"Yeah Hercule. Thought I could take some time-off to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family, and you're family too." Gohan spoke to Hercule.
Pan looks inside to see Majin Buu and Tommy, and already, she started to fly into the rotund Majin's arms. "Wow... Pan sure likes Buu." Videl said as they walked in.
Videl kneels down and pets Bee on the head. "Hey there, Bee."
"Happy Thanksgiving, Dad!" Videl greeted to her father, Hercule Satan. (@muses-of-the-memory)
“Hey, hey! Videl! Glad you and Gohan could make it. And you brought my little granddaughter, Pan-Pan too.” Hercule smiled.
Meanwhile, Tommy was getting ready for Thanksgiving and helped Majin Buu get up.

In DBGT Buu fucking dies which means that there is no one with whom Mr Satan can fake the tournament. Which means it's gotta be an earnest show. But hes getting old & depressed that Buu has fucking died. So he does what any man in his position would do, he lies to Goku about there being a height requirement so that Goku (a kid bc it's GT) plays in the junior division meanwhile Pan plays the adults. So that she can be the champion.
I'm not making this up this is what happened on the episode "Curtain Call." And when Videl & Gohan hear about the height requirement from Goku, they know it's bullshit.
And rather than realizing that Mr Satan did this so that Pan could be the next champ, Videl first just thinks that Mr Satan did this becasue he sucks. "That is so like my dad to fix a fight." And then she crosses her arms.
GIRL. You are a grown woman. Yes your dad lied to Goku but DID YOU NOTICE HOW YOUR DAUGHTER WAS FIGHTING WITH THE ADULTS ?
She is just so sensitive to her father's faults that she cares more about the fight being fixed than she does about Buu being fucking dead or her daughter participating in the tournament.
I kind of hate Videl in GT. First of all she exchanged her hot red for a blue denim outfit. Second of all she is SUCH a strict parent. Third of all I DONT believe that she grew her hair out that fast. And fourth of all I dont think shes healed from anything and in fact I think she has gotten worse (hence her overbearing parenting).
It's not what I want to see from her ... She never even lights a cigar despite having been a parent for 9 years. Where's her class where's her maturity

unprompted / always accepting / @forthehonorandtheglory “Looks like you’re stuck with me now.” ( -Videl /also hi! nice to see a Yusuke blog around! )
His eyes turned towards the young woman before him. The daughter if the champ, he expects her to be rather powerful in her own right. But is she stronger than her old man? Probably time will tell. "Not sure I see it that way, I mean you're hot, have a decent ass. Don't ya think it's you're the one that's stuck with me?" There was his smirk, teasing, playful and just a little crude but for the most part he was harmless.

HanVi Week 2020: Day Seven: Wedding
Wedding
Ironic how a night of storms brings about the brightest mornings. It was as if a higher power was apologizing for the calamity of the previous night. Last night was a wild one. Rain and hail pounded the rooftops and windows. Wind howled violently ripping a few shingles of homes. This didn’t happen at the home of Mr. Satan, world savior of the Cell Games. No, his mansion was too sturdy and strong to buckle at the wild weather.
The pavilions on display in his mass backyard weren’t so lucky. The canopy pavilions that flew in the wind became flying projectiles were spread out over the yard with one in the roof of the gazebo pavilion. Expensive flowers were scattered over the yard along with a few garden statues. The father of the bride woke up in a panic seeing the mess of his yard on his daughter’s most important day.
Her wedding day.
The wedding planner was on the phone making arrangements for new pavilions, a gazebo and flowers to be delivered. It was expensive, especially the imported flowers but cost meant nothing for Mr. Satan to give his daughter the perfect wedding.
While the father of the bride was on task to make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch, miles away the father of the groom took the small stroll from his bedroom to his son’s room. He was his son’s best man and as such responsible to not only give a speech at the wedding (he wasn’t looking forward to that) but also was responsible to throw him a bachelor party. Son Goku had zero experiences organizing anything. He was saved from asking his wife on what to do when his former teacher offered to organize the party. Master Roshi never had the chance to throw Goku one. He wouldn’t miss the opportunity to throw one for his son.
Goku brought Gohan to Master Roshi’s home expecting a party similar to the ones Bulma hosted at her home. Gohan’s friends from college and work were there. His friends, Krillin and Yamcha were there, too as were many party girls, strippers and alcohol!
The latter of the three took Goku and Gohan by surprise. Gohan’s friends and Yamcha took full advantage of the many beautiful women and alcohol. Krillin acted as bodyguard to Gohan when some of the women became too flirty with the groom. Some of the beautiful women flirted with Goku but his blunt rejection and confusion of the flirty women left them cold. Gohan indulged in the alcohol and games as he was used to sharing drinks and attending parties with his friends during college. Goku had a few drinks though didn’t feel the kick that eventually affected Master Roshi, Krillin and Yamcha. His Saiyan body had more resistant to alcohol than everyone else. Gohan being half Saiyan started to feel the effects with a buzz as the evening wore on.
It was a fun evening. Goku didn’t understand all of it but it was fun. He didn’t mind the strippers though he preferred the stripping performances of his wife. The card and drinking games were hilarious. Watching a drunk Master Roshi, Yamcha and Gohan friends make fools of themselves were slightly funny though confusing to him. By the end of the night, the alcohol eventually got to Krillin who begged Goku to not tell ChiChi he drunkenly motorboated a beautiful woman who he mistaken for his wife. If ChiChi knew, his wife will know and only Porunga can bring him back.
The party ended after three in the morning. Yamcha and Master Roshi stayed at Master Roshi’s home while the party girls and strippers were picked up by their company’s vehicle services. Goku being the only sober one, teleported Goku’s friends to Mr. Satan’s home. The vast mansion had guest rooms for everyone and since the bride was on the other side of the mansion she didn’t see or know about the arrival of her drunk guests. Unfortunately, when Goku teleported to Mr. Satan’s home, he used Mr. Satan’s Ki and teleported to his bedroom where the world champ was being entertained by two women.
Indulging with naked women sexually seemed to be the theme of the night and like Krillin, he had to promise not to tell ChiChi who would tell Videl of what her father was doing the night before her wedding.
Returning to Master Roshi’s place, he found a buzzed Gohan helping a drunk Yamcha and Master Roshi in bed. Krillin was drunk but sober enough to clean up and fly home. That left Gohan. He was clearly buzzed as they say and knew he couldn’t take Gohan to ChiChi like this. So, keeping a hand around his son’s waist flew, hoping the flight will have him sober when they arrive home.
It didn’t. Gohan stumbled a few times in the dark house as Goku walked him to his room. Gohan was sober enough to dress alone but Goku stood at the door just in case he was needed. As soon as Gohan’s head tapped the pillow, he was knocked out. Goku looked over the room briefly before walking out. His room was very sparse now. As a wedding present, Mr. Satan bought a huge capsule home for Gohan and Videl. To the surprise of everyone, the engaged couple decided they will place their home next to Gohan’s parents’ house. Videl was a city girl but over the years of courting Gohan grown accustomed to the country life her future husband lived. It also would give her the privacy she and Gohan could never have living in the city.
Goku returned to his room where ChiChi was fast asleep. Removing his clothes, Goku climbed in bed with his wife. His presence awakened her as ChiChi rolled over and snuggled with Goku.
“You smell of alcohol and smoke,” ChiChi mumbled.
“I had a few drinks but Gohan’s friends were smoking.” He wiggled his nose as if he could still smell the stench of smoke.
“And Gohan?”
Goku recalled seeing Gohan puff a few cigarettes. He didn’t understand the habit himself. It was something Gohan picked up among his friends in college. It wasn’t a habit ChiChi or Videl were pleased with, but as it was something Gohan indulged in only when with his friends, it was tolerated for now.
