BUTUAN: A VIEW OF THE PAST FROM TODAY
The CARAGA region is one place I haven’t been to very often. I made two short visits to Butuan before and both were for senior citizens activities. I haven’t been back there since then, but I was able to make the most of my earlier trips to discover Butuan’s historical significance.
I was warned that Butuan gets pretty flooded every rainy season, so I better time my visit during the dry months. This flooding is not surprising since the great Agusan River traverses a big portion of the densely populated area of Butuan City. There is a theory that the various criss-crossing tributaries like the Masao river and Agusan Pequeno river accumulated so much alluvium through the centuries that it became the land mass that is now Agusan and Butuan. The marshes and swamplands also became a perfect environment for a variety of animals, shells and crustaceans, birds, fishes, and of course - the famous Philippine crocodiles. This is after all the home province of Lolong, the largest captured crocodile.
Any real-life Philippine history lesson should include an actual visit to Butuan. The National Museum there is one of the first inter-active museums in the country and houses valuable relics from the past. These historical and cultural artifacts come from one of the Philippines’ richest archeological digs, stemming even from prehistoric times. There are actually ancient stone and metal implements, woodworks and potteries from the pre-colonial era. These proves that there really was a pretty sophisticated civilization even before the Spaniards came to our islands.
The other famous museum which is a must-see in Butuan is the Balangay Shrine. Several of these wooden boats have been found in the area of Libertad and are thought to be the major transports which took our ancestors from their homelands to the Philippine islands. Made of sturdy, water-resistant wooden planks, amazingly put together without any metal nails, these 15 meters long by 3 meter-wide boats are known as “Balangays”. Imagine these boats travelling across high seas, withstanding storms, carrying a few good men and women with the most adventurous spirits with the hope of beginning new lives elsewhere into the unknown.
Near the Masao river is the Bood Promontory, a wooded area on top of a hill where Magellan was thought to have held the first mass. As such, there is a memorial of sorts, some metal and cement sculpture depicting that historical event. Now known as the Bood Promontory Ecopark, it serves as a nursery and tree park, with fishponds, a hanging bridge, and lots of natural, open space perfect for relaxing. Together with Magellan’s Landing, the Banza church ruins and other old churches, these are markers of how hard the Spanish tried to establish themselves here.
Butuan’s connection with the past is truly extra-ordinary. The latest tourist attraction is on a private property, the Bequibel Shell Midden, which the National Museum considers an unusual archeological dig - the shell midden which goes down several meters into the ground. This site is in the middle of a large expanse of agricultural land, some distance from any waterway. Yet the existence of the shell midden is proof that once upon a time, the area was near a river or tributary. However, centuries of river flow has accumulated enough alluvium to form the landlocked farmland and for the waterway to disappear. Shell middens are actually pre-historic garbage dump-sites – while majority are the disposed shells of seashells eaten by our ancestors, these actually include remnants of other food eaten like animal bones, botanical material, human excrement, and various other refuse. These waste materials can be carbon-dated and can tell us much about the culture and way of life of our ancestors.
Being the marshland that it is, seafood abounds in the local menu. However, I am allergic to shrimps, crabs, or squid, and can only partake of the fresh fish. Butuan is where I tasted one of the best kinilaw na tangguigue served in the form of “sinuglaw” – combination of sinugba or grilled pork and kinilaw or fish ceviche. In these parts, I was also offered classic Mindanao fruits like marang, a type of breadfruit similar to langka, and durian, that stinky but tasty fruit grown only in Philippine, Thailand and Indonesian varieties. I also tasted a unique kind of suman – their sticky rice cake is cooked not just with coconut milk, but with a tinge of ginger. And as in Cebu and Davao, this suman is served with mangoes and hot tsokolate.
The place where I stayed called “Goat-To-Geder” hotel and restaurant was also quite popular for its chevon-based dishes. Sadly, even as the Ilocano that I am, I can only tolerate kalderetang kambing and nothing else. This preference for goat meat is something we share with our South East Asian neighbor, Indonesia, just like their various rice cakes and coconut milk-infused dishes. I remember from my travels that there is even a Malaysian version of our local halo-halo. But more than our similarity in cuisine, the Bahasa language has commonalities with our local dialects, particularly up north, in Ilocano and Kapampangan. So while evidence of the first landings and human settlements were in these parts of Mindanao, who is to say our ancestors did not venture as far up north and reached Luzon.
