I genuinely like the name I picked for myself (Nerium) however. if I think too hard about why I'm choosing to name myself after a poisonous flower I'll probably end up locked in the all too tumultuous circuit of is-this-a-healthy-or-unhealthy-choice and that sounds exhausting. Plus the waffling on if this specific botanical name sounds gender enough to my ears (which depends on the day tbh). Sometimes it feels to 'feminine' and other days it's totally chill for me. Idk.
#names#and gender ig.#the gender moment of picking a name for yourself#nerium comes from nerium oleander and means “water” from the greek word “neros” bc the plant is often found by water#it can symbolize innocence. or danger. or strength. or charm#depending on what source you use#it's also like one of the -imo- usable poisonous plant names.... digitalis is... not a vibe for me and Foxglove is. hnnnnnn#and i don't personally think i'm a Datura type of person or a Solanum#and whatever i picked was either gonna be a plant a stone or a star and i'm already named for a stone (玉) in Cantonese#and star names... don't quite suit me either. i guess idk.#idk maybe the fact that i'm questioning it at all means i need to keep looking?#but I like Nerium#at least for now.

I'm finally able to show my page for @onceuponaturnaboutzine !
My piece was based on stories of fairies as they appear in the works of Shakespeare. All of the plants that appear in the piece were chosen for their symbolic meanings in relation to Dahlia and Phoenix's relationship. I even made a little diagram explaining them that I'll put under the cut
transcript in case you can't read my terrible handwriting:
Wisteria: poisonous
Datura: poisonous, disguise, defeat
Baby's breath: poisonous, sweet love
Musk rose: referenced in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the standard garden rose of Shakespeare's time
Salix alba (willow): enchantment, love spells
Foxglove: poison, deception
Rosa carolina: love is dangerous
Bleeding heart: poisonous, love, it just looks sick as hell
Pink dahlia: femininity, love, I can't not include them
Ranunculus: attraction
Burgundy dahlia: betrayal
Rhododendron: poisonous, danger
Ranunculus sardous: madness, invitation
Sweet william: scorn, treachery, broken hearted men
Mallow: consumed by love

Are there any Dazatsu fics that you can recommend reading? I've tried finding some but not all are really great so I thought a second persons advice might help.
Hi anon! Of course I can but I dont really read recent fics on ao3 so they are probably a bit old but! I'll put author recommendations instead who writes dazatsu and example of the fics I like from them so you can check them out yourself!
First is @looking-for-stray-dogs or planet_b612 on ao3. She is like, the goddess of dazatsu fanfics if you ask me because she captured their characters perfectly in my opinion. I think there's not any dazatsu shippers who dont know her but here is one of the fics I like from them. It has getting back together trope which is rare for dazatsu.
Second is @blchwaaaan with the same username on ao3. They are specialized in writing angst, but their fluff is top tier too. This is one of their dazatsu fluff I like, and this one is the angst one.
Next is @mamichigo though they are currently not actively writing for bsd anymore but it's worth checking them out. Here is one of the ones I like from them.
@ladytective is good too. They are samuela on ao3 and not really active now but still updating their ongoing series that I really look forward to. They write romance with humors but still will make you clench your heart with the fluff and light angst. This is one of my fav!
Their friend treetrunkdaddy also write good dazatsu but I forgot their tumblr (sorry!) but this one is example of their fics.
@datura-foxglove is not an active author anymore too but their dazatsu is worth checking! There are some on their blog but there are some on ao3 too. This one is one of the fics I like.
The rest I'll put my recs to the fic only because I dont know or not sure of their tumblr handle😅😔
In Coming Years by chimesDissent
Take Me Back to The Night We Met by Mushroomfields
thinking till the sun comes up by arrrowiee
a history of me and you (writer AU) by murakamism
The Disqualified by corgo_queen (this one is very angsty but thrilling)
mum's the word by angelofgrief
Damn The Bastard Anyway by galliechan
the little moments in life by eunhami
Late Night Thesis Excuses series by tamarind (this one is really angsty too)
something worth living for by monomoon
Our Love (in a Ball of Yarn) by celestial_sorrow (one of my fav)
Healing Touch by WalkingFadingColors
live for something beautiful by lostdandelion
heat of the moment by anonymous (this one is omegaverse and nsfw so please read the tags with caution)
Mokita by Hinenokubi (atsushi is sick like his IRL counterpart here and yes it's very angst with no happy thing for dazai)
From an empty apartment by Iaka_Linksar
love in a cauldron by sleepyfoxthieves
I think that's all for now? Or this post will be even longer than this akjsjss I'm sorry if you've already read some of these but if not, I hope they are into your tastes. And dont forget you can check on the authors' account if you like their writing. Good luck and happy reading!