“He had a couple of cigarettes.”
“Maybe a child will force that indulgence out of him,” ChiChi murmured. “You protect him from the women?”
“I did. Krillin did most of it…..”
“Before he got drunk,” ChiChi sleepily finished. “18 will find out what he did and tell me. I imagined he’s buzzed but as long as Gohan isn’t hungover for the wedding…” Another yawn departed from ChiChi’s lips. “You’re his best man, Goku, but you’re his father so look out for him a little longer.”
****
Gohan had a slight throb to his head when he woke up. The effects of last night still lingered. He pulled off the covers slightly confused. His memory was a little foggy but he recalled flying home with his Dad. He felt the strong arm of his father around him as the two talked and laughed at the events of the night.
It was nice bonding with his father this way. Gohan always cherished the bonding he and his father shared when it didn’t include fighting. Unfortunately, that’s when most of their bonding occurred in his early childhood. In his twenties now, Gohan’s memories of his life with his mother and father before Uncle Raditz were fading. Where Gohan could remember hours of events in a day as child, as a man those memories were flashes now. He remembered pieces of those events, recall feelings of being held by his parents; a warm kiss on his cheek from his mother; a tender rub of his head from his father.
Full memories of those moments were locked away in old family photos or the sharp mind of his mother who would share stories of those days from time to time. Bonding with his father didn’t start again until after he returned to life. It was an adjustment. Gohan had grown and changed from when he last saw his father. His father had to adjust a lot because he still saw Gohan as a nine-year-old boy instead of a teenager in high school with friends, a girlfriend and a life that didn’t include fighting. There were awkward moments where his father tried to carry him on his shoulders as a child; things his Dad did that were embarrassing to Mom but fine to Gohan as a child were now embarrassing now as an adult.
One of Gohan’s favorite bonding moments with his Dad occurred when he talked to him about proposing to Videl. His Mom told him Dad has different sides. There were sides only she has seen. The night before Gohan proposed to Videl, Gohan got a glimpse of what his Mom meant.
“Whatcha doin’ out here, Gohan?”
Gohan’s father float from the ground to sit with him on the roof of their home. Recalling the small box in his hand, Gohan shoved the velvet box in his pocket.
“What’s that, Gohan?”
Gohan cringed. He hoped Dad didn’t see that. Knowing his Dad will keep asking until he told him, Gohan took out the box. “I….I got something for Videl. I don’t know how to give it to her.”
“That box?” Goku took the box from Gohan and opened it. “Ya wanna give Videl a ring?” Gohan prepared himself to explain the purpose of the ring since his Dad didn’t understand when….. “Oh!” it dawned on Goku. “Ya gonna ask Videl to marry you.” He handed the box back to him. “Just ask her, Gohan. She’s gonna say yes.”
Gohan stared at the diamond ring. He knew Videl will say yes. They both love each other. Videl even hinted about children one day so logically Videl should say yes but it was still scary to ask her. What if he’s wrong? What if she says no? Erasa turned down her boyfriend’s proposal and they’ve been living together since college. Erasa was happy in her relationship but she wasn’t sure if she was ready for a permanent commitment. Being Videl’s friend, this worried Gohan.
“I know….but what if she doesn’t.”
“Gohan,” Gone was Dad’s lighthearted voice. He was suddenly serious. “Don’t worry. Videl will say yes. She’s been waiting for this. Don’t make the mistake I did and kept Mom so waiting so long she worried I wouldn’t marry her.”
Gohan knew the story of his parents’ proposal. It sounded like them. “But you didn’t know you promised Mom you will marry her when you were a kid. She misunderstood, too, but you both got over that.”
“We did, but for too long, Mom thought I only married her because of the promise. She didn’t realize I did fall in love with her.” He shrugged sheepishly. “I wasn’t good with that type of stuff with your Mom then. She knows I love her but I wish I could take away the hurt I caused. I hurt her a lot over the years but this one, I really wish I could have a second chance at that.” Gohan stared at his Dad astonished. He couldn’t remember his Dad talk about his emotions like this. He didn’t know his Dad was capable of it.
This was definitely a rare moment and Gohan knew he couldn’t let it go to waste. So, he asked, “What second chance?”
Dad was quiet for several moments. Gohan thought he missed his opportunity but his father quietly confessed, “I wish I proposed to her.”
Whoa! Gohan never expected to hear that but it made sense. “Gohan,” Dad warned him. “Don’t keep her waiting. The longer you do, the longer she will have doubts about you two. Don’t ever let her feel that.”
Gohan took his father’s advice to heart. The next day he proposed to Videl and wedding plans were on the way.
He lied in bed late this morning thinking of how momentous this day and how that talk with Dad led to this when he heard a knock on his door. “Gohan? Are ya awake?”
He should be, Gohan mused as he sat up. It was almost 11am and he was getting married at 2pm. That bachelor party. He thought of the behavior of his friends. He had a slight head throb that will gone by the ceremony but his friends were suffering a heavy hungover. Saiyan blood was a blessing.
Dad entered the room. He was already dressed in his suit except his tie hung loosely around his neck. Mom got him ready. Dad could put on a suit but after all these years, still didn’t know how to tie a tie. “Are Mom and Goten still here?”
“I took Mom to Mr. Satan’s place. Mom is helping Videl get ready. That means I have to get Goten ready.” Dad laughed nervously. “ChiChi has a lot of faith in me to do that.”
Gohan pushed off the bed covers and swung his long legs off the bed. “I’ll help.” Aside from a few clothes, most of Gohan’s things were in the house Mr. Satan gifted to him and Videl. After a week holiday to a beach resort, the newlyweds were going to settle in their new home. As he was about to rise from bed, Gohan noticed his Dad sitting on the edge. His cheerful demeanor changed once again.
“So, are you ready for this?”
“To get married?” Gohan confirmed with a firm nod. “Yeah. I am.” He was certain of his decision thanks to that talk with his Dad. Gohan longed for more talks like that with his Dad but there never seem to be a moment where they could talk. The closest might’ve been last night when they came home together but he was buzzed and wouldn’t remember everything if he did talk. Today was probably a good time. “Dad… why did you ask if I’m ready for this?” His Dad looked at him questioningly. “I mean, you told me to propose to Videl. Why are you asking if I’m ready?”
Once again, Dad was silent. He rubbed the back of his neck; a sign that Gohan knew signaled his Dad’s nerves and uncomfortableness of the topic.
“I guess I thought I should. Your gramps asked me the same thing hours before I married ChiChi.”
“Grandpa Gyumao?” Grandpa and Dad had a good relationship. It wasn’t perfect. The three years after Dad came back from Yardrat was the worse time between them. Grandpa wasn’t fond of Dad for his absence and what that did to Mom but since his return, their relationship was solid. Still, Gohan had to ask, “What did you tell him?”
“I told him I wanted to marry ChiChi. Your Gramps said I didn’t have to go through with it, but I wanted to.”
“Why?”
Again, Dad shrugged. “I had an instinct. Me and ChiChi spent a few days before the wedding getting to know each other. I liked being around her. I knew if I had more time I’d fall in love and figure this marriage thing out.” With an awkward laugh, he confesses, “I kind of did.”
“You did, Dad.” Gohan patted his Dad’s shoulder. “You did.”
“Thanks.” There was something in Dad’s eyes that surprised Gohan. He seemed touched at Gohan’s assurance. “Your gramps told me I can always come to him for advice on marriage. I can’t can be as good as Gyumao but I’ll be here if you wanna talk.”