For anyone seeking true Philippine history through travel, Butuan should be your first stop. It is possible that this is where it all began, or better yet, it can give you a view into the past from where we are in the present. Butuan’s historical sites and museums can give you an idea how these islands first became populated, not by wild savages Spanish colonialists portrayed us to be, but as the civilized communities that lived in communion with nature. It is here in Butuan that shows our ancestors as a proud ancient people who were ever grateful for nature’s gifts like the alluvium from its rivers and springs, giving them living space for settlements, as well as rich, fertile lands for cultivation. But more than anything, these remnants of the past which continue to be discovered and dug up to this day, should remind us of our glorious pre-colonial cultural heritage. In fact, do drop by and take a look at the replica of the Golden Tara if you need more convincing.

China grants P3.7-B to PH to support infra, dev’t initiatives
#PHnews: China grants P3.7-B to PH to support infra, dev’t initiatives
MANILA – The Philippines and China signed Saturday an agreement on economic and technical cooperation that will provide the country with a grant of 500 million renminbi (about USD77.38 million or PHP3.72 billion) from China to support the implementation of infrastructure projects and other development initiatives of the Duterte administration.
The grant is intended to support livelihood projects, infrastructure facilities, feasibility studies for major projects and other projects to be mutually agreed upon by the parties.
“Subject to further discussions between our two governments and depending on the requirements, this may possibly include support for Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) related activities and response measures,” Undersecretary Mark Dennis Joven of the International Finance Group (IFG) of the Department of Finance (DOF) said in a statement Sunday.
Joven signed the agreement on behalf of the Philippines, while Vice Chairman Deng Boqing of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) signed on behalf of the Chinese government.
The signing of the grant accord was witnessed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and visiting China State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in ceremonies held at the Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig City.
The signing of the 500 million renminbi accord brings to seven the number of grant agreements executed and signed with the Chinese government by the Duterte administration.
The signing of the latest agreement brings the grant resources from the Chinese government to a total of 3.25 billion renminbi (about USD496.97 million).
The six grant agreements earlier signed with China amounted to 2.75 billion renminbi (USD417.5 million) combined.
These earlier agreements aim to support the conduct of pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, provision of equipment, and implementation of infrastructure and other agreed projects.
Among the projects being supported or currently funded under these six grant agreements are the construction of bridges along the Pasig-Marikina Rivers connecting Binondo-Intramuros, Estrella-Pantaleon; and along the Davao River (Bucana Bridge); the reconstruction of Marawi City; and the procurement of container inspection equipment of the Bureau of Customs (BOC). I never thought trekking would actually come across my mind the second I suddenly felt the urge of trying out something new. Hence, itching for another adventure, I abruptly decided to book this trip without training. Imagine going for a day hike without proper exercise! I wasn’t really ready for this. Luckily, A good friend of mine also wanted some fresh air. She, too, did not prepare well so we both just hoped and prayed that nature would take us easy since this was our first time going on a hike. From Davao, we had to take a van to Bukidnon where the ridge is located. It took most probably around 6 hours before we arrived in the Ant Farm. We were given some short orientation and a slight glimpse of what will happen during the trek. Without further delays, we then started the trek at 3 AM. The trail consists of: A 5-minutes plain trail followed by a 30-40 minutes downhill trail. After the downhill trek comes a bamboo bridge which only allowed 2 people to cross at a time. Below the bridge was a raging river which you’d hear, were hitting big boulders too. The next part of the trek was another 30-40 minutes uphill trail which had the same steepness of the descent part. Panting and sweating to death, we finally were in a rocky road that we had to walk for 15 minutes and lead us to reach the foot of the ridge. The sun was about to rise when we started to seek yet another uphill trail. Too ascent that I almost fell on my back a couple of times. Too anxious to look back ‘cause I was somehow afraid of heights. Upon reaching the peak comes a breathtaking mountain scenery at the top of Panimahawa Ridge. I was left in awe and felt so re-energized while we were sitting and eating our breakfast, enjoying the sight of the beautiful mountains. Another checked item on my bucketlist, to be 2,687 ft. above hopes and dreams! ❤️
📍Panimahawa Ridge, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon

The Importance of the Economic Ties and Cooperation between China and the Philippines
Here is an interesting Article from the Asian Century Journal (ACJ) showcasing the importance of the Economic Ties and Cooperation between China and the Philippines. Here are some of the most important Quotes from the Article:
“… Some so-called “Experts” and Academics in the Country are urging the Philippine Government to consider stopping and annulling existing Chinese Business operations in the Country if alleged China’s illegal and aggressive actions in the disputed SCS or popularly known in the Philippines as the “West Philippine Sea (WPS)” continue. As far as I am concerned, such a Suggestion from these “Experts” is akin to telling the Philippines to commit Economic Suicide.”
