CLASSIC ROCK BOOKMARKERS PART 20: BORN IN JANUARY
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you so much to everyone who liked and shared my bookmarkers last year. I'm so happy that all of you liked them. I had so much fun doing them and I loved all your tags and comments in each post. This year I'm going to make bookmarkers once a month (But of course there will be special posts.) I'll make them with rock stars who were born each month. Please, let me know with a comment on this post who you would like to see in February.(Remember, only artists who were born in February. The limit is 30 names.)

After the Uganda–Tanzania War, Tanzanian troops discovered Bloch's body in 1979 in a sugar plantation around 20 miles (32 km) from Kampala, near the Jinja Road. Visual identification was impossible because her face was badly burned, but the corpse showed signs of a leg ulcer. A pathologist working with the Israel Defense Forces formally identified Bloch from the remains. Her remains were returned to her son in Israel, where she was given an Israeli state funeral. She was buried in Jerusalem's Har HaMenuchot Cemetery. (Wikipedia)

Another Tylvinian Tale update
Just finished the lineart for one of the sprites of the game: Pax!
It still needs color, and I'll reveal it when that color is done, but the lines for Pax's idle sprite are complete. By the end of tomorrow, you'll all get to see Pax in all their glory!
From this point on I'll be working on them in order, or as inspiration guides. This means I'll be doing them in this order, unless I get a flash of inspiration to do someone else's sprite:
David, Ryder, Davina, Trace, Luka, Olivia, Merissa, Devon, Cyrus, Nivo, Krieger, Savannah, Sasha, Garret, and Moss.
Why am I working on art, this early, you may ask? Simple.
I'm only a hop, skip, and a jump from being entirely done with Day One, entirely.
And given I won't need any sprites that AREN'T used in the demo version of the game, I'll be alternating between focusing on coding the game and creating the necessary sprites and artwork for the demo version.
I'll keep you all updated. ;)

Manhattan, Upper West Side, 1957. Against the backdrop of the decaying tenements in the San Juan Hill neighbourhood and the constant threat of the wrecking ball, two warring gangs--tough Riff's Jets and swaggering Bernardo's Puerto Rican Sharks--fight for supremacy. Now, with a once-and-for-all, winner-takes-all rumble on the cards, an unexpected whirlwind romance at the high-school dance between former Jet brawler Tony and Bernardo's delicate little sister María sets the stage for an all-out turf war. But what's a gang without its territory? Above all, when the future is uncertain, what's hope without love?

Directed by Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner Tony Kushner, “West Side Story” tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City. This reimagining of the beloved musical stars Ansel Elgort (Tony); Rachel Zegler (María); Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino); Ana Isabelle (Rosalía); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke); and Rita Moreno (as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works). Moreno – one of only three artists to be honored with Academy®, Emmy®, GRAMMY®, Tony® and Peabody Awards – also serves as one of the film’s executive producers. Bringing together the best of both Broadway and Hollywood, the film’s creative team includes Kushner, who also serves as an executive producer; Tony Award® winner Justin Peck, who choreographed the musical numbers in the film; renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor and GRAMMY Award® winner Gustavo Dudamel, who helmed the recording of the iconic score; Academy Award®-nominated composer and conductor David Newman (“Anastasia”), who arranged the score; Tony Award®-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (“Fun Home,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie”), who supervised the cast on vocals; and Grammy®-nominated music supervisor Matt Sullivan (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Chicago”), who served as executive music producer for the film. The film is produced by Spielberg, Academy Award®-nominated producer Kristie Macosko Krieger and Tony Award®-winning producer Kevin McCollum. “West Side Story” has been adapted for the screen from the original 1957 Broadway show, with book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and concept, direction and choreography by Jerome Robbins.

His music has brought me 1000s of hours of joy and insight, and tributes to him will abound this week. For my part I am listing 12 Bowie songs that resonate with me at this moment:
Aladdin Sane (1973) All the Madmen (1970)
Days (2003) Everyone Says ‘Hi’ (2002)
Fame (1975) ‘Heroes’ (1977) Jump They Say (1993)
Life on Mars (1971)
Space Oddity (1969)
Starman (1972)
Stay (1976)
+ (one I aim to cover someday) the powerful “techno spiritual” Dead Man Walking (1997):
“Let me dance away [Till I swivel back round then I fly fly fly] Now I'm wiser than dreams
[Losing breath from the water when I'm gone gone gone] Let me fly fly fly [Spinning slack through reality] While I'm touching tomorrow [Deadens my brain falling up through the years] And I know Who's there [Till I swivel back round then I fly fly fly] [Losing breath from the water when I'm gone gone gone] When silhouettes fall [Spinning slack through reality]
And I'm gone, Like I'm dancing on angels And I'm gone through a crack in the past
Like a dead man walking…”

250(ish) Favorite Arrowverse Episodes: Part 4: 175-151
Picked from „Arrow“, „Black Lightning“, „Supergirl“, „Legends of Tomorrow“, „The Flash“, „Barwoman“ Season 1+2 and „Superman & Lois“ Season 1+2. I did consider kicking „Superman & Lois“ of this list, but since it pretended to be part of the Arrowverse for its first two seasons I left it on here.
175. My Name is Oliver Queen (Arrow 3x23)
69, Written by: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Jake Coburn, Directed by: John Behring
„You were delivered by the prophecy. You wed my daughter. Your name is Al Sah-Him and you are Warith al Ghul!" "My name... is Oliver Queen!"
174. The Calm (Arrow 3x1)
47, Written by: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Jake Coburn, Directed by: Glen Winter
"I thought that I could be me and the Arrow. But I can't. Not now. Maybe not ever."
173. Legends of Today / Legends of Yesterday (The Flash 2x8/Arrow 4x8)
Part 1: The Flash 2.8/31, Written by: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Aaron and Todd Helbing, Directed by: Ralph Hemecker, Part 2: Arrow 4.8/77, Written by: Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Brian Ford Sullivan, Directed by: Thor Freudenthal
"It's just... the rules keep changing. One day, I have to run through time, the next, I'm fighting a telepathic gorilla, and now we're, what? We're chasing down an immortal madman on a rampage against a reincarnated warrior priestess? I just never thought I'd have superpowers and feel more powerless than I ever have in my entire life."

Roy Harper is not the Green Arrow. Tommy Merlyn is most certainly not the Green Arrow. These are two names on a long list of people who have given so much and sacrificed everything in the name of my crusade.