Gohan knew the gossip of his parents’ marriage from his Dad’s friends, but unlike them, Gohan witnessed it with a front row seat. For his parents to go through all they did and still be together, Gohan knew his parents were the ultimate source of knowledge in making a marriage work. “Thanks, Dad. I will.”
“I know ya have a busy life now. Ya got ya book stuff and your friends. Now ya gettin’ married and will have a kid one day. ChiChi told me even though ya gonna be next door, we can’t come over every day.”
“Make sure you tell Goten that.”
It was a joke. Gohan expected his Dad to laugh but he noticed sadness in Dad’s eyes. Wait. Is this really bothering Dad? I knew Mom would be sad but…..
“Gonna be kind of weird to not see you at the table every night. Ya gonna be next door but we can’t hang out as much.”
Wow. Dad…. I didn’t know.
“Tell you what.” Gohan put his arm around his Dad. “Once a month, we’ll spar together. I shouldn’t get too rusty. We’ll meet at that river you brought me and Goten after you came back.”
Gohan saw the smile return his Dad’s face, especially in his eyes. Those were fond memories he had with his brother and Dad after his return. For several days, the three fished, sparred and talked, forming a bond and memories they missed for seven years.
“Well, if ya wanna,” Dad grinned. “I know ya don’t enjoy fighting like me.”
“No,” Gohan agreed, “but I enjoy it with you.”
****
“There. What do you think?”
Videl was turned in the chair away from ChiChi to the mirror. “Wow.” Videl leaned forward in her chair awed. Despite Erasa’s advice, Videl allowed ChiChi to fix her makeup for the wedding. This was her future mother-in-law so Videl wanted to get along well with her. They have for years. Videl always considered ChiChi’s advice and suggestions but even Videl wasn’t sure about letting ChiChi do her makeup. She wore little herself. Even today, she kept her makeup simple but Videl was happy to be wrong as she was very impressed with the skill ChiChi used to paint her face.
“It’s beautiful.” Videl turned her face left and right admiring the flawless foundation ChiChi put on her face and neck, the soft rose of blush on her cheeks, and perfection of the red shine on her lips. A tomboy herself and one who lost her mother at a young age, Videl wasn’t good with makeup but her future mother-in-law showed she had skills in that area.
The two formed a strong bond over the years. Videl was initially intimated and frustrated with her but after getting to know her, Videl saw ChiChi as a second mother and one she wanted to fiercely protect. She had no idea the hardships ChiChi endured; how isolated she felt over the years by her husband’s friends and even Gohan when he was so young. The more she learned, the more protective Videl became of ChiChi and the stronger their bond became. She was like a mother to her and Videl hoped she was a like a daughter to her.
“I know you had your doubts,” ChiChi grinned as Videl admired herself, “but I’m glad you approve.”
“I do.” Her future mother-in-law continued to impress her with her hidden talents. In the mirror, Videl saw the clock on the wall behind her. “Oh, I better get in my dress. It’s almost time.” Videl rose from her seat. ChiChi carefully removed the dress from the mannequin as Videl removed her robe.
Videl stepped in her dress with ChiChi helping her. They looked through many wedding books, went to many stores together before they found the perfect dress. Erasa complained a few times at ChiChi’s presence and advice but Videl appreciated it.
The strapless wedding gown was perfect for her. It showed off the muscles on her arms and upper body, her slim waist, slight curve of her hips and even Videl had to admire how the dress hugged and elevated the appeal of her breasts.
“This dress looks so gorgeous on you,” ChiChi zipped up the back. “I knew it. Each time you look more radiant. My son picked a winner in a wife.”
“I’m the lucky one.” Videl fingered her diamond engagement ring.
“You’re both lucky. You two found each other at the right time. Just like me and Goku.”
The mentioned of her future father-in-law and her mother-in-law’s marriage had butterflies fluttering in her stomach. “I’m a little nervous. You and Goku are a tough act to follow.”
ChiChi giggled amused as she smoothed down Videl’s dress. “We are? I didn’t think anyone would want to try to emulate our marriage.”
With the hardships they had, Videl understood why. “What I mean is being married to a half Saiyan won’t be easy. I have a lot of food to prepare for every day. I cooked for Gohan a few times but I know it’s not enough.”
“You’ll get there. I was pregnant with Gohan before I figured out how much I should cook for Goku and each time he left for periods of time, I had to relearn how much to cook for him.”
“That’s another thing,” Videl continued worriedly. “What if Gohan has to leave me like Goku left you? Gohan won’t fight unless he has to but what if he dies in battle and I have to be away from him for years?” Videl’s voice wavered. She wasn’t going to cry and ruin the makeup ChiChi decorated her face with. “I’m not sure I can be as strong as you.”
ChiChi put an arm around Videl. Future mother and daughter-in-law gazed at each other in the mirror. “I didn’t think I had this strength in me either. When Goku died and Gohan was taken from me, I couldn’t do anything. I was in bed for days. When Goku died at the Cell Games, I wanted to die. Even though I had Gohan, there were nights I wanted to die and be with Goku, but I couldn’t. Goku wouldn’t want me to give up like that. He’d want me to live. I found that inner strength just like you will if something should happen to Gohan.” Given the young bride a gentle squeeze, ChiChi told her, “Gohan won’t die like my Goku did and if he does, he’ll find a way back to you like my Goku came back to me, but if something should happen, like my Dad was there for me, your Dad and I will be there for you.”
Videl squeezed ChiChi’s hand; happy for the advice and happy for the first time in years, she had a mother. “ChiChi…. thank you.”
****
The weather was warm and bright when the ceremony started. The storms of last night were forgotten. Security was tight as it was big news Mr. Satan’s daughter was marrying her high school sweetheart. Some in the press thought the marriage was beneath Videl. She was the daughter of Mr. Satan, world savior, and she was marrying a poor country boy. Some thought the Son Family were gold diggers marrying into a rich and famous family like the Satans but as word traveled Videl was marrying the son of the previous champion of the Tenkaichi Budokai, many understood the match and approved.
The children of the former and current world champion marrying. What a coup! Many were already speculating what children the union will bring and how for another generation the world will be protected and in good hands.
Videl proudly walked on the arm of her father as the bridal march tune carried them down the aisle. Her eyes were straight ahead on the love of her life, Son Gohan.
Gohan stood at the alter with slightly sweaty palms as he viewed Videl walking towards him.
“Keep your eyes on Videl,” Gohan heard his father tell him. “You want to remember how pretty she looks today.”
“Thanks, Dad,” Gohan whispered. “That’s good advice.” How did his Dad know to say that?
“It’s not mine,” Dad said again. “A friend told me that when I got married.”
Gohan followed his Dad’s advice, staring at Videl with their eyes on each other. She was very beautiful and his best friend. Videl understood him in a way Piccolo never did. Speaking of whom, his first teacher sat on the front row with his mother, brother and Grandpa Gyumao.
As the bridal march concluded, Videl reached him at the altar. Like his Dad many years earlier, Gohan bowed to Mr. Satan. His future father-in-law bowed before him, took Videl’s hand and linked it with Gohan’s. The world champ had tears in his eyes as this traditional gesture meant the father was passing his daughter to her husband. He will be the one to care and protect his daughter now.
Duty completed, Mr. Satan took the empty seat besides ChiChi.
The priest opened the ceremony with a warm greeting and passage reading from the bible. He spoke of the importance of marriage, how he and Videl will lean on each other in bad and good times; how they will form everlasting memories and each trial will make the bond they form from this day forward stronger. Gohan felt his hand being squeezed. From the corner of his eye he could see Videl looking at him. She knew he knew the responsibilities sound like a lot but knew they will handle it together.