“China has been the Philippines’ Top Trading Partner for seven consecutive Years, with Bilateral Trade reaching $87.73 billion in 2022. In the first seven Months of 2023, China jumped to become the largest Export Market for the Philippines. Thus, China remains the Country’s vital Economic and Trade Partner and is still one of the Country’s top Sources of Investment. In terms of Government-to-Government (G2G) Cooperation Projects between the Philippines and China, they have yielded fruitful Outcomes, with nearly 40 Projects carried out in recent Years, 18 of which have been completed. Apart from Cash, Rice, Fertilizers and Covid-19 Vaccine Donations, an important Highlight is Infrastructure cooperation such as the construction of China-aid Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge, the Bucana Bridge Project in Davao City, the Dangerous Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers, the Chico River Pump Irrigation Project, the three priority Bridges Project (North and South Harbor Bridge, Palanca-Villegas Bridge and the Eastbank-Westbank Bridge) and the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project, among others, are key G2G cooperation Projects between the Philippines and China, which offer and extend real Benefits to the Filipino People.”

To the mountains - 1 March 2019
Today I drove from Vigan to the mountains of the Cordillera. I decided to take a short cut, but after getting through various obstacles I had to admit defeat and return to the main road.
The route recommended by Google was better - but also though mainly a concrete road it appeared to have been built by a drunkard as it went up and down hills for no apparent reason. And by hills we are talking at least one in four, if not one in three. It was like doing the Hardknott and Wrynose Passes continually for an hour or more. We crossed the occasional river bed where the bridge had been washed away. But the views were great.
Eventually we got to a better road - standard mountain windy road with landslides and sheer drops.
I asked Anthony if these were like the roads he took to school. He used to travel over an hour each way by hubble hubble, a motorbike with a side car on each side, three children in each plus the driver and another child behind the driver. He said no, these roads were concrete whereas the roads he travelled to school were rock roads. Rather uncomfortable. He comes from North Davao in Mindanao.
We stopped off in Sagada, which is famous for its hanging coffins which are on the side of a cliff. Unfortunately we were running late so we didn't have time to see them. I am sorry, Lyndon, I didn't get to book you a spot on the cliff.
After another hour and a half of tortuous roads, taking us up into the clouds to reach Banuaue, where we will spend 2 nights and see the world famous rice terraces.

<p>'Zero chance of survival' for 36 people trapped inside burning shopping Center</p>
Philippine firefighters recovered one body from a burning shopping mall on Sunday and there was "zero" chance of survival for 36 other trapped people inside the four-story building in southern Davao town, an official said.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said firefighters told distraught relatives of the 36 trapped employees of a company outsourcing firm at the top floor of the NCCC Mall that nobody can endure the extreme heat and thick black smoke.
"They were told that the chances of survival are" she said, adding that among these trapped may be a Chinese or a South Korean, based on the name.
Rodrigo Duterte claims he once threw a kidnapper from a helicopter
It's uncertain when firefighters can break into many areas of the mall, where the blaze was put under control on Sunday morning although smoke continued to billow in the building. The won't cease until all those reported missing are found, Duterte-Carpio stated.
