when you change. Or he just walks out. When he walks back in and sees your outfit, oh, he'll be complementing you till Christmas.

"Damn, you look so pretty in that! Are you sure you wanna wear that to a picnic, love?? What if it gets all muddy?? Who am I kiddin', you'll look good even with mud. You're freakin' angelic!"

● If he gets a nightmare, he sits up and lets out a gasp. It wakes you up and he tries to pester you to sleep again. But you won't leave him like that. .

Sometimes, he sobs quietly. Completely loose in your arms or sat on the counter, his hand on his forehead. While a glass of half-drank water sits beside him. His nightmares revolve around his father's death, and images of his body flash his mind. Or Woods' broken, bleeding kneecaps.

You comfort him with your humming, your embraces, and your gentle kisses. He falls asleep after a little bit.

● He gets really embarrassed when Woods shows his old drawings and pictures to you. His nose and cheeks get all red, and he's just standing there, pouting like a little kid while you chuckle at what little Dave had imagined when he was younger.

"Uncle Woods, that shit is old. . She doesn't need to see that."

He's just gonna try and sneak around to take the pile of childish drawings away, but no matter how old Woods is, he's always gonna catch him.

"Hey! Don't ya touch that! What else am I gonna look at before I go ta' sleep!? Hah. . ! I need a damn smoke. . Nurse Batshit! Where's my smokes!?"

I have a Black Ops 2 playthrough going while I work and I actually forgot a lot. I played through it so quickly 3 years ago and haven't played it again because 😭 (also I'm not looking forward to the strike force missions). But damn.

But I'm also getting a little mad. Because if you think Woods is stupid and or impulsive yeah you haven't played this game. You haven't even watched a playthrough. You haven't even touched it.

I knew I was right. I internalized his characterization but forgot about specific moments. But there's SO MUCH solid evidence in this game (also in BO1 which I have played multiple times, it's my favorite ok?).

I don't want to write an essay but I MIGHT.

Took these from Hollow's playthrough (that's why he's there). But I think this has me motivated to pick up Black Ops 2 even though I'm BIG SAD about the canon ending. So I'll take my own pics then.