The priest continued without a beat. “Let us proceed with the vows.”
Videl handed her handed her bouquet to Erasa while Gohan turned to his father who held Videl’s wedding ring. They rehearsed this but the actual ceremony was making his palms sweat. Gohan nerves must’ve been obvious to his Dad who gave him a thumbs up as he handed Gohan the ring. The gesture from his Dad was a signal he got this but Gohan felt his stomach twisting in knots as he turned to Videl. It was instant but Videl’s smile dissolved his nerves. Funny, Gohan remembered Dad saying Mom’s smile had an effect him, too. Perhaps this is what he meant.
Confidence rising, Gohan spoke his vows. **“This woman I marry. No matter what the health situation is, I will love this person, respect this person, console this person and help this person until death protecting fidelity I swear.”**
Videl held back her tears. She would not ruin her makeup! She wanted to look perfect for Gohan today. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as the spotlight was on her, and like her effect on Gohan, his smile eased her nerves as she repeated the vows and slipped Gohan’s ring on his finger. **“This man I marry. No matter what the health situation is, I will love this person, respect this person, console this person and help this person until death protecting fidelity I swear.”**
The holy man smiled at the couple who only had eyes for each other. “By the power invested in me, in front of our wonderful family and friends, I now pronounce you as husband and wife. Son Gohan, you may kiss your bride.”
Gohan raised Videl’s veil off her beautiful face. Her face was colored on her lips and cheeks. The fragrance she wore was soft but tantalizing. Videl always had a pretty face but something about her dress and her face made her the most beautiful woman he laid eyes on.
With a gentle kiss, Gohan placed his soft lips over Videl’s. Much too short for his liking Gohan thought as he pulled away. He licked his lower lip loving the sweet taste of Videl. Later, he thought with a sly smile. Linking hands, Gohan and Videl faced their audience as the holy man announced, “Family, friends, I present you Son Gohan and Son Videl.”
Applause and cheers rang from the audience. Gohan heard the loud cheers of his Dad ringing in his ears. He the happy smile on his mother’s face as her eyes brimmed with tears. His younger brother imitated his Dad as he stood in his seat clapping and cheering. Grandpa clapped as well. Piccolo gave him a nod and his father-in-law burst in tears, wailing at the loss of his daughter but the gaining of a son.
Hand in hand Gohan and Videl walked down the aisle together as husband and wife with many of the guests showering them with flower petals and rice.
“So,” Gohan brought Videl’s hand to his lips. His hair was colored with petals of pink, lavender, white and red “we’re married now.”
“Yes, Gohan,” Videl pulled Gohan’s arm, bringing him down to place another kiss on his lips, “We’re married.”
**Actual vows used at a Westernized Japanese wedding.

Dragon Ball Z 200
So we’re finally in the last leg of DBZ. The previous episode offered a glimpse of it, but Episode 200 is where we get to see the whole thing. Starting with this episode, the OP was changed to "We Gotta Power”, complete with a new animation focusing on Gohan as an 18-year-old high school student. The implication was that Gohan was taking over the role of the main character due to Goku’s absence, but that idea didn’t last very long, if that was ever really the idea at all.
For the next dozen or so episodes, though, Gohan is definitely the protagonist. Seven years after the Cell Games, he’s enrolled in a brick-and-mortar school. This is never fully explained beyond Chi-Chi’s belief that his home schooling curriculum was no longer enough. What changed? Did Chi-Chi want him to socialize more? Or were there no correspondence courses left for him to tackle?
The reason I bring this up is because there was a very good reason for home-schooling Gohan: the nearest classroom is hundreds of miles away in Orange City. It’s a quick commute for Gohan on his father’s Kinto’un, but it’s still a long way to go for a diploma that Gohan’s only a few months away from earning anyway.
Oh, and it’s not Orange City anymore. This is it’s first appearance, but this is Mr. Satan’s hometown, and in honor of his glorious victory over Cell, the citizens renamed the place “Satan City.”
You’d think a town famous for being the home of a world-saving hero would be light on crime, but actually no. Satan City is riddled with crooks. Pretty brazen ones too. I can’t tell if the crooks in this arc are just nuttier than usual, or if this standard Dragon Ball hyperbole.
Gohan’s been here a couple times before to set up his enrollment in the school, and he’s run into criminals every time he’s been here. It’s to the point where he’s more annoyed than disturbed.
So he foils these guys’ bank robbery, but to avoid unwanted attention, he turns into a Super Saiyan first, figuring the transformation will disguise him. He does the cool spot where he catches and crushes all the bullets they shoot at him...
Then he wrecks their getaway car with a ki wave. Once they’re down, he changes back to normal and acts like another innocent bystander. Then this girl shows up and demands to know who did all of this.
One guy in the crowd recognizes her as Videl, and he tells her that the guy who stopped the crooks was wearing an Orange Star badge, signifying that he’s a student at Orange Star High School...
...Just like Videl.
Speaking of school, it’s almost time for it to start, to Videl goes to class and starts asking around about the “Golden Warrior”, which is the unofficial name Gohan has earned for his vigilante activities.
On the left we have Sharpner, who’s some sort of jock, and he’s got blonde hair, so Videl figures he’s as likely a suspect as she’s going to find. But Sharpner’s too busy training for sports to do any crimefighting. On the right is Erasa, who’s also blonde, but Videl never bothers asking her.
Then Gohan shows up, and the teacher introduces him to the class. People can say that Gohan didn’t do anything during the seven year gap, but this teacher knows what’s up. Perfect scores on several subjects. Gohan was plenty busy all those years.
Erasa invites Gohan to sit with her because she finds him cute. She also informs Gohan that Videl is the daughter of Mr. Satan. Videl recognizes Gohan as the kid she saw at the bank robbery, but doesn’t connect him to the Golden Warrior.... yet. Erasa tells Gohan about the Golden Warrior, and he realizes that his disguise has backfired. Too many people have seen him fighting crime here, and if he’s not careful someone will figure out that it’s him.
What threw me off watching this in Japanese was when this teacher started speaking. In the dub, she has a thick German accent, and it’s an English class, but it’s an English class for English speakers, so she’s talking about prepositions or some crap like that. In Japanese, she’s teaching a foreign language course, so she reads English out of a book. So for a hot minute this lady speaks English, and she sounds really fluent, which really took me out of the story for a second.
But the gag here is that these kids are all having a side conversation during the lesson. Videl’s friends are satisfied that Gohan’s not blonde enough to be the Golden Warrior, but Videl isn’t so sure, since his outfit matches the description, and she’s heard of fighters who could change their hair color, because her father encountered Super Saiyans at the Cell Games. But her dad dismissed this as a trick, so she’s not sure what to make of it.
So the point of all of this is that Gohan is trying to make a life for himself in peacetime, and he’s convinced that he can’t reveal his true strength around anyone, which is why he doesn’t want anyone to connect him with this Golden Warrior business. But he’s too clueless to avoid slipping up in other ways, like when Erasa asks him where he lives, and he tells her he’s from a village hundreds of miles away.
This English lesson also serves as a way to reintroduce Mr. Satan to the story, since the textbooks feature him. Gohan reads aloud how Mr. Satan won the 24th Tenkaichi Budokai, and I think this is the first mention of this. Prior to this episode, Mr. Satan was said to be a combat sports champion, but it was never specified just what competition he had won to earn the title. Also, everyone kept acting like the 23rd Budokai was the last one. I suppose it’s possible that the 24th tournament could have been held after the Cell Games, but I think it’s commonly accepted that it happened before the Cell Sagas, and Mr. Satan’s world championship accolade was in reference to that victory.