Researchers will determine the cause of the fire and the prospects of criminal lawsuits against the mall officials and owners would be based on the results of the investigation, said the mayor, who is the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte, the mayor and Roman Catholic Church officials went to the site and met with relatives of those trapped office employees late Saturday and asked them to pray. The president was photographed wiping his eyes with a handkerchief, his head bowed, at an emotional moment with all the relatives.
The mall's marketing manager, Janna Abdullah Mutalib, said the fire began Saturday morning at the third floor where clothing, appliances and furniture are sold, after a storm hit Davao and flooded parts of the city. Except for a grocery at the ground floor and the company outsourcing firm at the top floor, the shopping places were closed to the public once the fire began mid-morning, preventing a larger tragedy amid the peak buying season.

Duterte functioned as Davao mayor for several years before being elected to the presidency this past year.
It's been a challenging season for the tough-talking, 72-year-old leader, who faced his most serious crisis when countless pro-Islamic State group extremists laid siege on Marawi city, also in the southern third of the Philippines. He declared martial law in the south to take care of the insurrection, which troops crushed in October.
The storm that blew from the southern Philippines on Sunday reportedly left more than 120 people dead with 160 others still missing.

I just got back from a road trip with my family. Thank God for the protection , the fun and the camaraderie shared among us during our 2 day East Coast and Compostela Valley tour.
For a day or two, I forgot our pressing concern – the Mindanao Railway Station passing inside Monteritz Classic Estates, where I live. It is awful. Not the railway project. But the thought that the Phase 1 of our subdivision will be rendered invaluable and our neighbors sleeping under the railway station , has brought us many sleepless nights.
The last two days have been a great escape from the worry and stress over it. I’m sure you will feel the same way too if you’re in my shoes. Sigh….
So we went to Cateel, Davao Oriental where Aliwagwag Falls is located through Mati , the Capital City of the Province.
From Davao City, Cateel is more or less, a 7 hour drive via the coastal road. This is such a beautiful drive. Tiring but very pretty. The scenic views of our coastal road is so worth the long travel.
We left home around 5 in the morning. And after so many stops, we arrived in Cateel about 4 in the afternoon. ha ha… Yep it took us 11 hours! Why? There are so many “post card perfect” places along the way. So of course, photo ops are a must. That’s what road trips are made of, making memories along the way. And we did… 🙂 I will share more about it in my next blog.
Our home for the night was Edar’s Place. It is a simple Bed and Breakfast place in Cateel. Their rooms are clean. The food is delicious. The owner and their staff are amazing. They are kind and so helpful. I couldn’t thank them enough for their assistance. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. More of this in my next blog as well.
After breakfast the next day, we left for Aliwagwag Falls. From Edar’s Place, the distance is 16 kilometers. Via the concrete Compostela-Cateel Highway. This route is very scenic too, with the Cateel River just beside it. I wish they had view decks on this road because the turquoise colored river looks amazing, specially with the lush forest as its backdrop.
Aliwagwag Falls is just beside the road. You can actually hear the powerful rushing sound of the water before even seeing it.
And when you do see it, you just stand in front of it. Soaking it all in. My sister said she was teary eyed the first time she saw it.
I stood there for a few minutes. Mesmerized and in awe of something that is so beautiful and magnificent. I have seen Niagara Falls in Canada. And Tinuy-an Falls in Surigao. But this is different. The staggering height and the stunning beauty of this cascading waterfalls left me speechless. I stood there in silence, just taking it all in.
To say that it is amazing, actually , is an understatement.
I remember feeling this way when I stood on a glacier at the Icefields Parkway. When I experienced a winter wonderland at Lake Louise in Banff National Park. When I stood in front of the Grand Tetons. And when I saw the Rocky Mountains in Canada for the first time. Yes, that same feeling. It is so humbling. And for God to have allowed me to see such a splendid beauty, made me realize how blessed I am.
Traveling has changed me and my perspective in life. And this is one of those experiences which makes me love our nature more. I honor the people that are behind the protection of Aliwagwag Falls. And I honor God the most, for giving us Mindanaoans , this gift.
I encourage all of you to visit and experience the place for yourselves. And when you do, please respect it. Leave nothing behind. Most importantly, please take your garbage with you when you’re done. It is but right to leave the place as pristine as the way you first saw it. We need to love and protect the place so our future generation can enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you.