💀Pick a Poisonous Flower - Pick a Card
Pandorasworkshop
Pick a poisonous flower to find out who's your hidden enemy?
Datura Foxglove Belladonna
Datura
Datura is a hellish plant that can bring about nightmarish hallucinations and dehydrate your body past no return.
Cards: queen of cups, devil, death, king of pentacles, moon, eight of pentacles .
Readings: Be careful of a blonde? women who you may work with or go to school with. She is highly manipulative and has a sweet girl act down to every last detail. She's convinced the people around her of this act as well. This person may be jealous of your success, hard work, talent and patience. They may want to push you out of your position, get you fired in the worst case scenario, get your promotion or steal your light. Be careful not to tell people too much jealous eyes can give you bad luck. Your advice is king of pentacles which means someone in your higher up will help you but first you need to balance yourself. Do not react to anything. I can see this person using your anxiety/depression/paranoia against you. Stay calm and collected. This person is really obsessive. She may even try to take your ideas and pass them off as hers. Make sure things are in writing always. Be very careful. These cards are heavy major arcana.
Signs: rainbows, number 8, magic 8 ball, masquerade mask, growing pains, scones, chai tea, wanting to cut your hair, police sirens, cold beer.
Foxglove
Foxglove is a poisonous plant that it's affects are similar to that of a cardiac arrest. It's called foxgloves because it was thought to be fairies gloves.
Cards: Seven of pentacles, three of cups reversed, nine of swords, nine of cups
Reading: You have a lot of envy for simply being yourself. Someone in your friend group is really jealous of you and may be unintentionally sending you negative energy your way through the evil eye. All the cards in this reading are minor arcana so I feel like this person won't do anything really impactful? Or anything that will make a dent in you. They are jealous of how happy you seem in yourself and how you seem to persevere through things. You have confidence that they don't have and it causes them to be self conscious. Your energy may be picking up on this if you are highly intuitive and it makes you feel worried almost but don't be. Your advice is to cleanse yourself and any gifts you may get and stay protected however you may do that. Your guides got yoy
Signs: gigs, snow, thunderstorms, starting your period, icicles, haunted houses, fairy themed stuff, feeling sick to your stomach, warm cup of tea, brown boots, brown sugar, angel statues.
Belladonna
Belladonna is a poisonous plant that if ingested can cause lethargy and comas if ingested. It got it's name from 'beautiful' and 'woman' because it used to be made into a topical cosmetic foundation and increased pupil size. Obviously this has been out of practice now.
Cards: Three of cups, three of swords, judgement and five of pentacles
Reading: You may have broken someone's heart or broken off a friendship. This person feels veryyy resentful of you. Even if you were just asserting your boundaries. You may actively know this person dislikes you but may not think they are wanting to see your downfall but this person is very much in their emotions and feels very hurt by just your presence. They may try to use your past against you like past trauma, occupations or things you've done when you were younger. They are beating a dead horse and I feel as if this person will get tired of it eventually. They could even be a step sibling? Whoever this person is they can't take no for an answer and aren't the type person you want in your life.
Signs: Romeo and Juliet, Wattpad fanfics, opera, Chocolate cake, crepes, feeling really hungry, parrots, 421, 444, journaling, listening to classical or instrumental music.

The things Morgana did to heal her sister until she accepted it was over:
after what Merlin did to her, Morgana became insensitive to poisons, so she brewed a potion of fly agaric and datura, seeking for immersion in a magical dream to receive guidance or an answer. Alas, all she foresaw was Arthur's death again, and the shadow of some old man that seemed vaguely familiar to her. When she woke up, she vomited, helpless.
Morgana contacted several warlock merchants and spent a fortune of crowns to buy antique magic healing books. None of the traditional drugs helped Morgause, at best they only put her to sleep. That provided a relief, but only just. Diamond powder mixed with Imbolc dew. A mask made of a raw unicorn skin. A decoction of celandine and foxglove in which she soaked linen cloths to cover Morgause's face and body. Nothing.
Then Morgana turned to black magic, the last and sacral refuge of the night souls. She devised to draw the life force out of someone and give it to her sister. Someone innocent and strong. Morgana cooked Morgause food and decoctions for two days, wrapped her in fur blankets and left their hovel and the woods. There was a village. At night, she knocked on the window, and a child opened. When his life turned out to be useless, Morgana left the weak little body at the edge of the forest, hoping the fairies would pick it up. Then she thought up an idea of pulling out the disease and giving it to someone else. Better to the one who caused Morgause's pain and misery. With the help of an intricate ritual, Morgana tried to sick and curse a straw and bone doll of Merlin. Morgause awoke crying from pain, so apparently the wicked servant didn't even feel anything.
When Morgana, desperate, wanted to sacrifice her own blood, Morgause stopped her. "Sister. Nothing will help me anymore. But I know something that will help you. Samhain is coming."

🗝️🏷️ RAMCOA, watch me suffer
I’m trying something. I can kind of tell I’m not supposed to, but I haven’t been forcibly removed yet. Take what helps, leave what doesn’t.
Flower Programming
A hierarchy or category based organization of alters in a programmed system. May be across one group or the whole system, paired with other organizational programs or used alone, etc.
In hierarchy, flowers are ranked according to cultural significance— mainstream flower language, religious affiliation, whatever the programmer can dream up. I’m gonna need you to read between the lines a little when I say this might not apply to you.