Anyway, here’s the champ sneezing in his dojo. See, there’s this superstition in Japan where if you sneeze, someone must be talking about you somewhere, so whenever Mr. Satan sneezes, he observes that this must be true, because he’s so famous.
Never mind that shit! Here comes Freddie Mercury! I’m pretty sure this was unintentional but you never know. I don’t much care because HOLY SHIT THIS GUY LOOKS JUST LIKE FREDDIE MERCURY AND IT’S AWESOME.
What makes this so great is how there’s absolutely no self-awareness to it. The dub of Dragon Ball Kai seemed to play with the idea a little, but there’s only so much you can do, since this character is a no-nonsense gym coach making these kids play baseball. And that’s perfect, honestly. If there were a bunch of Queen references worked into this scene to beat you over the head with it, it would be dumb, but as it is there’s really no way to tell if this is a coindidence.
During the game, Gohan resolves to hold back his true strength, since Chi-Chi and Bulma warned him that it might cause trouble if people knew the truth. That’s kind of sad, actually. It’s not until we get to this episode that we realize that Gohan hasn’t had much of a normal life. To him, fighting super-battles is pretty typical, and he really doesn’t know how to even pretend to be a regular guy, no matter how badly he wants to fit in.
But it’s also kind of sad because he is half-Saiyan, and while he was raised as an Earthling, he really doesn’t have a way to express that aspect of himself. This is where Goku’s absence is most sorely felt. Yeah, Gohan can manage without him, and he can get through school somehow, but you’d figure it’d be nice if he could go home and his orange space dad could tousle his hair and then they’d horse around in the woods until dinnertime.
Anyway, Gohan’s so determined to keep his strength a secret, but when he goes to catch a fly ball, he ends up floating in midair while he decides what to do with it.
Then he throws to the catcher, and he’s so thrilled that he didn’t kill the guy that he doesn’t realize that he jumped like fifteen feet in the air a minute ago.
Also, Gohan knows nothing of baseball, but that’s fine in my book. Baseball is the fucking worst. He stands on the opposite side of the plate from the way he’s going to swing, but Coach Mercury doesn’t mind. Gohan can swing any way he likes in this class.
But Gohan’s plan is not to swing at all, since he’s concerned that he’ll hit the ball too hard and expose his secrets. But Sharpner throws a fastball at his head, thinking it’ll give Gohan a scare. Trouble is, Gohan doesn’t even try to dodge it, probably because he doesn’t see it as a threat. So he gets hit in the damn face with a baseball and just no-sells it.
But Gohan’s thrilled because this means he can go to first base without having to hit the ball. So thrilled that he doesn’t notice how shocked everyone is.
EVEN FREDDIE MERCURY IS AFRAID
Videl wonders what all of this could mean. How could someone so goofy be so handsome... I mean strong. Strong. Yeah, that’stheticket.
After gym, everyone wants a piece of the Gohan pie. Sharpner invites him to join the boxing club, since he’s stronger than he looks. I was setting up a “Sharpner’s also thirsty for Gohan joke” just now, but now that I think about it, maybe that’s not such a silly idea after all. I do know that Erasa’s into him, since she asks him to give her a ride home, but Gohan explains that his “car” only has room for one.
But Videl follows him after school, and she only ever sees him on foot. How very dreamy--suspicious! Get ahold of yourself, Videl!
But Gohan notices her stalking him and he gives her the slip by jumping on top of a building at super speed. “Gosh,” Gohan says, “I never realized so many people wanted to rock my bod.”
Then he flies home on the Nimbus, and to be honest I just included this screencap because I love the color scheme.

DRAGON BALL Z
The CLASH OF THE THREE INTERCLOCKED REALMS!!! DRAGON BALLxNARUTOxONE PIECE Note:Takes Place before the beginning of Omniverse war Chapter 1 and after Omniverse war chapter 0 part 2!!!This is Universe-25,00 , Earth#25,00 of the Multi-Omniverse. Setting:We now enter Mount Powsu home to a legend!
Goku:"Okay time for some training! Chi Chi:"Goku , nows the time for farming not training now get out in the yard." Goku:"Aw....but chi chi I got a call from a friend. He said this was really important and it may involve a new opponent, so I have to get stronger." Chi Chi:"Farm or else!" Goku:"ah...fine."
This is Goku a very strong hero of the planet earth, and one of the best martial artist to exist. As a boy to manhood he's gone on lots of adventures making friends all over wether started out friendly or enemy with his number one goal to fight stronger warriors in battle. At first it was to be the strongest as a boy but from young manhood to now He likes to spend his days eating and training and waiting for a new opponent to show themselves. He always loves a good challenge. He has train with some of the greatest martial arts teachers in his universe and trained under Gods later after that. Some of his battles would decide the fates of many and in the end he always pulled through... some see him as brave hero that never backs down to fight and protect. Others see him as only a battle hungry warrior that's only concern is challenging others stronger than himself and nothing more, but even though those two views of others are only through perception he is truly always Pure... and that's is it.
Goku picks up a farming tool and in his Gi(martial arts uniform)walks out to farm and train in secret. As he approaches the door he looks to the left only to find Goten(his youngest son, very Playful and strong.A brave martial artist with a lot of great potential.)playing with his toys, he then moves his head to the right to find Gohan(his oldest son, great scholar, former amazing Martial arts Warrior, and former vigilante superhero The Great Sayaman!!!)reading a book to videl(Gohan's girlfriend.Very feisty, trickster,a strong martial artist, the daughter of the new martial arts champion!) Goku then looks behind him to find no one at all. Goku sighed in relief. His angry wife(chi chi also former martial artist, living on the country side of the world with in the mountains now prefers for Goku to work and finally live a normal life after wasting their young years as adults training and fighting aliens, from her point of view.)was not in site, now he can secretly train while farming. He got stronger and his wife would be happy. It was a win, win. Goku was about to head outside the door. Now outside Goku was then attacked out of nowhere! A giant blue ball like beam almost hit Goku before he dodged and kicked it in the air. BOOM!!! Goku turns his head to see the beam made a huge impact!" Goku:"Okay Who's there show yourself!!"
Goku then senses the energy of a young boy hiding between the mountains. Goku instantly leaps in the air and flies towards the energy presence with his fist clenched!! The grip was very tight. It was obvious he was ready for a new fight! The farming tool lays on the grass in the front of the house already forgotten.
Goku uses his flight to head towards the mountains and figure out who attacked him. A spiky haired boy then appears from the mountains with a weapon in hand! He plans to catch Goku by surprise only for Goku to grab him by his shirt and snap his weapon in two with his bare fist! The boy tries to punch Goku only for Goku to instantly block his punch and fly down still holding the boy like a stuff animal as the boy angrily tries to break free from the grip.
Goku finally lands and drops the kid too. Goku then stares down at him and smiles. The boy just glares back at him. Goku's face then forms into a serious stare. The two then stare at each other for half an hour. Goku's face finally softens as he's now tired of staring making the boy give a confuse look that subsides into anger.
Goku:"So how strong are you little guy?" Boy:"Hey Shut up Sayian!"
Goku:"huh." Boy:"Yeah that's right I know who you are!"
Goku:"what's wrong with that?"
Boy:"you wana joke around pal fine, when I break every bone in your body then who will be laughing huh!"
Goku:"we can spar after lunch, I gotta go it's been half an hour and Chi Chi's making Senju want to come?!"
Boy:"Are you brain dead?! I just threaten you!"
Goku:"hey we can just have a meal before we fight. That's only fair isn't it?"
Boy:"look buddy, I'm not your friend! Go and have your fun meal but make it quick, because when I return your dead, here me dead! Grrr...."