We paid P100.00 per head. That includes the environmental fee of P50.00 . The Mandaya Chieftain who talked to us said that it will be used to develop the place. The government passed a law to protect 11,000 hectares of land surrounding Aliwagwag Falls. That is to ensure that no damages will come to it.
Future developments supposedly include a horse trail going to the highest portion of the waterfall, the “Bangaw” (Rainbow) Falls. And the Sleeping Lady Falls, which drops down 150 meters from the top.
The Bangaw Falls is called as such because a rainbow comes out supposedly when there is a slight drizzle of rain. While the Sleeping Lady Falls is named after the mountain that looks like one near the said waterfalls.
I thanked the chieftain for helping in the protection of Aliwagwag Falls. And asked him to please continue doing so.
Let me share with you some of our memories.
There are picnic tables and chairs for those who brought food and want to eat beside the falls.
There are stairs going down to the water. But first you need to walk through the hanging bridge and the monkey bridge.
There are portions on top that have shallow waters. It’s like having mini pools where you can wade your feet or dip in it to cool off.
We surely, had FUN!!!! 🙂
My sister with my brother inlaw. Nephews and niece, Angel.
Jason, my accounting staff.
My family.
Father and son. Ruben and Blaire.
After an hour or so, we got cold and decided to leave.
Before I forget, if you’re wondering if they have nice bathrooms, shower facilities and changing areas – Yes, there is. So don’t worry. And they are clean too!
Here’s a photo of the bathroom where we changed.
Thank you Aliwagwag for a fun experience. Till we meet again….
Goodbye for now… But we will surely meet again.
Aliwagwag Falls I just got back from a road trip with my family. Thank God for the protection , the fun and the camaraderie shared among us during our 2 day East Coast and Compostela Valley tour.

Alvarez' allies absent in birthday bash
#PHnews: Alvarez' allies absent in birthday bash
DAVAO CITY – What was expected to be a grand reunion with his political leaders and supporters invited to his birthday bash on January 10, Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez was surrounded instead by guests from outside the province of Davao del Norte.
The event, which was highlighted by the launching of his “voters education advocacy”, was held in two venues – the Tagum City Covered Court and Hijo Plantation Beach Resort. Out of eight towns and three city mayors of the province, only the host City Mayor of Tagum, Allan Rellon, was present.
Rellon was described to have been surprised that what was thought of as a simple ceremony for the launching and birthday of Alvarez, the attendees surpassed what is allowed in a gathering because of Covid-19.
Gov. Edwin Jubahib, who facilitated the event's preparation was the other local official present.
Guests from outside the province include LPGMA party-list Rep. Arnel Ty, Tarlac Rep. Noel Villanueva, Agusan del Sur Gov. Santiago Cane, actor, and ex-Makati Rep. Monsour del Rosario, and several board members from Bulacan.
A surprise appearance was Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan chair Lito Banayo.
Conspicuously absent were Davao del Norte Rep. Allan Dujali of the 2nd District and Vice Gov. Rey Uy. The two were rumored to have parted ways with Alvarez when he quit the ruling party and started taking a jab at Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HnP) leaders were not also amused with the manifesto that Alvarez posted as part of what was earlier announced as “voters education” advocacy.
Emblazoned in the manifesto is “We Need a Leader, 2022” and a litany of criticism against how the Duterte government handled the pandemic crisis and other political and economic issues.
Lies and distortion
Former Davao de Oro Governor and now Senior Board Member Arturo Uy denounced what he described as blatant lies and distortion of what the government has done and been doing to address the complex problems brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and how the Duterte administration handled the issues surrounding the West Philippine Sea.
“Pinapalabas ni Alvarez na wala ng ginawang mabuti ang pamahalaang Duterte upang matulungan at maibsan ang kahirapan ng mga mamamayan sa gitna ng problemang dulot ng pademya. Pinapalabas din niya na parang kasalanan ng gobyerno ang mawalan ng trabaho at mga OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) na yon nama’y dahil maraming negosyo na nagsara dahil sila rin ay naapektuhan ng pandemya (Alvarez makes it appear that the administration of Duterte is not doing anything to help and alleviate the difficulties of the people in the midst of the pandemic. He also put the blame on the government for why the OFWs lost their jobs when the real cause is that businesses [in other countries] closed because of the pandemic),” Uy said.