Goku:"oh come on, have a meal, I can tell your hungry." Goku then approaches the boy with his arms out.
Boy:"what the... hey get away from me!"
Five minutes later....
We find the boy sitting next to Goku's family as Chi Chi prepares her amazing meal that they all call Senju. His face expression was anger. He was mostly annoyed and very embarrassed by the fact that he was carried in by a man two times his size and watched by the man's family who saw this from the front of the house looking for the man.
Goku then walks into the dinning room next to the boy and sits.
Goku:"Okay everyone, time to introduce our new guest."
Goten:"oh well who is he?And what is that thing on his head?"
Gohan:"That's a head band, but the metal on it looks like one often used in trained militaries, I can also guess by the symbol carved into the metal Goten."
Goten:"whoa.. so cool." Gohan then looks at the boy. Gohan:"am I right?" Boy:"hey shut up! Who gave you the right to meddle in my business huh?!"
Videl:"Listen Kid You will not speak this way while in this house. These are all good friends of mine!"
Boy:"listen Lady I never wanted to be here but he!*points furiously at Goku*carried me here against my will and is forcing me to eat his weird alien food!"
Videl:"Lady?!I'm a teenager!!!"
Boy:"you look like a lady to me."
Videl:"Well I'm not!" Boy:"whatever..."
Videl completely froze. She did not feel so embarrassed since her tv interviews about her Dad being the champ for many years. There was silence throughout the dining room. Everyone except the boy was curious of Videl's next move.
Videl's anger slowly grows as she wants to pound this kid to the ground for making her feel insulted with out showing any form of empathy at all.
Gohan could sense a frozen Videl's anger rising and immediately grabs onto her preventing her from trying to move. He knew she would unleash a beast from hell if he didn't!
Videl:"...wha... the... Gohan... let me go now!!" Gohan:"no Videl, I can't let you harm our guest or chi chi will be furious!" Videl:"I don't care! That little hedgehog started it!" Boy:"What did you call me?!" Goku:"hey guys easy okay...Chi Chi might here you..." Goten:"A dining room fight ahaha cool!"
Chi chi:"I hope you all are settled down in there..."
The uneasy voice of Chi Chi made the entire dining room freeze into place as everyone slowly got back into their seats from fear. Goku sighed in relief. Goku:"That was close." Gohan,Goten and Videl:"Kami save us all." Boy:"Kami huh, which one?"
We WILL BE RIGHT BACK!

Yoshiya looked at the flabby fighter and blushed red. "W-Wow, you're quite big, n-not that it's bad or anything, I think it's amazing!" He chimed with a smile. "My name is Yoshiya, what is yours?"
"Thanks! Nice to meet someone who appreciates those on the chunkier side. Though I feel I past the use of chunky along time ago... Anyways do you really not recognize me? That's a surprise, I usually have people hounding me all the time for autographs. The names Videl, daughter of the world martial arts champio, and current reining champ of the world wrestling league." Videl said with a smile as she extended a hand out to Yoshiya.

His Worst Fear Part IV: Healing
The final chapter of my GoChi fanfiction “His Worst Fear”.
Appears here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12453430/4/His-Worst-Fear
And here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/10665318/chapters/24151893
Part IV: Healing
Gohan sat with Videl on a couch, Pan napping away on her lap.
His bowed head snapped up and he took in the blood, dirt, and rips on my gi and his expectant gaze met mine.
I answered Gohan's unspoken question with a stiff nod, and he returned it.
Picking a seat across from him, I had just opened my mouth to ask about Goten when the phone rang and Gohan lunged for it.
"Hello?"
My sharp hearing picked out someone with a frantic tone, but not well enough to know exactly what he said. I had a good guess who was calling. And what he needed to know had to be said in person.
I took a deep breath and touched two fingers to my forehead as I locked onto Ox King's erratic, unstable energy and found myself in his study, the phone still at his ear, and Ox King himself seated at his large desk.
He gasped when he saw me and jumped up, words tumbling out of his mouth almost faster than I could keep up with. "Goku!" He looked me up and down. "You look like you've been through hell, son! What's going on!? Where's Chichi? I tried calling her yesterday and today, but the call wont go through! I thought maybe she was just busy yesterday, but I can't shake this awful feeling something's… happened to her. She's okay… right?"
My nails dug into my palms as I stared at the floor for a moment and then into his wide eyes.
I shook my head.
His mouth fell open with a shocked gasp and was followed by the crunch of plastic as the phone broke apart in his trembling grip, crushed beyond recognition, tiny pieces of plastic, metal, and glass clattering to his desk.
In a flash, he was in front of me with a speed I didn't know he had in him, my shoulders gripped by his trembling hands – his every word punctuated with a breath through clenched teeth. "Goku. What. Happened. To. My. DAUGHTER!?"
I was… almost scared of him in his state – never mind that I was a Saiyan and he was human. In front of me towered a man who had just lost his daughter. And it was suddenly easy to imagine why people were so afraid of him long ago.
My voice having lost all volume, I breathed out as I looked into his bloodshot eyes, "She and Goten were attacked at our home by one of my enemies."
He gasped as his anger deflated and he dropped heavily onto his desk, the wood creaking. "G-Goten… he was involved in this, too?"
"Yes. But Goten is fine. He was hurt but he's fine now."
"And Gohan… His family…?"
"They weren't involved in the fight."
He stood up off his desk. "L-let me get s-some things together and then t-take me to them."
He left the room and returned a few minutes later with a small, messily packed suitcase and grabbed his coat from the rack in the corner of the study.
He nodded to let me know he was ready and grabbed my shoulder as I touched two fingers to my forehead. He knew the drill.
When we arrived, Gohan was pacing in his living room, the phone still in his hand.
In a few quick strides, he reached us. "Grandpa!"
Ox King pulled Gohan in for a tight bear hug and held him.
I took the chance to go find Goten.
I followed his energy to the edge of Gohan's property. He sat trembling on a bench, his chin rested in his hand and his elbow braced on his knee.
I knelt in front of him and brushed away the tears coating his cheeks. He didn't seem to have noticed me because his eyes flew wide open at my touch and met mine for just a moment before staring down at his other hand clenched in his lap.
I blew out a breath. "Goten, I–"
"I was really mad at first when I woke up. But Gohan told me that you only did it to keep me safe."
I nodded. "Your brother is absolutely right. Goten, I almost lost you once. I wasn't going to lose you again. And if Black killed you there in the future, that would be… it. You couldn't be wished back. We'd never see you again."
Goten looked like that was news to him, his eyes a little bit wide. "Really? The Dragon Balls are gone in that time?"
"Yes. They are."
He frowned down at the ground quietly for quite a while until he whispered, "It's only been a day but… I miss her, Dad."
I closed my eyes for a moment and blew out a breath. "I do, too, Goten. I do, too."
He dove into me and pressed his little body into my chest and I wrapped my arms around him. Holding Goten, I stood up and headed inside.
Ox King got up from his seat on the couch next to Gohan and walked up to us. "Goten…"
He twisted around in my arms, but kept his grip on my gi top, and whispered, "Hi, Grandpa."
"Hey, champ."
Ox King leveled his gaze on me. "Goku… tell me exactly what happened and who… I need to know who took her from us."
He pressed me for every last detail – the others listening intently as I explained to him what I knew of Black's and Zamasu's history, their motivations, and everything that led up to her death. Disgust quickly gave way to anger; anger to hatred and finally tears when I when I told them about how she saved Goten at the very last second before Black took her life.
When I reached the battle, my family knew I showed her killers no mercy. It was the closure they needed. Closure I needed.
We never, ever wanted to hear their names again.
Goten trembled in my arms and let out a soft, hiccupping sob.
Ox King reached out and rubbed his back but looked at me, concern in his eyes. "You… you look exhausted, son. The day is still young. Why don't you get some rest first?"
I shook my head as I stood straight. "I have more than enough energy to get us to New Planet Namek and back. I'll be fine."
I had kept her waiting more than enough. Besides, there would be time for sleep later.
I touched two fingers to my forehead and waited for everyone to grab on.
Gohan held his arms out for Goten and pointedly looked me up and down.
I glanced down at myself.
A strip of fabric over my shoulder a couple inches wide was all that kept it on – what little there was left soaked in blood, sweat, and caked with mud and pulverized concrete.
I patted Goten's back to get his attention. "Hey, buddy. I need to go get cleaned up but it'll only be a few minutes until I get back. And then we can go get your mother back."
He lifted his tear-streaked face off my chest and nodded as he reached for his brother.
Once down the hall, stepped into our bedroom and grabbed a fresh gi I kept there and into the bathroom. I pulled off what was left of my gi and that tiny piece of yellow fabric fluttered to the floor. I picked it up, the little bit of fabric finally falling apart in my fingers, yellow fibers drifting to the floor.
As singed as it was, I was surprised it had lasted through the battle.
Like I had with Goten's gi the night before, I vaporized the bloody, dirty rags with a little energy. Tapping into my power even just for that revealed how little I really had. The Evil Containment Wave that trapped him and all that practice the day before took a lot more out of me than I thought.
I ran the shower and stepped into the hot water, letting it work out the aches and soothe my pounding head and started scrubbing, the sudsy water running red-brown.
None of that held a candle to what I felt inside.
I missed her smile. Her eyes. Her laugh. Her temper. Her smell. The feel of her hair when she let it down only for me. The sound of her voice and how she hummed when she was happy. The warmth of her energy. I missed everything about her.
And it hurt.
I had experienced every bone in my body broken – even the pain of death when I died with Raditz. I knew what pain was. Pain wasn't anything new to me – at least not the physical kind.
In that awful moment, my heart was shattered, a part of it going with her. That pain… the sheer power of that feeling was so different. And… worse.
It was a crushing, constricting weight that made even breathing difficult. A pain so intense it really was physical. So that was what they called a broken heart.
And only one thing would fix it. Only one thing would make me whole again. It was time to get her back.
I turned off the water and stepped out. Raising what was left of my energy, the heat I put off dried me quickly and I pulled on the fresh, clean gi as well as my boots.
My senses guided me outside where everyone waited in Gohan's garden.
Flowers. That sounded like a good idea.
Goten ran up to me, grinning excitedly and a little teary. "Can we go pick some flowers for Mom?"
I nodded down at him, smiling, too. "You read my mind, champ."
He jumped into the air, hovering a little above us. "Then let's go!"
I lifted into the air, too. "Do you know where to find your mother's favorite flowers?"
"Yeah!"
Gohan lifted into the air and handed Goten some huge red roses. "Add these to the bunch."
Goten grinned wider. "Hey, yeah! Mom likes roses!" He looked at me. "Let's go, Dad!"
Gohan landed and shouted up to us, "I'll be here when you get back!"
Goten and I nodded and rocketed away.
Goten kicked in Super Saiyan. "Last one there is a rotten egg!"
I laughed and that felt good. I jumped into Super Saiyan and easily caught up with him.
Moving as fast as we were, the flight to our mountain only took a few minutes and then the wildflower field came into view – as did some of the damage to the forest from the short battle and I rubbed a hand over my chest.
"I see the flowers, Dad!"
My attention snapped to Goten who had just landed in the middle of the field and I followed him down.
We set to work picking all kinds of flowers. She really liked all the different colors but there was a particular kind of bright yellow one she seemed to really like, sometimes gently running her fingers over their delicate petals when I brought them home to her. She didn't touch the others quite like that.
There were more of her favorite yellow ones growing than any other. After Goten and I picked good-sized handfuls, we combined them into one big bunch. We had dark red roses from Gohan's garden, her favorite yellow ones, plus a lot of pink, purple, and blue flowers of all kinds of shapes and sizes and smells – smells that were a little overwhelming to my nose when all together like that.
I sneezed and Goten giggled.
I handed the bunch to him. "Think this is enough, Goten?"
He nodded, grinning. "I think Mom'll like these a lot!"
"I think she will, too. Let's go back to Gohan's."
"We all go get Mom together, right Dad?"
I rubbed his head, smiling at him. "Of course, Goten."
Keeping my hand on his head as he carefully held onto the flowers, I touched two fingers to my forehead and made the jump to Gohan and the others.
Ox King, Videl with Pan in her arms, Gohan, and Goten all linked hands and Goten grabbed mine.
"We have one stop we need to make before we can go to New Namek. We need to see Bulma."
Locking onto Bulma's energy, we found her in the lab with the time machine and hunched over a computer attached to it by long cables and Vegeta watching her from a corner.
I explained what we needed. After a few minutes of searching, she handed me the radar and gave me a hug with a tearful, "Good luck, Goku."
"Thanks, Bulma."
With that, I stuck the radar in my pocket and concentrated on Elder Moori's ki. We were on New Namek in an instant and just outside a large dwelling.
Elder Moori walked out and smiled in surprise at our small group. "Ah! Goku! And family! What a pleasant surprise! What brings you here on this fine day?"
I glanced at our group and back at him. "Someone very special was… taken from us just yesterday and we'd like to use your Dragon Balls to bring her back since Shenron can't do it."
"Of course, Goku! Anything you need. However, you know it'll take some time to gather the Dragon Balls."
I smiled. "Thanks, Elder Moori." And held up the radar. "No, it won't."
I clicked the button and it came to life with a beep, seven blips scattered all over the planet blinking on the screen and everyone who could fly took off to search.
The Namekians helped look, too. Elder Moori explained that word travelled quickly thanks to the telepathy of their kind.
About five hours after we arrived, all seven Dragon Balls were pulsating with light on the ground at Elder Moori's feet in the middle of their village square and ready to be used.
I had almost forgotten how big the Namekian Dragon Balls were.
Elder Moori walked around the circle and up to us, his face serious. "Are you ready, Son Goku?"
My boys and I exchanged hopeful smiles and all nodded our heads.
Elder Moori nodded once and turned to the Dragon Balls. He extended his hands out over them and summoned Porunga in his native language.
Just like on Earth, the sky went dark as night and loud clashes of thunder and dazzling flashes of lightning tore through the sky as one particularly large bolt struck the Dragon Balls and surged high up into the air. What started as a massive, thick bolt lightning attached to the Dragon Balls quickly took the shape of Porunga himself – a dragon even larger than Shenron.
"WHY HAVE YOU AWAKENED ME FROM MY SLUMBER? SPEAK NOW SO THAT I MAY GRANT YOU THREE WISHES."
His deep, ancient voice reverberated through the ground and into my very bones. Goten cringed and scooted behind my leg. I put my hand on his head. He had nothing to be afraid of. Pan cried and her parents comforted her.
Elder Moori turned to us. "Porunga will only grant wishes spoken in the Namekian tongue. Tell me each of your wishes and I will translate."
I nodded and glanced at Gohan. "Please restore our home to how it was before Black destroyed it."
He nodded once and looked up at Porunga and repeated our wish in the Namekian language.
Porunga's eyes glowed red for several moments. "It is done. Your home has been restored."
The boys and I exchanged looks. She would need a place to return to when it was time to wish her back.
Elder Moori looked to me for the second wish.
"Please do the same for the surrounding forest."