He added that through the initiative of President Duterte, Davao del Norte province, towns and cities were recipients of more of less PHP800-million under Bayanihan 1 and 2 and other augmentation funds to help those who lost their livelihood due to the pandemic.
The President, he said, saw to it that the province gets a substantial budget for infrastructures.
Uy, who is an incumbent pillar of HnP, denounced the group for putting the blame on Duterte for tension at the West Philippine Sea and loss of Scarborough shoal when the truth is the islands at WPS had been a subject of the multi-lateral claim and it was the administration of ex-Pres. Benigno Aquino abandoned the Scarborough.
He said he is in accord with the diplomatic strategies of Duterte as Filipino fishermen can still fish in the traditional fishing ground and China opening their markets for Philippine products.
China, he added, is now the biggest buyer of Philippine Cavendish bananas thus saving thousands of jobs especially the agricultural workers in Davao del Norte.
He said because of Duterte, China extends cheap loans to the Philippines to finance infrastructure projects including the Samal bridge, three bridges that span Pasig River that cost billions of pesos are also donations from China, not to mention the unquantifiable assistance the country extended to help medical front-liners.
Uy, who had been tasked by HnP to strengthen the regional party, hit innuendos in the manifesto stating that the next President for 2022 is a leader who is “not a pretender”, “with brains”, with “balls” and political will, and can lead.
He said the party will continue to support the leadership of President Duterte who steadfastly navigate the country against all the challenges of the time, adding that the region will always be behind HnP chairperson, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
Duterte, he added, is a genuine leader imbued with courage and intellect.
“And yes she has the political will and guts to engage even a Speaker of the House if needed,” he said, referring to the Mayor who topped the recent Pulse Asia survey among the probable Presidential candidates in the 2022 elections. (PNA)

Pet projects for Davao keep Mayor Sara from seeking Senate seat
DAVAO CITY -- The city government's big-ticket projects are the reasons why Mayor Sara Duterte will seek re-election rather than a Senate seat in the 2019 mid-term elections.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte (Photo by Lilian C. Mellejor)
Mayor Sara spelled out her big plans for the city that have hindered her to go national in her State of the City Address (SOCA) on Tuesday during the regular session of the city council.
The projects include the multi-million Davao-Samal Bridge connector, the High Priority Bus System (HPBS), coastal road and bridges, and other city building projects.
Sara, who has been rumored to be eyeing a Senate seat, said a three-year term is too short for her to accomplish her dreams for the city.
First on her list is the PHP3.64 billion HPBS project under the city government's Comprehensive Transportation and Traffic Management Plan funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The ADB, in coordination with the city government of Davao, had designed the project that includes a bus terminal, bus stops, and lighting.
HPBS involves the fielding of 100-capacity buses.
The presidential daughter said the city is finalizing the implementation of the plan, with five identified routes.
It is now under discussion with the Land Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and private bus companies, particularly for testing the initial routes.
“I am not optimistic it will be implemented by December, but it will happen in 2019,” she said in a press conference on the sidelines of the SOCA.
The lady mayor said she is also pushing for the Davao-Samal Bridge connector, extension of the Diversion Road, Davao River Boulevard, and the Talomo Viaduct. All are identified in the Infrastructure Modernization for Davao or IM4DVO, which serves as a guide in the city’s pursuit for a better city.
Also in the pipeline are the construction of city government offices, school facilities, and tourism-related projects.
“Kulang ang three years. Gusto nako ug fresh mandate kung mosugot ang mga taga-Davao (Three years is short. I want a fresh mandate if Dabawenyos will allow me),” she told reporters.
The projects may not be completed by 2022, but at least the projects will be started during her term, she said.
Sara earlier said she had not changed her mind about not running for the Senate despite making it to the top choices for senatorial bets in latest poll surveys.
She was also one of the top choices among 184 members of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) for the senatorial slate survey.
Sara said she has chosen her running mate in the 2019 mid-term elections, but the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) local slate is yet to be finalized. (PNA)