Like before, his eyes glowed red once again. "It is done. The forest has been made pristine."
I wanted to wipe all traces of Black from our home and mountain, but didn't think I'd have the words to do that if I had asked for her back first.
But, it was finally time.
"You have one last wish remaining."
I took a deep breath as Gohan's hand gripped my shoulder tight. "Please revive my wife, Son Chichi."
Again, Elder Moori translated.
Porunga's eyes glowed red. "Son Chichi has been revived at the place of her death."
Goten cheered and Gohan laughed.
Tears gathered in my eyes. "Thank you, Porunga!"
He understood that and nodded once. I could have sworn he even smiled at me.
"I have fulfilled your wishes. Until we meet again."
His shape melted into that thick, blindingly bright lightning bolt and it vanished as the Dragon Balls rose up into the sky and shot away in seven different directions.
She was back. She was at home waiting for us.
I looked at Elder Moori and at the small crowd of Namekians. "Thank you."
Elder Moori smiled at me. "I am happy to help, Son Goku."
I looked down at Goten and returned his bright smile. "Ready to go home, buddy?"
He cheered again. "Yeah!"
I touched two fingers to my forehead and locked onto her warm energy, taking just a moment to let her essence wash over me. She was at first disoriented and then overjoyed. I smiled.
I glanced over both my shoulders to make sure everyone was connected. Gohan had his hand on my shoulder and his other arm around Videl's shoulders, baby Pan in her arms. Ox King's giant hand was on my other shoulder and Goten was attached to my leg.
I knew exactly where I was before I opened my eyes, the smells hitting me first. No acrid bite to the air from ki blasts. No burning smells. No smoke. Only the fresh smells of the forest and healthy trees. And the smell of a fire burning in our fireplace.
The familiar creak of our front door and I turned around to see her standing there, smiling up at me, and that missing piece fell into place, leaving my heart ready to burst.
Goten reached her first with a loud squeal of "MOMMY!" and knocked her to the ground with a resounding thud. She laughed and laughed.
I chuckled.
Gohan got to her next and pulled her to her feet and hugged her tight.
Ox King walked up to her and lifted all three of them off their feet in a huge bear hug and she giggled again.
Videl went forward and hugged her as well. Baby Pan didn't really understand just what was going on, but she was happy to see her grandma and dove into her arms. Chichi giggled and kissed her before passing Pan back to Videl and Ox King took everyone inside our house and shut the door.
And then it was just her and me.
I couldn't take it anymore. I ran to her and scooped her up, lifting her off her feet. She laughed and so did I. Until my laughter caught in my throat when I breathed her in with my nose buried deep in her shoulder, my eyes burning.
I pulled my head back just enough to press my trembling lips to hers for several long seconds as tears escaped and rolled down my cheeks. Her arms tightened around me, squeezing me together.
When our kiss was over, I looked into her dark, teary eyes sparkling an inch from mine. "I missed you so much. I love you, Chichi."
She smiled gently and brushed the back of her small hand across my cheeks, wiping away my tears. "Oh, my sweet Goku. I love you, too."
Her smile. The kind of smile she wore only when we were alone together. I couldn't get enough of it. Her sparkling, teary eyes as she brushed her nose against mine. The feel of her soft skin. The slight flush in her cheeks when I kissed her again. Her smell when I buried my nose in her hair. Taking my time, I soaked in every single one of those little things that made Chichi… Chichi.
Everyone chatted happily and turned their smiling faces on us as we walked in, hand in hand.
Ox King's eyes darted from our faces to our joined hands and back to our faces, his smile wide. "I took the liberty of getting going on dinner, Chichi. Hope you don't mind. Now, why don't you and Goku sit down and relax."
Chichi gasped, her hand loosening in mine. "Papa! That's a huge amount to cook alone! Let me help!"
My hand tightened around hers.
All that talk of food made my stomach unleash a loud roar as I realized just how little I ate after Chichi was… taken from us. Everyone was silent and then burst out laughing – Chichi's laugh ringing the clearest over everyone. I rubbed the back of my neck with my free hand as a little bit of heat spread across my cheeks.
When the laughter died down, Ox King pointed to the couch. "Now, sit! Let me cook for us."
She smiled back. "Thank you, Papa."
Room was made for us on our sofa, the boys moving to the floor. We sat down and I put an arm around her shoulders as Goten jumped into her lap and Gohan smiled up at her.
Goten nuzzled into her. "I love you, Mom."
She smiled, her arms wrapping around Goten. "I love you, too."
Gohan scooted closer to her. "Welcome back, Mom. We missed you a lot."
She reached out and put her hand to Gohan's cheek. "I missed my boys so much."
We laughed, we talked, and ate every bit of the massive, delicious smorgasbord Ox King cooked for us and then cleaned up and laughed and talked some more well into the night. Eventually, Gohan took his family home.
As Gohan and his family walked out the door, Ox King decided to leave next.
I leaned forward on the couch, about to get up. "Need a lift, Ox King?"
He shook his head as he dug into his pocket and pulled out a capsule. "I'm fine, Goku, but thank you. I have my car right here."
I nodded and smiled.
Chichi waved. "Bye, Papa. Drive safe."
He waved back to her. "I'll be fine, my dear."
With that, he stepped out the door.
Goten had drifted off for the night in Chichi's lap and was out cold. Seeing Goten like that, I yawned widely – suddenly realizing just how worn out I was.
Chichi looked at me and gasped as her hand went to my cheek. "Oh, Goku! You look absolutely exhausted – more tired than you did even after the fight with Majin Buu. Did you get any sleep at all?"
I smiled and reached up to put my hand on hers. "Don't worry about me, Chi. I'm just fine."
I really was since she was back.
She didn't look like she bought it but her pretty face softened into a tender smile – but I didn't miss the slight arch of her left eyebrow. "Let me tidy up and then let's go to bed."
I chuckled quietly. "Okay."
Her smile widened and I helped her up from her seat with Goten in her arms and we went down the hall. She put him in his bed and he never even stirred as Chichi pulled the covers over him.
Once Goten was settled, Chichi went about her normal evening routine humming softly and fluffing the sofa cushions, wiping down the counters, sweeping the floor, all the usual stuff while I leaned against the kitchen doorframe. Like nothing had ever changed. Like she hadn't been… gone… just hours before.
She opened the kitchen window, the cool breeze blowing in the smells of our quiet mountain.
At least it was quiet.
I had always thought she'd be safe there. I took it for granted that she would be. But then she wasn't. My worst fear became reality when one of my enemies found my family. I had a lot of nightmares before of my enemies finding her and killing her and Gohan and Goten. And then it actually happened. For the first time, an enemy singled out my family.
She touched my arm as she walked by me and headed down the hall. I followed after her. I closed our bedroom door behind me and sat down at the foot of our bed. She changed into a light purple nightgown and ran her brush through her hair.
She walked up to me, smiling lovingly.
I reached up and ran my fingers through her beautiful dark hair and she leaned down and kissed me, that one deep and lingering.
She sat down on my lap and nuzzled her face into my shoulder with a small sigh – her breath tickling the crook of my neck – and I wrapped my arms around her.
I missed her so much those seven years I spent in Other World – time that flew by for me. I didn't even know seven years passed on Earth until King Kai told me. And then things were reversed for over twenty-four hours.
Twenty-four long, painful hours.
If hours hurt that badly…
I pressed my lips into her temple, my eyes burning again. "I'm… so sorry for making you live without me for seven whole years. I can't do this life without you, Chichi. I love you."
She pulled back but didn't say anything, instead pressing her lips to mine, her thumb brushing over my cheek to catch the tear rolling down it.
I was relieved I didn't have to try.
